“We first visited Tony's Jacal sometime in the early 80's. This place has been serving Mexican food for 78 years. We arrived at 5:05 PM and were told it will be 35 minutes for a table. We head to the bar, order a couple cold ones and enjoy some complimentary chips and salsa while we wait for our table. It has been 16 years since we last dined here. Hard not to reminisce of past visits to this longtime institution. Table ready, we order some drinks and dive into the massive menu. I decide on the "A Su Gusto" with a turkey taco and chile relleno as my food items. My wife orders the regular shrimp ceviche. I enjoyed my turkey taco and the chile relleno, although a bit eggy was tasty as well. My wife said her shrimp ceviche was very good and enough for leftovers to take home. Service was spotty at best and there is a charge for any salsas not included with the chips. Tony's Jacal has withstood the test of time. They are doing something right and to this day an incredibly popular restaurant. We will be back. Hell, where else can I find turkey tacos. Come for the nostalgia, stay for the turkey.“
“This is a wonderful, family-owned deli. The sandwiches are literally the best deli-style sandwiches I have ever had! The prices are great, the service is fast, the ingredients are fresh, and the service is fantastic. I have never had a single poor experience. Since this place is close to my office, I have to resist the temptation to eat their sandwiches every day! lol!“
“This is a good spot to get Mexican in Ocean Hills. It's conveniently located with a huge parking lot. Super nice people who greet you and serve you promptly. Servers were very friendly and helpful. The wall menu board is small and lengthy so you'll have to take your time looking at all over. The restaurant looks pretty clean, but is dated. There's a lot of seating inside and even some outside. You have to go up and order at the counter and then you can take it to go or sit down. The portions are very large. I ordered a Pollo Asado burrito and it was definitely more than enough for two meals. My friend got the enchiladas, which also looked great. Another had the tostada salad, which looked delicious. To go boxes/containers were pretty weak and unfortunately buckled under the weight of the food above it. Still tasted good but it was smashed. Didn't help to have my giant burrito on the very top. They have great salsa and will give you as much as you want. I thought it was good and I would recommend this restaurant.“
“Honestly, so far the best Thai noodles I've tried in San Diego.Simply put, Pad Thai is my favorite among all the Asian noodle varieties, however, in this restaurant, the undisputed winners were the so-called Drunken Noodles. They told me they were spicy, so I ordered them medium. They weren't spicy enough for me, so next time I'll go for a higher level. The Pad Thai here is really really good, with a perfect sweet and sour contrast. I have to admit that the tofu wasn't my favorite, but it was liked by my wife. The service was very good, we'll definitely come back!“
“Excellent rainbow roll. Perfect excellent Soft shell crab roll. AWESOME sashimi, ALL the sashimi was beyond tasty. Perfect. Shrimp tempura rolls were totally tasty and perfect. Sashimi came with the most interesting and wildly spicy wasabi I have ever eaten in my life.“
“I went here a couple of weeks ago. The food was so good and they have a bunch of different options for sandwiches: beef, vegetarian, chicken, and pork. I got the beef sandwich because there were so many options I was overwhelmed due to the fast moving line. However, as I was waiting I had a better look at the menu. I recommend getting the Number 6 Sandwich next time. When I was there they were so popular they ran out of bread right after I ordered so had to turn people away who wanted sandwiches until they could get more bread. With this in mind it is good to know that they have Pho Noodle Soup and they use real Filet Mignon. My daughter got the soup and she loved it.Lastly, my wife got the Fried Tofu sandwich and she said it was phenomenal. So they have lots of great options.Next time I'm in that part of town I'll be eating there again!“
“So so so good! I enjoy finding new lunch spots in the area because things get real boring and real quick around here. I ordered for delivery and I was surprised with hot and fresh everything came as well as the portion sizes. The soup was great and full of veggies. The zucchini sticks with the marinara and ranch hit hard, they were addictive. The pasta surprised me the most because I feel like it can be hit and miss at most places because apparently seasoning your food is hard or something. But everything was flavorful and a great price I gotta say. I'll probably dine in at some point because I'd like to see what their dinner service looks like and what the vibe of the restaurant itself is like, but all in all I highly recommend.“
“#1 the service! Great! 5 stars, excellent attitudes with a homey feel.#2 the food! Great! 5 stars, good portion, flavor and appetizing lineup in the menu.#3 the location! Quick in and out, then great to-go times. I ate in and was seated quickly with quick food prep. I have order to go and also with the food delivery apps and I have never had a bad plate.“
“I can't say enough great things about this place! First, I'll start by saying the food is absolutely delectable. They have a solid variety and are always trying new, wonderful additions to the menu. The staff is always so incredibly warm and welcoming. The owner is one of the nicest ladies you will ever meet and she genuinely cares about her customers. I've spoken with her countless times after regularly purchasing food/beverages there, and I am so impressed at what an incredible edition this is to the library. I highly recommend if you're in the area to stop by and check out Chapters Café, you won't be disappointed.“
“The Carne Asada taco is delicious! It was about six dollars and it was a good size taco. The staff was very friendly and it was a good place to watch the Super Bowl. The dining area was small, but ample, and there was plenty of parking. I will definitely be returning to try their other options.“
“This review is a little overdue, but it's definitely well deserved. We went here last Saturday while visiting San Diego, it was a hole-in-the-wall place that we didn't know what to expect. We were greeted immediately upon entering, there were several older Asian guys eating alone in there- that's when you know the food is good. We were then given this menu that looks at least 10 years old- also another sign that a Asian restaurant is delicious. Been making the same exact food for years and still works! A large bowl of pho with everything in it was $13- you really can't beat the price. I have never been to a pho place where that they gave you THAT much meat before. They sure made it worth the price The flavor is absolutely fresh, light and delicious, like how pho is supposed to be. The restaurant was clean, no AC but the weather wasn't that bad- I mean you've got to save money somehow with that unbeatable price. Def would come back. Officially my fav pho place.“
“Definitely a nice sandwich shop. Similar offerings to Jersey Mike’s type places but definitely fresher and tastier! The turkey and pastrami was very yummy and great portions! The pickles are excellent too. Service was slow, but the people were nice. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! Decent gluten-free offerings too!“
“We dined here yesterday evening for my daughter's Birthday. We were seated quickly, staff was great and friendly our waiter Ishmael was amazing and funny loved him best waiter ever. The food was delicious ? as well. We will be coming again Thank-“
“The food here is amazing. I highly recommend the Carnitas tacos they are super good. All their burritos and taquitos are good too. I come here every now and then because it’s a bit far but I would be coming here every day if it was closer.“
“First time trying out this place for our annual Xmas chinese food dinner. Have to say we loved it. We ordered the chow mein, orange chicken, shrimp, and rice. Everything was cooked wonderfully and the flavor was amazing. They ran out of a side of veggies and whipped one right up for us within a few minutes too. Will definitely be back.“
“Ordered the below:1. Crispy Pork belly- worst itemOn the menu- this was not crispy- chewy- microwave heated?? - was a 0/52. Spring rolls- were good 4/53. Satay. Chicken - was ok- 3/54. panang curry with TOFU- was pretty good- 4/55. Spicy Fried rice with chicken was really good too- 4/56.Drunken noodles- chicken was ok- 3/5Service- was excellent - owner lady may be- 5/5Place is very small, so plan accordingly.Food was good but for the fries pork belly- just avoid FPBelly- rest of the food was really good.Definitely recommend.“
