“If it wasn’t for Sarah’s recommendation I would’ve stuck with my go to, the short quesabirria taco. I’m so glad I listened to her. The filet mignon was amazing. If you love guacamole and parmigiano reggiano then the Puesto Perfect is for you. Big thanks to Sarah for being the amazing server she is and making our evening extra special.”
“We shared our anniversary dinner here with some friends and had a wonderful experience. The food was great and creative, the wine pairings were wonderful and the staff was amazing. You should note that the restroom is outside and downstairs so not very accessable.”
“Can't say enough about the food, views, and our server Ryan. He made a great experience fantastic. If only all restaurants had Ryan's.Every little detail was there including soft salted butter for the bread, good patios heaters, and great food and drink suggestions from our server.”
“One of the greatest restaurant in San Diego. A French gem serving real French food. The ambience is warm, and the staff makes you feel special with great attention to details, to comfort. We have never had a wrong evening there. If you celebrate your birthday whoever you are a regular or not, there is a free dessert. Not all restaurants can pretend to such a treat. Crispy epis baguette and butter balls are served for free too at each table. The bar is amazing, it is intimate and welcoming. Thank you for being consistent, hard working, welcoming and we can feel all of this. Thank you for bringing your support to schools, and other great organizations the way you do it. You brought so much to this community.”
“This must be our third or fourth time enjoying Candor. Everything from the service to the food is outstanding! Brunch was as delicious as dinner and I can't wait to go back and try even more items! Bring friends because you will want to share everything!!”

“Best filet I have ever had in my life and thats my staple when going out. It was fantastic, sat on the deck and it was a beautiful night.... (They do have a $75 baled potato on the menu that was a bit comical to think about, but whatever floats your boat I guess ! )”
“We have always loved Bernini's! Every time we come here the service is always wonderful and it's a great experience with the best food! We really love their breakfasts too, haven't had for a while because the timing hasn't been right. We'll be back soon. I miss the lemon ricotta pancakes!”
“Really friendly staff, pet friendly, and the food was delicious. The slate plates they Served the fish and chips (fish and friets) on was my favorite part.Idk I like things like that.”

“I understand why this place has such a high score: if you give a 5-star review at the register, before paying and eating, you get your drink for free. The concept of putting together your own plate is very nice, and I was happy to see some vegetables on a menu. The food was fine, nothing spectacular.”
“Everything was truly perfect. They accommodated our request to have a separate table since we had our newborn with us. Our sushi was great and the birthday surprise for my wife was appreciated as well. Will definitely be back!”

“What a delicious experience! Please do yourself a favor and keep the onion jam on the burger - I was hesitant but the staff talked me into keeping it. Wow, was it good. The employees could not have been nicer, and the clean and comfy seating area is perfect. Great spot.”

“Ordered the bagel with the spicy spread , mocha & cinnamon roll( from the French bakery )- outstanding. From the east coast, I was a bit shocked by how good the squaw bagel was. The base was not soggy , perfect toast and crunch. I’m back and still thinking about it.”

“Meal was great top to bottom. Really great attention to detail in all of the dishes. An excellent experience overall, which was somewhat surprising given how touristy this area can be.”

“We arrived for a late breakfast, and despite the busy atmosphere, we were seated at a lovely table in less than 10 minutes. The host and the entire team were friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast, especially the eggs Benedict and homemade lemon ricotta pancake. The espresso and latte were also delicious! We look forward to returning.”

“A truly stunning restaurant with wonderful service. The mezcal passion fruit drink was great. The food to me was a bit disappointing. For the price of the dishes I feel like there should be more flavor. I got the Salmon and while it was well cooked, I expected more flavor from how the waiters were talking about the food. The carrots in the dish were amazing though. The Peruvian Tuna Crudo was similar. I expected the sauce to have more flavor. The tuna itself was very high quality. The bread however was incredible.”

“I went here with my family visiting all the way from Sweden and had no expectations. They exceeded beyond anything else I have been to in the area. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the service as well. We had a lot of questions and our waiter knew every inch of the menu down to where the ingredients where picked. So grateful for the view, atmosphere and overall experience. Favorite dish was the smoked duck liver appetizer, and sunchoke entree. And if you have room for more the Nutella semifreddo was delicious!”

