“EXCELLENT Chicken Soup.When places say "Best...whatever " one is always like...okay...yeah sure buddy...you know. In my humble opinion Don Pollo hits the mark with the chicken soup. Absolutely Delicious. The broth is so clean and bright, vegetables are not overcooked. The squash and carrots have a crunch and bite to them. The rice sitting at the bottom of the bowl is the right accent to it. The jalapeño gives it the right heat, to bring everything together. I wanted more, but my belly full. Just the perfect bowl of chicken soup. Moving on to the tacos, overflowing with meat and guacamole. Don Pollo hits the mark again. You get your money's worth every time. “This is the best Birria I have every had, including in Mexico. The meat was absolutely well cooked, high quality Beef necks, not chewy or rubbery, the broth was like bone broth. The spice level moderate, and very very tasty I am told the chef has been making Birria for 40 years, and it shows. The tortillas were fresh made that day from a bakery, and had the real authentic corn flavor.... also had the Ramen which was as good as the regular birria, just with ramen! Thanks very much! I cant wait to return for a Torta and Queso Taco.“

For vegetarians you can build a burrito to your specifications and they do one dish which is all vegetarian (don’t know what it’s called but it’s tasty). “This is definitely a hidden gem of La mesa. Breakfast burritos are delicious and not greasy. They are so stingy though on hot sauce. Which doesn’t make sense because if you die there, you get access to the entire bottle. But they do not give more than four tiny hot sauces for 1 burrito. One of the tiny hot sauce containers is enough for two bites of a burrito.“

“Continuing to explore my hypothesis that you can find amazing burritos in literally every California community, I checked out Silva's Taco Shop on a drive between my San Diego office and a jail outside of Yuma. Silva's was the only taco shop in this area that had a 4.5, which is the cut off for a well reviewed fast food place.This was a hash brown/egg/cheese/beans combo where you could add a meat. I added ham and said no to the beans on the theory that it would be a scoop of refried beans, this being the San Diego area. It was hot and fresh, the tortilla was solid and I liked the amount of cheese and how it combined with the hash brown. The egg was uninspired but that's normal. The hot sauce was standard for the area. It was a huge size, no way I could have eaten the whole thing without a fork and knife so I just threw away the last third of it.The restaurant was clean and the cashier was cheerful. It's about a half mile from the 8. I originally ordered birria fries but they said they ran out of fries so I ordered two fish tacos and a spicy fish burrito.I think their fish tacos were pretty average. “I wouldn't normally do this but I really appreciated the service that I got today at Jack In The box at this location. I called at about 11:30 to see if they had a certain menu item that some other locations do not have, and they actually answered the phone, which is if anyone else knows most fast food restaurants will ignore the ringing for hours. The guy who picked up the phone was friendly with me and quickly assured me that they had that menu item so I proceeded to drive over to that location. When I got there I was that person unfortunately who came at 5 minutes before closing time and I felt really bad about it but I was just really hungry and was looking for something specific to curb my craving. However the guy at the drive-thru was nothing but nice when I asked again if they had that item and he rung me up correctly for my items, and still proceeded to give me great service. When I got to the window, I found out his name was Ivan and he was the same person who kindly answer the phone and took my order at the drive-thru line. Even though I was their last customer of the day because I came five minutes late even gave me nothing but good customer service Ivan was very helpful and him and the line team made the menu item that I know they don't just have on hand and had to make fresh. Never was I given an attitude or anything, I asked for sauces and extra napkins and he was very kind and courteous to me and the food was fresh and hot. My last experience at the Jack In The box on college avenue wasn't so good so I decided to try this one and I'm very happy I did. Even though it's a little bit of a longer drive I will appreciate the service that I was given tonight and we'll be coming back again! Thank you guys so much for serving me even though I came late and not pretending that you didn't have an item just because you didn't feel like making it, that goes a long way in my book and I really appreciate it. I hope the people who are working at the location tonight get the recognition they deserve because their job is not easy and I commend anybody who does it while still being courteous to the customer.“

“Good ol' authentic Mexican taco shop, open late. ✨ I really enjoyed the California burrito (I asked for added bacon), it was HUGE and lasted me 3 meals! Very delicious. I hung out there with a friend of mine, we chatted for a few hours and accidentally lasted a little longer than closing time, but the workers were very chill and respectful and didn't kick us out. We wanted to respect their time so we eventually left, but they were very caring and welcoming, definitely recommend this place. I love it when taco shops like this play authentic Mexican music in the back and the workers are singing along ?“
