“If it wasn’t for Sarah’s recommendation I would’ve stuck with my go to, the short quesabirria taco. I’m so glad I listened to her. The filet mignon was amazing. If you love guacamole and parmigiano reggiano then the Puesto Perfect is for you. Big thanks to Sarah for being the amazing server she is and making our evening extra special.“
“This spot was recommended to me by a local - and it did not disappoint. You order at the front and they bring your food out to you. I got the house swordfish sandwich. So fresh and delicious - grilled fish so you really get the fresh flavor, served with greens, tomato, avocado, and tartar sauce on a soft ciabatta roll. Best fish sandwich I’ve had. The staff is friendly and helpful as well! When I come back to La Jolla, El Pescador will be first on my list!“
“We shared our anniversary dinner here with some friends and had a wonderful experience. The food was great and creative, the wine pairings were wonderful and the staff was amazing. You should note that the restroom is outside and downstairs so not very accessable.“
“This place is a gem. My wife and I absolutely loved our sandwiches. It has a cute vibe that is very inviting. They are very helpful if you arent sure what you want. They have won a lot of awards for their food and service and it is well deserved.Update: right after I left this review the owner came by and gave us some free cheese, including one that is no longer being made. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Can't say enough good things about this place.“
“Ordered the bagel with the spicy spread , mocha & cinnamon roll( from the French bakery )- outstanding. From the east coast, I was a bit shocked by how good the squaw bagel was. The base was not soggy , perfect toast and crunch. I’m back and still thinking about it.“
“Love the regular Matcha! So good, not too bitter and not too sweet. I also tried the PARU Milk Tea which was too milky for me and the flavor of the tea was not very strong which I would have preferred. Not really a place to sit and drink more like a grab and go place. LOVE THAT it’s made with oatmilk as I am vegan.“
“We love the pizzas here and the garlic bones are a must! The topping combinations are amazing, the service is always fantastic and they will sometimes even offer a little glass of wine while you're waiting for your order - a really solid and consistent restaurant option for La Jollans.“
“One of the greatest restaurant in San Diego. A French gem serving real French food. The ambience is warm, and the staff makes you feel special with great attention to details, to comfort. We have never had a wrong evening there. If you celebrate your birthday whoever you are a regular or not, there is a free dessert. Not all restaurants can pretend to such a treat. Crispy epis baguette and butter balls are served for free too at each table. The bar is amazing, it is intimate and welcoming. Thank you for being consistent, hard working, welcoming and we can feel all of this. Thank you for bringing your support to schools, and other great organizations the way you do it. You brought so much to this community.“
“We have always loved Bernini's! Every time we come here the service is always wonderful and it's a great experience with the best food! We really love their breakfasts too, haven't had for a while because the timing hasn't been right. We'll be back soon. I miss the lemon ricotta pancakes!“
“Best pelace you can go enjoy coffe and fell like in haven for each bite of anny pastery and backery. Always somthing new ,amayzing energy and best part ,diferent thing for all tastes .Like magic if you come ones no way that you not come back ....This is my station of happiness!!!!!“
“We had a nice late lunch here on a Sunday. Friendly service and great food. We both had lamb dishes. One was the Chef Special with sour cherries. The other was a lamb shank with rice. Both were very well prepared. The rice was perfectly cooked and not too moist. I look forward to coming again.“
“Quick, delicious, and fresh, every item us made instantly and basically infront of you, the Burger was extra delicious, the fries tasted like real potatoes instead of this other big franchise ones, Service was great, 1 batch of fries was enough for 2 people worth their price.Parking: Close to the beach's parking, about 5 minute walk, other than that street parking, difficult to find parking even on weekdays.“
“Mary's continues to impress. The team members are incredibly professional, kind and accommodating. They helped me to place a large catering order for work, allowed me to pick up a bit early, and even brought the salads out to my car. Everyone loved the fresh, delicious salads! Their ingredients are consistently clean & fresh. (The true test: the broccoli! I've been served broccoli with bugs at other restaurants--but never at MGS) The restaurant may be small, but it is always presentable. They also have a small outdoor seating area with benches & tables. I usually park on the street nearby. I highly recommend Mary's to any salad lover or company looking for healthy lunch options!“
