“AJ's is a local gem nestled in the center of a plaza right off the main road in Higganum. For those of you traveling back from the beach in the summer, it's a winner. For me, I wanted to visit a new town in CT and pick a place to eat. I'm glad I chose AJ's. When you walk in the main section is set up for takeout with a plexiglass view behind the counter where the pizza is made. To the right is the main seating area if you are choosing to dine in. The seating is casual and has a home like an American diner vibe. If you are looking for good Italian at good price, AJ's is your place. Their menu contains all your standard Italian dishes for dine in and takeout as well as pizza and grinders. The menu is a two-sided page, and there is a separate special sheet given as well. Although I love me some standard Italian dishes, after reading some reviews, I knew that was either going for their grinders or taking a chance on their specials. Welp folks, special it was. They had 3 that week, and I chose to try their Chicken Andouille. This dish consisted of a creamy sauce with chicken, Andouille sausage, capers, and squash mixed into penne pasta. Wow. Delicious. The spicy kick to the sausage gave it a creamy heat, and I loved the nice touch of capers and crunchiness of the squash. The squash was cooked but not overcooked (sometimes it can get mushy, but not the case here). When we went today, the inside was quiet. Just a few tables had people. That's okay with me. It allows me to relax a bit as I eat and enjoy the food. The server was great. She was all smiles and bringing us everything in a timely fashion. If you are driving through Higganum and need a place to grab a lunch or dinner at a reasonable price, check out AJs. You won't regret it.“
“Moodus DaVinci - Okay, as if I haven't spammed the internet enough already about this place, I HAVE to post about my wrap. I got the Chipotle Steak wrap. It was a decent size portion. I saved half for lunch today. The best part? it was JUST as delicious upon reheat as it was last night!!! it wasn't soggy. It did not fall apart. Most importantly, it was so so good!!! There's nothing I would have added or taken away. I can't wait to get it again! Since I haven't left a review on this page specifically yet, I'll add that the wings here are phenomenal!! There's many kinds but garlic parm is my fav. So, if you're looking for a good wing spot in this neck of the woods - look no further!“
“Sal worked with us for my grandsons baptism party. The roast beef was tender and flavorful. Lemon chicken was amazing. Roasted vegetables with hot peppers, WOW! Roasted potatoes, fantastic! Portions are more than expected. Sal is wonderful to work with and you will not be disappointed with the food“
“A gem in this pretty town! Ordered white clam pizza and cheese pizza. Pizza's crust was thin and fragrant. Both pizzas were fantastic. Cheese pizza was not too salty and tasted just perfect. White clam pizza was just so good too. Staff were also friendly and setting was very casual. Hope to be back!“
“Absolutely the best pizza I have ever had, these guys and girls know their stuff, if you love pizza then go here to meet your pizza soul mate because you will be in heaven with the first bite...!!Kid-friendliness: We brought our grand child there his name is Otto and they gave him a free t shirt ...who does that these days ....?“
“In CT, we are so lucky to be blessed with a million great pizza options- Brickside Pizza is among them in this area for sure! Great little takeout spot with big flavors! We got the Sunday Dinner with meatballs, ricotta and sauce. We also tried the prosciutto arugula pie as well! They are stocked with plenty of fox on park sodas as well to grab on the way out!“
“If there was 5 star for take out - Centerbrook Pizza wins the Michelin Star. The food is deliciously homemade from their pizza to their pasta and all the salads and grinders in between .The service is family based - from Mike, the master in the kitchen to Anna , his wing woman, you both are best and go beyond for your customers ! ! Added shout to Norma , you are a great front person and you make super grill cheese.Want a great meal, go to Centerbrook !“
“Always a hit for my family! It’s a favorite spot in town!Dietary restrictions: There’s something for everyone here! We do wish the GF pizza crust was dairy & egg free but we always find a way to fill everyone’s belly!Kid-friendliness: It’s a family go to for many in town!“
“The pizza and sauce are excellent. I ate here out of curiosity and was blown away. It was cheese and pepperoni nothing to fancy. Highly recommend. Three stars for the atmosphere due to just ordering and leaving. It doesn't strike me as a dine-in kind of place.“
