“purposely came due to the nostalgic aspect of it being in the movie Halloween III. super cool vintage vibe just like from the Tom Atkins scene in the movie. great beers on tap and clean bathroom. bartender had a very nice British accent and was very accommodating. a buddy of mine was with me and we got to hang out with some of the bar regulars. they shared stories about the area and gave us some real nice recommendations in regards to film locations. we took some pics with the bartender and regulars before making our way to the famous church from the movie THE FOG. definitely stop by and grab some drinks if you're in the area !!“

Plates are tapas style and the bar is full, with an advantage for mezcal enthusiasts. Bonus- The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They recommended some drinks for us to try and gave us some suggestions on the entrees. The drinks were great and we recommend the sea bass! Nice atmosphere with good service and lots of mezcal.“

“This place was amazing. We came it with a group of 10, and we got set up with a table right away. They got our orders quickly, and then appetizers and food came out just as quick. However, the food was probably the best Korean fried chicken I have had in a long time. The sauce flavors were delicious, chicken was crunchy. Definitely have to try Korean BBQ , Lemon Pepper (dry), and the Sweet Chili Wings. Even the Bulgogi Pizza was great. Great little hole in the wall spot. Will have to come backWheelchair accessibility: It's a dive in location off the strip of the downtown location. “Historical Pasadena restaurant that some people forget about. I hadn’t been here for years until this evening. I’d give 5 stars, but my pork chop was dry and little overcooked. Everything else was wonderful, including the drinks. It’s very intimate inside, but as the restaurant fills up it gets quite loud. “I recently moved to the area and this was our first time at The Proper Restaurant but it most certainly won't be our last. Everything ... and I mean everything was excellent! I started out with the Proper Clover Club cocktail and it was so refreshing and delicious. My husband and I then shared the white chicken chili which was equally delicious. For our entrees, my husband ordered the miso salmon which was out of this world and I got the chicken piccata. The chicken was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded and the pasta was tossed in a wonderful lemonny piccata. I also had a Malbec which was so smooth, I wanted to order the whole bottle (but alas, I did not). And since everything else was so good, we couldn't leave without ordering dessert -- the warm butter toffee cake. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. HIGHLY recommend!FOOD: They have reasonable lunch specials available from which we ordered the chicken enchiladas & al pastor street taco. Both were great & very tasty. I also had a craving for chilaquiles so we ordered that off the regular menu and my cravings were very well satisfied. We forgot to order the highly recommended shrimp empanadas but that’s a perfect excuse for us to go back soon!DRINKS: I mean they are truly one of the highlights of our meal. The signature “La Sexy Michelada” was one of the best I’ve had. It literally had a whole half of a mango seasoned with chamoy & tajin balanced on a tamarind candy stick in a large glass mug liberally rimmed with chamoy & tajin. The michelada itself was perfectly made IMHO. My aunt ordered the Margarita Flight and she thought every single one was delicious & unique. “I don't leave many reviews but I felt compelled because of the level of customer service that I received from the manager, Jarod. I had dinner delivered, an item was labeled correctly but when I opened the container it was something else. I called the restaurant. He apologized, no big deal. He said he'd refund the item. The following day he calls me back to tell me he can't refund the item on his end. I need to contact the 3rd party delivery. He will make sure I get my item for free and throw in a desert upon my next delivery. I just need to contact him after placing my order, he will guarantee to put them in the bag coming to me.It's not that I'm getting something for free but that he took the time to reach out to me to make sure I got the refund I was entitled to. The rest was above and beyond my expectations. I liked the food enough that this was my second order in as many days but this propelled them to the top of my favorite restaurants in my area. I will probably order again very soon. Thanks, Jarod. Forgive me if it isn't spelled correctly.“

“This was my first time at the Raymond. I subtracted 1 star for service. It wasn't bad, just could be polished up a tad. Plates were left on the table between courses necessitating the server to clear them. The food was very good. It's not fine dining—does not pretend to be so—it's more akin to the casera vibe. It's as if you were eating at a friend's home, albeit a friend that really knows how to cook. We sampled the chicken and the pork chop. The chicken was outstanding. As we all know, chicken is a challenging protein to cook perfectly. And it was. It arrived hot and juicy and expertly seasoned. My comment on the pork is only representing my own flavor profile; I found it to be needing a bit more pan sauce. And, for me, the Dijon mustard came on a bit too strong and overwhelmed the delicacy of the subtle pork flavor. We really enjoyed the ambience. Both outside and inside were a comfortable environment to enjoy a nice, un rushed meal. We will return.“

