“On Sept 11th my husband & I enjoyed a delightful and most delicious meal. It was our anniversary and the staff made it even more special. The only downside is when we paid the bill we were not told that the tip would be POS entered separately from our account. My husband checked our account and he thought the tip had not been given. So he made a trip to Carmelo's to ask about why and to correct. He was told the tip was done separately - think this should be told to their guests. Thank you for a lovely evening and amazing food.”

“We called with a party of 10 and got a recording stating that reservations were not taken. We arrived and were told that there were no tables available and that we should have made reservations. We explained that we tried to and showed the Hostess the Website and number we called. We asked to speak with the Manager to make him aware of the website. Travis introduced himself and seated us temporarily outside( it was not the best of Florida weather this night) and had staff circle heaters around our table and brought us complimentary appetizers until they could accommodate all of us. Travis gave us his personal cell # and in our opinion went above and beyond to make this a Special Evening for all of us. This is not our first time here, but it was with such a large group. Justina was our Server and is Personality Plus The food is always excellent”

“When my sister and I were down from Sarasota this past weekend visiting my daughter and son-in-law, they treated us to The Perfect Caper. First impression: quiet elegance and a bit of sticker shock. Final impression: I’m still waking up thinking about that meal three days later. Not a restaurant, a dining experience!\n\nOur server, Eric, set the stage. He has perfected his profession, from giving us just the amount of help each wanted in making our choices, to serving each course at the perfect spacing for our dining preference, to being always there when we wanted something without ever hovering or being intrusive. It was as if we were the only table he was serving, which we definitely were not.\n\nAt 79, I have had to alter my eating habits with smaller portions and a bit less spice. With Eric’s help and hints, I chose 3 Pan Seared Scallops (no lemon), and a side of the Brussels Bacon. This turned out to be the perfect amount to leave me just enough room to enjoy one of the scrumptious desserts. The large scallops were pillowy puffs of perfection in a luscious brown butter sauce. I can still remember that first bite. As that silky morsel almost melted in my mouth, I was in love! The Brussels Bacon was the ideal accompaniment, grated and served in a tasty sauce, with bacon crumbles on top. No need to sacrifice flavor for any age limitations here, my taste buds felt totally pampered.\n\nThe others with me had similar positive comments about their Penne Sausagnaise, Filet, and Moroccan Spiced Lamb. We had started off with appetizers of pate and focaccia, both very good. Unlike some upscale restaurants, there was no hesitation at setting four appetizer plates to share the two appetizers. Eric’s goal was to provide OUR perfect dining experience, and he fully succeeded. We all went on to try a different dessert, and my Banana Pudding Tart was exceptional. My sister, daughter, and son-in-law, who know my eating habits well, all sat with dropped jaws as I finished the last bite.\n\nThis is the meal I have most enjoyed since I moved to Florida almost 30 years ago. I must give thanks to Eric for making this such a memorable experience, and to Chef Jeanie for giving us the opportunity to taste the wonderful fruits of her creative endeavors. I never expected this outside of New York. If our dining experience was typical rather than the exception, this restaurant should have Michelin stars!”

“We found our new go to restaurant. I called today to ask for a take out order. My husband wasn’t feeling well today and said he really wanted a nice pork belly ramen bowl. I looked up where I could go to get this and this restaurant came up near me. I gave it a shot and called a take out order. The lady who answered was super helpful in helping me with my order since I wasn’t familiar with the menu and was very patient with me. When I got there to pick up, the staff was amazing and made the place feel so welcoming. They seemed really happy and made the whole place shine. They packaged everything really nicely. When I got home to drop my husbands off, he was very happy and it was exactly what he was wanting. I brought mine to work and put it together there since they packaged the broth separately. Was absolutely amazing! Totally made my Friday. I got the shrimp one since the lady I spoke with on the phone recommended it to me based on what I was looking for since I wasn’t familiar with the menu. Amazing recommendation. Will absolutely order from here again in the near future. Prices were really reasonable for how good it was.”