“The Best New Haven style pizza in Madison. Great stuffed breads. Always friendly service. Weekends can be an hour+ wait, so order early. Only 2 tables inside after c19 & they're usually empty. They deliver & carry Foxon Park soda.Parking: Shared plaza parking. Easy in and out.“
“Great food upbeat atmosphere and best of all NO DRAMA AT ALL. What more could you really ask for. It's kinda like where everyone knows your name and you like it. If you know you know lol, try it out for yourself you won't be disappointed.“
“This restaurant opened in a place that had been a happening pizza place, Mario's. After a brief shut down Agapi opened. Their food is such a higher caliber of good! I don't understand why it's not busier. The quality, taste and price are fantastic. We've tried their pizza's, burgers and traditional Greek dishes and will try even more things! Please give it a try.“
“Stopped there today for lunch after hiking. Will definitely be going back when we are in the area. We had a Delicious Italian grinder and southwest chicken wrap with large plate of fries! Very friendly staff and nice place for lunch! Very full when we left for our next hike!“
“I usually love their pizza but I would recommend going there in person for it or double checking it lately. Ordering online doesn't work since its hard to customize pizzas and ots a 10 minute longer wait minimum. We got 2 pizzas for pick up ordered over the phone. 1st the girl was handling more than one phone at a time so not really knowing if we had her full attention. 2nd we ordered the oozy egg no proscute with an extra egg instead. there was no proscute but also no extra egg and the eggs were on only half the pizza. my hubby asked for a side of red pepper flakes they gave him .5oz, kind of stingy. the 2 pizzas came to $38+ and at that price they could at least pay attention and get the order right. Even if they might have been busy, at least do a quality check or read the order back to the customer so it is right.“
“Went here when I was a young kid years ago, and after the brothers sold it, it went downhill for a while until they closed for remodeling, and lol they must have remodeled their food too because it’s one of the best Italian places I know of now!Everything from their pizza to calzones and meals are delicious. Had the eggplant Parmesan tonight and there was definitely enough to feed two people. It had a ton of delicious eggplant and a beautiful melted layer of mozzarella on top. And you get a side salad and 3 huge garlic knots. Their prices are more than fair for the price quality of the food you’re getting. The staff there is amazing as well. They sound like they actually care and are very polite and welcoming. When ordering over the phone a lot of these places sound like they dont care about your business, but pizza palace is the exact opposite.“
“Greeted so pleasantly the second we walked in. Seated right away. Delicious garlic knots! Amazing service from start to finish. We got a salad and a wrap, and it was just what we were craving! Finished up with some tea/coffee and cheesecake. Overall really wonderful experience, will definitely be returning!“
“Outstanding pizza !! 45 years Enjoying World Renowned New Haven Pizza as a comparison and without hesitation imoDa Vinci has mastered the thin crust with a variety of incredible pies - They also offer Foxon Park soda another Ct classic !!You must try this hidden gem !!“
“Five professional motor cycle riders who eat in a lot of food at different stops were very satisfied. Great prices/ great quality/ good quantity/fast service/ great waitress/ clean modern seating and restrooms/ ample free parking. Its now on our favorite list. Thank you for serving us so well!!“
“I LOVE Da Vincis! I work in town & was struggling to find a place that I liked for lunch. I eat a predominantly plant based diet & love my salads. I don’t like to get take out often, I tried a salad from the pizza place across the street from them once and was quickly disappointed. My coworker then suggested that I look at Da Vincis menu & the Leonardo Salad quickly caught my eye and has since stole my heart. I was a server for many years and I always get nervous asking for substitutions. The staff was so accommodating even though I’m a pain and ask for no cheese on my salad and the addition of a bunch of veggies! From what I hear from my coworkers the rest of their menu is just as delicious including the Mac & Cheese Bites, Baked Chicken Bites, Fried Pickles and Calzones to name a few. From the staff to the food everything is AMAZING! Every Friday I look forward to getting my salad from here“
