“My boyfriend and I have no complaints about this restaurant! This is our second time at the Fish Hopper, we’ve come everytime we visit Monterey together! A little pricey, as we’re young, but very delicious and we love the view wherever we sit! I got the shrimp and crab roll sandwich, and my boyfriend got the crispy jumbo prawns. Mine was delicious and filling! My boyfriend said his was good but he felt like he could have eaten a little more. Overall the restaurant has a nice vibe, last time we sat at the back near the big window and were able to see otters swimming! That’s a 5 star experience in itself :)“

“Loulou's Griddle in the Middle is a hidden gem nestled on the old wharf, exuding a nostalgic charm reminiscent of fishermen's stops for a quick meal. The clam chowder was simply amazing, bursting with flavor and hearty chunks of clam. The crab cakes were also delightful, perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. I definitely recommend Loulou's for a taste of delicious seafood and old-time waterfront vibes.“

“We had oysters, clam chowder, veal piccata and pesto prawns with penne pasta. All were delicious. The oysters were large and flavorful. The clam chowder was rich & creamy. The veal was tender and delicious. I would have liked more basil flavor in the prawns dish however it was very tasty also. We had a cabernet sauvignon and a pinot noir. Both were excellent. A good value. The view from the upstairs dining room was wonderful.“

“One of the BEST meals ever! The California (crab) Tower was delicious with the sweet salsa and traditional soy sauce with wasabi. Our main courses were each delicious in their own right (almond crusted sea bass and seafood pasta) - pleasantly and surprisingly generous portions. Our host (Rich) and server (Tony) treated us like family. We will definitely be back!“

“The best falafel I’ve ever eaten. Laid back atmosphere off the beaten path—nice outdoor seating. My husband enjoyed his lamb gyro, everything was freshly prepared and we could taste the care that went into our meal. The chef/owner made sure to make us feel welcome…we definitely hope to stop by again if we are back visiting the bay.“

“I’ll offer a better than expected review. Our party of five went for Sunday brunch. 1/2 wait for an outdoor table. Excellent Southwest eggs Benedict; chicken fettuccini; fruit salad and Cinnamon toast special with eggs. Chocolate Oreo cake for dessert. Excellent service for a relaxing Sunday. Glad to return and recommend. Cheers!“

“This place had one of those "OMG moments" where I took that first bite and was in heaven! The orange chicken is really something special. Helen is the owner and cook and she has come up with a lemon and orange juice concoction authentic sauce that will knock your socks off. Absolutely amazing. This was THE BEST orange chicken I have ever had.I also ordered the chicken fried rice, which was great and the crab rangoon wontons were awesome as well. Everything is made from scratch and it shows. It was getting close to closing time when I walked in and everyone was very kind to me and said I could sit down and have dinner. I did not have to wait long for the food. The staff was super friendly and I was grateful for that. This place deserves the highest marks possible. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: Noodles, vegetables, sauces, soups, etc.Parking: Around the corner, there is a free parking lot with many spaces. There are a couple of spaces in front of the restaurant as well.“

“Very tasty breakfast, the pancakes were outstanding and the portion was more than large. We were there on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was already full. We put ourselves on the list of the nice employee at the counter and then walked around the block for 20 minutes to get our seat.“

“Kind of a hidden gem. I have lived here five years and never walked back into this patio area. We went during winter so I predict the patio experience will be even better. Food was great. Still having a hard time with such expensive tacos- so used to street tacos being affordable- we will come back.“

“Strictly speaking 3.5 star. The lemon ricotta pancake was excellent, one of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. That dish single handedly kept the final score up. The other 2 dishes were ok but forgettable. My biggest problem with the restaurant was the service, mostly the person who was responsible for seating. We put our name on the sign in sheet and specified we have a dog with us. I guessed I should have spelled out we need to seat outside. Anyway, we were waiting in the cold for quite a while when the girl came out to ask around to see if any party would seat outside to avoid longer wait. For some unknown reason she skipped over our group all together. She even talked to a group that came after us and didn’t bother to register. When I tried to get her attention she was not too happy. Unfortunately the story didn’t end there. She proceeded to seat the 2 groups, both came after us. I was walking away before she finally get us a table. If it were not my company, I would have kept walking. There were other mishaps but I’m ok if those were honest mistakes.“

“Had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant in the morning and then went to the bar later that day for drinks. We asked for a tequila old fashioned cocktail and the lovely bar man Luis made us one of his own creations. He called it a Mexican old fashioned and it was honestly the best cocktail we have ever tasted. Luis is a very skilled mixologist and hopefully his Mexican old fashioned will become a regular drink at the C bar.“