“Quick, delicious, and fresh, every item us made instantly and basically infront of you, the Burger was extra delicious, the fries tasted like real potatoes instead of this other big franchise ones, Service was great, 1 batch of fries was enough for 2 people worth their price.Parking: Close to the beach's parking, about 5 minute walk, other than that street parking, difficult to find parking even on weekdays.”
“Good service, delicious salad! I got the LARGE because I was starving but couldn't finish it lol. If you're looking for something healthy that will actually fill you up, I highly recommend!”
“This place is a hidden gem! The friendliest of staff and the most delicious coffee. Try the Mayan mocha….you will not regret it. I will continue to come to this delightful little shop every morning I spend in La Jolla. Great job, owners!”
“This was my first time ever having a lobster roll and it did not disappoint!! The food was so good, staff was the friendliest staff I encountered on my stay. Good music, fun atmosphere, amazing service, and unbelievable food! It was honestly the best food I have ever ”
“Food was good, salmon nigiri was buttery! Chicken Teriyaki skillet portion seemed a bit smaller compared to other locations though. Atmosphere was great, some tables even get an ocean view! Server forgot to bring a couple of items we asked for (sauces) but not a big deal. Overall a great place to visit, especially for the character buns ?”
“Food is so good. Best spot for a burger and fries. The shopping place it's located in is terrible. Parking sucks, drivers have no idea what they are doing too. Also it can be pretty loud in there.”
“Came here to do work and have a drink and the atmosphere is perfect for a beautiful day in lj to do laptop work.Great coffee and amazing matcha on tap which I was surprised how good it was! I also had their soyrizo bowl and it was pretty tasty! They have lots of breakfast and lunch options, more than any coffee shop I've been to”
“My husband and I took our baby here, and the food and service was amazing! We also got the chance to meet the owner who was incredibly kind. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!”

“We booked the Cove House for our Wedding Welcome Dinner. It was a hit. It was conveniently located in the middle of all of the action for our wedding (we got married next door), so all of our guests just walked here. The food and drinks were delicious (taco bar + apps+cookies) and the staff were so wonderful to work with. We worked with Juliet on the planning and had a dedicated team night of. All of our guests loved it and thought it was such a lovely space right on the Cove. I'd highly recommend the Cove House for any private event or just to grab a bite to eat! Many of our guests returned throughout the weekend for breakfast and lunch.”
“Great vegan healthy food. It’s nice to go to a cafe where I don’t have to ask if there’s any animal ingredients in it, because there’s not. Everything but a handful of menu items is gluten free as well. The set up is very cute. Plant lined patio on Girard just into La Jolla. Not far from street parking. A few blocks from La Jolla Cove. Casual dining atmosphere, very basic. Cozy booth seating inside. It’s a small space, so if you’re bringing a large party, I’d call ahead to make sure there’s seating room. Everything is made by hand fresh daily by the owner himself. The food tastes great every time I’ve gone. My husband is a huge fan of Green Door because the owner mentioned staying up the night before Christmas Eve to make all the pre ordered Christmas dinners perfect. We called a few days ahead for our Christmas dinner last year which was shepherds pie and Christmas pudding. So so good!!! All we had to do was reheat the oven items, and reheat the Christmas pudding in boiling water. The preparing instructions were put on the lids. Only took about 20 minutes to reheat. Literally the best shepherds pie I’ve had, and my husband thought it was so cool because it tasted amazing without any animal ingredients. If you’re looking for something healthy, Green Door Cafe won’t disappoint. The prices aren’t cheap. The ingredients are bought frequently from local organic growers. A friend of mine has mentioned to me seeing the owner of Green Door Cafe riding his bike back to the restaurant with a basket full of greens. Which I thought was pretty cool. You don’t have to worry if it’s going to give you a heart attack or make you fat because it’s all natural nothing is fried. Definitely worth a try!!Vegetarian options: The whole menu is plant based/vegan/mostly gluten free.Dietary restrictions: The menu is 100% vegan/plant based. Mostly gluten free menu as clearly stated next to each item.Wheelchair accessibility: Nearby street parking. Outdoor seating in front with plenty of space for a walker or wheelchair.”
“Reliable LJ dinner spot consistently serving pleasing food in two nostalgic, comfortable rooms. Also special for the original LJ Whaler ice cream cocktail ? Excellent pre-concert choice.”
“We had a nice late lunch here on a Sunday. Friendly service and great food. We both had lamb dishes. One was the Chef Special with sour cherries. The other was a lamb shank with rice. Both were very well prepared. The rice was perfectly cooked and not too moist. I look forward to coming again.”

