“My friend recommended this market to me. It is easy to miss because the entrance is in the back. The kids like ordering the fresh seafood and although the store is small, they have a good selection of rolls along with other Japanese items. My two favorite things to get are the avocado roll which has been consistently creamy and delicious and the chicken karaage that has a fantastic dipping sauce. If you like mochi ice cream, they have a brand named “Mochidoki” that has flavors like Chocolate Habanero and birthday cake. There are also some cute items such as stationary and pet toys. There is some parking in the back that is shared with Thai Paradise and also parking on the street“
“Purely for charm and LA history, Otomisan is outstanding. The oldest continuously operating Japanese restaurant in the city, there's certainly a retro feel to this place that can't be replicated.Ever since a few well-received profiles (Vice, PBS, etc), Otomisan has experienced a burst in popularity. On Saturday, we arrived at 11:30am, which is when they opened, and already all three booths were taken. Our party of four sat at the counter, which honestly might have been the reason we had such swift service. The owner is SUPER nice and even though she was obviously totally overwhelmed with a long waiting list and a bunch of takeout orders, she handled everything with a smile and didn't rush anyone out.The food is exactly like what I had when I ate at my friends' parents' or grandparents' houses who were Japanese American, so this meal was a lovely hit of nostalgia.Highly recommend the katsu, teriyaki, tempura, edamame, and salmon roll.“
“First visit here. Absolutely loved it. The albacore sashimi should really be renamed a carpaccio. Thinly sliced premium seared albacore with a tangy delicious ponzu sauce. With more than 10 slices, it's the perfect delicacy to share with someone special. Everything else here was super fresh and tasty. The ambience is dark & comfy and the customer service was friendly, quick & efficient. I found my new favorite spot for sushi.“
“Had a great dinner at Kogane again. The food and service were great. The sushi chefs were friendly and gave very interesting tidbits about the fish, process and taste. The meal lasts about 1 hr and 45 min. Since everyone eats at the same rate for each dish through the course, don't forget to be on time. :)“
“I've been wanting to come here for quite some time, so I decided to come with my girl friends for my birthday dinner. Upon arrival, they offer valet parking - otherwise, you're going to have to snag street parking nearby. The entrance as so beautiful and captivating. It felt so serene. Minimalistic, but with modern aesthetics. We were able to sit in the outside patio area. This area seats best for 4-5 people. They also have a private dining area for bigger groups available too. I took a look at the seating inside, which were mainly bar seating and table seatings for 2 options. The table seating for 2 did not look too comfortable, so I'm glad I came with a group instead of a plus one. We ordered the Blue Fin Tuna Crudo, Ponzu Oysters, Sesame Yellowtail Kingfish, Uni-Mentaiko Cream Squid Ink Pasta, and Miso Black Cod. For drinks, we ordered Carajillos, Lychee Martini, and Yuzu Margarita. We were pleased with all of our orders to share amongst the 4 of us. It was the perfect portion to share to try different things. We did order a second order of the yellowtail, since we did enjoy that more than the blue fin. Loved all the flavor from the uni pasta and the cod, but didn't really care for the green pea puree under the fish. All the drinks were great - we ordered 2 each. Jesse was our server that night. He was a delight. It was a slammed night for the bartenders and servers, but he made our evening very pleasant. He did mention that the building will also serve as a small hotel soon, which I thought was very interesting. Definitely recommend trying this spot out!“
“Chef is from Osaka Japan, he made great shari (slightly sweeter side as compared to Tokyo edomae purist style), nonetheless it was good texture, temperature. Most of fish from Japan. Kinmedai was excellent. So was Aji from Osaka. Tuna is from Hokkaido, taste similar to Ohma tuna, but slightly difficult. Chef knows edomae style and textures of fish, either natural or farm raised. Hope he carries more like Awabi, akagai, kohada, and more hikarimono next time. It was pleasant sushi dining experience.“
“Yuli was the best!!!The food and cocktails never disappoint here. We had an amazing dinner with the best waitress Yuli. We just loved her, she provided outstanding service with a warm and welcoming demeanor. She demonstrated excellent knowledge of the menu, offering recommendations and accommodating special requests with ease. Overall, her professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. She's a true asset to the restaurant!“
