“Cute restaurant with good vibes . They had a huge menu ! Delicious food, fair prices and generous portions . We had a larger party and everyone ordered different & all enjoyed . The service was attentive and kind, we will definitely be back !“
“Let me tell you. This place has great menu selection thru-out including beer Great customer services to begin with. Bomb mariscos and sushi. But today we tried the green chilaquiles for breakfast and man they were delicious ?. I recommend next time y’all go. Thanks océanosWheelchair accessibility: Definitely ADA compliance“
“What a great place! Drove by it a couple times before I noticed it, tiny parking lot and ended up parking on the street. There is seating at the sushi bar, as well as on the patio. Loved the food selections! Definitely ate things outside of my comfort zone, but everything was delicious and amazing. Showed up super hungry and left full and satiated. Only complaint was that no one ever asked me if I wanted any water (I got quite thirsty, as the course was a little over 2 hours.)Looking forward to returning for another seasonal menu!“
“Just go. You’ll be glad you did. A group of us were in San Diego for a convention and decided we wanted some sushi. After some quick research I came across Makai as the only 5-star rated sushi place. I was a little suspicious because restaurants just don’t get 5-stars. There’s always an unhappy customer, right? Well, we took the chance and I’m thrilled we did. The owner is the chef and he was extremely welcoming and his sushi was, no kidding, among the best I’ve ever had. I had the Godzilla sushi bowl and the combination of seafood, rice, sauce, avocados were perfect. I could hear everyday. And, I’ve had sushi all over the country and throughout the world. Some really swanky places. Makai is different. I’s personal. Not pretentious. The food is amazing, but the experience rivals it in it’s feeling of authenticity. Will be watching for this place to grow as people find this awesome place.“
“Came here the other night for dinner.(+) Vibe. Very cute little restaurant with the sushi bar and a few tables along the walls.(+) Service. Pretty on top of things and friendly. There were a few times I think the server didn't notice something and the sushi chef said something in Japanese and she would come over quickly.(+) Food. We got the $150 omakase, and it's a great deal! You get a good amount of kitchen dishes but also a good amount of nigiri. Fish is fresh, had some cool fish types we haven't had before. Sushi chef was super nice and chatted with us a good amount.Would definitely come again.“
“I spent my 21st birthday here and I couldn't be happier with my experience! The amount of care and time it took the chefs to prepare our food in front of us was a work of art. My boyfriend and I love Azuki and it's our favorite sushi place in San Diego, so he was so sweet to book a reservation here to surprise me on my birthday. If you didn't know, Kinme is an extension of Azuki and it specializes in Omakase. If you're a fan of Azuki, or if you just love sushi in general, you need to try this place!! We had so much fun and experienced new fish that we have never tried and we were so so full afterwards. My favorites were the wagyu tartar puff pastry and the braised wagyu. The scallop with uni on top also blew me away. The nigiri was outstanding. Every bite had me closing my eyes and I really just didn't want the sushi to stop coming. The service was amazing and everyone was so attentive. I ordered a hot tea and immediately after I finished my pot I was asked if I wanted more hot water. The chefs were very friendly and asked us repeatedly if we enjoyed the previous dish (which we always nodded excitedly). Right when you come in the ambiance is very relaxing and there's more than enough space between you and the people next to you. At the end, they gave us a physical menu of all the dishes they served us, which I thought was a very thoughtful touch and a cute souvenir to remember my 21st birthday dinner. (pictures and menu was from 2/28, which is a towards the end of their winter menu. Their spring menu might be a little different!)“
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What an amazing place! Food & service were beyond great! We do not have special diets vegan, SF, GF). We just stopped in because it was a place on the way home. We knew nothing going in and came out huge fans! So much flavor & amazing staff! We'll be back for sure!!!“
“I love this place!! Have ordered many times and they never miss. One of my favorite places to eat, the sushi is phenomenal. The menu has all the classics and some creative rolls as well. The hand rolls are perfect and the nigiri is impeccable. I don’t know what their secret is but they have made a lifelong customer out of me. 10/10“