“Had a wonderful time here. We were in SD for 5 days and came here twice for dinner because it was so good. All the food was fantastic, great craft beer, and amazing service. Coming from NYC, a lot of the restaurants in the area has very subpar service, but the servers at Sandpiper went above and beyond! Our first night, our server I believe his name was Jake, absolutely made our night. Thank you!“
“This was my first time ever having a lobster roll and it did not disappoint!! The food was so good, staff was the friendliest staff I encountered on my stay. Good music, fun atmosphere, amazing service, and unbelievable food! It was honestly the best food I have ever “
“Came here to do work and have a drink and the atmosphere is perfect for a beautiful day in lj to do laptop work.Great coffee and amazing matcha on tap which I was surprised how good it was! I also had their soyrizo bowl and it was pretty tasty! They have lots of breakfast and lunch options, more than any coffee shop I've been to“
“Date night was amazing! The drinks were good and the beet salad and filet mignon were to die for. The sauce that comes with the filet is incredible. My only regret is we didn't order 2 filets. I would sub fries for roasted beets or some other side though.“
“Great vegan healthy food. It’s nice to go to a cafe where I don’t have to ask if there’s any animal ingredients in it, because there’s not. Everything but a handful of menu items is gluten free as well. The set up is very cute. Plant lined patio on Girard just into La Jolla. Not far from street parking. A few blocks from La Jolla Cove. Casual dining atmosphere, very basic. Cozy booth seating inside. It’s a small space, so if you’re bringing a large party, I’d call ahead to make sure there’s seating room. Everything is made by hand fresh daily by the owner himself. The food tastes great every time I’ve gone. My husband is a huge fan of Green Door because the owner mentioned staying up the night before Christmas Eve to make all the pre ordered Christmas dinners perfect. We called a few days ahead for our Christmas dinner last year which was shepherds pie and Christmas pudding. So so good!!! All we had to do was reheat the oven items, and reheat the Christmas pudding in boiling water. The preparing instructions were put on the lids. Only took about 20 minutes to reheat. Literally the best shepherds pie I’ve had, and my husband thought it was so cool because it tasted amazing without any animal ingredients. If you’re looking for something healthy, Green Door Cafe won’t disappoint. The prices aren’t cheap. The ingredients are bought frequently from local organic growers. A friend of mine has mentioned to me seeing the owner of Green Door Cafe riding his bike back to the restaurant with a basket full of greens. Which I thought was pretty cool. You don’t have to worry if it’s going to give you a heart attack or make you fat because it’s all natural nothing is fried. Definitely worth a try!!Vegetarian options: The whole menu is plant based/vegan/mostly gluten free.Dietary restrictions: The menu is 100% vegan/plant based. Mostly gluten free menu as clearly stated next to each item.Wheelchair accessibility: Nearby street parking. Outdoor seating in front with plenty of space for a walker or wheelchair.“
“Went to PB Farmers Market yesterday and what a delightful surprise to find this coffee truck! The cortado was perfect and the blueberry lime cookies divine!! We will be back soon to their Garnet location! Well Done!Parking: Street parking and lots nearby“
“I took my 5 year old daughter here after school. We loved it. Its close to many schools in the Village. You can tell when school gets out. There's a nice front corner table with a fun view. We sat with the owner and talked for a while. He's very nice and I can tell he loves this place. We loved everything. Sweet and savory crepes. They have some creative crepes. Thier frozen yogurts are also great.“
“Best Ice cream spot in La Jolla! Cute shop down by the beach, with an exceptional variety of choices. Got the Cafe Latte Swirl and it was amazing. Friendly staff, with great patience in trying flavors. Would recommend for anyone visiting the “
“The yummiest Mexican food in La Jolla. Always quick and delicious. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. It's easily my kids' favorite place to eat! They love the cheese quesdillas and rice. I love the veggie burrito. Top it off with their spicy red salsa ?? My husband gets the combo platter with a crunch beef taco & cheese enchilada. Very inexpensive for the great quality, and they always get our order right, even with modifications to accommodate dietary restrictions.Vegetarian options: Lots of burritos, tacos, tamales and other dishes that can be modifiedDietary restrictions: I order my burritos without cheese and they have gotten it right 100% of the timeKid-friendliness: There are only a handful of tables for dining in, but they are very welcoming to having little ones around. My kids love the most plain items on the menu (quesadilla and rice), though there are lots of options kids would like.“
