“Overview: Known among locals as the "Navy Seal Bar," this establishment lives up to its reputation as one of the coolest hangout spots in town. My visit here provided unique insights into the heart of the community.Local Vibes: The authenticity of this place shines through, thanks in no small part to its staff, who are proudly local and have a genuine warmth for fellow residents. The atmosphere here exudes a deep appreciation for the military, and it's heartening to see such a display of patriotism. Conclusion: The "Navy Seal Bar" is more than just a place to hang out; it's a glimpse into the soul of the community. It may not cater to tourists, but that's part of what makes it so special. Embrace the local vibes and take in the patriotic atmosphere—it's an experience worth having.“
“Loved this ROTTEN place...?.Service was spot-on for our large party of 11. Way to go Tiffany!!! ???? Food was spot on with ROTTEN burger and fries!Beer was outstanding on a Friday afternoon facing Coronado Bay!~Definitely will be back!~Highly recommend!!!“
“This casual eatery offers burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and good beer at great value. The laid-back atmosphere includes indoor and outdoor seating and heaters for chilly weather.Kid-friendliness: Casual spot with picnic tables and fenced in so kids can play around a bit.“
“I've been on a burger kick so my husband has been taking me to all his favorite places. I ordered the balboa burger and it was delicious ! Along with the fries , I really enjoyed the aioli sauce. I'm excited to come back and try out the different burgers. Everyone who works here is great ! It's a pretty cool place to drink some beers and play some pool.“
“Love this place. Their BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite. It's always the perfect crisp. I love all the toppings in this pizza. Very consistent. And their sweet chili & lemon pepper wings are really good. Packed with flavor. Tried the wagyu sliders but they were NOT a hit. Wasn't flavorful, kinda blain, basic and were so sad the tater tots had no flavor at all. But hella crispy. Atmosphere is cool, tvs and little bar top. The staff is ok. Overall, I'll keep going back.“
“Visiting friends in San Diego and this was one of my favorite stops from a night out.Drinks are awesome and reasonably priced for CA (I’m from the MW prices where cheap)The energy of this place was amazing! Happy energetic people who know how to have a good time. Karaoke was amazing and everyone had a good time doing it or just watching.Overall my experience was great and will definitely return when I’m back in SD!“
“I love this hidden Gem.Never had a bad exp. Always friendly clean looking employees. Good is fresh tasting and its very mod. Priced. Cant say enough goodthings about this place. My first time i had a waiter by name of Luke. He was very attentive and super patient. I go now for the fiod and vibes but cane back cuz of the service he showed. Great place“
“Had a great time at Goodbar. The bar staff was awesome, everything was reasonably priced. They had a food truck that was really good and that made it fun. We happen to be they're on a night they had music. The band was all original music and it was great.“
“Stopped by Bottle Rocket after reading all the excellent reviews. It was a Wednesday night which is Wings night (6 wings for $6) so decided to give those a shot. We were welcomed immediately upon entering by the staff and found the service throughout the visit to be prompt and friendly. You have to go to the bar to place your food orders and are given a number to place on your table for delivery. We ordered two of the 6 piece wings as well as a cheeseburger and an order of fries. The wings came out piping hot but a little bit overcooked. The bbq sauce was really good but the mango habanero was more on the sweet side than spicy which was disappointing. The burger looked really appetizing but was a bit average in comparison to similar places we frequent. Fries were crispy and tasty. Bottle Rocket also has an excellent selection of beers available. I would be more apt to visit them in the future for drinks than for their food because the service was super friendly and the vibe of the place was laid back and fun in general.“
“Come for Thursday for the $1 wings. That's right folks, just $1! The wings are pretty flavorful and came out quickly. I really enjoyed the wet rub wings, especially the Thai chili flavor. My least favorite was the lemon pepper, which was a bit sour for me. Are they the best wings I've ever had? Probably not. Did they hit the spot? Absolutely. Would I return for the great wing deal? Definitely!Great selection of beers to pair the wings with as well. Reasonable prices for all the beers. Great service.“
“Great for what it is. Was surprised at how good their tacos were. We kept ordering even though we didn't need more. lol - just had to wave our servers down to get refills and food when sitting at a booth. Was the middle of the day on a Saturday and not too busy; not a big deal, just play offense with you needs. ?“
