“Nice clean and friendly environment, with a great view of the bridge. Only two trucks present on Saturday light, but good food offerings, and one of the best bars and "mixologists" in town! Lots of people inside and out enjoying the rare beautiful summer evening, perfect temperature, comfortable Adirondack chairs, and great music presented by the Buzz Tones! They sounded great! What a wonderful downtown Alton "date night" experience with my wife!!!”

“We have been going to Gentelin's for about 10 years and the food is consistently excellent. My wife and I were there last night and we both had the filet mignon. I also ordered a crab stuffed portabella mushroom to complement my steak. Talk about YUM! Ryan is the owner and chef, and he takes personal ownership in maintaining the outstanding quality of the food. He also has a special talent of bringing together the right ingredients to make each menu item wonderful. A recent example is the Crabmeat Stuffed Chicken - to die for! The salads are also very good and they offer a $5.00 appetizer from time to time, last night's was Philly Cheesesteak wontons, yummy and very creative! The food always comes out in a timely manner and is always the right temperature. They also have a very good beer, wine, and drink selection too. Ryan has assembled a GREAT team and Beth is our regular server. She is outstanding, professional, and very attentive to our needs. We have had other servers when Beth isn't there and they too are top notch. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Mississippi river for added ambience. So if you are in Alton and looking for great food, Gentelin's is the place for you!”

“Our first visit to Alton, IL and my wife and I found State Street Market. The food is fantastic, Erin served us and her recommendations were spot on for our tastes. We both had the BLT and Avocado sandwich. The portions were very generous. Took some asparagus and mushroom soup home. We live in St Charles, but will visit often. Hope we see you soon, Erin.”

“We were visiting from out of town and not used to everything closing early so we came in around 9p and even though the kitchen had closed they prepared our meal with smiles and the very best attitude. Our server was excellent and the meal was absolutely delicious like melt in your mouth OMG delicious! and the drinks were top notch also.If we were local we would be here all the time.”

“Have been to Tony's many times, usually very good. Our food last Friday night was lukewarm, 3 of 4 meals, one was a salad. Quietly called server over, she was quite upset and offered many things. As I said usually quite good, we didn't want anything. She finally convinced us to take a dessert to go. I appreciate how professional she was and apologetic, not her fault. We will continue to patronize Tony's because food is usually very good, but our service was exceptional. Buy local☺️”

“A lovely little spot to stop into, might be greeted by a doggo, find amazing conversation, make friends, play with chalk art, and be scolded by a teacher (playfully... I think...)Wine list is by the glass, can also purchase the bottle and enjoy it at a hightop table or one of the amazing lower conversational chairs.Mr. Bunbury would be most pleased with the location and fare.”

“This is a perfect good ol'tavern. Exactly what I like if I go to have a drink. Bartender s are great, atmosphere is fun and friendly, it's a cheers for the motorcycle club and friends. Always a good time. Sam and Woody are not serving you it Missy, Michelle, or as they call Cheyenne " the new girl" you can't go wrong with any of the three. And if you are lucky enough to run into Elliot or some other regular faces, you have a great day ahead!”

“Food was good, the guy behind the counter ( i assume was the owner) was even better.He seemed to be a genuinely good guy. I will defiantly eat there again.Note: Web-sight description says " dine in" , however, I did not see any dinning room or tables. “Cooks were very slow, our server even apologized for them “cooking so slow” if not for that they would get 5 stars all around. Friendly servers, clean, good atmosphere.”
