Restaurantji's Burlingame picks for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“Excellent and affordable tacos in downtown Burlingame.Quality: 5Value: 5Service: 4Ambience: N.A.They have $2-3 tacos that are AWESOME. Every flavor we got was great except the chicken. Good carne asada, good al pastor, and they have cabesa most days, too. It's hard to complain at this price!Yes, they only speak Spanish, and yes, the parking lot is only for the mechanic shop (and the mechanic will shoo you out if you try to park there). But for just picking up amazing tacos at amazing prices, who cares about ambience? Our new go to spot to avoid the bougie nonsense of Burlingame avenue.“
“Myself and my husband were looking for a place with good Mexican food and a sports bar all in one. Omg. I googled and came upon this restaurant and we were so amazed. The food was something to brag about. The flavors, the portion sizes and the atmosphere was great. Not too pricey either. Long story short, we came home and got in the bed to watch the game. Soooooooo satisfied!“
“In search of a late lunch and the gorditas here caught my attention. Order comes with 2, and I went with the chicharon. May look small, but it was filling. Loved the texture of the crispy masa shell. Flavors of the inside was good, too - would've liked more of the chicharon. I'd definitely return as there are other menu items I'd like to try.“
“Cuban Overall: A very solid option for Cuban food in the Bay Area.Would I come back: Yes indeed I’ll be back. The extended review…Food:Ropa Vieja - 4/5 - A very solid dish! It’s hard to find this dish in the Bay Area so when I found it I was very happy. - Friendly and attentive service. - A cute little spot with some indoor and outdoor seating.“
“Came here last night on my home. I ordered the chicken enchiladas plate with green sauce and super carne nachos. Well seasoned and delicious. Chatting with the lady at the register and one of the cooks who I think were the owners while waiting for my food. Very nice folks. I will be back to try the other items.“
“Oh El Metate!!! The best Mexican taqueria in the peninsula. Look no further this place is a the closest thing to being in Mexico. The decor is awesome, it is clean and the service is above expectations. There are no better chorizo tacos anywhere, I promised! They have a good variety of meats and all of them are well prepared and always hot. The pinto beans and cheese burrito is my ten year old son's favorite! It is tasty and fresh. We try another taquerias around the neighborhood and they aren't bad, but el Metate is way above the rest.“
“We ate at La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana. It was nice. I thought it would be a bit fancier because I saw it recommended somewhere. The seafood dish with different kinds was really good, especially the shrimp. The tacos cost $6 each, which seemed a lot, but they tasted great. The chips were the best part—they were not greasy and very crunchy. They gave us two kinds of sauce; the green one was the best. The cold beer was also really good with the food. Even though I expected something a bit different, we liked it a lot and want to go back to try more dishes.“
“I am from SoCal, so I tend to compare it to my local restaurants. With that said, it is definitely good but definitely not 45 mins to 1 hr wait for the food. I can get the same @ Pepe in SoCal in 10 mins or less. That would be my only complaint. The food is definitely delicious. If you are in a hurry, you will be disappointed with the long wait. Their asada was really good.Basically no parking except street parking and that was limited.“
“Aesthetically pleasing! We had to return this second time - the service and food was constant with the first visit. For starters we had the tator tots w/elote - such a great combo!! We enjoyed the salbutes with the perfectly seasoned carne asada as well as the tacos. They're drinks can't miss!!“
“The small shop offers a large selection of foods in the menu with interesting Mexican drinks on the shelf. The host is very friendly. I ordered a Latin bowl, and it is tasty, healthy in a big portion. Will certainly come back to try other items.“
“I absolutely love this place, the food is great, good quality and reasonably priced.I frequently order for lunch or dinner, and food is always SO GOOD.Visited the place for the first time and is a very clean place, with good energy, and these lovely ladies that were on top of my order and treated me like a queen.Highly recommend the Super Burritos (is my favorite dish here) and quite unique, have not found another place as good as them.“
“I had the pork cochinita pibil burrito and it was delicious! It was not overpowered by the typical sour cream, lettuce or cheese. The chicken adobo was exquisite! The chicken was so flavorful, tender and juicy! We will definitely come back to try other dishes. Thanks Chef Arturo for introducing us to Mayan/Yukatan cuisine!“
“¡¡¡I, delighted, happy, always come to enjoy a tasty, delicious American breakfast and their American hamburgers, American food. Excellent service and fresh food, high quality ingredients. I recommend it, come taste and see for yourself the delicious flavor, kindness, attention and more!!!“
