Strange experience for La Jolla… walked through the bustling cove to get to Olive and Basil. The restaurant was empty, and the top dining room floor smelled bathroom; albeit clean. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but one of the staff members (I think a busser) seemed high on drugs. She left to replace a totally flat Diet Coke, and never returned. Food was fine, but will not be returning.
A charming restaurant with a stunning view of La Jolla Cove. The food was excellent, and the experience was elevated by the memorable dinner set against the backdrop of the beautiful sunset.

The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive.The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general.
