Tho the neighborhood some would say maybe a bit on the rough side,,it does Harbor City prouD. It sits on a famous & for some a very historical landmark .. "Normandie & Lomita". A few steps and youre on Pch and Normandie.. . Favorite Doughnuts is in the right smak dab of HC . I would say that hands down this little cottage has definite, character & good vibes all day. I frequent there alot in the early evening & the night guy is always just a breath of fresh air to anyone He is always working hard with a very contagous joy to him ,& a bedside manner that is almost gaurenteed to make anyone smile. It has a lottery ticket machine ,an ATM,&even some old-school classic gum ball machines with all kinds of cool nicknacks that a quarter or two might getcha. They have great sanwhiches, chips of different sorts, a variety of candy for sale, even cigeretts, the best priced with in 10 a 10 mile radious,& hands down delicious coffee -& donuts. I give this place 5 stars anyday. This little joint has spaz, with some serious Cali swagg,✌️❤️ . ,?~ Heather B, a resident in Harbor City for 2years-“

“Hi everyone! I have been coming to this restaurant for years. I have always loved their tamales, their sweet breads, and their atoles. They are great. I have tried at other restaurants but the flavor are just not quite good. Come in and relax.....“

“Been stopping by Tommy & Atticus since they opened in July. The country, round sour dough is our family favorite. We've tried morning sun citrus pastry (my fav), jalapeno/cheddar sour dough bread, lunch pizza & sandwiches. Great place, great customer service.“

“Jongewaard BAKE N BROIL is a hidden gem; in Bixby Knoll area of Long Beach; that took me straight back to the 50s with its quaint diner charm and mouthwatering treats. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by friendly faces and a warm atmosphere that made me feel right at home. Let's talk about the desserts - oh my goodness, where do I even begin? The Red Velvet cake stole the show with its rich flavor and perfect texture, earning the top spot on my list. But the German Chocolate cake wasn't far behind, delivering a decadent experience that left me craving more. And don't even get me started on the lemon cream cheese pie - it's a slice of heaven on a plate! But it's not just about the sweets at Jongewaard BAKE N BROIL. Their breakfast options are equally divine, especially the lemon blueberry pancakes, which were an absolute delight. And for those craving something heartier, the steak and eggs breakfast hit the spot, while the burgers and onion rings satisfied my savory cravings perfectly. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the welcoming atmosphere and the owner's commitment to giving young employees a chance to shine. It's refreshing to see a business that values community and opportunity as much as they value delicious food. Whether you're looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane or simply craving some incredible comfort food, Jongewaard BAKE N BROIL is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Anyone saying otherwise is a hater! Support local businesses.“

“Closed on Sundays, go to the website to find out that day's flavors. They change every week. There is NO free tasting. There was some mention of trying the flavors so i thought there was. But i asked at this last visit and No there isn't a tasting available. The cookies are BIG and heavy in weight, they have a real buttery undertone. The milk chocolate chip cookie is my favorite. The chocolate chips are decadent. They are crispy and gooey. I toast them for a crispier cookie but it IS a great cookie. The brownie cookie is also great. There are many more flavors but haven't found any other flavor YET that i love as much as these two. The workers are nice, helpful, your order prompt. I would give those cookies an A- but that's because I prefer a crispier cookie. The flavor is there, i'd definitely return and have been there numerous times“

“This is definitely a worthwhile visit for breakfast, lunch, or snacks! They have a great variety of baked items that are fresh and beautiful. There are sandwiches and salads as well that looked amazing, although we didn't get the chance to try those. The pastries and cookies we tried were not astounding, but very visually appealing and decently tasty. Very nice staff as well.“

“After hearing mention about Gusto for a while now, I'm glad to say I made my first visit today and already look forward to coming back. I tried a Mole Empanada and the Pan de Maiz while enjoying a Salted Tamarindo drink. Everything seemed reasonably priced and was well-made. As I saw another review mention, I appreciated the stereo and turntable being used rather than merely being a decoration for the space. It is clearly a business but also feels like you could be in a back room of someone's home. All of the staff was welcoming and seemed ready to answer questions if there were any.“

“Visited this bakery for the first time last week. Small bakery can easily be missed if you don't know it's there. Service/ambiance was ok, didn't feel super welcoming..... service needs a little improvement. Maybe some light music might help, just a little friendly suggestion. Not sure about parking, I parked right in front of the bakery. Baked goods were awesome. We got a confetti cupcake, churro cupcake, red velvet cupcake, Oreo brownie and a cold Spanish latte. EVERYTHING was so good especially the latte..... I will definitely return to this bakery. Cupcakes were perfect, not too sweet.“