“This was my second time going to Desi's after being introduced by a friend and let me tell ya, this place is my go-to for a drink. The bartender Gar recognized me after being there only ONCE and he is super cool. I ordered my usual Jameson and coke while we talked about when the cold weather would let up. I also nibbled on some potato wedges which are amazingly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. That's when I spied that they also make Detroit style deep dish pizza. I've never had deep dish and decided to try it for the first time. I kid you not, my taste buds did acrobatics. The crust had a nice crunch but also was springy and soft. The sausage and peppers mixed well with the sauce. Come here if you want to experience a cozy place to eat and drink. You won't be disappointed.“
“We were staying in San Diego for a family vacation. We are driving around, just enjoying the sights, and we were very hungry. We noticed the restaurant and decided to try it out. So this is a New Zealand Twist on burgers and other dishes. We order the hogs and hefers burger and chicken pot pie. The Red Ale was also good. Customer service was decent. There was not much follow-up after we ordered our food or when the food arrived. The atmosphere was kind of like an outdoor bar but relaxed. Prices were decent. The food was very delicious and there were no issues there. Obviously, parking is difficult since it's right next to the beach, but there is neighborhood and paid parking lots close by.Parking: There is local parking in the neighborhood, on the Main Street and there's also very expensive paid parking lots.“
“It was my first time ever coming to this place and it was a really busy night, however the bartender Jason made us feel right at home he made time for us throughout the night even though he had a full plate the experience was lovely drinks food and laughs. Definitely coming again.“
“Me and my girlfriend came for the first time today and we had a blast! Tons of the people from community were at the bar and we met some new friends everyone spoke highly of the place as well. Matt was our bartender and took care of us exceptionally. We had a couple margaritas and wings and all of of it was super tasty. If you're looking for a good place to grab a bite have a drink and relax this place is perfect!“
“Came here because other reviews mentioned they are famous for their fish tacos. So glad we did. My husband got the Baja fish tacos and said they were good. He would rate them 4.5 stars. I got the mahi fish tacos. They were perfect. The fish fell apart when eating it but didn’t crumble- It was cooked perfectly. Also got the Friday special of oysters. Literally cannot beat the price, $6 for 6 oysters! The oysters were not “cheap” either in regards to quality. Our waitress said they were special ordered. Not sure if they are always ordered from the same location but we had some from BC and they were fantastic. It did take a little while for anyone to take our order. It was seat yourself but order taken at table. However, when we did finally order, our food came out very quickly afterwards. In the meantime we were able to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean on the outside balcony.“
“Burgers and Sunday Brunch are absolutely what you should go here for! Longhorn is a great local restaurant. The small kitchen turns out some of the most amazing quality bar food. They have a fantastic rotating craft beer selection. Sit at the bar and make friends with Matty - he's the best!“
“If you want to have a beer and some food while watching some TV’s, this is your spot. The atmosphere is chill and laid back. You can easily have a conversation at your table without the need to raise your voice. They have weekly specials and the service is great.Parking: The parking lot is part of a shopping center which has a convenient store, Balboa Tap House, a sign maker, Sprouts, and a automotive parts store. Everyone shares parkingWheelchair accessibility: This place is located in a shopping center with wheelchair accessibility through the shopping center area. The entrance to the building is low and no impedance should occur when using a wheelchair. The Balboa Tap has multiple tables which could accommodate a wheelchair.“
“Great spot to have drinks with a friend or meet a first date! Love the owner Scott really down to earth guy. The DJ Corey is cool too, he will always get to you even if it's later in the night. He makes sure he calls up everyone that requests their song and is great at mixing up the playlist to satisfy all music tastes. However, be prepared to wait your turn for karaoke nights. If it's the weekend and very busy they may not have time to get to you by closing time. They will let you know when it's your turn tho and call you up to the stage. The lyrics are also displayed on a big screen and a tv in front of you. Overall great experiences here and fun times. Adrian, Matt, Charlie, Lexie or Alexa, Erik, and Aaron are all great bartenders and have very good communication and social interactions. Really positive vibes here and good for anyone looking to grab a few drinks while watching the beach across the street. :) Sincerely, Jessie J. Thackrey“
“Came to enjoy a good beer, good food and the sunset on the ocean. I got all of that and a lot more. Was solo so sat at the bar. On one side of me was a guy from the east coast that comes here every time he visits on business. On the other is a 50 year Ocean Beach local. Both recommend the fish tacos, but didn't agree on the grilled versus the fried. I ordered the grilled and it was very good. Plentiful portion and perfect balance of fish, veggies and sauce. The sunset was gorgeous, but it was highlighted by a daily Wonderland ritual. They distribute a tasty shot of a special concoction to every customer, ring a ships bell as the sun dips below the horizon and make a lengthy toast to appreciate it. I will be back to San Diego and Wonderland Ocean Pub will be at the top of my list of favorite places to visit.“
