“Listen…I just moved back to San Francisco after living in Texas for some time and also have family roots in Louisiana. My grandfather used to have his own gumbo spot there and his recipe was my absolute favorite until I came to Gumbo Social. The food here is SO good and I can’t wait to come back with friends and family. Thank you thank you thank you for making my day!“
“The food, service, ambience, music...everything was FANTASTIC. What a wonderful place. We will definitely come back soon- a great place to bring out of town guests or celebrate a special event...or just have a really great date night. We had dinner here and then went to a comedy show at Speakeasy Brewery around the corner- so fun!“
“Please try this restaurant. I was visiting SF with my husband while he took the State BAR, and after a long, taxing day of testing, we found Gentilly and it breathed life back into him. We ordered the Cajun pasta and the dish with the pulled pork, ribs, and mac. Outstanding food. Ribs slipped off the bone. They have a nice selection of non-alcoholic craft sodas, plus lots of awesome cocktails...which I ordered the second night because we HAD to go back! The first night we ate in the back room and another table was doing a murder mystery which was really cool. We ate in the lounge on the second night and chatted with our server, Jessica - - super cool human being, so kind and engaging! Someone came in and the bartender new him by name, asked if he wanted his favorite thing, and put his program on the TV. It was so wholesome and made it feel homey. I genuinely want to visit this area of SF just to go back to Gentilly! This restaurant is obviously a passion project and I'm so happy places like this exist. My only complaint is that it's so far away from where I live! Then again if I lived close to Gentilly I'd probably gain a lot of weight, especially since they serve a brownie with ice cream and salted caramel. You'd be doing yourself a great disservice if you didn't try it!“
“I've been to this place many times I do like their food I gave them four stars because as far as southern food goes I have had better. But would I stop going here no it is good food and I do recommend the place. Last time I went here I had their hard knocks omelet which was good had spinach and bacon bacon was a little undercooked and as I cut into the omelet all the stuff fell out which tells me that the cheese was not put over the rest of the food in the omelet it was all down in the bottom which I don't like I think if you're going to make an omelet you should do it the way I do it and make sure that when you cut into it you get a little cheese along with the other stuff in the omelet not just a pile of vegetables or whatever on your plate.Kid-friendliness: Definitely there is food for kidsWheelchair accessibility: It is on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible with tables where you could pull the wheelchair up to it to eat“
“A few days ago while visiting San Francisco I enjoyed a long walk from The Embarcadero to Tastebuds restaurant located just blocks from Golden Gate Park.Once I arrived, I was comfortable with the relaxed atmosphere and was welcomed by the friendly team of employees. It’s casual dining where ordering takes place at the counter then delivered to your table. All of the food coming out to the other tables looked really good; you can imagine I was anxious for mine to arrive. Plus I was very hungry after walking almost 5 miles to get there. The fried chicken sandwich with southern fries did meet or exceed my expectations. The cold IPA and water helped quench my thirst. Additionally I later enjoyed the fried chicken ceasar wrap with potato salad which I had as take away. 5 stars all around and I do plan to return on future visits to The Bay Area.“
“I've had Vegan Mob at 4 different locations and this one's another great one. I had already been going to Hangry Planet for a late night vegan snack so it was a nice surprise to see that Vegan Mob would start operating the food truck in their parking lot. I could use another spot in SF but this is cool cause I can go to Hangry Planet for a beverage or vegan ice cream coneSmackaroni for the win.“
“OMG, the seasoning on the fried fish was so good!! I ate up all of the cabbage because it was full of flavor. And the candied yams were just perfect. These guys know what they're doing! They're in a food truck in the parking lot of the Hunter's Point Speakeasy.“

“Southern staples (barbecue, fried seafood, blackened options) served with two sides. Stewed Cabbage side, a highlight. Fried Shrimp, on Po Boy Sandwich or as a side (pay per shrimp), excellent.Industrial interior speaking to the pier-side past of Dogpatch is novel.Only comment is the crispy fried batter could be a little less greasy. Complimentary corn bread muffins, delicious with salty butter.“
“I've been a resident of San Bruno for over 18 years and I had no idea that a year and a half ago Chef May transformed this place into a deliciously Soulful BBQ Shack! The atmosphere and vibe was inviting relaxed and very pleasant. Plenty of seating but the menu is very limited. I strongly recommend that you get there early because food options run out quickly and choices become very limited. The line forms and I was there and watched Chef May have to turn away several customers because she had sold out.My son and I enjoyed burnt ends, ribs, beef, barbecue baked beans, collard greens and cornbread. It was all extremely filling, wonderfully seasoned and very flavorful.Chef May herself is a fantastic soul who totally enjoys what she's doing and the food she preparing. Felt like family instantly. Finally some delicious barbecue and soul food right here in San Bruno! Thanks Chef May, I'll make sure to tell everybody I know keep doing it!Parking: There is a free parking lot however you'll be lucky if there's ever a space available because it's extremely small. You're better off finding a spot on El Camino and just walking up.“
“After a 5 hour trip from South Florida to the Bay, HANDS DOWN THE BEST CHICKEN AND WAFFLES SAN FRANCISCO HAS TO OFFER!!! I tried the 2 piece Breast and Wing with Waffle, collar greens & bomb mac N cheese and I'm still licking my fingers ater my meal! This is why I support small business! Who ever is visiting and looking for a Homemade cooked meal, Keith's Chicken N Waffles is the spot to go! I'm definitely coming back before I head back to South Florida! Keep up the good work and hospitality as this place is a DIAMOND in a ruff!“