“We dined at Mandarin House Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. The food was extraordinary and the staff made us feel as though we were guests in their own homes. Our two entrees were perfectly prepared with the sauces complementing the main ingredients instead of overwhelming them. The taste and texture of the accompanying vegetables were exceptional. We appreciate the attention to detail and caring attitude of the restaurant's dedicated team, and we will definitely return often.”
“Amazing ambiance. Amazing bread and oil and vinegar. The pizza was incredible. No price gouging. Food came out quick. The service on the back patio could've been better. The female server was good but appeared to be spread too thin possibly. She was the only server in the back full of people and the front had 4-6 people. I still give it a 5 star. I will definitely be back!”
“Absolutely beautiful setting and atmosphere, lots of floral designs and a really cute bakery! Loved the food, and the unicorn hot chocolate was so cute. The staff was so helpful and quick to bring out our food even tho they were so busy.”
“This is a real authentic Italian restaurant everybody's very nice and helpful and courteous and kind and our waiter, Isaias was amazing very helpful very attentive.”
“Brunch here was very nice. * The view over looks La Jolla from inside the hotel. The staff provided great service and were very attentive. Blooy Mary's, Mimosa's, and the Salmon Bendict were filling and very good. Overall, it is a cozy and quaint restaurant to ”
“1st time here to celebrate my birthday great service beautiful view and the and the owner or employee was so sweet to us 10/10 would come here again super relaxing music too (:”
“Hands down my favorite restaurant in San Diego. We've been five or six times and never been disappointed. Incredible aesthetic, excellent drinks and just delicious food. This current spring menu has a burrata dish that's phenomenal (sounds impossible but trust me. The strawberries are smokey and it's so good you might cry).”
“Very nice staff in a rather deli-like setting. The sushi was good quality with a good variety. My two lesser grades were to the avocados in an octopus ceviche -- tiny cubes nearly impossible to pick up with chopsticks; and "fresh" wasabi that looked more like a green salsa and not very tasty. Parking was a bit of a search since the block the restaurant sits on has been closed off to provide outside tables. When in the area in search of sushi, I'd definitely go back.”
“Really nice atmosphere; their outside seating is beautiful with a view to the ocean. The food was delicious and they have live music Fridays from 3-6pm at their upstairs bar with $10 Mai Tais ?”
“Great local spot with true Italian and seafood options. I came here with a large party and we had excellent service and great quality meal. I highly recommend if in the area and seeking Italian. I ordered the linguini clams and it was filling with a great sauce! Well done Osteria!”
“Service was excellent. Outdoor seating was great with incredible views. Food was fantastic. Excellent wine selection. If you are in La Jolla you need to give this place a try.”
“I'm a local and frequent NT. This was a big March Madness night so the place was packed and lively. We still got a 6:30 table and the servers were attentive and fun. Food came out fast & hot. Everything was as advertised. Priced right too. Love the place and will be back.”
“Darin was a joy! He was so kind and attentive for our toddler’s birthday dinner! He always asked at the perfect time if we needed something and was so quick to help. Darin is great and deserves a raise asap! He will be the reason we come back. The wings, couscous macaroni balls and pazookie were very good as well!!!”
“This unassuming, smallish restaurant is a gem. I have eaten there twice, and highly recommend the more unusual dishes - agadashi, yakatori and mango panna cotta dessert. They have a long list of wine, beer and saki. Their sushi is good, but not anything special. Service is attentive; they really take care of you. Recommended for lunch and dinner.”
“Amazing. I have never had Himalayan style food before, and I was impressed enough to snag a picture before I dug in! This was probably my favorite restaurant during my week stay in San Diego. This place won’t disappoint.”