“Came here for a late lunch with three friends. Ordered pad see-ew with tofu, beef drunken noodles, calamari pad Thai, curry with beef, and basil eggplant to share (not pictured). My drunken noodles were top notch, although some morsels of beef were *very* tough. Our shared eggplant dish was great; nice texture and an amazing sauce to mix with a side of rice. As for the rest, a generally positive consensus—good flavors (but slightly muted), great portion sizes, and as authentic as it can get!Loved the hospitality, the silverware, the seating (which is cushioned if dining outdoors), and the overall peaceful vibe. Even though the location is tucked away, come here if you want a leisurely luncheon! It may even be a nice date spot too. Just make sure to bring around $25 per person; our bill split perfectly somehow ($100.44).Vegetarian options: Your selection of protein can be vegetarian (e.g. veg, tofu), but a dish can be vegetarian on request or from the dish description.“
“We booked the Cove House for our Wedding Welcome Dinner. It was a hit. It was conveniently located in the middle of all of the action for our wedding (we got married next door), so all of our guests just walked here. The food and drinks were delicious (taco bar + apps+cookies) and the staff were so wonderful to work with. We worked with Juliet on the planning and had a dedicated team night of. All of our guests loved it and thought it was such a lovely space right on the Cove. I'd highly recommend the Cove House for any private event or just to grab a bite to eat! Many of our guests returned throughout the weekend for breakfast and lunch.“
“I'll admit, I'm still unsure about the pronunciation of this place, but it's become my favorite hidden Italian gem nestled in La Jolla. Saturday mornings here are my little escape - a cappuccino with oat milk and a pistachio croissant. The vibes are spot-on - a perfect blend of beachy, chill, and romantic. While I've had better croissants elsewhere, this one holds its own, landing on the better end of the spectrum. The cute cappuccino cup, complete with a little dried flower on top, adds a delightful touch. The food selection, in my opinion, is decent - nothing mind-blowing, but pretty good. If I had to choose, the salmon toast gets my vote over the avocado toast. However, it's the vibes, cappuccino, and croissants that keep drawing me back. I've already made this my go-to spot for those lazy Saturday mornings.“
“Second floor is accessible through staircase and escalator only going upwards though. I did not see an elevator however there could be one.Food was reaaaaallly good. A bit pricey however really good seasoned food and decent portions tbh.Service was great all around!! Our server Tyler was really good and attentive. Bar back/ host was on it!!! Kept pre bussing and running our food and sides.Overall super cute!! We sat outdoors and enjoyed our lovely view in the corner looking at the ocean.“
“5 stars all around! Exceptional service, incredible food, and authentic atmosphere. They also have reasonable prices! Given it was a Thursday night, we walked right in and they sat us immediately right next to a peaceful little fountain. They made us feel so welcome and even heard from other locals how incredible their food was. I didn’t have huge expectations for the (kids) Alfredo but it was so flavorful I was pleasantly surprised. Wish we saved room for dessert. I would 100% go back.“
“Amazing ambiance. Amazing bread and oil and vinegar. The pizza was incredible. No price gouging. Food came out quick. The service on the back patio could've been better. The female server was good but appeared to be spread too thin possibly. She was the only server in the back full of people and the front had 4-6 people. I still give it a 5 star. I will definitely be back!“
“Delicious! I've gotten the Social and Chili, and they were both delicious! The social is extremely flavorful but MESSY and greasy. The egg is drippy and messy but I'll always add it. The chili is also delicious and the pita is so soft! The people are super friendly and the price is fair considering everywhere else on campus is just the same price but smaller servings. I always go during lunch time and it's not too bad. There's definitely a rush but it doesn't get loud, and you can sit inside or outside. The food comes out fast so that's a plus for me since I'm on a time crunch!10/10 recommend if you're on campus and have time to sit down and eat!“
“My son found this diner online, I love diners!Especially when they have been around since 1960, that speaks volumes! Our breakfast was delicious…. Hash browns were crispy but tender inside! Food rocked, and I’ll be coming back again!Cheers to the staff that were so super nice!?“