“Visiting San Diego this past weekend and meeting up with my long time friend. He recommended this place cause it was on the way to the airport. Place gives you definite dive bar vibes in a Cheers settings. Place was filled with locals enjoying a San Diego morning. Got there early and our waitress greeted me quickly and took my drink order as I was waiting for my friend. Ordered the moco loco breakfast-food came out hot and was very tasty. Got the chance to catch up with my friend and noticed how busy the place got but the patrons were greeted quickly and lead to a place to sit. Have lived in CA my whole life - driven past this place but never tried it. It is truly a great local place and will make a point to visit again.“
“Tracy is absolutely the BestJuan is awesome at cookingToday, whoever cooked the corn beef, it was the Best cut of meat, and cooked to yummy. I Loce this place, just be you, come and enjoy neighbors. But, for me Tracy is why I come back.lol“
“This was our second visit to this place, and once again, we were pleased with our choices. I particularly enjoyed the Cardiff tri-tip option—it adds a nice local touch to the menu, and the burger was exquisite! One thing that bothered me was the need to pay extra for fries instead of chips. While the fries were indeed really good, shouldn't a burger come with fries? The restaurant offers plenty of wine and beer selections, and the service was nice and attentive. However, despite sitting indoors, it was surprisingly cold, even with our jackets on!Overall, while I wouldn't give it a 5-star rating, I still recommend this place“
“A place to get burgers & bait and beer while you're fishing. Although technically, you don't have to be fishing to eat here. If you're walking by or you're in the area and it's a nice day, it's a nice place to just grab a little bite to eat, especially on a nice day.The prices are a tad high but let's just say having a burger in the sunshine is totally worth it.Parking: Plenty of free parking. It's at a park right next to a large music venue and when there's no music, there's plenty of parking.“
“In the realm of morning sustenance, I dare proclaim an epiphany: behold, a culinary sanctuary worthy of ardor. With each bite of their breakfast burrito, a symphony of flavors danced upon my palate, harmonizing with the ambiance enveloping me.From the moment of entry, greeted by an atmosphere redolent with warmth and conviviality, to the tender ministrations of the staff, every aspect bespoke a dedication to excellence. Gabriela, a paragon of hospitality, graced our table with her presence. Her attentiveness bespoke not only of professional acumen but of a genuine reverence for the patronage bestowed upon her domain.I have found not merely a breakfast respite but a sanctuary of culinary delight, where gastronomy and hospitality converge to orchestrate an experience unparalleled in its splendor.“
“You will love this dive bar. Great food (in particular wings, fish tacos, burger special) In fact I'd say this bar has oddly delicious bar food. Also friendly cool bartenders and best prices around. Cold beer and no bullshit. The crowd can look freaky but they're all secretly nice people and friendly. This has been my favorite bar for years, even when I lived in 92109 and 92103. Outdoor and indoor seating, dogs okay and kids okay til 8 pm. Def the best dive bar in OB and one of my all time favorite bars for life.“
“Panama 66 offers a vibrant atmosphere that's hard to beat, complete with live jazz bands, a wide array of local craft brews, and a decent food selection. The ambiance sets the perfect backdrop for a chill evening with friends or a laid-back date night. While my tuna melt did taste a bit off, the friendly staff and overall great vibe more than made up for it. Whether you're a jazz enthusiast, a beer aficionado, or just looking for a cool hangout spot, Panama 66 delivers on all fronts. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.“
“My partner and I LOVE this place for their burgers, they always come out perfect. I have no complaints about this establishment, their quality food, or the wonderful people that run it, (Bruce is the sweetest.)However *WARNING FOR ORDERING DELIVERY* through any of the apps like Uber. Many drivers are shady and dishonest and will STEAL your order and you will only find out about it an hour later when customer service calls you to cancel your order without any consequences or accountability. This is highly frustrating when you have made plans around your dinner just to have it canceled and you have to waste time and make last minute adjustments, but it’s not the fault of the restaurant at all. There is no way to report this kind of issue with the Uber delivery platform, or to have the driver take responsibility for their theft. But don’t let the shady delivery drivers deter anyone from trying this restaurant, because it is a great experience for some great eats.Love, a loyal boomerang customer“
“Love this place!!! I have been coming here since 2014 for March Madness and LeAnn and her staff have always taken care of me and our crew who come about 20 deep! The drink are flowing, the food is excellent and the service is outstanding!!!!!“