“After a final walk through at Babcock national with my buyers out of state, decided to stop by at this new (to me) restaurant at Babcock . Everything was lovely…atmosphere, friendly service, food presentation..I got a glass of plum wine and lunch sushi/sashimi combo. It was very fresh and tasty 😋. One of the freshest sushi/sashimi i ve Gad in a while , California roll was one of the best i ve had ..w just a bit of rice and fresh fish. I shall return to such s fine establishment: ))”

“Amazing atmosphere with a great view of the TV in a variety of seating options including overstaffed chairs. The hostesses were very nice and accommodating, and gave us a variety of options of places to choose from in terms of where we wanted to sit. I was Marina was very attentive, personable and kind. The tin can nachos were the best nachos that my mom and I have ever had anywhere. We were here vacation just the two of us since we don’t get much mother-daughter time now that I am also a mom. This place is made us feel special and it was a lot of fun to have a dinner out! Highly recommend and if I lived closer, I would make this my go to spot!”

“Stopped in to Watson’s for National Ice Cream Day, they did not disappoint! So many flavors to choose from, they all sounded amazing. They have a large variety of toppings, cups sones, eaffle bowls, brownies, the combinations feel endless. The scoops are huge for the price. They were also having a 'Stanley' promotion, bring in your big cup and fill it for 1 price.

The OneBlood bus was in the lot and a 'Stanley' cup was your gift for donating. There was also a food truck.

We chatted with the owner while enjoying our scoops, turns out they have food trucks regularly. They also hold community events like blood donations and dog adoptions.

If you want not only great ice cream but also to frequent a shop that does good for their community, stop by Watson’s. Ask to have them add your dog's picture to their wall.”

“Mainely Seafood Café I wanted a Lobster Roll, so we had to stop by and see what this place is all about. It’s at the right end of Turtle Crossings shopping plaza on Burnt Store Road. This place was neat and clean and very well organized. It is a Café and Market everything inside is simple but fits the décor of a Seafood establishment. We got there around 12 noon and surprisingly we were the only people in the place. Our server Brianna came over to our table took our drink orders fast. They do serve alcohol and soft drinks. For starters we ordered the Creamy Lobster Bisque Soup, a Beer, and some Wine. For the main dish I ordered the Lobster roll Meal with has a ¼ pound of Lobster served on a split top bun with Butter, Fries and Cole Slaw for about 24.00. You can get it cold with Mayo or hot with Butter. I got an alternate side of Onion Rings instead of Fries for 3.00 extra. My wife just ordered the same thing but with the Fries. Our soup came out first and it was very good. Our Lobster Rolls came out shortly afterwards. The looked amazing and they were. The roll was toasted and overflowing with Lobster the butter to pour or dip into was a nice addition. The Onion Ring were done perfect as was the Fries. Even the Cole Slaw was pretty good. Brianna was on the ball asking us if everything was all right and checking on us, but I do wish she was a little more cordial. This is one of them so called hidden little gems and I for one can’t wait to go back. Make sure you put this on your to do list. I'm sure you could have provolone or something different if you choose to , but the sandwich was very good. The sausage had a good fresh flavor with a nice spice to it. Plus the pizza by the slice is good. I noticed that older people were seated eating plus young kids coming in to eat. Also workers coming in for lunch. The food is good and the place has a good character about it. The employees have a good personality and all seem to be welcome. Thanks”

Both dishes were served promptly and prepared to perfection, resulting in a very satisfying meal. The only suggestion is to put a little less butter on the grits. The cleanliness of the restaurant was very good, however the bathrooms, while generally clean, could benefit from a more thorough cleaning in the future (floor tiles and tops of tiles on wall). Nonetheless, I felt comfortable using the facilities. Our waitress, Christina, provided excellent service, contributing to the overall positive experience. For those seeking a reliable breakfast spot in Punta Gorda, this Waffle House is highly recommended. Even with the $.50 per egg surcharge, the price was very reasonable. I do not mind paying the surcharge. You can tell this restaurant is managed well.”

“My partner and I absolutely love Ichi Hibachi. We make an effort to come at least once a month because it is the one place in Punta Gorda that you can consistently get good service, good food, with a nice atmosphere to accompany those features. The owners are very kind and hard working which shows in the quality of their food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I order the steak yakisoba with the steak cooked Med rare, and it comes out perfectly each time! My partner is vegetarian, and she has never had any residue or signs of cross contamination with meats. It is incredible to even be able to say that since this is an issue we have often when ordering vegetarian dishes elsewhere in town. I would recommend this establishment to anyone coming to the area, and I appreciate the diversity in food options that Ichi Hibachi offers our town.”

