“What a wonderful place! The staff is incredibly friendly and happy to recommend something delicious to a new customer. I will definitely return.I tried the egg lover crepe and had a matcha latte. Both were exceptionally good.Wonderful atmosphere! Thank you.“

“The menu items look fantastic, though I am concerned it there are non-options for dessert. I applaud them for saying they cannot accommodate vegans right away. I look forward to an enjoyable time. However, the fixed menu: $150.00 per person with tax and gratis brings it shy of $200.00 a person and all the comments stated $100. I prefer ala carte when dining, sometimes the bill can even exceed the above prices. Hope to see you soon.“

“Our visit to Stoke's Adobe last weekend produced the best meal I've had on The Peninsula in a decade! Restauranteur, Sarah Orr, has hit one out of the park. The dishes prepared by Executive Chef, Bryce Hansen, were flawless, my favorties being the seared scallops and truffle chicken. Loved the nod to former occupant and socialite, Hattie Gragg, with the inclusion of the Hattie's Old Fashioned on the cocktail menu :) Looking forward to our next visit and an opportunity to sample other items on their ever evolving menu.“

“My FAVORITE bfast place! We are repeat customers, even though we are not locals. If we are close by, this is a must stop. Never a disappointment. Thank you to all the staff at First Awakenings and the owner for serving up the best start to a day!“

“Incredible everything! Excellent food, decor, (the woodland bathroom will blow your mind!) attentive staff, and fast service. Quality meals that are sourced from the local area makes you feel good inside and out. I've eaten here twice and plan to return frequently. I want to try everything on the menu!“

“Love this little place! Replaces all of our breakfast places for Monterey. Yummy breakfast for most palates, AND I added a roasted jalapeño. The coffee was good. The chef was amazing both times that we went there. But the restaurant is small and thrown together. I only care about the yummy food.Parking: There were a few street spots. Too many other customers, and I would be searching for a spot.“

“My appetizer (artichoke) was disappointing. My entree, a vodka sauce rigatoni, was good because I chose the option to add burrata cheese at extra cost (actually the waiter misheard me but I’m glad he did), and the temperature difference between the cold cheese and piping hot pasta made it a unique (in the best way) and rewarding dish even if the value wasn’t great. Why then do I give five stars? The desserts are out of this world. Their mixed berry cake is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. If it weren’t for dessert it would probably be a 3-4 that I’d want to give another try; with desert it is a 5.“

“The owner, Brent, is clearly very invested in the experience of his customers. It is obvious he is involved with the day to day operations and his employees are happy. Brent was very friendly and genuine. Could not have asked for a better place to hangout and have a couple drinks!“

“Wonderful little restaurant in the heart of Carmel-by-the-sea. The food is as much Italian as it is French with dishes like artichoke and asparagus risotto and mushroom pizza sitting alongside some French provincial classics. Service is friendly and prompt but I would book in advance or turn up very early (pre 5.30pm) for walk-ins.Vegetarian options: Lots of great vegetarian options available.“

“We had oysters, clam chowder, veal piccata and pesto prawns with penne pasta. All were delicious. The oysters were large and flavorful. The clam chowder was rich & creamy. The veal was tender and delicious. I would have liked more basil flavor in the prawns dish however it was very tasty also. We had a cabernet sauvignon and a pinot noir. Both were excellent. A good value. The view from the upstairs dining room was wonderful.“

“Surprised my boyfriend with a cake from here. He said it was everything he’s been looking for in a Strawberry Shortcake. The cake was absolutely delicious and definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. They were also very accommodating to peanuts/tree nut allergies!“

“We came on our honeymoon and met family. My husband and I had omelets, and my cousins daughter had Country Benedict. My great aunt had pancakes. The breakfast was amazing. My one advice is to get there early. They were a packed house. The whole time, we were there.“

“This was a lovely place to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon! There were two pages of beer options, and michiladas! The servers and other patrons were friendly. I love that you can order by the half or taster glass as well. They had a couple of prize winning beers on the menu that were great for IPA lovers. We stayed for dinner, getting nachos and tacos from the taco truck on site.We sat outside on the patio, soaking in the sunshine. When it got chillier as the sun set, they turned on the heat lamps. Eventually we moved inside, with comfy couches and tables to avoid the wind as we finished our food and beer. It’s great to have a place with so much seating and drinking choice!“

