“A place a little more humble when doing a broader search for ramen places. In our experience (my wife and I) it’s sometimes those types of places that will surprise you. I’ll tell you about it…

Taking what I mentioned above into consideration, we could gloss over a couple of details to give the food a try. Such details being an outdated menu, no description for menu items, and being the only patrons at 6pm on a Saturday.

Overall everything was an honest attempt. The server was prompt, personable, and was able to fill in the obvious gaps in the menu. Gyoza came out strong, crisp all around. Rice for the sushi was soft/fresh. My ramen was solid and measured up to the servers heat/spicy warning. My wife’s bowl (presumably the standard pork ramen) was soft on the broth flavor. Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot, and cold was cold. The chef even slid us a complimentary small crab salad.

Would we try this place again? Yes, we would. Hopefully some of those glossed over details will change before then. Does this place beat our preferred spot for ramen? Sorry, can’t say that on the first visit.“

“What a delightful SoCal omakase that I think stands out really well both for being fun and delicious.

Sushi Sonagi is located in a strip mall on Artesia Blvd. before you hit the 91 freeway and by the early evening when you arrive, parking seems to be plentiful.

Coming in, I was immediately greeted and given a reserved spot at the intimate sushi bar. The sushi bar itself is really fun and full of small LA-focused delights like a bobblehead of sports stars. And the music played old school 90's and early 00's jams.

Behind the counter is Chef Daniel Son who does a wonderful job guiding the whole journey with a super friendly and laidback attitude. I loved how the ingredients are not only from his travels in Japan but also locally from the Torrance Farmers Market where I go often myself. Also love the presentation from the plates to all of the techniques he uses that you get a first hand look at.

Drink-wise, they have carafes/bottles of sake as well as some beer options. I opted for one of the sake carafes which lasted me throughout the meal. The waitress that was serving the entire seating that night was also super funny and laid back as well along with being super attentive.

As most omakase menus, this one changes every season. Here were some of my personal favorites of our 18 courses:
*Flounder fin: One of the best sushi items we had that night. So buttery and delightful. Loved the explanation and conversations as well around some of the facts and challenges around serving this.
*Hanasaki dolsot bap: Such a clever and delicious take on the dolsot bap. It's presented beautifully with the crab shell and then portioned out to all the patrons. If you wanted extras, the Chef is more than willing to accommodate.
*Miso butter atsuyaki tamago: Loved this extra little oomph to the tamago with the miso butter. Again, just buttery smooth with a hint of sweetness. So good.
*Chawanmushi: His chawanmushi was a great use of local ingredients like the summer corn and ikura. Refreshing and playful.
*Scarlet shrimp: Absolutely delicious and delectable. A bright flavor.

At the end, not only do you get the full menu but a really cute handwritten card that was a really nice touch.

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar in Marina Del Rey, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure we felt welcome throughout our visit.

The menu at Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar is extensive and offers a wide variety of options, catering to both sushi enthusiasts and those who prefer cooked dishes. We started with the Garlic Edamame, which was perfectly seasoned and a great way to kick off our meal. The highlight, however, was the sushi. The Spicy Tuna Roll and the Yellowtail Carpaccio were absolute standouts. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced and delicious.

One of the unique features of this restaurant is their sake selection. The staff were knowledgeable and helped us choose a sake that perfectly complemented our meal. It added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.

The ambiance is trendy yet intimate, making it a perfect spot for both casual outings and special occasions. The outdoor seating area is a nice touch, offering a pleasant view and a relaxed vibe.

Overall, Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar exceeded my expectations. The combination of high-quality food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit in Marina Del Rey. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon“

“I used to love going to Planta when I lived in Canada, so I was genuinely happy to discover they have locations in California too. The menu offers a fantastic selection of fresh, flavorful vegan dishes that make plant-based eating exciting, not restrictive. It’s fast, creative, and satisfying — definitely not your average vegan fare. The bar is impressively stocked, offering great cocktail options that complement the food well. However, the service left a bit to be desired. We had to wait quite a while for our drinks, and our server barely checked in throughout the meal, which took away from the overall experience. Still, if you're looking for high-quality vegan food with bold flavors and great variety, Planta is absolutely worth visiting. Just cross your fingers for better service. “Food was great but our server did not seem to care that we were there. The only time she came to our table was when we initially sat down and when we had to ask for our check. Unfortunate because I usually love Wabi and had friends in town. Their only comment that it was one of the worst serving experiences to date.“

“We love Sushi Time! It’s one of the best local sushi spots in Torrance. My wife and I will call in for pick up and it’s always so quick. We get the eel avocado roll all the time, easily the best sushi they have. We’ve tried the shrimp tempura too but the eel sauce is good. The wasabi is spicy but could definitely be spicier! All in all, highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for delicious sushi at a good price. Owners are really kind as well and sometimes give special service!!“

From nigiri to udon (curry udon has stellar flavor for vegetarian or non-fish-lover friends), I haven't found a single thing to complain about. “Since I'm a very picky Japanese food eater, I tend to avoid anything that might be Japanese where it's not 100% Japanese. That said, I do enjoy the Thai food here. It's decent and filling. The staff are polite and I like it because it's in walking distance for me.

I have tried some Japanese-ish food like the lobster rolls or teriyaki chicken. Those dishes weren't bad if you consider them more California Asian cuisine. The prices are what you might expect these days for a spot like this. They do have lunch time specials so I think those are worth making the trip if you're in the area and want some decent Thai etc or something different.“

“I have been enjoying meals at Okane Umi since 2016. They have always been excellent in every category of service. The restaurant has had its share of ups and downs but I am happy with how strongly Okane Umi has powered up its menu and added some wonderfully flavorful genuine Japanese dishes. “An amazing "conveyor" belt sushi restaurant with high quality fish and great vibes. I use quotes because the belt is only used to deliver the food to your table as opposed to the rotating dishes. It's located inside of Tokyo central and there's gunna be a long wait for dinner but honestly.... it's such a great market to wander that you'll find the long wait to be fun.

Almost everything we ordered was delicious, mouth watering, and satisfying quality fish. The salmon quality is so butter smooth and I actually recommend the salmon party if that's your favorite type of fish.

Most items are decently priced and you can totally get full off of 30 bucks if you order the lower tier stuff. Service was quick and friendly.

Tip: You don't need to order on the tablet lol it'll get your arm tired from swiping the fixed screen. Just scan the QR code and order through your phone.

Ordered a couple small appetizers and the Sushi Dinner deluxe for myself and the Sushi Omakase for my date that featured speciality fish of the day (chefs choice). Edges were not dry at all.I did check out the ROLLS as well, it didn't look as good as the Salmon selections.Please add additional soy sauce packet.At $14, it's an average price but certainly much better quality, thickness and size than other restaurants.