“This was a special treat because I hadn't decided on where to eat and we figured that's pop in here when the other place that I wanted to go was full and so it was a pleasant Experience for all that it served -- great food, great ambience, lovely presentation and very pleasant folks who attended to our every request. While we were having brunch I wasn't too keen on having a tequila; which is part of what they also offer and they have their own distillery and make some of the finest mescal according to the owner who was also there. Overall a great place for any occasion. #TheBrokerWithAHeartParking: Small lot which fills up fast.“
“I'm a loyal customer of the Zumix juice truck on El Camino and by random chance I decided to walk over to Jovanni's taco truck (parked right next to each other). I started off light with the first visit and ordered a plain carne asada taco with no salsa or fixings. I personally always want to see if an establishment has good meat and a tortilla for a foundation. My next visit I ventured to the Carne Asada Super Taco and I fell in love. The flavors from the salsa and meat are perfectly balanced, the perfectly grilled tortilla has a bit of a nice char to it and lastly the cheese melt on the tortilla isn't overwhelming. I also enjoy the fresh cucumbers they serve with it and the grilled onions on the side. I come here 1-2 times a week now it's just absolutely worth your time to stop and grab a bite.“
“I am from Texas and we have amazing Mexican food there, but las chiquitas exceeded my expectations! I had the chicken chile relleno, and it was delicious! I love their pozole too’ you can’t go wrong with this place! Great food, prices and service!“
“I recently visited Chevys during happy hour and had the pleasure of being served by Daniel. his service was exceptional! He was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations for drinks. The drinks were delicious. I'll definitely be coming back, thanks to the amazing service provided by Daniel!“
“I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Their food is exceptional and their service is 10/10. They recognized me from a previous time and comped my meal because they gave me the wrong order last time. Thank you so much, guys! My favorite Mexican spot from now on. Homemade tortillas are also amazing!“
“Their tacos hit a little different. It’s hard to explain but their flavor and salsa combination on their tacos resonate with me. Give them a shot, get at least 1 taco, customize it how you like, if you don’t like spice, ask for green salsa. Prices haven’t gone up over the years, great restaurant.“
“I think I found my new go-to spot for authentic mexican eats and groceries and catering. I'm actually astonished that I passed by this gem my entire life. Street parking might be tricky depending on the time of day. There is also the Miller Ave Garage if you are willing to walk 2-3 blocks.Everyone moves FAST in this little storefront. Next time I'll be sure to look up up the menu before entering and stepping in line. Too much pressure! I really like their homemade chips/guac/salsa. Amazing deal and freshly made.Super Burrito w/ Chile Colorado ($12.95) - MASSIVE burrito the size of my entire arm. Half a burrito was already filling. Downside was the huge chunks of beef was very dry. Will have to try something else next time.Chile Relleno ($4.75) - First time trying this and I enjoyed it. Cheese was just a bit too thick for me. You can order it a la carte or in the burrito!“
“Damn El Charrito, you got me craving those flavors. After doing some grocery shopping in Colma, we decided to try a new (to us) taco truck which is located near the Wendy's in Colma/Day City border area. We were surprised to see so many 5 star reviews, but now I know why. We decided to get a couple burritos, my BF wanted a Carne Asada and I wanted the Birria. Both were huge and had half for lunch and the rest for dinner. What I really loved was the salsas! They gave us free chips with three types of salsa; a roasted pepper tomato that was spicy, a habanero that was also spicy but so tasty I couldn't stop eating it and the last was a green salsa that was less spicy but very flavorful.“
“Stopped by for some Mexican food and this little spot was surprisingly delicious! I got the super quesadilla and it did not disappoint. Free chips and salsa was also legit. No wonder this place was bustling at lunch. Best Mexican food that I've had in Pacifica! They also have a nice little patio in the back with lots of picnic tables - great outdoor seating option on a sunny day!“
“I had 2 chicken enchilada with refried beans and a salad. It was just the way I like it.Then you help yourself to the salsa bar for added condiments and chips. Also they serve a little sour cream if you ate something a little more spicy to cool your mouth. At least for me that works.“
“The food is good. Service too but is not a full service to your table. So, if you expect enjoy a coffee and refilled at your table is not going to happen. Because you order at front , pay and pick up your food at the front as well.Food is delicious and the portions are descent for the price. They sell chapulines too.Note: no parkin.“
“The best food from El Salvador are the pupusas. There are very few places where you can find delicious pupusas and this is one of them. The cabbage salsa was not perfect but acceptable. The papas con chicharrón was well prepared and had a very good flavor but very little chicharrón and the tamales had a pleasant flavor but not to my taste“
“Literally a HOLE in the wall spot lol. Service was quick and easy, wait times were reasonable and there is a lot of parking. Because they only do takeout, it's easy to pop in and out. The Beef Birria was so good; full of flavor and meaty. The taco was thick and cheesy. So glad we found this! I highly recommend this place!“