“The Italian buffet provided a cozy ambiance and enticing aromas, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The Italian sub sandwich, featuring freshly baked bread, crisp vegetables, and savory meats, perfectly accented with olive oil and vinegar, was a highlight. Complementing the sandwich, the assortment of pizzas offered a delicious variety, ensuring a truly satisfying experience.“
“Went on a Tuesday around 12noon and it was moderately busy. So I know a weekend would be poppin. We still got a table right away. Servers/hosts and our waitress were all friendly. Food is definitely post worthy with all the colors and glitter. For mimosas, just order the flight, try em all! The pancakes were good but personally, the gobs of jam & blueberries & cream in top was slightly overwhelming. Still very good dont get me wrong, but if you enjoy a classic hot fluffy pancake, order one w less on top. I ordered at random since I was with a friend I had not seen in years and we kept yapping. My gf suggested this place, and has been here twice. Will definitely be coming back.“
“Super cute cafe. Glad I found it. It's got a coffee menu and a few food options. I got really good avocado toast. There is a decent amount of seating but it does seem busy so I had to wait for a spot. But it's a great view and the service is friendly.“
“Loved everything that we tried. Tea leaf salad, coconut noodle soup, sushis, chilli shrimp. The owner was super helpful as well despite a very busy day. Great to see Burmese cuisine spot in San Diego as it is one of our favorite Asian cuisines.“
“Great location, staff, and coffee. I enjoy stopping here on longer bike rides for an energy boost and I’m always greeted warmly with a lovely place to take a rest. There is ample outdoor seating which seamlessly blends into the café, such a great atmosphere.I love the coffee here. I recently sampled a matcha donut and it was delicious. I look forward to trying more pastries.“
“We stopped by a famer's market on a random Sunday afternoon in La Jolla and stumbled upon this food vendor making incredible looking food that made our mouths water, so naturally, we had to give them a try! They have an all-vegetarian menu which is what initially drew my Husband and I over to their tent, and when we saw the grill master cooking up some good eats, we knew we made a good choice! We ordered the chilaquiles to share, they come topped with soyrizo (plant based chorizo) and the red ranchero sauce and were the perfect amount for sharing. They were one of the most delicious chilaquiles we had ever tried, I definitely recommend giving this business a try!“
“Very nice staff in a rather deli-like setting. The sushi was good quality with a good variety. My two lesser grades were to the avocados in an octopus ceviche -- tiny cubes nearly impossible to pick up with chopsticks; and "fresh" wasabi that looked more like a green salsa and not very tasty. Parking was a bit of a search since the block the restaurant sits on has been closed off to provide outside tables. When in the area in search of sushi, I'd definitely go back.“
“Can’t believe it took me this long to find this restaurant. The portions were massive af and the sandwiches are really tasty. Big amounts of every topping and meat, can’t go wrong with anything you order. I ordered the Dapper Dipper (roast beef, swiss, tempura onion, horseradish, au jus) and he got the Rich Boy (chipotle chicken, avocado, monterey jack, lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic mayo). Both were really good but I think I liked the Dapper Dipper better. Would recommend everyone to check this place out.“
“Chef Felix and family put together an excellent meal. Every. Single. Day.I've been going here for 4+ years and am still going back. Everytime Chef curates, weekly, a menu and will even still make you almost anything you can cook on a skillet. From flatbreads, to home made soups, and a Cubano I would fight you for, they make a bit of everything.¡Provecho!“
“This review is for Cold Stone Creamery on Prospect Street in La Jolla! This gem of a store surpasses all other locations by a mile. The fact that it's family owned and operated by the most delightful trio - a wonderful man, his wife, and their lovely daughter - adds a personal touch that truly sets it apart. One remarkable aspect is that they’re open later than any other Cold Stones within 20 mins drive. The exceptional customer service further elevates the experience; these folks not only answer the phone but consistently go the extra mile to ensure every visitor leaves with a smile. Now, let's talk about the ice cream itself. Prepare to be amazed! Their technique of chopping and mixing toppings into the ice cream is an art form. Each luscious bite boasts an impeccable ratio that's almost too good to be true. My personal favorite, the Sweet Cream and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, is an absolute masterpiece when made by one of their culinary ninjasCold Stone Creamery on Prospect has rightfully claimed the pinnacle of ice cream shops on my list!!“
