“It's rare to find a shop like this in the US. In many parts of China, like Chongqing and Chengdu, these shops are at most busy streets. This place serves a type of street food that is known as å¤å‘³. Basically different types of meats from duck, beef, pork, veggies, etc. that are infused with a seasoning. In this case of this shop, you have two seasoning options 1) numbing spice 2) sweet spice. I had the numbing spice. It was good. This place would be average in Chongqing in terms of quality though. I particularly liked their beef glass noodle soup. I would come back just for that. One thing to note: the way this place is run, it seems more like someone's side hobby and not a real restaurant option. No customers during dinner and the shop keeper was a young lady who is nice but didn't seem particularly interested in whether or not I purchased anything. Some of the prices, like others have said are particularly outrageous.“
“Food quality-wise, i can tell how this reataurant has been surviving for really a long time. Since my little sons cannot eat spicy food, I tried to find non-spicy food and ordered. Lamb skew: i am picky with lamb and this dish was really good. No strong smell, not too chewy, properly seasoned. Kungpao chicken: not spicy version i think. Sauce flavor is just properly sweet, chicken is tender, nuts are also properly cooked. Radish and beef soup: this would be very healthy. Ox tail might be cooked inside for a long time(asian way) and i can taste the deep flavor. Potato slice dish(forgot the name): although it was not my sons' favorite, i think it is tasty enough. Nothing really special to describe. Price: 4 dishes total 91$ including 18% tips. INCLUDING TIPS........ can you not show me a screen with minimum 18% tip while it is a takeout order....? Customized 0 tip right in front of staff when they are looking at me is really tricky.“
“Good! Very casual place to eat with great service!Waitress was attentive and very helpful. The food was all good and at a very good price. For the 5 of us, we spent $77and that was with meals for each one of us, Would go back for a relaxed lunch or dinner.“
“I've eaten here multiple times and the food has always been stellar - if I could rate higher than 5* I would. I particularly love the 然面 and 担担面 but you truly can't go wrong here. Just don't forget to mix your noodles 18 times! Truly one of my favourite spots in SGV and a place I'll continue to visit “
“It’s SUPER delicious!!!!❤️I am originally from Chengdu, away from hometown for 3 years, this hotpot and Chuanchuan really makes me feel home! I heard from the lady boss that the chef is an old hotpot master in his eighties, it’s really authentic!I even brought the soup home for cooking?? There is no one else who packs hot pot base ingredients?Great service!Totally recommend!“
“2023.09.16 \First visit/Originally, I wasn’t very interested in eating noodles in LA, but Flavor Noodles changed my mind. This time I ordered fatty beef noodles in sour soup, Sichuan style fat intestine noodles, and red oil noodles. I can’t choose which one is more delicious, I like them both! Looking forward to ordering something else on my next visit that I didn't have the stomach for this time.2024.01.09\Second interview/I finally had the opportunity to visit for a second time, but today I was a bit disappointed. I ordered beef noodles with raw pepper, Sichuan-style fat intestine noodles, and red oil noodles. The Chao Shou was more delicious than the last time I had it, but the taste of both bowls of noodles was a bit bland. Last time the sausage was very full, but today it looks thin. The beef noodles with raw pepper are quite spicy. Will be willing to visit again to see if today was just an anomaly, but will order back the beef noodles in sour soup next time.Recommended: Fatty Beef Noodles in Sour Soup“
“One of my favorite Sichuan Pot in the area. They use plenty of food and sauce inside the broth. For the Fish fillet and Frog in Sichuan Mala Broth, it's the size for two people with many fish fillet and frogs inside the large pot. Though it's a little bit spicy, the proteins are pretty good with the fantastic taste. The staff told me that their boss asked them to add enough food to ensure customers' satisfaction. What a great experience of dining here. Attention to adjust the spicy level for any one of the pots.“
