“First time yesterday for a casual date night. Reservation was a bit hard to secure, but once booked, we were followed up on multiple times to know our ETA. When we arrived on a busy Saturday night, we were whisked back immediately to our desired corner window table. We knew what we wanted beforehand and was happy the items were not “sold out” (happened more times than you think it’s possible). For appetizer, we split the Black Truffle Soup in two, and it was a good thing we did it since the amount was just right, more so as we planned to have the Dry Aged Ribeye as the entree. The ribeye (we both had it medium rare) was one of the very best I’ve had in recent times (and I’ve been to quite a few expensive restaurants in SF over the last 6 months) - it was flavorful, juicy and well marbled, perfectly complemented by the Bordelaise sauce.I will definitely come back here again, just for the Ribeye!“
“Bistro Vida offered exactly the French Bistro experience we were looking for: Traditional items like the onion soup and Steak Frites were prepared as ordered (and as expected). Service was prompt and polite, without being overbearing. Prices were quite reasonable for the Bay Area. Parking was readily available. (We had lunch on a Saturday.)“
“Italian cuisine was excellent with many options, especially pasta. Unfortunately we came when there was 3 very large loud parties which I thought was unusual for a Monday night. You kind of stop talking at your table and try to ignore the noise. Definitely not for a romantic of business meeting dinner.“
“This is a culinary delight and an absolute MUST dining experience in the super quaint "Main Street" area of San Mateo. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive - as if you were honored guests in their home. The food was incredible - truly something for everyone - and delicious. The wine list is extensive - they offer Caymus Cab by the glass; a rare occurence. The cocktails were well crafted. Start to finish...this was a meal and an establishment to remember. I will be back! You need to check this place out!!Parking: Immediately in front of the restaurant is a walkable promenade (no vehicular traffic) - 2nd & 3rd Streets offer limited street parking, some of which is restricted - much is taken up by restaurant outdoor dining "parklets". YOUR BEST BET is the Main Street Parking Garage. You only pay until 6 PM...it is free until 2 AM thereafter.Kid-friendliness: Not so much. This is definitely a "hey, mom & dad, take a few hours off! Get a sitter!" kinda place.Wheelchair accessibility: Accomodating - but give them a heads up ahead of time. One of our guests had a walker and staff graciously helped her get situated, and stowed the walker while we dined.“
“The ambience is one of the greatest reasons why we keep returning. We missed Cameron's great service this time, but the young lady who helped us was great. Food , as always, was top notch. Only slight negative was there were more than one beverage choices not available, but listed on the menu.“
“I walked around after Mediterranean dinner hoping to find some decent coffee....good sipping expresso...because it's late I only asked for a single!Yummmm...I haven't sipped a coffee so good since maybe Cafe Treiste in the day.The 'piece de resistance' was an amazing lemon tartlett!I'm swooning here!By the way it's 8pm!“
“I love the vibes of this quaint, very French cafe - it just feels so authentic. Service is quick despite being fairly busy and the wide menu means you can always get something that you're craving. The food itself is pretty good but not particularly outstanding - for example, the croque madame sort of just fell apart from the softness of the bread and the wetness of the bechamel. However, the pastries look good and seem affordable - they're next on my list to try when I return!“
“I don’t know why this restaurant doesn’t have a line outside the door! The food is always delicious and fresh. The menu is small but PERFECT. They change things up slightly seasonally and I’ve never eaten anything there that wasn’t 10/10.“
“The Hostess was extremely helpful in making an accommodation since we ended up with fewer in our party and were initially seated at an extra-large table. Even though the restaurant was busy, they were able to move us to a more appropriately sized table. The service by Escardo was fantastic. The food was provided in a timely fashion, and all the food served was properly prepared and was delicious. We have eaten at the Left Bank in Menlo Park many times and the consistency in service and food cooked has been always on the mark. I absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for positive restaurant experience.“
“We made a reservation for a Sunday lunch in advance and were seated inside, away from the cold.I had the lamb shank. It's a generous dish. It can be shared really. Same with most of their desserts. I had the chocolate mousse. It's very sweet and could go well with tea or coffee.I've tried their burger in the past which is pretty good too.“
“We've been to this restaurant several times for dinner or to the bar to listen to live music on Saturday nights. The restaurant has an old school setting, which was nice. The restaurant in general is pricey. This was the first time that we went for lunch.Everything for lunch was delicious, and the service from Ignacio excellent. We started with a glass of Moet champagne, which was very good. For an appetizer, we had fried zucchini blossoms that also had crab inside. This was so good, we wanted to lick the plate. For lunch we had a Dungeness crab sandwich and fish & chips and both were on the daily lunch specials. For lunch they also offer a 3 course prixe fixe menu for$37, which I would have tried except that I wanted their bananas foster for dessert, which they make tableside and is sooo good. You can see live musical performers on Saturday nights in the bar for a fee.“
