“Coffee was great! Service was exceptional! We chatted with the server for a while, and she was very friendly and fun. She listened carefully to our order and made adjustments we requested (needed for health reasons). We really enjoyed this local alternative to the big coffee chains. We had to get on the road, but if we had time, we would have liked to sit at one of their indoor tables or the nice outside patio that looks out on the park. We will visit Milano every time we visit San Diego. It was THAT good.“

Tazza D'Oro Cafeteria • $

“I wish we had taken pictures of the foam on our latte because it was so perfect but I had to at least review this place. Very cool place with quality ingredients, from wine to meats and cheeses but we were in for the coffee. We both ordered a latte and be aware this is not your walk into Starbucks and ordered a flavored latte type of place. The latte is straight espresso topped with foam. This has to be the best latte I've ever had in my life so far. The barrista did an amazing job on making something that is usually so bitter but was perfectly nutty and had a perfect fluff foam.“

“I had gastro surgery end of December. This hospital was GREAT. No ridicules wait times. Very helpful team and nurses. In the hospital for 2 days with very painful surgery. Unfortunately, I woke up after 5.5-hour surgery and was less than cordial to the staff. I wanted pain meds STAT. They were VERY helpful, explained the time needed between meds, and because a clock is in recovery, I could make sure not one minute passed over the time. I felt the need to apologize for my attitude the next day. The nurses were VERY polite and said it happens a lot. Great Staff. Great Hospital. Great Surgeon...Dr Leudke.“

Hard Copy Cafe Cafe • $
1100 Union St 3rd floor, San Diego

“Hard Copy Cafe was impressive for an unassuming coffee shop in the Central Courthouse. The drink and food menu is quite elaborate, with plenty of prepared foods and prepackaged foods at the ready. The prices seem decent, especially for a cafe that knows its customers don't have many options. I didn't try any of the food items but was happy to see a wide variety of muffins, bagels, chips, sandwiches, parfaits, and other quick bites. I tried to order a blended white mocha, but the cashier let me know that wasn't possible due to an issue with the blender. Her phrasing was a little odd, stating something like she's not sure if she can use the blender so she prefers if I order it iced or order another item. I got an iced white mocha instead. I asked what types of milk they had and she listed multiple nondairy options like oat, soy, and another one or two I forget. I assume they also have cow's milk, but she didn't specify any of those in the milks she informed me of. The iced white mocha was delicious! The oat milk was creamy and the drink was sweet and flavorful. For $4.29 (+$0.50 for oat milk), this wasn't a bad price for a small iced coffee. The cafe did look busy while the jurors were on a break, but the line was short and the wait after ordering was about 5 minutes when the jurors weren't present. I went for work so was not constrained to patronizing the cafe only while everyone else is there. I'd certainly return for a drink, and I'd feel comfortable trying a food item if I had to be at the courthouse all day.“

“Ford was really good! I had steak, lobster, corn, baked potatoe, fried rice, and salad for $6...you can't get a meal of that size for the price in California. After I went, I thought about McDonald's on base and I would've spent over $10 for a "value meal."“