“After having been here now many many times, I can confidently say it s the best bakery I ve been to in LA. Much better than republic, or nearby sweat wheat, or anything i ve randomly tried that was not worth remembering. 2nd of 3rd best croissants in the US that I ve had (upper crust in Gainesville and Leo s bread in new orleans if curious). Location is great as close to the beach, in a nice walkable area. Not over commercialized, looks over quality store. It s a simple small store putting out great pastries. The stuffed croissants are very good. Passion fruit and lemon one are my favorite.Haven't tried their sandwiches yet but on paper they look good. The kouign Amman however, absolute masterpiece. The edges are so crispy without being hard to chew, yet the center so moist, filled with nutella at the perfect viscosity. Great flavor.“

“People that give low star reviews to places because “the line is too long” or “I couldn’t find parking” are annoying. Are you expecting a coffee shop to be empty in the morning??The drinks and food are great, the staff is friendly. 5 stars.“
“The process of ordering from beginning to end was so easy and fast. I ordered same day and was shocked at how fast items would be ready. Very thankful I came across redondo dog will definitely be ordering again. My dogs and their friends loved all the treats. Very easy to digest and no one had any issues and the treats were so cute.“

“Marsha came through with an exceptional cake for my husband’s surprise 60th birthday. She designed the cake exactly the way I wanted it. We had a 3 tier cake, each being a different flavor and our guests wanted to try all 3. Needless to say, this cake was a hit! Marsha’s Sweet Cakes will be my only choice for custom cakes in the future!“

“Such a nice cafe to relax and eat :D I was satisfied with my orders and the workers there! Ordered the avocado toast(They didn't have anymore sourdough and replaced it with baguette which was still so delicious!), croque monsieur, caffe latte with nutella, matcha latte, and an eclair vanilla. Everything was perfect! I would definitely come back here again if I need a small brunch :) this place was worth the visit. I highly recommend their eclairs, they did such an amazing job with them that I kept remembering how it tastes like“

“After living in Europe for 5 years I’ve been missing the bakery with in house made things, but I’m so glad I found this cafe because they have the best muffins I’ve ever had. Not dry at all. Everything else in their bakery I’ve been eyeballing because it looks just as good as the muffins, so I can’t wait to order other things too. Their pastries are a good size, too. And I’m also reliant on good coffee, and find myself craving the chocolate mocha I got from there both times. It’s not too sweet or bitter, it’s just perfect with a great texture. Will be returning frequently. It seems like a good spot to work on the laptop in too.“

“If you are a turkey tail fan then get them here. You have to be familiar with eating them or open to trying them once. They're pretty fatty but the flavor and tenderness justifies eating them. The rest of the menu is like a home cooked meal. The bakery is exceptional for its baked goods especially their freshly baked bread. Service is great, with much "aloha".“

“Came on a Friday afternoon. Found 30 min parking out front. Greeted by friendly staff who allowed me time to look over their pretty simple menu. ORDERED: + pollo burrito ($10.50) -- 9/10 some pieces of pollo meat in the burrito gave beefy jerky texture vibes, but other than that it had really good flavor. + bean and cheese burrito ($9.25) -- 10/10 "it was delicious" is what I was told. + iced tea Ran $22 dollars with tip! OVERALL: Prices are reasonable for the portion size. I would like to see consistency in the cooking of their meat. Lastly, I would return again if I were in the area and try other menu items.“

“First time here and they nailed it. Got the Bolognese sauce, very tasty and the pasta, curly long ones, were excellent. “All gluten free desserts! The most popular pastry is the Almond Brioche, it was delicious and different, made with rice flour, served slightly warm and moist inside. We like it that it's not overly sweet. For coffee, we ordered a large mocha, it's on the smaller side, but it's wonderful and also not overly sweet. The service was prompt and friendly. Environment was clean and relaxing. Outdoor seating is a plus, especially for dog-owners.“

Donuts and croissant were amazing, and the coffee was delicious!“
“A tiny bakery located right next to a small market. I've driven by this place many times and never really noticed it. I decided to stop by because it was open past 8p which most bakeries are not. Wow, what a hidden little gem. As you walk in you can smell fresh hot bread being baked. Plenty of bread options considering the location is small. I purchased bolillos, conchas, etc... Oh and a huge white concha (which is enough for 4 people). Conchas and bollilos were hot, even after 8pm! All were delicious! Highly recommend. Cash preferred OR a 50cent fee for cardPrices are about $1 each for most breadBolillos 2 X $1Large Concha $3“
“Oh my goodness what a hidden gem!Stunning pastries and lovely French sandwiches. Besides the things Americans might expect at a French bakery they have a diversity of more classic French treats and some experiments that' say "Californie" to me such as the double chocolate croissant which is a lovely even deep brown, every crumb of it -- had to buy that to share with my dad. The relaxed sunny vibe locates this shop right between Manhattan Beach snd, I dunno, Saint Tropez. If you are South Bay bound worth the trek. I'm jazzed to have a bag of their goodies to go.The cappuccino tastes French. Magnifique.“