“I decided to order takeout here because the Mr. Peabody's in Encinitas wasn't picking up & I live closer to this location on Friars Rd than the one located next to Moonlight Beach. Based on their menu, I ordered the NY Steak because it comes with potatoes and salad for under $20. The food was great but nothing mind-blowing. It's just your average diner food with super nice staff. Compared to the Encinitas location, the waitresses here look calm and relaxed. It was also a lot brighter & quieter so you're able to look at the menu without squinting. Unfortunately, they don't have live music in this location but they did have the basketball game playing on the television so I'll definitely be back to watch a game here sometime soon. Price: $$ Location: Close to Fashion Valley Mall Service: Friendly and attentive Parking: Plenty of spots after 8 pm Recommendations: I would go here for the chill & friendly bar atmosphere. They do cater to an older crowd.“
“Omg I wish I had a picture of the chicken nugs ...let me tell you, I can no longer get chicken nugs or tenders anywhere but HERE for the rest of my life lol. They are brined in pickle juice, then dipped into buttermilk batter and fried!!!! It's out of this world. They arcade games, pool, ping pong, tons of games, a lot of fun! I cannot wait to come back! Definitely worth driving out of PB into Downtown!Kid-friendliness: Before 8pm I believe... Not sure... Our kids were at home! Date night“
“We recently stopped into Bootlegger for a bite and a beverage. Shasta waited on us and was an excellent server. We decided to split a build a burger and ordered a beer each. The burger was enormous and delicious - Thursdays they are on special and you can get as many toppings as you like with no up charges. It’s a good deal. The fries were a bit disappointing because they weren’t crispy enough and kind of soft/limp. It wasn’t super busy the day we went but I imagine during baseball season or weekends it gets pretty crowded there. Bootlegger has a large selection of brews on top. We will definitely be back again.“
“Our bartender really wanted to find drinks we would enjoy. She made me a wonderful drink called the white girl which I am and it was delicious. This is the oldest bar in san diego. Check it out beautiful bar back and lots of memorabilia. Walk onto history and just soak up all those who came before you.“
“This place is cute and fun! Definitely for frog lovers, although I forgot to ask if they serve frog food. We had the quesadillas, cheeseburger, and Key Lime Pie. The cheeseburger was so-so. The quesadilla was amazing! It was encrusted with a cheese wrap around the tortilla fixings, and made it super crunchy and flavorful. The Key Lime Pie was perfect, so cute in its own individual serving, and lots of graham cracker crust. Very fresh.“
“I was recently visiting San Diego and wanted to check out some bars. A friend and I decided on Gossip Grill during saint patties day! What an experience and the service was incredible! Drew quickly became one of my favorite bartenders. Great conversation , great drinks and great atmosphere.“
“I came to Coronado to visit a friend and we decided to go to dinner here at The Tavern. We had heard from other recommendations that we should give them a try.The parking in the area can be tricky. There are numerous street-parking opportunities nearby and it's important to be mindful of the ones that have a 2-hour parking limit and which ones are unlimited.I parked about 3.5 blocks down by the beach and it was a short walk. The interior of The Tavern is very reminiscent of an old Irish Pub of sorts. Mostly all wooden, homey decor, kind of an earthy overtone and I could appreciate the vibes.Service was superb, friendly & super-attentive ?I chose seating at a window booth, instead of a high-table.One thing to note is that depending on the season & weather, although you're indoors, it can get a bit chilly and you may still want a sweater.Oh and their bathroom was super-clean and that's always a plus and speaks to the cleanliness & organization of an establishment.I ordered the pork belly tostadas (street tacos) that come a gooseberry demi-glaze for starters and their "fish and chips".The tostadas were freakin amazing! Meat was cooked to perfection, tender and the gooseberry sauce lended a subtle sweetness to the flavors. The tostada was crispy & not soggy and complimented the tender meat. The fish and chips were disappointing however.Their size was smaller than I anticipated, the texture of the first one was crispy and the other two tended to be soggy on the underside (indicative of too much oil). The flavor was as expected & good and the tartar sauce was basic, but worked to boost the flavor profile.Unfortunately, the last two fish pieces were so soft that they crumbled when trying to dip them. The only big win is that I was told that they use fresh local fish and that's why I ordered them (support local fishermen).I just think that $21 was a bit steep for this experience. For dessert, I ordered the churros & hot chocolate dip and got a side of vanilla icecream. This was the perfect sweet treat!I got 3 long churros warm, a bowl of hot chocolate sauce to dip them in and the cool icecream complemented the entire experience ?Overall, I really liked my experience at The Tavern.Other than the overpriced fish & chips, my dining went well and the vibes inside are great for a date night or just socializing with friends.Kid-friendliness: One should know that you can order their famous lavender lemonade WITH or WITHOUT alcohol in it. So BOTH adults and kids can enjoy it!“
