Apogee Brewing Company Brewery • $$
191 S Oak Park Blvd #3, Grover Beach

“Excellent beer, and they really know how to make you feel at home! The staff here were the warmest and most welcoming people, and even though it was my first time going I was made to feel as though I was a regular. The moon dormie was the best blonde ale I have ever tasted, so naturally I had to take a crowler home. Will be going back when I’m in the area!“

“Brew the Right Thing Locally-owned and operated brewery that's been serving up suds to Grover Beach since 2012. The Good: *Plenty of parking in free shared lot *Legit wood-fired brick pizza oven produced some nicely cooked pies. *Love their dog-friendly outdoor patio, which is a must in SLO County. *Great value for their "Pizza & a Pint Combo" for $20 The Meh: *Bartender was slightly surly for whatever reason. I'm not sure if it's because we weren't regulars or he's just normally a grouchy puss? The Ugly: *The Breezlejuice IPA was skunked and tasted really flat and just not good. I would've probably said something to them, but señor grumpus made me think twice. Conclusion: I'm gonna assume the beer was just a one-time snafu because I can't imagine anyone would drink that swill. With that aside, everything else was great, from the pie to the ambiance to the value. Recommended.“

Kulturhaus Brewing Company Brewery • $$
779 Price St, Pismo Beach - 1.78 miles

“Met the boss, not sure if she was the owner but she wouldn't let me have a bad beer or sample from the same glass to insure I got the best flavor to pick from the menu. We got the pickled plate and it was actually good. Pickled veggies, fennel, cauliflower and several other offerings. I do not like beets but these I would eat again. You can even take pickling classes at this place and sounds like a lot of fun. Stop in and grab some veggies, a great brew and meet the locals. The place is primarily open to the elements so it is a little chilly in the winter months.“

There Does Not Exist Brewery • $$
4070 Earthwood Ln Suite 110, San Luis Obispo - 8.85 miles

“Cruising through SLO on business and didn’t have long to stay, but dropped in for a four pack and a pint. This under the radar brewery may make the best beer in SLO. I haven’t come across any that knock IPA’s out of the park like they do. And they don’t even use human growth hormone to do so, Mark McGuire.Place is clean, well lit, with wonderful staff. It’s a bit of a drive from downtown, but well worth it. If you’re a beer lover and haven’t stopped in, slap yourself silly.“

Locals Taproom Brewpubs • $
90 San Miguel St, Avila Beach - 7.49 miles

“Local's Taproom is an Avila staple after just 2 months of business. Owned and operated by the previous taproom's bartenders, it fully embodies the 70's-80's surf vibe that is so needed in a small, safe environment trying to create a safe space for everyone to enjoy local brews and wines. Creating an atmosphere that is so inviting can only cause such an establishment to skyrocket to one of the hottest spots in such a small town. Although there are plenty of comfortable, vibey spots in town, Locals Taproom is a fun local atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all. Although they don't offer food, they are welcoming to the idea of inviting outside food to accompany their many local draughts (or drafts). As a pair of local owners, Local's Taproom is a must if you are visiting Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, or Arroyo Grande. In the summer, there is a *free* trolley that transports through Pismo, all the way through Shell Beach, as well as Avila and is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a beverage (or three) without having to Uber or Lyft between you and your permanent or temporary summer home. 5 out of 5 in all respects that are relevant to this quaint and inviting establishment.“

“I am in love with Oak & Otter! We've been coming here since 2020 and love it every single time. Not only are the beverages (beer/cider/seltzers) great, the staff/other patrons are equally as fantastic! Everyone is super friendly and you'll definitely leave with some new friends. Our go-to's are their unique seltzers and delicious pretzels. They're located in a more industrial area but they are a MUST in my book. Love ya, O & O!“

“Great addition to the Central Coast beer and music scene. They have trivia on Tues and really fun Karaoke on Thursdays. The owners are great guys and sing along often. But the hidden gem is its stage where they host awesome concerts and events. Some pretty big names like Agent Orange and the Adolescents. Huge TV’s for watching sports and located near other good beer and cider drinking spots.“

“If you like seafood, this is your spot. From clam chowder, lobster rolls, fish and chips, this place has it all. They have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and a whole wall of self serve beers on tap. On weekends, they do have a brunch menu available, but the standard menu is also served every day. They have two types of lobster rolls: The Original and a Jalapeno LimeWe got one of each and each roll was stuffed full of big chunks of lobster. The original was served either with drawn butter or a garlic herb mayo, but per the suggestion of the cashier, we ordered it dressed in butter with the mayo on the side. The rolls are $30 each but do come with thicc cut steak fries. You can opt to sub out the fries for house made chips if you like more of a crunch. The jalapeno lime roll was very light in flavor, and could have used more butter or a mayo to dress it up a bit. The bun was nicely buttered and toasted though, which helped. I love that it was topped with crispy fried onions for a little extra flava and crunch! If there is one dish you're going to order, make it the poke nachos. It's super saucy so some bites can be a little overwhelming. A little less sauce would make this even better, but overall, highly recommend giving it a try! The chunks of ahi tasted fresh, and I loved that they added avocado and seaweed salad. This was so refreshing over the wonton chips. I opted for the fisherman's catch so I could have a little bit of everything. This came with 1 large piece of cod fish, lots of shrimp, and a few strips of calamari over fries. This was served with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and lemon wedges. Normally I would squeeze lemon over all my fried seafood but it didn't even need it! Idk what they do with the batter/seasoning but I love loved loved that all the fried seafood had a citrussy flavor to it already. This would be a good sized plate to share! The staff were all really nice and attentive and we loved the vibes of the outdoor seating. Midway through our meal, a guy went on the stage to play some live music, so that was a nice touch. If I'm ever back in Pismo, I'm making it a point to come back for more eats!“