“Great ambience, small and quaint. Right on the edge of Hillcrest. The host met us immediately and was super friendly. No wait for a party of 3 on a Saturday afternoon. For starters we got some plum hot Sake which was amazing and Gyoza and Sweet corn. Both hit the spot. For entrees we had Spicy Tonkatsu, Pork Tonkatsu and Kimchee Tonkatsu. All were good with lots of flavor. I liked this place. Not sure if I'd make a special trip...but of your in the area this place is great!“
“The service is always top notch. Discovered this place about a little over a year ago and this place never disappoints. By far the freshest sushi I've ever had! Keep up all the great work in 2023. Compliments to the Chef Kevin and the amazing hospitality by the staff and the GM - Dennis. Below are some pics of the NYE menu items I ordered. The decor /lighting allows for both intimate moments along with inviting for group celebrations. They have three seating areas: the top floor, main floor / sushi bar, and outside patio (with pleanty of heaters). *This restaurant is the place to be so I strongly encourage you try to snag a reservation.“
“Got the crush orange roll, udon carbonara, matcha brulee, and rainbow protein roll. The rainbow protein roll was very refreshing. The crush orange roll - I think they forgot the orange aspect because we didn't taste any orange at all. The udon carbonara is best split among 2+ people - we got it with shrimp but would recommend bacon. The matcha brulee was amazing! Highly recommend any of their desserts!“
“This place was a pleasant surprise for me. The food was very delicious and we came on a great day where it was cold and rainy outside. It look a little but longer than usual to receive the food and bill, but the taste of the food, friendly service, and great atmosphere made up for that x 10. I wish I lived closer to keep eating here!“
“BESHOCK Ramen East Village is a hidden gem for ramen enthusiasts! The moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The menu features a tantalizing selection of authentic ramen dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.“
“I have been to this specific restaurant once before at this location. Area is busy, parking is hard to find. I went on a Friday at around 3ish. Dining area was not full. I was seated right away. Order taken within rhe first 3 minutes of sitting down. Waitress had great attitude and checked on me regularly. Had a great time , happy, satisfied with the plate of rhe month, enough food. Same great flavor. The best miso soup in SD.“
“First time there and it was packed. Didn’t have to wait as long as they told us and once seated, we were greeted by our service who was absolutely awesome. She asked if it was our first time and it was, so she gave us the run down and some recommendations. Annie was probably one of the best servers we have had dining out in a long time! I hope they know what a great employee they have with her. Food was amazing and we will be back.“
“National City & the South Bay area are quickly becoming a foodie paradise. This place is new to me but I really liked their menu options. We had a unique Sushi n Gone roll, some delicious soup & a nice side salad. Come early because parking is limited during peak hours. Family friendly tho they do serve beer. Great staff.“
“This small sushi restaurant is the place to be. I asked for sushi that would be unforgettable and I was served multiple courses of big eye tuna, aged wagyu, snapper, and more. I had the deep fried PB&J for dessert and was amazed on how delicious it was. There aren't words in the English language to describe how delicious the sushi was.Goody was an amazing chef who curated the perfect dishes. All around a great cozy atmosphere to enjoy the best sushi ever.“
“This is my new favorite Thai restaurant in the USA. The photos is what was left of my pad see ew after eating my fill. Portions are enormous for very reasonable prices. Friendly small intimate with incredible food. I got Pad Thia to go a different night and I swear the portion was even bigger. I eat for 3 meals.Wheelchair accessibility: 1st floor roll in and out off the sidewalk.“
“Came here on a weekday for lunch and sat at the sushi bar. Hane Sushi closes at 2pm, but reopens later for dinner. It wasn't too busy when I walked in around 12:30pm, but they had a solid amount of tables about an hour later. Service did not appear to falter just because it was close to closing... it actually got even more attentive, but not in a pushy "we're about to close" way. Staff here is super nice and I can tell that the chefs are happy to chat with customers to find out what they like. I got the crunchy salmon roll ($24--the menu posted on their website says $19, but that's very outdated) and the special ceviche roll ($27). Based on past reviews and pics on Google, the ceviche roll has been available for several years now (and should probably be on the regular menu), but maybe they switch up the fish here and there? Mine had spicy tuna/avocado inside and was topped with seared yellowtail, cilantro and jalapeño.The fish was verrrrry fresh and of great quality. The location and ambiance is also nice, but nothing special. I will say though, that the entire place was super clean, even the bathrooms.I think that Hane's prices are a little higher than they should be, but I feel like that's most places in SD. The fact it cost me about $50 for two special rolls during lunch is the reason why I won't be back again anytime soon. I There are other places in the area that offer quality sushi with lunch specials, or just more reasonable pricing generally. I'd still recommend Hane Sushi to others based on the quality and good experience, but this place is better suited as a date night rather than a stop for lunch.“