“An excellent and authentic experience for sushi in the style you would see in Japan. Signs at the entrance set expectations (no teriyaki, no tempura, no noodles) to avoid disappointment from people looking for a more standard Americanized Japanese dining experience. No spicy mayonnaise, sweet eel sauce basted rolls here (though those do have their moment elsewhere in Little Tokyo). Nigirizushi and sashimi dominate the menu with mostly bar seating. 3-4 sushi chefs manage sections of the bar and will freshly prepare sushi from breaking down the fish to putting it on your platter. Ambiance and service are to Japanese tastes. The waitlist is based around having a name on a written list and waiting for your name to be called. No electronic contact or list monitoring. Arrive at opening or be prepared to wait. Prices are standard for this quality of sushi which is to say that the meal will be a special occasion.“
“My first time coming to Sushito, and will definitely be back again once my mom and I get a craving for teriyaki bowls! Was greeted very well, lady in front was very friendly, polite, and patient when I asked her questions about the menu. Was also told about their buy 2 bowls/plates get 1 free on Tuesdays!“
“We came for the famous $23 lunch special and we’re not disappointed! The fish is extremely fresh and the portion of fish, rice, and appetizers was good for lunch. We also got the sushi deluxe combination to split. The sashimi lunch special was the best value item!Come early to wait! We got in line around 10:20 on a Tuesday morning and got in with the first group to be seated (they open at 11 and the line is pretty long by 10:30. We found out that the a la carte menu is only served at the bar so if you want to to order off the normal menu, make sure you grab a table instead of sitting at the bar.“
“If I could eat here everyday I would. These are my favorite types of sushi restaurants to go to. Simple but far from ordinary. No frills, no heavily sauced California rolls, or flashy items just great quality sushi made as traditional as possible. Everything (that I tried) was fresh.I’m so glad that I found this little gem on this side of town. I’m coming back ASAP to try the rest of the restaurant. If you’re looking for a place to try real sushi, I would definitely put this on your list.My favorites from my visit were the Live Sweet Shrimp (fried head), Uni, Toro, Salmon Belly, Yellowtail, Scallop handroll, and the salmon collar. Like I said, I’m coming back to eat the rest.“
“I recently dined at this exceptional sushi restaurant, and it exceeded all expectations. The quality of the fish was impeccable, and each dish was a masterpiece of flavors. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing meal, and the staff was attentive and knowledgeable. From the presentation to the taste, every aspect of the dining experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this place to any sushi enthusiast - a true gem in the world of Japanese cuisine!“
“I love Yunomi! The service is very authentic to a more traditional Japanese service. It's all counter/bar seating, so be prepared for a stool. The menu is deceptive with how simple and clean it is, but the ingredients are all top tier and everything they do, they do well. There is also a wonderful selection of Japanese beverages (beer, sake, etc)Don't leave without trying one of their house specials (either the yunomi handroll, or the albacore truffle crispy rice).A note for the managers, purse hooks installed under the bar would have made my experience much better, worrying about my purse falling off the foot rail did take away from my experience a bit.Parking: You'll need to use a paid lot, but there are multiple lot options within 2 blocks. I recommend the lot near the Alisio apartments.Kid-friendliness: This isn't a kid-friendly location.Wheelchair accessibility: While it's all bar seating they do have a wheelchair accessible bar level.“
“My favorite sushi place. The quality of their fish is great. The chirashi bowls are very generous and have a lot of flavor. The service is always very attentive and polite.Parking: There is a shared parking garage behind but it’s often full. You can find street parking on the side streets nearby.“
“We had the last table in the back and the noise level was great! If you sit in the front you might get a bit higher noise level. Service was super friendly and checked in with us multiple times but not being annoying. The food is amazing! Haven't had fantastic Shusi in a long time! Price is absolutely reasonable for that quality of food. We been 2 patrons and paid $191 for so much food that we actually have been over eaten lol. We just couldn't stop. Only thing - it was cold not sure if other doors have been open somewhere but that was a bit uncomfortable but not dramatically.“
“We've been wanting to try this new restaurant and finally came by. I will say you will not regret it. The food is fresh and delicious. Flavors are on point and service is great. Plenty of parking. Ambiance is great. We'll definitely be back to try new plates. Michelada was yummy.“
“Akasaka is amazing bang for buck if you like hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), it’s perfectly broiled - crispy on the outside and tender and fatty on the inside. Their chirashi bowl is huge with 6 cuts per fish and can serve 2. The fish is good quality and fresh and the tempura bits in the rice adds another layer of texture. I always come here when I’m craving lots of hamachi for a good price“
