“I love Kava, this place has good drinks and mocktails that use kava in place of alcohol, but the price of the drinks is a pretty high considering 1 drink here costs what you'd pay for a full night of kava in one of the local garage clubs. Very small bar area, makes the otherwise intimate setting feel a little crowded for groups larger than 2.“

“Loved the outdoor and indoor seating options, with space for large groups. I appreciated that we didn't feel "cramped in" and you could "social distance". The menu was limited but yummy. We went for brunch so I expected more "typical" brunch items or a buffet. The staff was efficient and accommodating. Loved the views especially and the ambiance. If you have someone that has ambulatory issues be aware there is a slight hill and the restaurant is "set back" from the parking area through the gift store... so the restaurant is not obvious. We enjoyed all the "historic displays".“

Hang Loose Lounge Bar • $
333 Dairy Rd #105, Kahului - 5.68 miles

“The managers and staff of Hang Loose lounge are just fantastic people. They are island friendly and go out of their way to help you. Rod even drove us personally from the lounge when we could not get a taxi to swing by. You can see why the locals frequent and hugs flow. Check it out. Maui is wide open for business folks. The fires certainly affected certain specific locals but 90% of the island was fine.“

LAVA'S Sports Bar& Karaoke Bar • $

“Just popped in on my way to the airport after a week in Maui (first time here). I wish I found this place earlier! I had so much fun, and Shawn was awesome. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, off the beaten path Maui outing. Sing your heart out at karaoke! Ask Shawn to sing a feline friendly song - you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to come back someday. Mahalo!“

Da Babooze Bar Bar • $$
1234 Lower Main St, Wailuku - 7.9 miles

“If you're looking for the best dive bar in Maui, this is it. If you're looking for a local's neighborhood bar, this is it. If you're looking for pretentiousness and upscale cocktails, this is most definitely not it. Yelp says this location is "dine in only". Don't expect to dine here, however. There is a vending machine, a microwave for the popcorn in said vending machine, and bags of chips. They have 2 or 3 beer taps which may or may not work. Mainly this is a beer-drinking crowd, but this is a full bar, so let the bartenders mix up your favorite cocktail and see how they do. Lots of locals here, lots of hard working individuals who hang out after work. Everyone is friendly as heck. A great place to hang out before leaving the island, as it's a short drive to the airport.“

“What an absolute gem of a hole-in-the-wall to find! So many different reasons to enjoy your time here. Has a great, laid-back vibe to come and relax with a drink. Plan ahead because they also have nights with live music - perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. Great for dancing and enjoying good music. Delicious food - loved the Mochiko chicken. Order comes with enough chicken to share between two if you wanted. They have a full bar as well as great signature cocktails. Both Da Guava Mule and the Guava Sunset were strong but still had that good guava flavor. All the staff here were so wonderful - efficient, kind, and fun to talk to. Guava Tree also serves food a little later, so that was nice when we were looking for a place to eat. Great stop if you're looking for good food and drinks. Plan it when they have live music, and you'll have a fantastic night out.“

PONI LOUNGE Bar • $$
1063 Lower Main St, Wailuku - 7.75 miles

“One of my friends always mentioned a bar named 'Poni' that she frequents. Not being a fan of typical Korean bars where a $20 drink buys you company, I was happy to know that Poni isn't that kind of establishment.ATMOSPHERE:Poni is located in the same row of businesses in Puuone Plaza that includes Tokyo Tei and M Sushi. The bar is split into two rooms though the lower room is more of a storage area and where the women's restroom is located. Décor is minimal and the place was clean. Seating styles include bar top, high tops, low tops and picnic-style tables. Color-changing LED rope lights span the ceiling which gives the place a dreamscape-like ambiance in hues of pink, blue and purple, so pictures will come out horribly (see my menu pics). TV's line the bar and pay-for karaoke is available ($1 per song or $2 if no one claps, according to the sign, LOL). There were just four others there on a Friday night around 7pm, with a few souls trickling in thereafter. Reggae tunes played overhead.MENU:Full bar along with a small menu of Asian-influenced bar apps, local fare like saimin, spam and egg sandwich, and oyster shooters.EXPERIENCE:My gang and I were going to attend a funeral nearby so we decided to pop in and have just one drink. Our two chardonnays and one beer came out to $18 and change. Paying via credit card would result in the fee being passed onto us (75-cents for this particular amount). Conversing was easy as the music was at the perfect level. The bar was nice and cool inside.SERVICE:Greeting was immediate and very friendly. We were a party of just three so the server broke down an 8-topper in half for us. Drink service was lightning quick as the place wasn't very busy at 7pm.OVERALL:Chill vibe, great service. I'd return!“