“Family-owned Peruvian Restaurant. We tried the Saltado with Beef Tenderloin and the Beef Empanadas. The Beef Tenderloin is tender and delicious. The empanadas are flaky and filled with seasoned ground beef. Everything is fresh-tasting. My wife and I shared this meal and it was much more than two of us could eat.Parking: The restaurant is on the corner of Falcon Ridge Parkway and Bertha Howe Avenue. Park in the Mohave Dermatology parking area and walk to L.A.M.A. The door to the restaurant is on the Falcon Ridge Parkway side.“
“The place is small, but the food is decent. I purchased one wet burrito and 2 super burritos. The super burritos suppsed to come with cheese and everything, but it didn't have any cheese in it. Nonetheless, the wet burrito is quite tasty.“
“This is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in the entire SF Bay Area. And I would say it comes super close to being San Diego level. The waffle fries are amazing. Super good portion sizes. The breakfast burritos are super filling too and they put waffle fries in them which is a super nice touch.I love their orange sauce too.“
“The caldo de pollo (Monday's only) and caldo de res (Tuesday and Friday only) here is amazing. Agua fresca flavors are delicious too. If you go there for lunch dine in, it's best to go early or later (not exactly at 12) or get takeout.“
“I haven't been here in more than adecade . The food is STILL as good as it ever was. The only change is the inflated prices post COVID-19. A reg burrito was once $5 NOW $10 & change. The service is SUPA fast, the atmosphere is fun & upbeat and the employees are amazing.“
“Our favorite go to spot with our family! Good price and fresh food! their super burritos are delicious (I get the langua) amazing birria tacos, and bomb chile relleno(also the chile relleno with carnitas burrito is amazing too)! their carne asada quesadillas for kids my son really enjoyed!Free chips, salsa and other goodies are a plus!We highly recommend this place!!!!The only downside I'd say is no free refills on horchata and all other drinks are in can or glass..“
“Arrived by car 30 minutes before closing. We had a parking spot right in front of the taco truck on the street. I found this place searching Google seafood restaurants near me! It was to my surprise that it was a taco truck! No worries, we ordered the tacos dorados. They come in a plate of four for $14. They had avocado and the best tasting shrimp combined with the crunch of the taco shell! So good. Came with red salsa that turned up the heat. The tacos were like the kind of food that you keep eating even though you are full!! I felt great after four, but honestly could have had another four! There are plastic chairs to sit down, but it's way better to take the food to go. I'm glad Google suggested this place, perhaps it was the best seafood near me!“
“Came for lunch with a group. Greeted by amicable staff, quick service. Plenty of options on the menu for traditional Mexican food. Parking can be a bit hard to find, parking garage down the road. Ambiance is nice, indoors has plenty of seating, no wait time. Fish tacos were superb, beans were also good.“
“You can order ahead and I recommend you do so you don't need to wait too long. Oftentimes they get busy and don't pick up the phone the first one - three times you call, but just try again.I recommend their cabeza if that doesn't gross you out. It's very tender and juicy. They have a few parking spots in the back for pickup but the entrance is slightly hard to see.The location is relatively clean and typical for this genre.Parking: Enter from Mission. It's a shared lot with the housing units above and only had like 3 spots reserved for this location while the remaining spots are reserved for the residents. The spots are used as takeout only spots to pick up your order and leave. I think it's frowned upon to take the spots and dine in.“
“Not many places are like this one, one of a kind. 10/10. My mother who is a very picky eater had and amazing time here. She loved the food and the service. The waiter was very nice and polite , he told us about the rich history this restaurant has. I was just blown away on how good the food was, because it seem like a small place and maybe it wouldn't live up to the hype my friends told me about. Thank you so much for a good experience. 100% would recommendGuys just go try it!!!“
“Had battered fish tacos (slightly spicy with a hint of sweetness, not oily), beef tongue taco (nice char, melt in your mouth), and carne asada taco (perfectly done steak, not chewy). We got the beef tacos “super” which includes guacamole and sour cream, and it did not disappoint. No skimping on the toppings, and everything was super flavorful. Nice area to eat outside. The inside area is small and lacks ambiance, and the bathroom is tiny and not well appointed…but honestly, when the food is this good, one can overlook inside bench seating and hold their pee. The food is worth a swollen bladder.“
“Delicious and super fast service! I got the super burrito with carne asada and it was glorious. The portions were huge and the melty cheese paired with the crispy bits of carne asada was so delicious. My boyfriend got the wet super burrito and he loved it as well. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is clean.“
