“For the price, the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls and specialty rolls are very good. I wasn't impressed with the Chinese dishes. Many are mainland Chinese style where bones and bone fragments are normal in these dishes, making these hard to eat for someone not used to bite carefully and then spitting out bones in front of guests, etc. It may be acceptable in China and in front of Chinese guests.Parking: May have to park further away during busy meal times. I think it's owned by the same people running the Red 99 Grill bistro on the same block that also draws many customers. Shiki buffet also draws customers and parking close to the restaurant may be difficult during meal times.“

“Delicious and fresh seafood every time. The platters were amazing and the prices are very reasonable. The shop is filled with all types of snacks and additional sides to complete your meal. All the staff and chefs are super nice and very helpful. We went with Platter F & G.“

“Sushi Kisen continues to punch well above its weight and it is 1/3 the price for the same quality as some of the now outrageously expensive sushi places in LA.For about $120, our omakase today included about 10 courses and 2 additional pieces we selected at the end. The quality of the nigiri is self-evident, particularly with the chutoro and the Nemuro uni. Another particular favorite was shiro-ebi. The chef confirmed that it is from Toyama. It should be mentioned that some pieces are ever so slightly on the saltier side (I confirmed that they do season with a drop of salt on some pieces), which I ended up liking but it might be a surprise to some. Extra points for the shari, which was flavorful on its own without taking away from the fish. I also highly recommend asking the chef if they have any seasonal items. We were very pleasantly surprised by our tsuika orders.When I do not have the time to enjoy an omakase at the bar, I would recommend their chirashi bowls.“

“So my baby boy Jude and I went there to get some early birthday sushi everything was great. Service was ok but the food made up for it.Parking: The place is located in Uptown Whittier so for everyone that is not familiar with the area not to worry there is plenty of free parking available all in their parking lot and the streets.Kid-friendliness: It's NOT a cocktail bar it's a Family restaurant with a Sushi bar my kid had a great time.“

Okinawa seaweed shooter with yamaimo and ikura 2. Jellyfish with kizami wasabi and 2 hr slow cooked abalone 3. Kumamoto oysters with green onion and ikura/uni 4. Shima aji, Chu toro and otoro 5. Sea Bream and golden eye snapper 6. Toro tartare with uni, ikura, truffle and avocado 7. Santa Barbara uni with black caviar and ikura 8. Japanese kegani 9. “Had a great meal here. I have gluten allergy and was worried they didn’t have anything gluten-free because the menu online didn’t mention it. However, I called and the person I spoke to was amazing and knowledgeable about the options. There were not tons but enough that there were things I could eat. I had the Bento box and they were able to adjust it so everything was GF. That did come with a hefty surcharge but it’s worth it to me to know it’s all safe to eat. Sashimi is also an option however nigiri and rolls are not because there is soy in the rice.I’ve knocked down my review because there are plenty of Japanese restaurants that fully accommodate gluten allergies and I’ve been told by chefs and owners that at this point it’s not hard to do.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options but next extensive. The nigiri and rolls are not GF as there is soy in the rice (as of the time of my review)“

“Had a great dinner at Kogane again. The food and service were great. The sushi chefs were friendly and gave very interesting tidbits about the fish, process and taste. The meal lasts about 1 hr and 45 min. Since everyone eats at the same rate for each dish through the course, don't forget to be on time. :)“

I order the a la cart cut rolls such as the the albacore roll and the yellow tell. Sometimes I will order it either of them spicy. My wife loves the rainbow roll, baked mussels, and fresh oysters. My son who is two mind you like the temura udon and the rainbow roll. Yes he loves sushi. Usually our bill is around 100 including tip. If we invite others it is more. “Found this spot after going to the Van Gogh Experience.They open late and amazingly, their food is delicious. Service is good too - a bit busy at 9pm but we got our food quickly. One thing I have to note is that there's a bunch of napkins on the floor by the kitchen and the staff just walk around them, making the place look unkept. The lunch menu is more limited compared to the dinner menu. I got the Chirashi Regular which came with 8 fat cuts of sashimi, 2 sweet eggs, 1 piece of fried chicken, masago, and seaweed salad all on top of a bed of sushi rice. I loved the sashimi, they were generous cuts. The fish didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked and the fried chicken piece wasn't crispy. I wouldn't go grocery shopping there, but I would come for lunch and maybe pick up a few snacks and things to cook dinner that same evening. As for their food, everything was good. I would say Yama Fish Market's fish is way fresher and better tasting though if you only intend on getting raw fish.“