“Nice little wine bar with small bites in the Cannery Row area. They had some nice wine choices and beers. Charcuterie and flatbreads and other snacks. Wine flights in test tubes which looked a bit bizarre but was popular! Good service with only one person working when I went. I went with a glass of their Brut which was slightly sweet for me , and their sourdough pretzel with Dijon mustard. The pretzel was nice and warm and the mustard had a great kick. Nice little gifts available too. I liked that it had groups and just solos having a glass of vino at the end of the day. Cozy feel.“

“An unassuming location for good sushi. This restaurant is a great little spot for quality sushi with excellent service. Although this place is small, they manage to provide efficient and attentive service to more guests than it seems possible. I came here with my wife and two kids a little after 5:30pm on a weeknight. The place was already busy but there were a couple of tables left so we did not have to wait. There were a few seats at the sushi bar as well. But shortly after we were seated, new customers kept coming in and a small wait list was starting. My wife and I both opted for the sushi dinner with an assorted 7 pieces of nigiri along with our choice of a Maki Roll; there were many to choose from it was tough to decide. I narrowed my choice down to the salmon skin roll, and it was great. The meal came with soup and salad as well. We also started with an order of the fried calamari. My kids ordered a few different cut rolls. Everything was very good and the service was wonderful. Between the three servers they made sure we had everything we needed and promptly cleared our table of any unwanted dishes. Overall this was a very pleasant dinner experience and I would highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.“

“Amazing breakfast of avocado toast on some of the best bread, really rich and delicious yogurt, scone and vegan frittata. The quality of ingredients used in their food is exceptional; you can taste it in the food. It’s just a short walk from Cannery Row and totally worth it. We bought their summery strawberry jam after tasting it in their cannery annex which has an incredible variety of jams. Wish I could find something like this closer to home.Vegetarian options: My son who is vegan would LOVE this place. So many great choices for him.“

“The food is absolutely amazing, especially for the price. I haven't been able to find a better quesabirria taco in Monterey. The service is always very friendly, they're more stand-off-ish so if you don't like casual dining this might not be your place to go. They're very nice though. They ALWAYS have good music playing. There aren't a whole lot of tables so be cautious about visiting while they're busy. Fortunately this is a great to-go meal! I highly recommend this restaurant to any resident or traveler alike!“

“Alvarado is a great place for drinks and dinner. The food is always great and I’ve been told the beer is good (but I don’t think beer). However, the cocktails are great too! The place definitely gets crowded really quick so prepare for a wait if you wanted a table or else I recommend just eating at the tabletops.“

“Nice employees who were accommodating for our big group. I got the Palak Paneer, and for the price I think I have had better. The food came out luke warm, and I asked for medium spice but I could not taste even a hint of heat. I had to ask for a sauce to add to my dish to make it more spicy. Overall, a pleasant experience but not the best Indian food I've had.“

“Nestled in the heart Carmel-By-The-Bay in a residential area (meaning parking can be challenging), "L'Escargot" transports diners on a culinary voyage of French cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that evokes the romance and sophistication of the French capital, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The moment we were seated, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who exuded the elegance and hospitality synonymous with French culture. The restaurant's intimate setting, adorned with subtle decorations, created an atmosphere that was both inviting and refined. For the apps, one standout was the escargot, served in a garlic and herb butter sauce. The snails were tender and succulent, with each bite offering a burst of flavor that lingered on the palate. The Duck Leg and Foie Gras was equally impressive, although we would've preferred more bread than just two small corner pieces. The French Onion soup is a must try. The caramelized onions, lovingly sautéed to perfection, impart a depth of flavor that is both sweet and savory, setting the stage for a culinary journey like no other. For the main course, our favorite (in order) was their Beef Wellington, Duck two way, Seared Scallop Risotto and the shredded rabbit pasta. I've had Gordon Ramsay version of Beef Wellington, but what's different about this one is the golden pastry shell that enrobes it, providing a crisp, flaky exterior that gives way to tender perfection with each bite that's not too salty. The Seared Scallop Risotto was a bit of a miss with the Risotto as it was missing the crunch, but the Scallop was seared to perfection that melts in your mouth. No French meal would be complete without a decadent dessert. Our favorite was the Lemon Tart, follow by the warm Apple Crisp with a scoop of ice cream, and a home made cheesecake. The service was, with attentive waitstaff ensuring that our sparkling water glasses were never empty and our needs were always met with a smile.“
