“While looking for a nearby pizza spot, Alitalia Pizzeria came up on our Yelp search. Their Pizza By the Slice option was very appealing so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. The location itself was on the small side. A bench and a few chairs for waiting but not a table to sit down to eat. Unfortunately when we got here they said the Pizza by the Slice option was only available until 4pm. That's fine but I wish they depicted it better on the menu. Had we known that wasn't an option in the evening, we would have called in our order instead of waiting around for a pizza to get made from scratch. I think we already had our stomachs set on the pepperoni so we decided to get their medium Pepperoni Pizza ($16.45). Then for the waiting that could have been avoided. It felt like forever. The one nice thing is they let you grab as much parmesan cheese and chili flakes as you want. The interesting thing is that their sign said they close at 8pm on Sundays but they closed up as soon as we left slightly after 7pm. In retrospect we were contemplating what else we should have gotten or even their half and half option. But not having the pizza by the slice thing and more labelling of such really threw me off. Anyways as to the pizza, my boyfriend thought the crust could have been thinner. I felt like it was oily. I was blotching the pizza like teenage oily acne skin. We both felt like we might be back for the pizza by the slice deal but we aren't in a hurry to try their full pizzas. The cost is high and the satisfaction isn't all the way there.“

The beertender was nice and had a very friendly personality. She told us the story of how the brewery's name came to be, being as the owner studied geology. It comes with miso soup and the best tasting salad dressing I've ever had. We also shared the lime roll, scallops sushi, ono sushi, albacore sushi and miso cod. “Mahan is a very enjoyable Indian restaurant with a diverse menu that delivers some good flavors. There is a sense of no-nonsense value here. With a menu designed for both standard affair and vegetarian options, many kinds of tastes can be accommodated. Proteins do include the options for seafood, which many other Indian restaurants may not. One impressive dish is the chicken Tandori. Seasoned well with spices and lots of garlic, this became quite a highlight as it arrived at the table sizzling. Heat levels can also be adjusted for the shy, and dishes still taste well-spiced. The popular Tikka Masala is very excellently made. A rice pilaf is available also in contrast to the Jasmin rice. All the Naan is freshly made and delicious. “I came here for the first time recently because it was the only place open in the area at the time. Looking at the menu, I was already a little wary because it suggests that you flavor your milktea, I suspect that the basic tea doesn't taste very good on its own.The clerk patiently answered my questions about the premium milk teas. I appreciate that they answered questions about the flavor of the drinks and what it contained (powder vs syrup) and details about the oolong milk tea. The drinks were prepared quickly after the order was placed which is great. However, the drinks were not so good. I would not get the Thai tea again. Albeit, it was half-sweet so that might have worsened the flavor, but it tasted strongly of powder and rather bland in terms of the tea flavor. The Phoenix oolong was ok, but it didn't have nearly as much of a roasted flavor as I had hoped. It would have been nice if it had a strong tea flavor as well. The pudding was decent.I don't plan to go back, despite the good service.“

“3.25.24 After picking up my daughter from school today, I decided to treat us out to dinner instead of cooking. I tend not to cook the days she's not with me, and lately...I had been avoiding cooking. I don't know why, but lately I had been led to Old Town Monrovia quite often. Very weird! Anyway, before I start my review, I would like to give a shout-out to my lovely Yelp friend, *drum rolls* ....dum....dum...dum...tak. Ladies and gentlemen please give a round of applause to KATHERINE for her awesome Yelp review that led me to The State tonight. The State was located on the corner of Myrtle and Lemon, actually it was near the corner. Parking: There were plenty of parking spaces around, but you can find more parking spaces on a nearby parking lot (free), turning right on Lemon (going East) if you're heading South on Myrtle. The parking lot was located across from the Fire Station. The posted sign on the parking lot stated a 3-hour parking from 8am-5pm Tips: Happy Hour, M-Fr 11am-6pm. I missed the Happy Hour today. I got there at 6:30PM Brunch: SAT, SUN: 10AM-3PM Specials: Monday-Mules $6 Tuesday-Margaritas $6, Tacos $2.5 Wednesday-Old Fashioned $8, Toki Highball $6 Thursday- All Wine by The Glass 1/2 off What were ordered My daughter ordered the following: -Pasta Primavera $20 (She enjoyed it and finished her plate. I tried it and it was tasty to me.) -Creme Brûlée $10 (Delcious) I ordered -New York Steak Medium Rate $38. It came with tenderstem broccoli and mash potatoes. (It was juicy and tender. My daughter tried it and she liked the steak) -Wedge Salad $11 (I liked it. My daughter didn't. She was more of a caesar salad fan) -Avocado Wraps $12, came with 3 wraps (I liked it. My daughter didn't try because she didn't like avocados) -Short Rib Tacos $12, came with 3 tacos (I do not recommend. For me the flavor of the meat was not good. My daughter said it was too spicy and she didn't like it. She was attacking me for not telling her it was spicy, making it sounded like I did that on purpose. I didn't even know they had chopped jalapeños in it) Total after tax was $113.56, with 20%ish tip $136.56 Overall the food was good, service was great, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Talking of which, we saw ambulance and firefighters activity during dinner. Of course I had to snap a pic to share with you all. Oh the place was very busy, no empty table inside. We were offered to sit at the bar or outside (they thought my daughter was 21 or something haha). I chose to sit outside and thankfully they had heating lamps right above us...it was very warm. One minor issue: When my daughter and I first arrived at The State and waited at the hostess lectern to be seated. The waitress and waiter were busy in the back by the bar area cleaning glasses. The waiter decided to wave at me to come to the bar, instead of coming to the front to the hostess stand to seat us. I was thinking to myself "What the heck was that? Uhhh no. You come to me". He kept waving at me trying to get my attention and I ignored. I stayed put until one of them, the waitress, decided to stop what she was doing and came to us to ask us if we wanted to sit at the bar or outside. Other than that, everything else was great and we had a great time.“

“Very satisfied. I stopped by today after my grocery haul and I'm really happy I did. I got a small poke bowl and it was filling but light enough to watch my calories since I was able to get half greens. Everything was fresh and the gentleman who helped me was very nice. Will be stopping by here from now on to get my poke bowls.“

“My wife and I ended up here by chance, and it was great. I got the pulled pork breakfast burrito, which was super tasty and included a nice kick with the salsa. Service was quick and attentive. The music is slightly loud for my liking, but we were still able to have a nice conversation. Will definitely come back to try more of their food.“
