“They have a great variety of flavors for savory and sweet manapua! I tried them fried and my top favorites were: spinach mozzarella, honey garlic chicken, sweet potato, and Oreo. The owner is so friendly and we would love to come back again to try other items there!“
“I was looking for "good cake noodle place" for Aunty's BD family party (food theme was Chinese) and on the Yelp, I typed "best cake noodle", then this place hit! Located at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza face to River St. This place is very cozy restaurant but the lady is very friendly and nice. We felt we were very welcomed. We did phone order, ~2 House Special Cake Noodles (gravy on side), 1 Sauted Garlic Ong Choy, and 1 Sauted Choy Dum- and we were told in 15-20minutes to ready. (The party size was small) House Special Cake Noodle has Choy Sum, Shrimp, fish cake, and sliced meat in a gravy, the noodles are fresh fried and after poor the gravy, the texture became soft and tasty. Sauted Garlic Ong Choy and Sauted Choy Sum were both good!!! I love this place and would like to try different menu next time! Anyway, we parked at the Chinatown Cultual Plaza parking, no validation but still cheeper than other parking. (In 30min is free 31min to 1 Hour is $1, after that $1 each additional per hour. If you just order for to go, I recommend to avoid exactly lunch time, it was easy to find the parking spot.“
“Hands down the best hole in the wall, yet not whole in wall Chinese joint ever!We always order the Beef Flank and Tendon egg noodle and hubby orders the look fun, and we add wontons! It's Heaven in a bowl!The tendon is nice and tender while the beef practically melts in your mouth...and the wontons, the wontons with a blend of chewy ground pork and pieces of shrimp round out the deliciousness of the wontons!If you get the jook, make sure to order early because they run out! We lucked out today and they still had it.And the Chinese donut....oh they make it fresh to order so it comes out piping hot and crispy!We didn't order it this time but their look fun roll is full of carbs but...but it's worth every calorie, try it, trust me. You'll be fat, but a happy fatty!I highly recommend this place, it's good and it hits the spot!“
“Met the owner on the night we were eating, he definitely put his heart in this restaurant. Excellent food, especially their home made fish ball and beef stew. Favor wise excellent, our baby love their fun noodles, chewy but tasty. The portions were a good amount for the price. If you looking for a unique Chinese restaurant this will definitely be your spot. Highly recommend this location and we will be back the next time we visit Honolulu!“

“This small restaurant has free parking, on the Ewa side of the building. Since there is limited parking stalls, I phone in my order and try to pick up my take out before dinner rush. Usually there's only one waitress and she is friendly and provides a homey feel to this cozy place. Chinese New Year's Day is their busiest day of the year. This year there was one young man, helping with take out orders and it took 1.5 hrs to fulfill order. The Shanghainese culture is not very well represented in Hawaii. This is the closest I can get to chao niangao (炒年糕 'fried year cake'). These non-glutinous, rice, flour cakes are cut into medallions and stir-fried with chicken and vegetables. Note, this restaurant is not Shanghainese but an overall representation of Eastern and Taiwanese dished. This place reminds me of home cooking but often times I feel Popo's one tasted better but I'm comparing their food to a childhood memory, which is not fair.“