“Great costumes service and pricing, the place is livened up by the j pop playing in the background along with h other songs. The customer service was great I was served by Mrs. Maddy and had great service by her ( she deserves a raise probably 10/10 waiter). The chefs greatest us at the entrance.“
“I was surprised to discover this nice restaurant in this area! From outside the building doesn't look great but the food and service level is magnificent! The food might be easily compared with 5 star restaurants. Not to mention smooth jazz music making the atmosphere romantic and relaxing. The staff is super nice and does everything to make you feel comfortable and happy. I'll definitely come back!“
“I definitely loved it. The second time going, I will definitely be going more often. The food is always so good, I had the takoyaki, the crispy tuna rice cakes, the baked crawfish roll, and the scallop roll. I had their green jasmine hot tea, I can't wait to try some other dishes.“
“Surprisingly really loved the crunch roll ! The shrimp on top was fried in the same seasoned batter & really added a nice taste! The pieces of sole I ordered were very thin however i think If i didn't request for them to be "fried hard" it would've been ok, so that's on me. Would def try again :)“
“One of the jewels of dining in ELA. The food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant are incomparable. I love the bento boxes, and they are a great value. The customer service is excellent and par noneVegetarian options: There are good optionsParking: The plenty of itKid-friendliness: Family oriented place, but mainly the food is catered to an adult tasteWheelchair accessibility: Yes plenty of room for a wheelchair, and I frequently see persons with them“
“Great spot for lunch downtown. The bento box lunch special was just enough food and was high quality/delicious! Staff was also so kind and warm.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten free and vegan optionsParking: If you park in the lot, it’s free either way validation from kombu but you need to pay via the text link first.“
“Food was great.. lots of selection and rarely seen dishes in other yakitori spots. The beef tongue was excellent ??.. highly recommend. Service is great, chef's were fun and engaging. Getting a Reservation is tough, but that's understandable for a location like this. Give it a try if you have a chance.“
“This place is a hidden gem. I think I place an order every other week for like 5 rolls. It's so good! My favorite roll is the Lemon Drop. That lemon they place on top, takes the sushi to another level. Oh, and can't forget the Veggie Tempura. Give it a try, you won't regret it! Customer service 10/10. Sushi 10/10!“
“Our first time here at Umi's AYCE Sushi and I never had the opportunity to eat at Joe's Sushi so I can't give the comparison review. The best part of lunch was the service. Our server was wonderful. She was very patient and gave a great explanation to the rules of the ayce option. As for the AYCE sushi menu, it was very average. Of the sushi, rolls and appetizers I ordered, there was nothing that stood out as spectacular. Other than the nigiri sushi, everything else had a lot of sauces and filled with a lot of spicy tuna or imitation crab. For the $33.99 price during lunch, I don't think I fully got my monies worth. During the time we went wasn't busy so it was fairly quiet and not a lot of people so we were well attended to. It was nice to finally give this place a try, but I think it's a one and done.“
“The chef is the same from Wahoo Chaya. So long story short- the sushi is phenomenal as it was prior. I bring my wife and son here all the time and also invite other family members. I order the a la cart cut rolls such as the the albacore roll and the yellow tell. Sometimes I will order it either of them spicy. My wife loves the rainbow roll, baked mussels, and fresh oysters. My son who is two mind you like the temura udon and the rainbow roll. Yes he loves sushi. Usually our bill is around 100 including tip. If we invite others it is more. You will not be disappointed coming here. A true gem.“
“Came here for the first time and really enjoyed it. I didn't try any of the Peruvian dishes, but we tried the octopus sushi, grilled octopus, tiradito sampler, one of the specialty rolls and everything was nice. The dining area is clean and roomy, and the staff was nice.Definitely coming back again.“
“Very local to home. Walking distance close. Not sure why we don't frequent more often. The staff is super friendly. Place is always clean and inviting. Had the chicken teriyaki and the Beef Bulgogi. Both we super tasty. Give this local biz a visit and your tummy will be happy.“
“Honestly, was amazed at how good the sushi / sashimi was at this place. Didn't expect it from a food hall. WAY better quality tasting food than a more legit mid-level sushi places. Highly recommend coming here just for this. We got another roll to go because it was so good.“