“? GET A BURRITO ?Alright, here’s the deal. I’m a gigantic shill for DRP, all my friends know it. Something about their pizza does it for me, favorite style, super well done for that particular style, and it’s relatively affordable.I also love their subs, all of them. Shout out to the steak bomb and the TKO (chicken bacon ranch, honey mustard, mozzarella). They’re quick, the people are always SUPER SUPER SUPER friendly, and food comes out hot.But here’s the deal… they need a rebrand.I’ve seen burritos on the menu there for years and never thought to get one. With that said, nothing about this place screams “Greek” to me besides the font on the menu and the Ακρόπολις on the logo (alright maybe a few of the specialty pizzas - moussaka and town hall, I see you. Gyros, ολα εν ταξη, relax.)Tonight I finally did it, I got the carne asada burrito that they had on special and it blew my socks off. For $12 (market rate for the area IMO) you get a huge burrito, wrapped and easy to eat, no dripping, they grilled it, tons of steak and avocado. Man oh man, it hit the spot and I’m just so happy I could cry.Deep River Pizza Mexican. I don’t know if anyone that works there is Mexican, I don’t know if burritos are inherently Mexican, I don’t know what I don’t know and I want to be better. What I do know is that people need to know about this.Chester, Deep River, Essex is grossly devoid of a Mexican spot that’s open late BUT this is at least maybe Mexican adjacent and open late enough for me (9 pm weekdays, 10pm weekends).Get down to Deep River Pizza (Mexican?) and get yourself a burrito. You’re going to be mad that nobody told you to do it before.I am thrilled.?Parking: Learn to parallel park in beautiful Deep River!Kid-friendliness: Bring your kids, it’s a casual pizza place.Wheelchair accessibility: Once you get on the sidewalk, which is accessible, the door is flush.“
“Loving the vibe of krust. Always a cozy spot for friends to meet and have a night out on Main Street. Great services, great food, great drinks, and never gets old! Wish there was a location closer to Simsbury in our area! Pictures say it all. Huge fan of the pepperoni pies and hanger steak special appetizers.“
“Been since late summer since we were here so I forgot about this review. The food was amazing. We all had a wonderful meal. Almost no one else at the place. Husband and wife running it from what I remember. She was so sweet. I would love to go back here.“
“The BEST spicy Buffalo chicken pizza!! We had to do 1/2 cheese because of my kids.I loved the Tuscana salad w/ the Asiago cheese dressing. Everything was so delicious!! Staff was very nice and accommodating, we hardly had a wait for the pizza. Birch beer was yummy too!Kid-friendliness: our kids loved the cheese pizzaParking: if it gets too crowded, there is a grocery store nearby w/ plenty of parking. ?“
“They make a vegan sun-dried tomato linguini that is amazing. This is our go-to order when we have guests and it never disappoints. Clean and friendly. We really appreciate having this restaurant nearby with the vegan option.Vegetarian options: great vegan pasta - sun dried tomato linguini“
“Always has been and still is the best pizza in town. If you aren't looking for pizza they have other great items on their menu as well. If you've never tried their food, you should definitely give it a try. The staff is always friendly and the service is reasonably quick. There are some tables inside if you're looking to dine in, but it is primarily a take out restaurant as most pizza places are.“
“They did a very nice job with our catering order. We got the penne al vodka, chicken marsala, caesar salad, and chocolate chip cannolis. Everyone was very happy with all of the food! This was my first time ever ordering catering, and I’m so happy it was such a pleasant experience. Easily 5 out of 5 stars for this business!“
“What a great place! I was in the area for a wedding and my food allergies didn't allow me to eat what was provided. I called DaVinci's for a gluten free pizza pick up and they went above and beyond. I requested a salad pie with bacon and pepperoni which is not on their menu but they accommodated me! They even asked if they should leave the lettuce off so it wouldn't wilt on the way to my destination. Wonderful! They also gave me my balsamic drizzle in a little container so it wouldn't soak into the crust. It was delicious!! To top it off they are the nicest people! Highly recommend!“
“AMAZING!!!!!! This place and its service is awesome.I have been back more times than I can count and have NEVER had a bad meal. The servers are all friendly and willing to go out of their way to make your visit memorable. They have weekly specials that constantly change so its new and refreshing every time.“
“Super impressed with the food, and our waiter, Troy, was engaging, attentive, and super responsive to our requests. Great option for an affordable mid-week meal or a fancy weekend date. Food was very fresh and deeeeeeee-licious! I can see this becoming a very regular foray for me.“