“This place is a hidden gem. Reasonably priced ($7 per sopes) for the amount of food, and still good quality. The sopes itself has an amazing texture and taste. After eating two, I was about to burst. I got the beef loin, and the chicken sopes. To be honest the chicken was mediocre for taste, and I liked the beef loin. Next time I will order the carne asada. The service is standard, but you can see the staff grinding in the food truck. Overall if I want a good cheap bite I will definitely come back here, but I would personally avoid the chicken. Update: I got the carne asada sopes, much better meat choice updating to 5 stars go get it!!“
“I have been looking for good Mexican Restaurant since moving to California 3 years ago. We happen to be in San Bruno and found Taqueria Mi Durango. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Jose he was friendly and smiled and when I asked what his favorite was he said fish and shrimp taco so I got one each they were awesome. My boyfriend got the Birria Tacos and he said they were the best he has ever had ( and thats what he normally gets) Everything was fresh and amazing. I highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner. Or if you are looking for an event to be catered.“
“Pretty good food. Burritos can be hit or miss, though. Sometimes there is just way too much rice in them, making the burritos a little bland. Overall though the meats are flavorful. It didn’t used to say on the menu (they’ve updated it since), but you can order regular taqueria meats like al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, cabeza, etc. in your tacos and burritos, not just chivo and res.Parking: Parking in a plaza“
“Standard taqueria fare, but very high quality. Super fast and friendly service. Meat and tortillas are top notch. The chile oil is amazing and really sets them apart. Fair warning, it's sooo spicy... it will hurt you. It's worth it though.“
“The server was able to answer all of our questions about the food very kindly. We didn't have to wait a long time for our food to be delivered to us. All of our different dishes tasted very authentically delicious !Parking: There were available street parking spaces on the block , across the street, and in the parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: There were available tables right next to the front door .“
“When you see there is always a line of Mexican people waiting for food, you know you should check out the place. I usually get their lengua tacos, and I recently tried their California burrito, I really like the crunchy fries in it my only complaint was the portion of carne asada in it, a little stingy in my opinion. I think I will stick to their tacos in the future“
“Really liked my tacos!! Tortillas tasted soft and fresh, and the portions were great. I only saw 2 really young people working when I went(made me nervous) but I received quality service and food nonetheless :) I recommend the happy hour special . If you want spicy sauce just ask for hot, the medium had no spice for me“
“Elvis for Lunch! Pliny draft beer! First Wednesday of the month! FUN, Friendly crowd sang & danced as we had delicious Fries, Chili, Pulled Pork & coleslaw- Salads ? good!Parking: Small lot, plenty of street parkingKid-friendliness: Family friendly with kid menu items! Decor is makes for. Great game of “I Spy”Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of access- accommodating respectful, friendly customers.“
“Everything about my experience at Taqueria Tres Amigos was excellent! First the service was quick and the employees friendly. Second the food was amazing and super well priced! Highly recommend if you are in the area! They also have a free salsa bar!“
“Stopped here on the way back to our hotel for a quick lunch.Hot chips and salsa at help your self style bar was just the start of a great food experience.I ordered two different types of tacos and both were equally brilliant. It's very unassuming from the outside, but I can not recommend it enough.“
“We've been going to Gabriel and Daniel's for a while whenever we have sports at Murray Field. The whole staff there is so friendly. Plus, their food is just awesome. So when it came time for a party, we knew they would be the perfect fit. We worked with Leonor who was fabulous to figure out the menu for 30 people. I was happy to pick up the entire order to go at their restaurant, but they said they had an option to deliver and set up. I was not expecting much but they absolutely overdelivered and then some. They said they needed around a half hour to set up at our house, which seemed like a while to me, but I totally trusted them, and I knew they knew what they were doing. Sure enough they ended up being so thoughtful and patient were basically food artists in how everything was prepared and presented. Leonor and Gabriel brought frames with descriptions of every dish including a dispenser for the horchata. My wife and I were totally blown away with not only the quality and presentation, but how above and beyond we felt they went for our event. We had most of the items on their menu, including fajitas, quesadillas, burritos, guacamole, and a few other things. There were several different types of sauces and dips too. All of our friends commented how phenomenal the food was, and we were really glad to share a new restaurant that many of them were not familiar with. We hope the others will see this review and consider catering with them for an event. You will not be disappointed.“