“place with traditional flavors mole tacos special tortillas in corn different flavored sauces it really seemed like a super restaurant. I would definitely eat here again on my next trip. I recommend it. They also have excellent customer service.“
“Our family was camping nearby and we spent the morning hiking around Point Lobos. We stopped in The Cheese Shop in downtown Carmel, so I felt like I needed something to complement that back at camp. I was surprised to see that the shop was nearly empty, but it gave me a good opportunity to talk with the owner and brewmaster. I tried his Hazy IPA and Juicy IPA and ended up grabbing a can of the juicy to go. I would have spent more time hanging out, as it seems like a great little spot, but had to get back to the family. I'd go back in a heartbeat! We're back up in the area later this year, so hopefully we can make that happen.“

“A true family run restaurant that serves great food. You know it's good when most customers are locals. We had dinner, I had the filet of sole and husband had the steak. Both entrees were delicious. We will be back to try their breakfast next trip.“

“Before, I had never noticed the BobaLicious truck on the side of the Exxon gas station, but a classmate of mine from CSUMB recommended me to try it since I love boba! I tried their matcha green tea latte and have been coming back ever since! It's the perfect taste, not too strong or too sweet! The owner is really friendly, he stated that he is now opening up an actual BobaLicious shop in a few weeks on 474 Tyler street! I highly recommend coming here, way better than T-Zone boba in downtown Monterey!“

“I’ll offer a better than expected review. Our party of five went for Sunday brunch. 1/2 wait for an outdoor table. Excellent Southwest eggs Benedict; chicken fettuccini; fruit salad and Cinnamon toast special with eggs. Chocolate Oreo cake for dessert. Excellent service for a relaxing Sunday. Glad to return and recommend. Cheers!“

“Kind of a hidden gem. I have lived here five years and never walked back into this patio area. We went during winter so I predict the patio experience will be even better. Food was great. Still having a hard time with such expensive tacos- so used to street tacos being affordable- we will come back.“

“Fun fact, I love coffee. Each time I'm in a new city I like to hunt down the best coffee house in town. With that said Yelp referred me to Captain + Stoker. The shop is designed into an auto body shop which was super cute. Customer service was awesome and as I could see this coffee house was a crowd pleaser and many patrons lined up to either a quick bite or just to relax and enjoy your cup of coffee.“

“Had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant in the morning and then went to the bar later that day for drinks. We asked for a tequila old fashioned cocktail and the lovely bar man Luis made us one of his own creations. He called it a Mexican old fashioned and it was honestly the best cocktail we have ever tasted. Luis is a very skilled mixologist and hopefully his Mexican old fashioned will become a regular drink at the C bar.“

“Was so good, went by twice while in Carmel for a wedding. Saturday. got there by 9am, display cases appeared fully stocked of everything. Sunday, got there by 10am, a few items were sold out. We got what we wanted, but still! The mocha actually had a rich chocolate flavor (compared to bucks) Love how they carry mini pastries which are the perfect size to share and taste and try variety!!!! Well priced, cheaper than SF.“

“Nice little wine bar with small bites in the Cannery Row area. They had some nice wine choices and beers. Charcuterie and flatbreads and other snacks. Wine flights in test tubes which looked a bit bizarre but was popular! Good service with only one person working when I went. I went with a glass of their Brut which was slightly sweet for me , and their sourdough pretzel with Dijon mustard. The pretzel was nice and warm and the mustard had a great kick. Nice little gifts available too. I liked that it had groups and just solos having a glass of vino at the end of the day. Cozy feel.“

“Hands down my favorite coffee spot in the area. It's a small spot but they roast all of their own beans & also spotlight some local bakeries (reds donuts & Parker-Lusseau). If you want something slightly sweet try their Vietnamese iced coffee or add honey to your latte. Note this is not a spot you can work at or really hangout at other than at the standing high tops.“

“Spent time researching dinner spots in Carmel and came up with this little hidden spot. Didn’t know it was more a Greek style restaurant.I think I was hoping for more. Service was top notch and atmosphere was a bit loud due to low ceilings but it had a nice comfortable vibe. The lamb stroganoff was just so so had a Greek spin on it. Clam chowder was over the top good!Would I try again…. Probably not due to so many more restaurants to explore….“

“Very tasty breakfast, the pancakes were outstanding and the portion was more than large. We were there on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was already full. We put ourselves on the list of the nice employee at the counter and then walked around the block for 20 minutes to get our seat.“

