“Stumbled across The Tattered Toad when the orchard we were going to didn't have any vegetarian options for lunch. The fried cauliflower, mac abd cheese bites, poppers, onion rings and hot pepper bites were so tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food and they even have a kids menu. There is a super fun playground across the street that all 3 kids plus the grown ups had fun in.“
“We stopped in for one drink on Labor Day Sunday. There were only about 8 people there and they all seemed to be regulars. Everyone was kind, service was good and the drinks were tasty.It's a small quaint bar. Only one bathroom (toilet) in the girls restroom.“
“Tried to come here twice and had no good luck. Third time is the charm! Had an incredible experience with our server Deaja. Would recommend starting with the Brussels Sprouts followed by a burger, either the Hit Corner or the Mushroom Swiss. Don’t forget to upgrade to the Truffle Fries!!“
“Cracking little place this, a real hidden gem in Ankeny. Myself and my fiancé stopped in purely by chance to grab some food and a couple of drinks and fell in love with the place. The staff are attentive and really friendly, the food was really good and most importantly the beer was perfect in a frozen glass. Has a real charm to the place that I think alot of bigger drinking establishments lack. As an Englishman, I'm no stranger to the "local pub" and this just has those vibes in spades. Just feels like you should know everyone by name and feels like you should of been drinking here forever. A really charming place that I'll definitely be coming back to when I return to Ankeny.“
“Trailside Tap has an interesting and varying menu. I follow the Instagram page to see the specials each week and what is new. The outside patio really is the best in Ankeny and with periodic live music, there is more reason to visit than the food and beverage which happen to be excellent.“
“Went on a particularly busy evening, due to the city festival going on, we wanted a particular drink. We were not disappointed, as plenty of team members made were available to make us feel welcomed and take care of our requests. Quick service at the bar, and great atmosphere around the establishment. Very pleased with our visit!“