A sign of a really great chow fun is when the noodles aren’t clumped together and everything is perfectly seasoned and pulled together over a hot wok.It’s an unassuming spot and out of the way from usual tourist areas but worth checking out.“
“My sister and I got the chicken sandwich combo. Serving size was great - we split the sandwich and there were plenty of fries for both of us. Nice breaded, crispy chicken patty with mayo and lettuce. My sister liked the sandwich so much she ordered popcorn chicken to go ?. Service was fast and efficient. “I used to live around this area, it's my go to place if I can't think anything to eat. My favorite zhajiang noodles and spicy dumplings. I've been trying other stuff since then tomato beef stew noodles also very good. Spicy black fungus refreshing with good amount of garlic. Not to mention the price is decent for bowl of noodles. If you dine in the also served you mung bean drinks, as far as I know mung bean drinks is good for your health, also cooldown your body. Now since I don't live around this restaurant anymore I do Uber and very glad the takeout tastes as great as dine in.“
“I had very high hopes for this place.A few weeks ago, I stopped by for the first time and got beef curry and gyoza to go. It was spectacular! Decided to go for the ramen next visit.And I did.I wanted to get the thickest, most robust flavored soup, so I got the "Special" tonkotsu black garlic ramen.I really liked the visual presentation. Very vibrant, neat and appetizing.As with most ramen takeouts, the soup and noodles were packaged in separate containers. Before pouring the soup into the ramen bowl, I took a little sip.It was a tad disappointing, as I had such high hopes for this shop. The soup was a bit on the bland side. I guess the fried garlic chips are supposed to carry the flavor but there's nothing else. What I did notice was a slight slimy texture and a hint of odor. This probably indicates that inferior pork bones were used to draw the soup stock.For those of you who don't know how tonkotsu soup is made, ignorance is bliss. If you knew exactly what's in it, you may be traumatized!So, I'll spare you the details. What I will say is that hours of boiling the pork bones is needed to extract the umami, but other ingredients are crucial too. Grated ginger, garlic cloves, salt and pepper are some of the common items that are used. Despite the shortcomings of the tonkotsu soup, I have high hopes that Rakumen could be a top contender in the ramen world if they tweaked their soup just a little bit. Use better quality pork bones would be one. Adding a bit more flavor would be the other. *I had some leftover soup, so I added a little grated ginger and garlic with a few drops of la-yu to it and already, it was about as good as the other ramen shops in town. I give them 4 stars despite the seemingly harsh critique of their tonkotsu, because of their prompt and courteous service. But most of all, I believe that they will only get better.Looking forward to visiting again to up them to 5 stars!“
“The flavor and taste of food is excellent. It's an older establishment but clean and the booths are in great shape. They aren't in bad shape where as some businesses' booths are rough on your clothes. I'd only change one aspect and that would be to be able to get half orders. As a couple we don't like to eat same thing or big amounts that we have to bring home. Otherwise we love the food and variety.“

“A very nice surprise when my daughter took me here today. The hot sour soup was excellent and the only thing I didn't like was that the noodles were super slippery and hard to grasp with the chopsticks. But the flavors were spot on and the fried calamari appetizer was Ono. No sauce needed for the calamari. The pancake (soufflé) strawberry dessert was also delish and don't forget the ice cream with the dessert. My daughter forgot to order the vanilla scoop for $2. This place is a must try if you're in Pearlridge.“
“I felt compelled to write a review because of how absolutely delicious the combination duck & roast pork were. I have eaten a lot of roast duck and roast pork in my life (SF, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, BC, London, Beijing, and Mei Mei is among the best.I ordered the combination roast duck and roast pork which comes with rice and vegetable.The duck skin was thin and crispy. The duck meat was tender and flavorful and not too bony.The roast pork was exceptionally flavorful and tender as well. The skin had a good crunch.I am looking forward to my next meal here.“

Every thing is cooked, with options for tofu, rice, noodles, turnip cakes, vegetables. I always opt for four choices $18. Then I get to taste many options. Parking nearby streets or in front of the post office. Make sure you pay parking because downtown is patrolled pretty often.“

“Good baked manapua but different as there is onion or cabbage in the meat. I couldn't tell what it was though. The bread was very soft and delicious. The meat had a sweet moist flavor. Big pork hash and noodles were ok. Good service from the owner. I will return again“

“My favorite spot to visit when I'm on Oahu. It is a departure from the touristy spots with the usual clientele, and caters to locals that want to relax with a drink, watch some sports, and have some great food.These are Chinese dishes with a Hawaiian spirit, and they always hit. Mandatory for me while I am on island are a salmon belly plate lunch, GauGee, and Lup Cheong fried rice. Other dishes that have my heart are ginger fried rice, fat fat special chicken, chicken gizzards, and fried ahi plate. Even fried lettuce is surprisingly tasty, even if just once. I have had maybe a third of the menu so still quite a bit of flavors to uncover and explore. I look forward to doing that over the next several decades. Would be remiss if I didn't mention friendly service. Can't say enough great things about an essential establishment for me.“

