“The atmosphere inside, as the evening closes it's wonderful since the giant window gets a nice bit of sunlight, it's calm inside which is offset by three One Piece wall prints. One of them decided to splice one piece into "onep" "iece" which I found very avant garde. The takoyaki was great, hard to get it wrong but obvious when so Edamame was plentiful and garlicky, exactly what I expected from garlic butter edamame Our rolls were excellent, you can taste the quality is definitely above average Service was attentive, I enjoyed eating here and would be back if in the area, prices are a little up there but understandable“

“We tried the combo skewers, millionaire green bacon, and salted egg kombucha. Everything was tasty! It was pretty busy on a Friday night. There was a wait by 6:30pm, but food service was quick. They don’t serve alcohol currently, but you can BYOB for a small fee.“

“We made a reservation which cost $10 but we didn't make it in time so we missed our reservation but we were still able to be seated quickly. They were just two of us. On a Friday night..The vegan ramen was delicious and the rice pudding was as well.“

“This is an interesting place. Have some Japanese dishes on the menu like gyoza and udon.... And contest style skewers .... And Thai ice tea? The Thai ice tea is cute though because they use the teddy bear shaped ice.Skewers are good. The servers bring them out without plates and put them on a hot plate on your table. That's pretty clever. The sets come on its own hot plate.Udon was decent.Decor is a bit weird? It's cool when you first walk in and see the flowers and lanterns and umbrellas hanging from the ceiling but there are a lot of other elements that don't seem to fit together...“

“Tasty meat skewers grilled over a charcoal fire, along with a decent selection of beer and sake. Some skewers can sell out quickly, though. Service was subpar, starting with the check-in process that was very disorganized. Tables are small so the plates will fill up quickly if you order too much food.“

“Was around the San Mateo area and decided to try this new place. They have a variety of Japanese food options but doesn't specialize in anything. They have fried/grilled tapas, sushi, ramen, donburi, bento boxes, and more. They open until midnight which will be great for late night eats with a couple of drinks. Service was decent and space was large. Ankimo - great deal (10$) for a decent size and taste fresh. Curry with pork Katsu - not much meat and it was a lil tough to chew. It seems like the cutlet was uneven fried. Curry was not anything special. Crazy monkey roll - eel inside and hamachi/sake on top. Classic roll, I would recommend ordering a side of spicy Mayo for extra flavor!“

“Great service, and the skewers were great! We ordered a variety of skewers and most of them, though a little pricey, were very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Chicken Thigh with Green Onions, the Bacon Tomato which was bursting with flavour, and the Beef Tongue. We tried the Scallop with Uni skewer, but felt that the flavours didn't work too well with each other. The Curry Gyutan Over Rice dish that we got was a bit disappointing though, as the meat was not that high of quality, so would definitely recommend sticking with ordering just skewers. Great atmosphere and nice seating on both first and second floors. You could also smell the grills of the kitchen, which definitely helped make this feel like an authentic Japanese skewer place!“

“I can't believe I haven't been to this place in about a decade! That's only a testament to the fact that we have so much great food in the city and not a reflection upon this restaurant because it's still fantastic. A great mix of food to share, including raw bar, yakitori, salads and vegetables, and ramen. Tried a little bit of almost everything but sadly our eyes were bigger than our mouths. We'll just have to come back again soon!“

“The veggie miso ramen has changed recipes and is not the same to the previous ownership. Devastated that I didn’t know the last time I had it would have been my last forever. I hope the new ownership does well here. But my search for my go to ramen spot sadly is beginning after tonight’s meal.Broth wasn’t hot enough. The entire dish tasted over salted. Positives: the new set up felt refreshing. The service was polite and welcoming.“

“I enjoyed this place. Parking is an absolute mess and if you have a large part there will be a bit of a wait but they brought the sushi out fairly fast and kept asking us if we wanted to order more. We had the all you can eat sushi and paid about 50 per person. I will definitely be back.“

“Ok, so if you never had true Wagyu let me tell you get it here! I don’t usually go to Japanese restaurants but have started more recently and I’m in love with the politeness, the culture of privacy and respect it’s very pleasant. The sake was super good. Loved the atmosphere 5/5 on food, 5/5 for flavor and 5/5 for design. And it’s 6 minutes away from the San Francisco Airport.“