“Be careful... the food is good and the portions are huge!We went for Sunday Brunch and laughter floated through the air. It felt like everyone—patrons and staff—were having a great time. There's a big indoor and outdoor space, they're both gorgeous, and they have a coffee and cocktail bar to help pass the time while you wait for your table. We'd definitely come back.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian sausage which I didn't have, but my partner did and said it was delicious.“

“Five stars for the fish and chips alone. Light and crisp, fresh halibut, and possibly the best fish and chips I've had! Highly recommend for those who love fish and chips. Also the grilled cheese was decadent with a rich thick tomato soup. Hamburger flavorful. Excellent bruschetta salad! Good cocktails. Very good service.“

“Super fun, classy hotdog and shake joint, in a surf/skate shack styling w/ a really nice patio area. Great food; the "tangy slaw" was a masterful, coarse chopped, mixture of red and green cabbage. The house chili was very good...if I recall it was the "Reefs" dog. The shakes we tried were great; quite impressed with the blackberry and also by the sheer number of offerings. The place just has good vibes; very friendly staff and (regular) customers alike. ...I must have been too tired to notice Kimchi on the menu before ordering and was a little heartbroken (until next time) hearing that it can be added to any menu item.“

“It was their Traditional Yerba Mate service that caught our attention and then coincidentally reading a little of their backstory brought us in. Once settled, we instantly felt at home and couldn't have enjoyed our visit(s) more. Clearly locals love the spot for its relaxed atmosphere and food...Ok I mean absolutely fantastic food. You simply have to try all their empanadas, the mind-blowing Sopa and Lemon Delight. Don't miss out on their gem offering... Yerba Mate!Mate: really is a way of life (relaxed). It takes a little time, make the time, it's so worth it. The staff were surprised/delighted by my order of a traditional (hot) Mate service, and the owner came out with an exuberant "You're drinking Mate!?!" We had a nice conversation about the ritual of drinking Mate, Paraguay and some of her experiences with the cafe. Our second visit though, led to a lengthy discussion with a knowledgeable staff member about more advanced techniques for Yerba Mate preparation, character of the various brands, etc...I've been casually enjoying Mate for twenty years and still came away with a better understanding. They're so kind and pleasant, you'll enjoy the experience whether you're a newbie needing to be walked through the process or a budding connoisseur.“

“Absolutely divine experience at Reba's Bakery! The chocolate chocolate cake was pure decadence – each layer exquisitely moist, and the double chocolate brownie, dense and rich, was a true indulgence. We also ventured into some unique treats like the peanut butter jelly bar and the cinnamon doughnut hole muffins, each bursting with flavor. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth craving perfection! 5 stars all the way! ??“

“Amazing breakfast of avocado toast on some of the best bread, really rich and delicious yogurt, scone and vegan frittata. The quality of ingredients used in their food is exceptional; you can taste it in the food. It’s just a short walk from Cannery Row and totally worth it. We bought their summery strawberry jam after tasting it in their cannery annex which has an incredible variety of jams. Wish I could find something like this closer to home.Vegetarian options: My son who is vegan would LOVE this place. So many great choices for him.“

“Nice atmosphere--a guitarist came in to play music which was't too loud despite the small space and added to a pleasant ambience. Everyone in my group ordered the flight, which came in test tubes. Overall it felt like a good deal compared to other wineries we visited that day in terms of volume, and each of the wines tasted great. The tasting descriptions were specific and accurate so that you could practice pinpointing flavors on your palette.“

“Took a quick trip to Monterey this weekend, and I'm glad I got to try Captain + Stoker. I'm ashamed to admit, but I think I've become a coffee snob over the years. The flavor has to be just right -- not too bitter, dark, or acidic.I gravitate towards toasty flavor profiles, and the latte I had at C+S perfectly hit the spot. This is their smaller location (without seating), and we'll be checking out their larger one later today before we head out of Monterey! (Need to get it at least one more time before I leave)“

“Alvarado is a great place for drinks and dinner. The food is always great and I’ve been told the beer is good (but I don’t think beer). However, the cocktails are great too! The place definitely gets crowded really quick so prepare for a wait if you wanted a table or else I recommend just eating at the tabletops.“

“While my experience at Zab Zab Thai was mixed, there were definitely highlights worth mentioning. The Pad See Ew didn't quite hit the mark for me, lacking the depth of flavor I was expecting. However, where Zab Zab Thai truly shines is in their selection of curries. From the aromatic green curry to the rich and creamy red curry, each dish delivered a delightful burst of authentic Thai flavors. If you're a curry enthusiast, Zab Zab Thai is definitely worth a visit.“