“I was in the area during lunch by myself and was craving some sushi, so I found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out because the menu had chirashi bowl, which was exactly what I was looking for!I parked around the corner and walked to Kikyo. It was late past lunch rush hour so the place was pretty empty! I ordered my chirashi bowl, which came with salad and miso soup. The chirashi bowl was pretty good! It was smaller than other chirashi bowl for lunch I had, but it was perfect size for me. The quality of the sashimi was pretty good, especially the salmon. I did not care much for the other fish. I think if they had a salmon bowl only I would order that next time. Service was great, so attentive and very pleasant! They seem to have regular customers, which was a good sign. I would definitely recommend this place! Great sushi spot!“
“First and foremost, the service is friendly and timely, and the people running it have a genuine aura to the point I trust them with handling my food. And that is important to me!Del Amor and Dynamite Special rolls are my go-to's! Bomb every time. No raw fish in these. It's about $15-17 per roll. Their basic rolls are half this price. So many rolls to choose from! And I've tried many, but can't remember them all. I do remember being disappointed with their spicy tuna roll, but I'd be willing to try it again. Details on ingredients are shown in the menu. I've had their ramen, very flavorful. Spring rolls had a nice crisp, I enjoyed them. Wontons had a bit of a tough bite. Overall, I have had majority deliciousness from Sushi Loco and I've continued to be a returning customer. I have always ordered to-go, but there are a few tables available to dine-in. Located in a small center on the corner of LB Blvd. and 49th st.“
“Loved the food, service, and environment here! The sushi was made fresh and every roll was so delicious. The service was extremely welcoming. We had the mushroom bomb, tuna and salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and more. I recommend dipping the sushi with gochujang and soy sauce if you like something spicier, because I loved it. I recommend getting the fried tempura green tea ice cream. It reminds me of Taiyaki ice cream. I loved this hidden gem and would definitely come back.“
“This sushi restaurant is a good place to come eat lunch or dinner. The spicy tuna roll combo with chicken katsu was delicious. The soup as well. The lemonade was good. But the glass water by itself was not so great to be honest.3 lemonade $7.50.Dinner combo was $16.95The food was was very good. I appreciate the service here.“
“Excellent authentic Japanese izakaya restaurant. The biggest saba (grilled mackerel) I've ever seen! Huuuuge. I had the katsu - excellent. My daughter had the BBQ beef skirt teriyaki and I tried a piece and it was delicious. Service was awesome too. The couple who I believe own/run the place were super nice and gracious. A big TV with NBA basketball on - what more could you ask for?“
“Thank you Sen Sushi!! I was scrolling through Yelp recently to see where I can take my husband for his birthday. Sen sushi's sushi cakes popped up and I knew that's exactly what I wanted. I gave them a call and the lady that was working was very nice and explained to me that I can chose my own rolls and they can form it into a sushi cake for me. Everything was super easy. I even asked if I can bring my own cake toppers and she said it wasn't a problem. I told her the date and time we were coming and it was ready right when we got there. The rolls were delicious and my husband also said the sashimi, uni and oyster was very fresh as well. It was my daughter's first time eating sushi and she loved it. So happy that everything worked out and my husband loved his Rick and Morty Sushi cake. Thank you again Sen Sushi!“
“Place is ok, there are so many better places though! I would eat here if I didn’t want to go out too far. Black garlic ramen was seriously lacking flavor but the udon was good. Sushi was standard and the hoedeopbap was tasty, just didn’t have much fish. Maybe I’ve been spoiled but service was poor. Girl was trying to talk to me across a loud room and ordering was slow. It was only her working this particular evening so it might have been overwhelming. We were told at 9:10 that they closed at 9:15 (nicely told us to gtfo), but we were confused because google says they close at 9:30. Didn’t matter too much because we were about done anyways. Despite the negatives, definitely give it a try, palettes are always different. It wasn’t so bad that I wouldn’t come here again, could’ve been a one-off night and I always like to give establishments another shot.“
“Our favorite Sushi place! Our girls love No. 17 White Alaska Roll and I like No. 2 Rainbow Roll. No place can't beat their price and still will fill you up. All menus are freshly made upon your order. So delicious and healthy! I truly recommend this place for Moms who need to-go lunch or dinner for their family. They also offer catering menus.“
“Very cute place! Great food and amazing service. There is music, you can pick the music, the portions are very generous. There is also the option for full and small portions. You'll feel like a grandparent insisted on feeding you during a visit. Limited seating but a great place for pick up or delivery. They open early at 7am and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Korean drinks, Mexican drinks and soft drink/juices available. Delicious deserts are also available at full and half portions.Parking: Plenty of free parking.with spots designated for the restaurantKid-friendliness: Music, small portions for children or those using portion control.Wheelchair accessibility: Wide sidewalks and close free parking right in front of the restaurant“