Service was fast, almost too fast in that our meal arrived before we finished our salad and soup. The food was fresh and tasted great. I personally didn't care for the gravy (with the chicken dinner), but it was okay. Everything else was great. Portion sizes are large. Prices are very, very good. “Their soups are always top notch, and I tried their beef teriyaki for the first time today. Super thick pieces of beef, medium rare, with the perfect amount of flavour. It's the best we've ever had. We live in Tamps & now can't eat it at our local places because it can't compare.
Their crab rangoon is always a winner too.”

“Another Great Dish
We popped in for lunch the other day and I had my favorite Hot and Sour Soup and my wife had to try the Crispy Duck ($20.95). She loves duck and it’s not offered in too many places. My soup was great as always. The Crispy Duck was fabulous. A large half duck breast was perfectly fried with a light, crispy coating, then cut into strips and set atop a bed of mixed vegetables. As we ate in, they had a second plate with rice and a cup of a savory dipping sauce that probably had soy sauce, black bean paste and some other Chinese secret spices. This must have been on jumbo duck as there was a lot of food here. So much so that she had lunch the next day with the leftovers. Great dish No. 1 Wok!

Great Food, Great Prices
We’re always looking to try a new Chinese restaurant and found this one yesterday. Located just down from Muscle Car City, this place looks like all the other strip mall Chinese eateries. A few tables for dine in, a counter over which hangs the ever popular photos of Chinese dishes and an open view of the cooking area. They actually advertise themselves as ‘Chinese N Thai” and their menu is quite expansive. There is a wide variety of Lunch Specials, priced from $8.79 to $9.49 that include either a can of soda or an egg roll, and pork fried rice. My wife ordered the Chicken with Mixed Vegetables with a can of soda for $8.79. I ordered a Large Hot and Sour Soup, not a Lunch special, but priced well at $6.29 for a quart, $3.99 for a pint. Everything is made fresh and their take-out lunch business is brisk so we had maybe a ten minute wait. We did eat in. My wife’s lunch was packaged in a large foam box that most restaurants offer for left over take homes. The box was full, about 1/3 pork fried rice and the rest was the chicken and veggies in a whitish sauce, steaming hot. Loaded with chicken and a nice variety of crisp cooked veggies. My wife really enjoyed it and ate the whole thing. My soup was outstanding! Dark and silky, loaded with tofu, celery, carrot, mushrooms, and who knows what else, and I think the best flavor I’ve ever had. Not too vinegary sour, not too loaded with pepper flakes and I think I detected some ginger and maybe a little sugar. And I’m surprised the container didn’t melt as the temperature of the soup had to be just shy of boiling. The soup was accompanied with a bag of crispy fried won-ton strips that I like to drop into the soup while I’m eating. As planned, I ate half and brought home the rest to enjoy again today for lunch. We did see that they had duck dishes on the menu and the very personable gentleman at the counter told us the duck dishes were quite popular. There are nine other soups to try also. They have a good website and are not afraid to post their prices. We’re going back for sure!”

“Golden Corral Punta Gorda 5-18-24: Stopped by for dinner at 4:30ish and this place was packed. The parking lot was full and once inside the right side of all the tables were occupied. This place was clean and everything around the food areas were also clean. I have been to this place a couple times as my dad who is 92 loves this buffet and all the food choices. The main food bar is packed with all kinds of food items to choose from. To start at one end is Steak, Mushrooms, Onions & Peppers, Onion Rings, Ribs, Meat Loaf, Fried Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Fried Chicken, Bourbon Street Chicken, Pot Pie, Fried or baked Fish, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Corn, Macaroni & Cheese, Rolls, Baked Potatoes, all kinds of vegetables this is just to name a few. On the Taco bar there is Taco Meat, Shells and all the fixings to make any kind of tacos you want. Now the salad bar is packed with all kinds of fruit, and they also have crab salad. There is so much to choose from and too much to name. The desert bar has all kinds of cakes and pies plus ice cream and some fixings for that. I use to get pie and bread pudding for dessert, it was so good. I don’t care for the ice cream but others in my party loved it. I got the steak for the main course, and they will do it how you like it. The Steak was good, not too tough, and not too chewy, it was large enough. I always get the Fried Shrimp and Mashed Potatoes and they both were good and hot. I make sure I get some Pot Pie as it reminds me of back home. It was hot, full of Chicken and very good. I end up with the crab salad now its imitation crab but its good enough for me as I try to stay away from deserts. This place has never disappointed me as far as the quantity of food they have. It is a buffet and if you want a 5 diamond or Michelin star restaurant this may not be the place for you. If you want a large selection of food and food that is tasty this may be just the place for you. I say try it and draw your own conclusion.