“Looking for authentic Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine? There’s a hidden gem in San Gabriel that’s worth trying. They have some really spicy dishes but if you’re like me and can’t handle too spicy, they have some wonderful non-spicy options. Check out their lunch specials!Andrea, Jessica and the rest of the staff are wonderful with customers! They are so welcoming and attentive, treating everyone like friends and making the customers feel at home. They have separate rooms available and are perfect for parties as well. I love the outdoor patio area! Now, let’s talk about the food…Everything was absolutely delicious!! Big portion sizes as well. It was enough to feed me and my 2 boys and still have some food to take home. The Smoked Duck was tender and succulent! The Lamb Chops were fall off the bone tender and so flavorful! Love the crispy texture of the Stir-Fried Noodles with Beef. You can get them soft or crispy. The Diced Beef Tenderloin was our favorite!! So juicy and perfectly cooked! Great balance of flavors! There’s a small parking lot so you may need to park on the street. At first I wasn’t sure if I was at the right place, but it was lol So, if you just follow the directions, you’ll find it.We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely come back!“
“This has become our regular take out spot for Chinese food. The prices are very reasonable, portions are good, and flavors are fantastic! The hot pepper chicken (山城辣子鸡) is a must for any fans of spicy fried chicken. We also love the beef pan fried noodle and Kung Pao chicken. The house spicy pots are good too if you can handle the spice! The restaurant is pretty small with just a few tables, but definitely clean and cozy.“
“If you have never done hotpot before, make sure you come with someone who knows. They are not good at explaining or helping out.I would recommend to come with 4 people at least, this way you can order to share more things (meat, fish, vegetables, whatever you like).I had the gold broth (chicken soup broth) and their original broth (spicy level 1). It felt very spicy to me but I usually like mild. So it makes sense.“
“JS Foothill Restaurant is a hidden gem for dim sum enthusiasts and lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. First and foremost, let's talk about the fried rice - it's exceptional! Each grain is perfectly cooked and infused with flavors that dance on your palate with every bite. Whether you opt for the classic vegetable fried rice or indulge in the decadent seafood version, you're in for a treat. Now, onto the dim sum. From the delicate shrimp dumplings to the savory shumai, each dim sum dish flavors burst in your mouth. But wait, there's more! The garlic broccoli is a must-try side dish. Crisp, vibrant broccoli florets are tossed in a delectable garlic sauce has perfect balance of flavors. Overall, JS Foothill Restaurant exceeds expectations in every aspect. Whether you're a dim sum connoisseur or simply craving delicious Chinese cuisine, JS Foothill Restaurant is the place to be.“
“One of the better hotpot places locally and possibly a new favorite. Ingredients are fresh and the sauce bar has a plethora of snack choices. Although not all you can eat, the prices are very fair and surprisingly low for such quality.Service was pretty fast. The atmosphere is historic in a very cozy way.“
“- Clean authentic Sichuan restaurant- It’s authentic so it’s actually real spicy- This is what you should order1. Toothpick Lamb - Crispy and juicy.2. Fried Pork Intestine - again, Crispy and juicy without the chili overpowering the sweetness of the intestine3. Fried Pork Kidney - Spicy and oily just how a Chinese pork kidney should be. The kidney is not tough but juicy and “crunchy”4. Mao Xie Wang - A mix pot of everything from pork blood to tripes. Generous portion and chili. Goes very well with rice5. Stir Fry A-Choy - I always order this with Sichuan or Hunan food. Something neutral for all the spices. Will definitely come again.“
“Authentic Chinese food! Will definitely come back again! My favorite food is hot and sour noodles and big steamed buns. This is the first time I have eaten such delicious hot and sour noodles in the United States. The skin of the steamed buns is very soft and the soup inside is delicious.“
“Food is soooooo spicy.. It’s legit good. But also I personally couldn’t handle it. I have to find stuff here that’s not as spicy.I love the atmosphere. I was eyeballing all the plates of food coming out of the kitchen. So much I want to try“
“I gave a 5 star because I really want this business to do well!1. The service was great for a Chinese place. It's one lady working the whole front. She was nice and attentive, she was even kind to the delivery pick up people that came in, and packed the to go for me at the end of my meal!2. Delicious food, good portions. Comparatively, it's the lower price of what you can find of quality Chinese food. I don't recommend getting the fresh cut fish because they actually fillet the fish so there are some fine bones and it's not cleaned very well. Flavor still good and didn't bother me. The cold noodle is a must, less on the tangy side and more on spice. I do love that the chili in this dish is very clean and doesn't have that burnt taste some other places have. I was only able to try 2 dishes but I would definitely come back for more.3. The restaurant is very spacious but it's not a bougie place. Come here for a good meal, not the view. There's definitely bigger tables that can seat large parties.4. Parking is probably the worst since it's mostly streets and it's on a big street. But not difficult to find parking though you may have to walk a few steps.Would love to see this restaurant thrive.“