“Small neighborhood sushi spot with great sushi and sake! The sake specials are something to definitely take advantage of! Unfortunately the bang bang corn was not in season during my most recent visit, but we’ll be back in no time. It would be best to call for a reservation, as they do get busy.Parking: Parking sports in front of restaurant and neighborhood parking.“
“I would say hole in the wall but it's a food truck in a Liquor store parking lot and it's a pretty good spot. Fusion sushi rolls were pretty good tasting but a little pricey and a little small. They were cut into real small pieces like 16 pieces so easily shareable. The chicken fried rice is pretty tasty as well, a good filler with plenty of chicken. This One man operation-took order, cooked, bagged up and everything Friendly and as fast and efficient as could be. Tables to sit at and liquor store to pick up drinks, definitely could be on the rotation for sushi nights.“
“RK Sushi has consistently been my go-to sushi spot, and once again, it did not disappoint. I've been here multiple times, and each time I'm met with outstanding food and excellent service. Last night, I took a first date, and RK Sushi came through with flying colors. We started with edamame and the crispy rice appetizer, followed by the mission roll and the spicy albacore. The flavors were exceptional, and everything was fresh. To complement the meal, we had the nigori and a Kirin. The service was attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious sushi and a great atmosphere.“
“The owner was very kind and I came with my family even though I asked for takeout, the man told me to go with my wife so I wouldn't worry, he would take the food to the car, nice action on his part and everything we brought was very delicious, thank you ?“
“If you come to SD, you must try. This place is the real deal. As a self declared foodie who has travelled the world looking for the best eats, I fully endorse Taka. Sat at the sushi bar and had a great experience! They even have a bottle of Habushi from Okinawa behind the counter. You must ask them to show you! Pretty cool!“
“Someone give this place an award for A++ Service & even better food! After a quick survey of Hillcrest, we "settled" on a star that's been rocking since the 80s! We ordered the Chicken Bowl and Sushi roll combo that was on special just before Super Bowl Sunday, with an additional roll, and it was perfection! I know how can one mess up such a simple pleasure, but it's happened.. however, I doubt it's a normalcy here. The restaurant was quaint with seating both inside and on the patio. The music was soft and the vibe was spot on for a relaxed Saturday, for a couple or a group! Thanks ladies! Cheers!“
“We just moved to Little Italy area and we’re recommended Shino as the best local sushi spot. We went for dinner this past Saturday and I now understand why it was highly recommended! The sushi was incredible, the staff was quick and on point, and it was the best little spot for a great date night! We will be back and highly recommend for anyone looking for the best sushi joint in little Italy!“
“Okay so I found this place here on Yelp in search for a really good sushi restaurant and I believe I found what I was looking for! The ambiance is hip, modern and welcoming! The service is outstanding! From the minute we're were seated our server was extremely friendly and excited for us to try the sushi dishes! He gave us very good recommendations! We ordered the live uni and it was amazing! We continued with their spicy garlic edamame, spicy yellowtail roll, and half moon roll and all were impressively fresh! We are definitely returning to this place for good sushi!“
“Best Ramen in town! And omg the RAMEN BURRITOS! Must try if you have never had one! The only place I kno that makes them and they are fire!! I could eat one every day! Service is fast and great. Small place so they get busy during dinner time. I like to go at 4 when they open.“
“It gets packed but there’s an automatic wait list tablet they put out front; plenty to do while you wait 10 min in the area (like grab a treat at Calabria).Sushi is tasty and they are fast. It’s loud as hell but worth it. Riki is a well oiled machine of sea faring flavor ?“