“Sometimes they run out of flavors, especially the one you really want. I also think one cookie is a little pricey. I think they should sell the smaller cookies daily especially for kids. I like how they change the flavors each week though.”
“This is a true gem in La Jolla! Delicious savory and sweet crapes, with amazing customer service and very convenience location! The location also has outdoor seating that can be enjoyed in the wonderful sunny weather.”
“Absolutely love their pizzas and ambience. The staff are very sweet and service is top notch. Price is reasonable and good location. My husband and I always look forward to pizza nights at taproom❤️”

“Full liquor license for a handful of morningish cocktails.Dietary restrictions: They have low calorie pancake syrup.Wheelchair accessibility: better access through the front door”
“The coffee and bakery tastes pretty good. Barista was friendly. I bought some whole beans, although they don’t mark the date when the beans were roasted or an expiration date. To have the best of coffee a fresh roast and consumption in a month or so is a must.”
“We didn't have to wait for a table on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising.I visited the restaurant twice in a week. The food was good. I tried the Chilaquiles, the breakfast toastadas, SD Benedict and the protein scramble. Loved the crispy potatoes! It's a cute little spot for breakfast with a great variety of vegetarian options too.Parking can be tricky.”
“I love Sprinkles Cupcakes! At least the ones with cookie bottoms (ie the s'mores cupcake, the cookie cupcake). They are quite pricey (about $6 for a single cupcake), but they're one of the best cupcakes you can get. They're individually boxed so they make great gifts. You also get a free cupcake on your birthday if you sign up for their rewards! Sometimes their app is wonky though. They don't use their "pickup" window, so just head on in and let them know if you have a pickup!”
“Very delicious ? the burrito with grilled guacamole was exquisite, I had never eaten anything like it, the first time I went and I loved it soon, I will be back again, it's a shame it's about 2 hours away”
“Came here for a late lunch with three friends. Ordered pad see-ew with tofu, beef drunken noodles, calamari pad Thai, curry with beef, and basil eggplant to share (not pictured). My drunken noodles were top notch, although some morsels of beef were *very* tough. Our shared eggplant dish was great; nice texture and an amazing sauce to mix with a side of rice. As for the rest, a generally positive consensus—good flavors (but slightly muted), great portion sizes, and as authentic as it can get!Loved the hospitality, the silverware, the seating (which is cushioned if dining outdoors), and the overall peaceful vibe. Even though the location is tucked away, come here if you want a leisurely luncheon! It may even be a nice date spot too. Just make sure to bring around $25 per person; our bill split perfectly somehow ($100.44).Vegetarian options: Your selection of protein can be vegetarian (e.g. veg, tofu), but a dish can be vegetarian on request or from the dish description.”
“Incredibly cute, love the coffee, fantastic pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies, and very friendly staff. The guy on the register was super attentive and very handsome!”
“Super cute cafe. Glad I found it. It's got a coffee menu and a few food options. I got really good avocado toast. There is a decent amount of seating but it does seem busy so I had to wait for a spot. But it's a great view and the service is friendly.”
“The Italian buffet provided a cozy ambiance and enticing aromas, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The Italian sub sandwich, featuring freshly baked bread, crisp vegetables, and savory meats, perfectly accented with olive oil and vinegar, was a highlight. Complementing the sandwich, the assortment of pizzas offered a delicious variety, ensuring a truly satisfying experience.”
“Frozen Yogurt (Frozen Tart) I was impressed because it tasted the same as the yogurt ice cream I used to eat in Korea! The taro ice cream is also really delicious. I will come again ”