“A very solid sushi spot in Monterey Park with a great selection of sushi and rolls.I ordered their salmon burrito, green onion sesame chicken, soft shell crab & the Kaiba roll. The salmon burrito was way bigger than I thought and can probably feed two people. The salmon tasted fresh and it was overall solid entree. The sesame chicken was crispy and delicious. I tried it with the tempura sauce and it took it to the next level. The soft shell crab was also delicious and flavorful. Their signature roll was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the lunch was very good and satisfying.Customer service was excellent and I’d definitely come back to this spot again to try their other menu items. Parking can be tough during peak times.“
“Delicious and thoughtful dishes. I mainly stick to sushi and wasn't disappointed here. The premium charashi gave generous slices and I appreciated the small chopped ginger and mushroom added to the rice.We tried a variety of fish and it was consistently melt-in-your mouth. I highly recommend the hamachi belly and sea bream - these really stuck out.The veggie tempura was light and balanced (unlike some places that either over batter or cut too thickly), and the agedashi tofu was something I didn't want to share with my partner. This place has an excellent price point for the quality of the fish. I usually eat at a couple spots in Pasadena, but this rivals them. The service was quick and our server was attentive. We will be back!“
“The absolute best sushi. Not over stuffed jumbo rolls with crabmeat and rice.. this is quality! Exactly how sushi should be. I can't get enough of Dakara and tell everyone I know to go there. I can never get tired of it, this is a restaurant you go to over and over and over for years because it's that good. You can't order wrong here, everything is delicious!“
“I was extremely sad that the sushi place in the montebello mall closed down. I came here and saw a lot of the same workers! The sushi was 11/10, ambience was 11/10 and Service was 11/10! I will totally be back and this just became my new all time favorite sushi spot compared to kaiba! Watch out Monterey park, this one is going to be in the newspapers“
“Cute unassuming sushi spot that isn't too busy! The server was kind and open to answering all my questions about what was and wasn't gluten free. I got the sashimi mix with steamed rice and didn't have any issues. The fish itself was fresh and for the price, I was satisfied with the portions. The chefs were also receptive about cleaning the cutting board and knives for my meal. This is definitely going to be my go-to neighborhood spot for sushi now.Gluten Free: Miso soupTamari-provided upon request Hot sakeEdamameNot gluten free:Salad DressingImitation Crab MeatPonzu“
“I wanted ramen but didn’t want to drive too far so I looked up ramen near me. Decided to give this place a try and I was impressed! Spicy tonkotsu ramen was so good! As well as the crunch roll. It’s always the low key places that have amazing food!“
“I don't usually care whether I eat clean or not, I'm just mostly concerned about the flavor and I couldn't believe how delicious these healthy rolls were. My favorite rolls were the sweet pork, kbbq beef, oh shiitake. The sauces were so AMAZING. I love the chili maple sauce. And their chili maple almonds are so addicting. Once I open a bag, I end up eating the whole thing in one sitting. Love Ganchic - it's probably my favorite spot to date!“
“Found this spot after going to the Van Gogh Experience. They open late and amazingly, their food is delicious. Service is good too - a bit busy at 9pm but we got our food quickly. One thing I have to note is that there's a bunch of napkins on the floor by the kitchen and the staff just walk around them, making the place look unkept. Overall, they are still my go to when I'm in the area.“
“The food is excellent! The staff is always pleasant and attentative and they give you a complementary bowl of edames to start. Tokoro is reasonably priced, you get alot for your buck. My sister and I order the Deluxe Udon Combination for $23.95 and share it. I usually order the miso soup and a salad on the side. The combination is alot for one person, atleast for me it is. I highly recommend Tokoro for Japanese food. I stopped going to some Japanese restaurants I used to frequent because the price, ambiance and quality is much better at Tokoro!Parking: Free parking is in back.“
“Great location literally down the street so makes for a convenient walk for lunch. Tried the spicy ramen and went with the fav chicken teriyaki plate. Overall the spicy ramen had enough kick but not an excessively hot burn. Scallions and sprouts and half a hard boiled egg. Over all mid of the road. But cannot beat the cost to value. Teriyaki chicken is always good. The staff is super nice and service s quick. The location is busy and although small not crowded. You will enjoy !“
“Out of all the seafood places I've been to this has to be the best one yet. I have to say, as soon as you walk in the customer service is great The food was awesome and the atmosphere is nice. (Music/TV) This is our new seafood place and I can't wait to go back.“