“We are regulars here because the service is top notch, the food/sushi is excellent, and the bartenders remember us and our favorite drinks every time we grab a seat at the bar. The Rose Roll is second to none, the Ramen is bomb, and my partner loves the Lemon Cilantro Roll as well. It can get really busy late night on the weekends and sushi during these times can take a long time to come out (understandably) so plan ahead, be patient and kind. Mahalo!Parking: The ground floor of the parking structure next door is free for restaurant parking! And it has EV Chargers!“
“Coming on vacation from Tucson, Az, my 3 daughters and I came to eat here for the first time and were super satisfied, the food was very delicious, we highly recommend it and Mrs. Angelica Soto is super friendly and good people, thank you for your service ?“
“We visited with friends and ordered a wide assortment of dishes: rolls (Tommy roll, Lemon roll, cut roll) udon, poke, miso soup, and also tried several appetizers: crispy salmon skin, edamame, and spicy edamame, fried gyozu, and assorted fried vegetables. The food was surprisingly well done, it was clear that great care went into their menu and dishes. Everyone was very pleased, and feeling very glad we gave this place a chance -- we'll be back!“
“Average ok. food.,plus expensive for a little Sushi place. Not planning to go there often., also has menu options incase don't care for Sushi ? etc., the chef at the bar conter is great helping you w/menu. I wish they a had combo specials at reasonable prices.Vegetarian options: not sure“
“This restaurant has very fresh food made when you order it. The prices here, at the China China restaurant, are very cheap.Parking: The China China restaurant has a large parking lot that is free for all those who eat in the restaurant or take away with themselves.“
“This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. The staff is friendly and attentive. The place is comfortable. The food is good, my favorites are: no rice roll #1, #2, cucumbers roll no rice and one of my new favorite is the hot & hotter roll (shown in picture). I tried the sashimi and it is very good.“
“On a busy Monday night, my wife and I walked up to the hostess and requested a table for us + our infant in a stroller. Minutes later, we took the elevator to the roof where we were greeted and the table had a chair removed for the stroller. A server came and gave us water and told us that our waiter would be over shortly. The restaurant was super busy and the hostess noticed that our waiter hadn't yet stopped by and asked if we wanted to put in anything while we were waiting. The wait wasn't very long at this point but we loved the attention being paid to us. We ordered a Suntory highball that was refreshing, edamame, the Lumi roll, the signature "pizza," and a ceviche. The food was delicious and we were quite full from this. Throughout the night, the DJ was fantastic! We probably would have stayed all night to enjoy his mixes that had us singing to 90s, 2000s, and some current hits. Added bonus was a rocket that flew over us. The trail from the rocket paired nicely with the restaurant lighting for a cool image.“
“We stopped in for drinks while in the area and really liked enjoyed the vibe and decor. We can’t speak to the food but the drinks were tasty. It was a little difficult to get the bartenders attention to order another drink so we just decided to ask for the check and move on. It wasn’t busy (weeknight) so that part was a little disappointing. We will come back again for dinner next time and hopefully can move this up to a five star review.“
“Everything about this place is absolutely phenomenal. The ladies who run the show are sooooo focused and dedicated. The lady who took my order was especially sweet and emitted such warmth. Very much worth coming here, I will be coming back ..I ordered the tuna roll and Thai Tea with Boba .. best Thai Tea I’ve ever had ..“
“This place is dope!! After a phenomenal dinner experience, it’s earned our favorite sushi spot in Chula Vista.Happy hour Monday through Wednesday is all day. Lucky us, we had dinner on a Wednesday night here.Immediately loved the vibes.Drinks were great. I loved the mango martini with chili. Our food was just as good. Lemon cilantro roll was the perfect amount of fresh fish, lemon and yummy goodness. The crunchy roll wasn’t bad either! I loved how fresh the shrimp tempura is. We also loved the seared tuna nigiri on the HH menu. It was super spicy and had a smoky kick. We loved it!We were most surprised at the top tier service. All the employees were kind. Everyone greeted us when we got there and when we left. Our food came out soooo fast! I couldn’t believe it. All of our rolls were ready within 5 minutes of ordering it. Insane! Shout out to our server Nika. She recommended the spicy ponzu sauce and I loved it so much. The restaurant is almost like a club. If it’s your birthday, there’s a mini show with cow bells, a happy birthday sign, lights and all.“