“This place is wonderful!! Great neighborhood friendly vibe and fun and relaxing morning atmosphere. Lisa is an absolute delight and we came back the second day just to see her and another delicious breakfast! (Not to mention the store inside that also has everything a person needs!)”
“I love coming here for a quick bite to eat. It's always very fresh and tasty. I've started to talking to the man behind the counter and he is so kind. My favorite mom and pop shop”
“Great location, staff, and coffee. I enjoy stopping here on longer bike rides for an energy boost and I’m always greeted warmly with a lovely place to take a rest. There is ample outdoor seating which seamlessly blends into the café, such a great atmosphere.I love the coffee here. I recently sampled a matcha donut and it was delicious. I look forward to trying more pastries.”
“Incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to all things coffee and more. In-house coffee roasting so the quality is on point. Açaí bowls are tasty! Will eventually have to try the rest of the menu.”
“Delicious! I've gotten the Social and Chili, and they were both delicious! The social is extremely flavorful but MESSY and greasy. The egg is drippy and messy but I'll always add it. The chili is also delicious and the pita is so soft! The people are super friendly and the price is fair considering everywhere else on campus is just the same price but smaller servings. I always go during lunch time and it's not too bad. There's definitely a rush but it doesn't get loud, and you can sit inside or outside. The food comes out fast so that's a plus for me since I'm on a time crunch!10/10 recommend if you're on campus and have time to sit down and eat!”
“Great, authentic food. If you like Panda Express, maybe don't go here but I personally think this is much better than Panda. They also sell milk tea boba! I was finally able to try this place after the students finished their finals and I've got to say I can see why this place is always busy. My only issue is that it's really expensive to eat here. They sell food by weight but it's easy to get over $15 for a plate. However, they hold happy hours during the week, so you get a slight discount there. Anyway, definitely recommended if you feel like splurging on a good meal!”
“This place is really unassuming, but the food is so good. Their wings are crispy, juicy and saucy all great things combined together. And their service was really quick and everything was very nice. Some of us got the sandwiches. Some of us got the wings and got different flavors and everybody went away happy.”
“Nestled within the quaint charm of La Jolla, Blue Whale offers a delightful escape with its classic French toast. Made with thick-cut brioche and adorned with a delectable raspberry and vanilla cream, alongside a tangy raspberry compote and a sprinkle of powdered sugar, each bite is a harmonious blend of flavors. What truly enhances the experience is the warm service, reminiscent of the friendly vibes of a seaside community. For a tranquil breakfast experience that satisfies both the palate and the soul, Blue Whale is the perfect destination.”
“Best place on campus to get coffee ( in reality I just really like their self serving coffee option, it doesn't make my tummy hurt )Dietary restrictions: I like their gluten free brownies yum”
“Some of the best juice I’ve ever had. They really take their time with preparing and measuring ingredients, unlike other juice places I’ve been to. Amazing customer service as well!”
“Someone in my office knows the owners of Oriste and had them cater an office lunch. I love Greek food but usually, the food at restaurants is bland and very dry. This is especially true for takeout. I was very surprised that the food from Oriste was the opposite. Kebabs, Shwarma, chicken, everything was good. I hope to visit their restaurant.”
“The atmosphere at Elixir was beautiful and relaxing. I indulged in a delightful cacao drink, along with a gluten-free chocolate bar and caramel donut. The owner was exceptionally attentive and friendly. I am truly grateful for the wonderful experience, and my friends were equally impressed.”
“Great location with amazing views! The pizza is very good and the sandwiches are great! The wait can be a little long, but there's great bar service and the views and activity make the wait fly by.”
“A very fun place to go but a bit difficult to find. They have great options for bases but a smaller amount of topping then I have seen other places. Their chia seed pudding is wonderful and they also have quite a few options for granola.”
“We stopped by a famer's market on a random Sunday afternoon in La Jolla and stumbled upon this food vendor making incredible looking food that made our mouths water, so naturally, we had to give them a try! They have an all-vegetarian menu which is what initially drew my Husband and I over to their tent, and when we saw the grill master cooking up some good eats, we knew we made a good choice! We ordered the chilaquiles to share, they come topped with soyrizo (plant based chorizo) and the red ranchero sauce and were the perfect amount for sharing. They were one of the most delicious chilaquiles we had ever tried, I definitely recommend giving this business a try!”