“3.25.24 After picking up my daughter from school today, I decided to treat us out to dinner instead of cooking. I tend not to cook the days she's not with me, and lately...I had been avoiding cooking. I don't know why, but lately I had been led to Old Town Monrovia quite often. Very weird! Anyway, before I start my review, I would like to give a shout-out to my lovely Yelp friend, *drum rolls* ....dum....dum...dum...tak. Ladies and gentlemen please give a round of applause to KATHERINE for her awesome Yelp review that led me to The State tonight. The State was located on the corner of Myrtle and Lemon, actually it was near the corner. Parking: There were plenty of parking spaces around, but you can find more parking spaces on a nearby parking lot (free), turning right on Lemon (going East) if you're heading South on Myrtle. The parking lot was located across from the Fire Station. The posted sign on the parking lot stated a 3-hour parking from 8am-5pm Tips: Happy Hour, M-Fr 11am-6pm. I missed the Happy Hour today. I got there at 6:30PM Brunch: SAT, SUN: 10AM-3PM Specials: Monday-Mules $6 Tuesday-Margaritas $6, Tacos $2.5 Wednesday-Old Fashioned $8, Toki Highball $6 Thursday- All Wine by The Glass 1/2 off What were ordered My daughter ordered the following: -Pasta Primavera $20 (She enjoyed it and finished her plate. I tried it and it was tasty to me.) -Creme Brûlée $10 (Delcious) I ordered -New York Steak Medium Rate $38. It came with tenderstem broccoli and mash potatoes. (It was juicy and tender. My daughter tried it and she liked the steak) -Wedge Salad $11 (I liked it. My daughter didn't. She was more of a caesar salad fan) -Avocado Wraps $12, came with 3 wraps (I liked it. My daughter didn't try because she didn't like avocados) -Short Rib Tacos $12, came with 3 tacos (I do not recommend. For me the flavor of the meat was not good. My daughter said it was too spicy and she didn't like it. She was attacking me for not telling her it was spicy, making it sounded like I did that on purpose. I didn't even know they had chopped jalapeños in it) Total after tax was $113.56, with 20%ish tip $136.56 Overall the food was good, service was great, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Talking of which, we saw ambulance and firefighters activity during dinner. Of course I had to snap a pic to share with you all. Oh the place was very busy, no empty table inside. We were offered to sit at the bar or outside (they thought my daughter was 21 or something haha). I chose to sit outside and thankfully they had heating lamps right above us...it was very warm. One minor issue: When my daughter and I first arrived at The State and waited at the hostess lectern to be seated. The waitress and waiter were busy in the back by the bar area cleaning glasses. The waiter decided to wave at me to come to the bar, instead of coming to the front to the hostess stand to seat us. I was thinking to myself "What the heck was that? Uhhh no. You come to me". He kept waving at me trying to get my attention and I ignored. I stayed put until one of them, the waitress, decided to stop what she was doing and came to us to ask us if we wanted to sit at the bar or outside. Other than that, everything else was great and we had a great time.“

“Pretty restaurant with inside and outside seating. The service and food are excellent. We have eaten here several times for lunch and recently had dinner here. The hostess is always friendly and kind. There are high tables with stools and low tables with chairs inside. They give you the choice for seating. If you sit outside, there are trees and it does not seem like you are on Foothill Blvd. The food is very good as well as the drinks. I had a lavender champagne cocktail that was delicious.I ordered the special- halibut and there were no leftovers to take home!Very nice neiborhood restaurant with great chef and service.Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options or ask your server.Dietary restrictions: Ask your server. This is a well-run restaurant so they can adjust meals for you.Parking: I always park on a side street. There is a small lot in the back, but I prefer to park on a side street. I rather walk a block or two to avoid parking in a small crowded lot.“

“STEPH JUDGEMENT: A casual, comfortable bar with weekend happy hour FTW! We'd been to the Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach a few times but had no idea there were other locations. We'd come out of an art show at the Armory nearby and wanted to grab a drink and a snack in the area before heading back. While wandering around, I happened to spot their sign down a side street and we decided to investigate. The ambiance was open and inviting, with many windows letting in the sunshine--very different from the Long Beach location, which is cool but underground. There were a bunch of fun and interesting signs and items on the walls, and they also had a parklet outside. It was fairly busy on a Sunday afternoon--the people perhaps drawn in by their weekend Happy Hour, but their prices seemed reasonable overall anyway. We decided to sit at the bar and I got an old fashioned and the hubby a whiskey sour, and we decided to share a grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was excellent, especially the sandwich, which was pressed panini-style and served with pickle chips that were an unexpected and awesome accompaniment--the little zing of acid really livened up the cheese and bread. The bartenders were cool, and it was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We wouldn't hesitate to return the next time we're in the area.“