“OMG! David is fantastic! He goes above and beyond to accommodate any request. I can’t promise he can do it for everyone, all the time, but tonight, he made magic happen and we loved coming here and being served by him. All with a huge smile! The food was delicious, plentiful and most importantly fresh! We recommend! If you can get David, you won’t be disappointed! ?“
“Absolutely one of the best Sushi experiences of my life in 30 years of eating sushi . You have to try the vero roll if you like lemon and citrus tastes. The service was top notch...if you have the pleasure of getting Veronica you are in for a treat. She's friendly, positive and loves helping customers improve their dining experience. She also knows the menu and combinations well.“
“This is a restaurant I found while on a business trip. The ramen is seasoned well and tastes better than what I ate when I studied abroad in Japan. There are a lot of them. If there's one thing that's disappointing, it's that the noodles aren't fresh, but the owner was very kind, and I'd like to visit again if I get the chance. From Korea to Japan“
“We found this place by chance, and absolutely loved it. Our server Katherine was an absolute sweetheart and ensured we were well taken care of without hoovering. The manager (or owner?) personally came by our table to check on us. The food was delicious, high quality, and plentiful. Make sure you order the Monkey Roll; it was amazing! The Sweet Potato Roll was also excellent. Please try this place out - it's worth it!“
“I love this place it is our friday spot. A couple of years ago i made the mistake of talking my 3 kids into trying sushi. Since then going to Ahi became more costly. This place is a great value for sushi loving families and the food is great. The service is awesome as well. You could find a more expensive sushi joint if you wanted to but why?“
“This place is seriously a hidden gem. They have a wide selection of sushi and other dishes, the price point is super reasonable, the service is outstanding, and the location is very convenient. My go to takeout order is the udon and garlic tofu. I love how they give big portions as well. I will definitely be returning here and making it a point to try some of their other dishes as well!“
“It's my first time having food here, i ordered the rainbow roll and the fish tasted nice and refreshing as all fish should. I also had chicken teriyaki bowl and I was planning on saving it for lunch but after one bite of the chicken, I have no leftovers for tomorrow I will definitely have to try more from their menu“
“Great sushi spot in Lemon Grove. Decent prices and fresh made sushi with good service. I’ve been several times over the past few years and would go back for sure.Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian rolls. I’m actually vegan and I still thoroughly enjoy eating here. The veggie roll is delicious.Parking: The parking out front stretches along the shops. Easy to park usually.Kid-friendliness: I’ve taken my son as a baby and most recently as a 7 year old. He loves it. His favorite is the Japanese chicken nuggets“
“Cozy small sushi restaurant with great customer service and great fresh sushi. The prices are reasonable and the menu is huge with many meal options other than sushi. I love getting the hot saki with my sushi meal. There are just a limited amount of tables inside so you may have to wait on busy evenings. They also offer take out and many take advantage of that.Parking: I have never had a parking problem here although you may have to navigate around the long line of traffic for in and out nearby.“
“This is a nice little pho and sushi restaurant tucked away at 6th after the freeway on ramp. Sushi and pho are the perfect SoCal combo. I ordered a large bowl of the House special pho (pho dac biet), a small hot sake, and a rainbow roll.Everything was delicious and I was stuffed. The sushi was skillfully and quickly prepared and the deluxe pho had great soup with the right saltiness. On top of that the place is spacious with incredibly high ceilings, great big TVs and cool lights.I'll be back again and I'm sure the spot may be perfect for karaoke, a games night, or even watching sports games or Ru Paul's Drag Race.“
“Amazing food and the service is great. Tried the spicy garlic edamame and the Islander Sampler to start. They were both perfect. The Sampler has empanadas that are so crispy on the outside and filled with chicken and rice ?. The teriyaki chicken wings had plenty of meat and really good sauce on them. There were also beef lumpia and shrimp patties, both cooked perfectly. For the main course, I got the Chamorro Combo. Uncle Franks pork ribs were so tender. The chicken kelaguen was ok. It was my first time trying it, and I think the rest of the dishes impressed me more. We got red rice and if you get that too ask for Finade sauce and pour that over the red rice. I went for the side salad instead of the mashed potatoes, and the dressing for the salad was great. Overall amazing food that I would highly recommend ? ?“