“Enjoyed the food here! The restaurant is really small and a hole in the wall spot. I also don't think it's the same as the other Little Skewer location but regardless, I liked the food. One downside is that they didn't serve alcohol when I went. Not a huge deal to me but their plates you eat on are disposable plates. They also don't give you the spices to dip your food in but the food was already well seasoned so it wasn't really necessary. Overall, the prices are really good and the flavor of each dish has lots of flavor so everything was delicious. The lamb, beef, squid, and chicken wings were good and all came out fresh. The oyster was also sizzling when it came out and it was huge. It comes in one piece and order but the oyster is literally the size of your hand. The mala tang had really good flavor but kinda wished there were more noodles inside.“
“My wife loves the Hibiscus Tree Combo #1 loaded with marinated beef, shrimp, beef tripe, crab stick, fish ball, spam, quail egg, bean curd, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, black fungus, winter melon. So much great stuff inside. We use DoorDash for food deliveries. But I've came by twice to pick up takeout. The parking lot is always full and hard to find parking so we prefer DoorDash and let them deal with the parking situation.“
“Hands down one of the most authentic Chinese food you can get in California.I ordered the Chili garlic pork slice, Kung Pao Chicken and the sweet and sour croaker fish. All of the flavors are pretty spot on, the only thing that I could point out is the texture of the pork slices are a bit soft. Not to mention for the food this quality the price is very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants that doesn’t have good enough flavors.Definitely a place I would go back to, probably by tomorrow.“
“My husband and I come every Sunday to eat a medium dry pot. Food is very good, the portions are huge and the staff is very friendly. We've tried almost every combination and everything is fresh and tasty.Parking: Don't even waste your time with upstairs parking. Park downstairs so you can hurry up and eat.“
“I ordered three takeaways and waited for 45 minutes. To be honest, I was really unhappy. But thinking about it, the store was busy. If I were the boss, I guess the takeout would be delayed. The most important thing is that the boss and employees have very good attitudes and keep apologizing. I was also given a bottle of drink. I tried it when I got home and it tasted good. I’ll call next time so I don’t have to wait. Well, thank you boss for the drink. I wish you a happy new year and a prosperous business.“
“My colleague and I are crazy about this place when they first open. We ordered from them every other day to tryout everything on their menu then at least once every week. We all agreed the best soup base is their golden soup. Unfortunately I was told they removed the golden soup from their menu due to a shortage of an ingredient/s.“
“This place is truly an overlooked gem in the SGV. I don't even remember how we found it, and they're not going to win any awards for decor or atmosphere, but the proprietor is very friendly and makes tremendous food that is served fast in generous quantities at a very good price. The noodle dishes we've had here rival any we've had in southern california, including Mian at their best (like right after they opened, not in the past few years). Especially recommend the chungking noodle with red soup, dan dan noodle, and my favorite, the chungking homemade noodle, which is definitely worth the couple extra bucks for the better noodles than those that come with the regular chungking noodle. Happy to find that the prices haven't increased recently, and would love to see more people eating here. It's so good!If you're a fan of really sweet drinks, order the lemon tea.Cash only. Easy parking.“
“Food was AWESOME. My table ordered the ChengDu Spicy Boiled Roast Duck, Salted Egg Yolk with Corn (this was bomb), Stir Fry Bamboo Shoot, and one other spicy item that I can’t recall. The portions were GREAT for the pricing, more than enough for 4 people to eat with some leftover for the next day. Service is what you’d expect for a small restaurant that’s packed to the brim; we had to flag down the sole waiter (bless his soul, you could tell the man was overworked with no backup) each time we needed something, but eventually he did get whatever we needed to us. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and turnover on the tables can be a bit slow, which in turn makes it a bit of a lengthy wait to get seated. I saw a lot of takeout orders going out the door while waiting too, and with the great food, I could see why the wait is what it is. Will definitely come again, but probably not during the weekend/ dinner rushes.“