“Tucked in Downtown Monrovia, this small restaurant has really fresh sushi! We visited on a recent Saturday for lunch. Inside has maybe 3-4 seats at the sushi bar, 3 small tables, and a couple tables outdoors were its pet friendly. I got the salmon don and it was fresh and delicious. It comes with miso soup and the best tasting salad dressing I've ever had. We also shared the lime roll, scallops sushi, ono sushi, albacore sushi and miso cod. The roll was only okay, and I definitely preferred the sushi. The miso cod was tender and soft, I felt very healthy eating all the delicious fish. Our waiter was super friendly and nice, it made for a great lunch experience!“

I'm accustomed to a different cut of meat for beef teriyaki so was surprised but enjoyed the flavor. LOVED the super crunchy not greasy tempura! I ordered to go so didn't each for about 15 mins. Tempura was crunchy to the last bite of the last piece! Also had the spicy salmon sushi, which I found quite good. I'll definitely go back and try other menu items. Staff was welcoming and kind. “Thank you Sen Sushi!! I was scrolling through Yelp recently to see where I can take my husband for his birthday. Sen sushi's sushi cakes popped up and I knew that's exactly what I wanted. I gave them a call and the lady that was working was very nice and explained to me that I can chose my own rolls and they can form it into a sushi cake for me. Everything was super easy. I even asked if I can bring my own cake toppers and she said it wasn't a problem. I told her the date and time we were coming and it was ready right when we got there. The rolls were delicious and my husband also said the sashimi, uni and oyster was very fresh as well. It was my daughter's first time eating sushi and she loved it. “My wife and I came here on a Saturday night and there were maybe about 3 other tables occupied. There was live music which was great. We didn't see anyone working so we sat ourselves in a booth and patiently waited for someone to take our order. Ended up ordering the botana la palma and ceviche de pescado. About 5-10 minutes later we were informed there were no more fish for the ceviche, so we decided to go with shrimp instead. The service was a bit slow or non existent. Maybe because the restaurant was hosting a paint&sip on the other side and required the waitress' attention. Nonetheless the food was amazing! Seafood tasted fresh and full of flavor. Where it went a bit wrong was when we got our bill. I typically just double the tax for a 20% tip, but didn't realize until afterwards that 1. The tax was off and 2. We got the wrong bill. The botana la palma was $25 and ceviche i believe was around $19, but was charged $25 for sashimi de atun azul. The tax was only $2.49 so our tip was unfortunately lower than intended (sorry, I was tipsy). My fault for not checking, but I was in a rush. Overall, would definitely come back, but will double check my bill.“

It was just a few blocks away from campus, and seemed to be pretty popular with students on a given weekday. Inside, our server got us to our tables and welcomed us with water and miso soup. She was super friendly and gave us plenty of time to order :). I went with the katsu lunch combo, which also came with california rolls, and mac salad. It tasted great, with the katsu being very crunchy and the mac salad being the perfect complement to the meal. I thought the California rolls were great too!“

This is the third different location I’ve been to in this local chain and the service and quality of food is consistent. The eel is cut generously and is very meaty! Tastes incredible. Normally there isn't much eel or it can be fatty. Three amigos The spice is a bit smoky to me. Not sure how I felt about that first bite, but the heat did grow on me. My mouth has a nice heat. Good sized scallops. The spicy part does cover up the flavors of the seafood. Spicy Salmon Salmon is my go-to raw fish.. but today I went spicy. It was very overwhelming! A bit too much sesame oil that it drowns out the taste of the actual fish. Probably go back to regular salmon hand roll again. Very nice servers. Overall it was a descent sushi place for lunch. Will bring co workers next time.“

Tried the two roll special for $23.50 includes the two rolls and a miso soup. Great deal and guys the scorpion roll is the best thing you will ever put in your mouth. Highly recommend!