“Stopped by here after seeing many of my Yelp friends checking in since I was in the area. Had a bit of trouble finding this place & had to ask a kind woman waiting outside of Safeway. It is located closer to Subway. I had many errands to run so only purchased roast pork today. I was sad that there was only a small piece of pork hanging in the window after the gentleman in front of me bought most of it. Not to fret, the counter person disappeared to bring out more. I wanted to make a knock off lechon kawali for an easy dinner as I had some very juicy vine ripened tomatoes and sweet onions. I generally do not eat roast pork because it is very fatty, but saw the pieces were very meaty. Dinner came out great served with some French Onion Soup. Cringe worthy, but I enjoyed my pieces of defatted pork with some balsamic vinegar since I didn't have any of the traditional Filipino vinegar. Btw, Po Sing does not sell any manapua or steamed buns. Although there was only a rubber duck hanging, the gentleman said he did have roast duck in the back. Only one customer is allowed in the restaurant at a time & there is no dining area...strictly take out. Lots of parking available in the Mililani Shopping Center parking lot.“

“This is a local family run type place. Order at counter to eat in or take out. Lady taking orders was efficient, not super friendly.All food is served in Togo containers. There is one person taking orders and packing items which may be an issue for cross contamination.We order spring rolls, shrimp fried rice and Singapore noodles for $37. Portions were huge and incredibly affordable. We all enjoyed the yummy food. I have had better however the price was higher and portions were smaller. Solid lunch/dinner option.Would like to add a lady was cooking up wontons and noods that looked really good. If there wasn't a line I would have ordered then too.“

Sign on the outside says Northern Chinese Cuisine but they serve kim chee, takuan and onions with black bean paste as starters. There are other similar restaurants in Oahu but this is the best?Portions and taste makes you come back for more, everything is served hot and right out of the kitchen. Parking can be tough during the day but evening free street parking is available. There were a lot of local, older, Chinese people eating lunch and speaking Chinese when we got there, so we figured it must be good haha! Service was quick during lunch hours. Food was delicious and exactly what we've been craving. The only dish we didn't really care for was the green onion pancake. There wasn't much flavor to it compared to a Korean pancake. Reasonably priced as well. Our total was around $50 for 2 adults, but we could've probably ordered 2-3 less items. We just wanted to try everything since we are rarely in downtown. Bathrooms inside the restaurant were clean. I would come here again if/when we're back in the area.“

“Hawaii is known for their manapua. If I'm ever on Oahu I usually get them from Chun Wah Kam and take some back to the mainland. Or have family and friends bring some back for me. This is a chain so they have many locations on the island. For a chain the taste is superior. Can't go wrong with the traditional Char Siu, but my favorite is the Kalua Pork. It's not always on the menu. Get it when you can. I prefer the steamed manapua over the baked version.“

Even if there was an order mistake, it closes at 9:30, but there are customers at 8:30, so the hall has to be cleaned, and the staff is not interested in the customers, so the customers have to call out loud to come.“
“Really enjoyed the beef chow fun at the Waikiki location so wanted to come to the Chinatown location to try since it is $4 cheaper for the beef chow fun. it was excellent with lots of wok flavour for $13.99...portion is average but definitely not huge. good for one person. also had the hot hong kong tea for $4.50 and it was excellent...very authentic hong style steeped tea. I also had the hot pot rice with pork and anchovy for $15.95 and it was just okay...not spectacular. we also had the Singaporean fried vermicelli which was also excellent. we really enjoyed our meal and the server was very friendly and helpful. we will be returning before end of the month before we leave for home.“

“Personally, I love Panda. The only reasons it doesn't get a 5 star rating is that they forget the sauce on my Teriyaki chicken sometimes and they forgot an entire plate from an order once, but they more than made up for it when I called about it.“