“Wednesday 1/17/24 Dinner at Delicious Chengdu in Temple City with my friend Jimmy, cousin, and friends. Enjoying seafoods, wine, beers, and whiskey. Delicious seafoods cooked many different ways. Good times in the making!I recommend trying this restaurant.David YoungRestaurant Enthusiast“
“First time trying this new spot, it's self order. The process was easy and convenient. I tried the original chicken noodle, the soup has rich chicken flavor, the texture of the noodles is on point. I would definitely come back to try out their other noodles. It's a good casual lunch spot.“
“My father introduced Go China to my family. We've been coming here for over 12 years. But this time it's been about 4 years since we've been here. We live about an hour away. The food is still wonderful. My husband had the Kung Pao beef, chicken & shrimp, I had my favorite dish of Gailan (Chinese Broccoli). We also ordered Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The lunch menu style has changed but I was able to order a dish not shown on the lunch menu. The presentation of the lunch dishes has changed to classy instead of the old style lunch tray style of yesteryear. The food was delicious & the flavors just blended together perfectly. I was really impressed with the simple but classy changes. The owner and her family still offer excellent service to the patrons they serve. Next time we won't wait too long to come back. Thank you!“
“I came here to say this is probably one of the best Chinese food I had in a while. First, the servers and waiters were very professional and passionate. Second, I have lived in LA for 2 years and have tried many places but this place, the food was scrumptious. The duck was warm and crispy and it came with the pancakes. The shrimp fried rice was a decent portion. The classic dong po pork was the perfect amount of tenderness and the meat and fat ratio was exactly what I needed. Their seafood was another huge thing I would recommend because their crab was live crab, the meat was so fresh and had a sweet taste to it. Lastly, the sweet and sour fish was a huge portion and we didn’t finish it but it was so good we packed the rest of it to go. I would 10/10 recommended to friends and family. Price may be high but it is definitely worth it.PS the atmosphere was very artistic and historical.“
“This place is inside of Hmart in their food court area. Because it is a food court, you pay at the counter and wait for your number to get called. There's basically no service. Make sure you bring back your finished trays back to the counter like what you would do in McDonalds. Food quality is excellent, must get their fish dishes and upgrade to live fish. It's quite oily but packed with flavor. Another good dish I enjoyed is their Napa cabbage with jellyfish. It's a cold dish that's spicy and sour at the same time.“
“We came here because our friends from China thought this is one of the best places for lamb dishes, in particular the lamb scorpion stew/soup (it is basically a pot of lamb’s spine with tofu and veggies and the reason it is called a scorpion is because the spine itself resembles a scorpion). It was a long drive for us just for a dinner in hole in the wall place. While dinning here, I began to enjoy myself very much as the waitress, the patrons and the basic set up truly reminded me of tiny mom and pop places in the alleys of any city in China. In China, people eat lambs during the winter months as lamb is the best way to keep you warm from inside. So, dining here in a cold night, it was pretty special considering that we were 10,000 miles away from Beijing. So, even it was a hole in the wall, I gave a 5-star on the atmosphere because this place looked its right out of an old Chinese movie. As far as the food goes, we had a scorpion pot and a lamb meat pot, both were pretty good, but on a salty side for me (which was actually quite normal for this type of dishes). The lamb meat pot was more tender with tendons and some fat. The scorpion (spine) has a lot of bones (obviously) and the meat was bit more tougher. Most people seemed to enjoy the scorpion more than the meat itself, but I prefer the meat with no bones. We also had the lamb skewers and they were very good and meaty unlike those one you get from a street fair. Finally, we had ordered “mild” for spiciness and it was pretty tame, though some prior reviewers thought “mild” was extremely spicy. I guess the level of spiciness is really very subjective. If you would like to experience a true authentic Chinese street food, then this is a good place to try.Vegetarian options: This place does make some decent stir-friend veggie dishes, but people come here for the lamb.Parking: Because of seating in the parking lot, spaces can be hard to find.Kid-friendliness: Probably not that friendly with tight spaces, loud people and very hot pots cooking on the table.Wheelchair accessibility: No, it is very tight in here.“