“A group of five of us went in October 2023. The theme was based on Edgar Allen Poe. WE LOVED IT. The decor, the food, the table set-up, the service, the show....we still talk about it. We plan to make this an annual dinner/show tradition every year.”

“Great spot in La Jolla if you are looking for somewhere with a view! However, the service was slow and the food was cold by the time it got to our table. Good drinks though! Hoping that next time it will be a better experience!”

“The irresistibly addictive nature of this food bothers me! The dishes boast a fresh and natural flavor, with each ingredient having its taste accentuated and seamlessly blended. It would be beneficial for the restaurant to consider hiring a nutritionist, as many negative reviews revolve around the absence of nutritional information for each bowl. Despite being slightly on the pricier side, this has become my new go-to spot, as the value lies in avoiding the time-consuming task of preparing each ingredient. I highly recommend giving this place a try!”
“What a delicious experience! Please do yourself a favor and keep the onion jam on the burger - I was hesitant but the staff talked me into keeping it. Wow, was it good. The employees could not have been nicer, and the clean and comfy seating area is perfect. Great spot.”

“Really nice atmosphere; their outside seating is beautiful with a view to the ocean. The food was delicious and they have live music Fridays from 3-6pm at their upstairs bar with $10 Mai Tais ?”
“I understand why this place has such a high score: if you give a 5-star review at the register, before paying and eating, you get your drink for free. The concept of putting together your own plate is very nice, and I was happy to see some vegetables on a menu. The food was fine, nothing spectacular.”

“Always tastes great, although serving sizes do fluctuate every time I go. The employees do seem to not be familiar with the limited time menu items, as I asked about the Basalmic Date Chicken and they seem confused about it and told me they didn’t have it even though it was on the menu.”
“We had a delicious dinner here after an event at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and weren't disappointed. It was only an hour before closing time and, although the service was a bit slow, it was professional and friendly. We both had the Baja Fish Trio (see photo), which was spectacular. Highly recommended.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp from street level to the hotel/restaurant.”
“Delicious Mediterranean menu with a great view of La Jolla. I appreciated the vegetarian options and the overall comfort of the dining room.Vegetarian options: While the vegetarian options were limited, what they did offer was excellent.”
“Service was excellent. Outdoor seating was great with incredible views. Food was fantastic. Excellent wine selection. If you are in La Jolla you need to give this place a try.”
“After waiting for a long time, my friends and I finally decided to check out this café we've always wanted to visit. We expected a big crowd, and yes, there was a line, but it moved fast. I chose a simple bagel with butter. It was okay, but nothing extraordinary . My friends tried something different. One went for a veggie scramble and the other for smoked salmon on a bagel, but asked for no capers. They really liked their food. The eggs were just right, and the potatoes were tasty. They also got drinks - a hot chocolate and a latte. They wished their drinks were hotter, but still enjoyed them. What really made our visit special was the view. This café is right by the beach, and you can see the whole ocean while you eat, thanks to a glass wall. I'd definitely go back just for those views! If you're looking for a café with a great view, this is the place.”
“Full liquor license for a handful of morningish cocktails.Dietary restrictions: They have low calorie pancake syrup.Wheelchair accessibility: better access through the front door”
“Food is so good. Best spot for a burger and fries. The shopping place it's located in is terrible. Parking sucks, drivers have no idea what they are doing too. Also it can be pretty loud in there.”
“The good: Great location, right by the water, parks, and shops. Plenty of Mediterranean options to choose from, but we went the classic gyro. The pita was soft, the gyro meat was flavorful, and it was loaded with sauce and feta. Service was friendly and attentive. The not-so-good: Expensive, but that's also the area in general. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. They didn't have lamb for the gyro meat, so we went with beef.Food/drink: 8/10Atmosphere: 8/10Service: 9/10”
“Great dinner after swimming. The fajitas were good but could have had more meat and cooked red peppers rather than almost raw. Chips and queso was on point.Very friendly staff.”
“Everything was truly perfect. They accommodated our request to have a separate table since we had our newborn with us. Our sushi was great and the birthday surprise for my wife was appreciated as well. Will definitely be back!”
