Half of my hotel stay was a 5/5 but it was bought by new owners for the other. I booked this hotel stay because it was the only privately owned hotel I could find in Maui. There was so much attention paid to honouring and celebrating Hawaiian culture, from the food to the amazing cultural centre. All staff was friendly and I had an incredible experience with the cultural centre staff who were always happy to answer any questions I had and share their own personal experiences....read full review

New name, new processes, wonderful tradition – great staff. Been going to this place 12 times over 20 years. Just awesome! Almost the second you arrive – you know you are in Hawaii and are starting to soak in the spirit of Aloha. There are updated rooms – go for the traditional style – it makes that time to feel you are on vacation far quicker and you’ll also save some $$$$. I have mixed emotions about writing this review. We arrived under the old ownership. We were unfortunately there when Outrigger took over the hotel’s ownership and the price of most things went up with no warning. When we arrived our room was not ready however the lovely young woman switched some things around and we were able to check in early. I booked a premium room with a partial ocean view.