“This is an awesome spot to have a cocktail and enjoy a magnificent view of the ocean! We ordered a small appetizer of roasted olives - delicious! They paired excellently with our cocktails. My wife had a drink named "Talk Birdy To Me" that came in a cool bird-shaped glass! She said it was delicious. My daughter and I opted for the run drink named "Diving Bird" - it was the perfect drink for a beautiful day! Definitely check this place out if you are in the area! The entrance is a steep climb of stairs just off the street and not obvious, so check it out in "street view" on the map so you know how to get up there!“
“Takes you back to the streets of Italy, authentic homemade recipes by this family owned restaurant.. not greasy and heavy cheese loaded like most Other places..Tiramisu is the best you will ever have in US( we have been also ordering a full cake for birthdays since past 3 years)“
“What a cute, fun place! The vibes are phenomenal and it's so fun that there's outdoor seating. I was surprised by how long it took for them to make our one drink, but I also have to take into consideration that there were online orders coming in as well. I wasn't blown away by the service but I appreciate that they helped me narrow down what would be good for my kids, even if they seemed rushed. Over all, this was a really fun treat for my kids. They still talk about getting Boba in California and those mango boba were delicious!“
“I love Sprinkles Cupcakes! At least the ones with cookie bottoms (ie the s'mores cupcake, the cookie cupcake). They are quite pricey (about $6 for a single cupcake), but they're one of the best cupcakes you can get. They're individually boxed so they make great gifts. You also get a free cupcake on your birthday if you sign up for their rewards! Sometimes their app is wonky though. They don't use their "pickup" window, so just head on in and let them know if you have a pickup!“
“Great local spot with true Italian and seafood options. I came here with a large party and we had excellent service and great quality meal. I highly recommend if in the area and seeking Italian. I ordered the linguini clams and it was filling with a great sauce! Well done Osteria!“
“The atmosphere at Elixir was beautiful and relaxing. I indulged in a delightful cacao drink, along with a gluten-free chocolate bar and caramel donut. The owner was exceptionally attentive and friendly. I am truly grateful for the wonderful experience, and my friends were equally impressed.“
“My favorite place. A dreamy place with great food. Things to keep in mind :) 1. Alcohol is now being served!! IDs are being checked. 2. No picnic allowed on private premise. (No outside food allowed) . Signs everywhere. 3. Gift shop next door, check it out ! 4. Extended menu on weekends! Wood fire pizzas and grill items as well. 5. Kids items such as hotdogs and grilled cheeses are available. 6. Dogs welcomed, must be on leash. Plenty of dog bowls around for them. 7. Portable bathrooms only!! 8. Handicap parkings available 9. Soups are home made 10. Serving Thrifty ice cream! The best place in La Jolla“
“Adorable coffee shop in beautiful bird rock. They have limited seating inside but a ton of outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is perfect for a beautiful sunny day. You can also shortly walk the coastline if you want to take your drink to go. They also do offer food, although I didn't get a chance to order anything to eat. I just grabbed a traditional drip coffee, which was prepared quickly, and it only cost $2.45! That's a great price these days for coffee. And it was a good cup of coffee to add.The staff was very nice and friendly. This place is a hidden gem overall! I would much rather go to this local surf vibe coffee shop, than than the franchise Starbucks that's two blocks down. Also, I didn't know until after the fact, but they have a parking lot on the side too, which is great compared to other places that only offer street parking. I will definitely be back again.“
“Yum! We ordered a turkey wrap, and it was large enough for two people. My kids ordered Nutella French toast and, again, large enough for two people. I was pretty impressed with the portions for the price. They have a very expansive menu as well. The only complaint I have is the lemonade. It was just water with some lemon juice. Next time, I'll get a smoothie.“
“UNBELIEVABLE experience. Jose and staff went above and beyond with service. They were out of lamb for the evening when we got there and Jose came out to greet us and apologize and take care of us.Seriously the best service we have received at a restaurant in a long time.Food was 10/10 as well. Burger and Steaks cooked perfectly.“