“Squid and wasabi spaghetti has been my favorite for over a decade. However, it was fresh wasabi root with very pleasant aroma. Now it's a pickled wasabi and something g has been missing for me. Maybe I am just picky. But the 1 dollar salad and the refillable sweet tea is always must-have! Bread is always fresh and soft inside. I will still go back every time I am nearby...“

“It's now become a routine and I come here several times a week for a bacon stuffed roll + ice coffee. When I'm feeling extra adventurous, I would get an everything (sourdough) bagel as well. If there happens to be banana bread, I get that every now and then because it's pretty amazing. The biscuits are also phenomenal. I've tried everything now but the sandwiches and since everything else is amazing, I assume those are great as well. Service is always amazing. Ambiance is always amazing. Cheers to a great local spot.“

“I ordered a matcha latte and a breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel with egg, cheese and avocado instead of bacon. The matcha was mediocre because of the quality but the barista did an excellent job making it with cinnamon and honey. Just couldn't taste much of the matcha flavor itself. The breakfast sandwich was incredible! Bagel perfectly crispy warm on the outside and soft inside, tomato jam incredible flavor. This place is a hole in the wall so not much space to sit except for some benches outside with a stunning view of the ocean. I went early morning around 8am on a weekday. It's a great grab and go location for locals or someone stopping by the area. Baristas were very friendly and chatted with everyone which created a welcoming atmosphere.“

“This review is long overdue- LA has a few artisinal mom and pop mochi shops that have lasted for decades, and Chikara is one of them. The presentation is beautiful, these are not cheap eats as well. For $20 you can get a decently assorted box of mochi to give, they take cash only. They also prepare it differently depending if it's a gift or for yourself. Some of my favorites are the Kiku, Sakura, Nadeshiko, and Strawberry. It's definitely pricey compared to other mochi places, but in my opinion it's the chewiest compared to others.“

“Immediately noticed cookie making equipment along with flour and eggs: always a good sign. Front staff are chipper and willing to describe products. Chocolate chip had nice chunks of excellent quality chocolate - oddly hard to find these days. Peanut butter had good flavor but left me wanting. Chocolate-Chocolate with frosting was amazing. The oatmeal was frosted: not necessary and it distracts from a beautiful base. We paid $16 for 4 cookies.“
“You can close your eyes and point to anything in their pastry case and you'll always get something delicious. The quality in their bakes are always consistent, as with their attention to detail even when packaging up your pastries. My absolute favorite is their seasonal pommier, but I will always come back for their classics: sesame choux pastry, mont blanc, gateau marron. ilu patisserie chantilly“

“My favorite bundt cakes bakery! Located in Bixby Knolls, Bundts on Melrose is a cute family owned and operated shop. Their cakes are delicious and not overly sweet like Nothing Bundt Cakes. Each cake has a thin layer of frosting and is so moist. Strawberry Lemonade is an all time favorite but they have something for everyone. The service was great and seamless. I called in my order ahead of time as I was looking to pick up a 13 pack of bundts for my daughter's birthday. It was the perfect alternative from a traditional birthday cake!“

“I love pastries and I love bread and I love coffee. I also love that this place is so close to home! But I don't know if it's a good thing for me because now I am addicted lol. The women that work here are All so sweet and always answer my questions about the beverage menu ( which I told myself I'd try every single one) and so far all good but I am loving their gingerbread caramel latte and tried the chocolate peppermint cookie today and omg it is sooo good! Peppermint flavor is just the perfect amount not overpowering, like the lady that helped me said I cannot believe it's Vegan. My kids love their chocolate chip cookies and we enjoy some of their sourdough every now and then! Great little gem in San Pedro.“
“The kind of neighborhood coffee house that actually feels like it's part of a neighborhood. Community bulletin boards, bookshelves, sometimes local art. And a little bit of everything: coffee, tea, pastries, smoothies, etc. Offbeat and home-y despite its spot at the end of a row of trendy restaurants. (And it's been here longer than most of those!) Decent amounts of both indoor and outdoor seating. The kind of atmosphere that makes you *want* to hang out there.Parking: Most of the street parking has been converted to outdoor dining for those nearby restaurants, but it's a very short walk from the metered parking lot across from Trader Joe's.“

“This place is definitely one of the best in the South Bay! When it comes to boba, the milk tea is great, they have some unique flavors along with the classics, but what surprised me is the boba pearls themselves, which are ginormous, chewy, and flavorful but still come up the straw easily and frequently! What's more is the amazing atmosphere! This place resembles a cozy coffee shop with their comfy furniture and paintings, which is a nice twist! They also sell some pastries, which looked pretty good through the display (although I didn't try any).I would highly recommend this place to others in the area.“
