“Love Kasama! I’ve been back each time I visit the city and the breakfast is banging. I know the sandwich + hash-brown is iconic and a must try but their other food is equally as delicious. Would highly recommend ordering online to skip the line if you don’t plan to eat inside.“
“Absolute best donuts in the world! This place is just so awesome. I've been coming here for years, and the donuts are always great. The Buttermilk cake donut is my favorite, just perfect. This place is OldSkool, just like me. Luv ❤️ everything about this place, please dont ever change anything. I luv the old skool menu, the old skool stools, I luv the old skool vibe, and It is not uncommon to see the founder Burritt in the window still making donuts at 85 young years old, God bless him and God give me the same strengths at his age. If you haven't made a pilgrimage yet to this place, do it and do it now !“
“Just incredible. There are no words for how impressive this bakery is. The owner is an absolute angel, the desserts are insanely delicious and the aesthetic is perfect. This is my go to for any special occasions. I even have non vegan friends/family that request Pie Pie for their birthdays. I cannot recommend supporting this business enough. My personal favorite flavors are banana split, chocolate strawberry, and nutter butter.“
“Great small bakery. The options may be limited but the quality is high. Follow their Instagram to keep a close eye on their inventory as I hear they typically sell out quick (only so much product can be made for a day's sales).I guess they are known for their Tahini cookies. I've had several items from their menu and I would recommend fulfill your sweet tooth here.First thing I ate were the peanut butter cookies, and boy did it have peanut butter in it - grab a drink to help wash it down! The bakery takes pride in their baked goods and it is well worth their hard work.“
“What a welcomed addition to the neighborhood, small yet intimate. Fabulous food complete w/a fabulous, thoughtful staff - very attentive, always smiling!! My new go to place for authentic Greek food, aroma of fresh coffee, and exquisite orange pie. Not to be missed!!“
“Bang Bang has been a neighborhood favorite of mine for years! Tastes like it's made with love. The biscuits, the pies, the sides, you can't go wrong! I usually get a scratch biscuit with sweet, a side salad or side of candied bacon, and a slice of pie to go :) Delicious! Great patio space for the summer!“
“I was parking and saw a crowd of people hovering around a storefront like they were waiting for doors to open for the Nordstrom Semi Annual Sale! Thus, I had to walk over and see what all the fuss was about. Tons of people were waiting outside in the cold for pastries. I looked at the menu on the window and noticed all the pastries are gluten free and they have a large selection of vegan options! There were so many vegan options that I bared the cold trying to make a decision. I settled on the vegan brownie. The staff were all friendly and processed orders quickly. While walking, I tasted a piece of the vegan brownie. It was simply, AMAZING! I can’t wait to go back and try other vegan pastry options.“
“Absolutely delicious! So light and airy with amazing flavors! Plus friendly service. The lady that helped me was also very sweet to my dog, she even came around to pet her and give her a treat. (She made sure to wash her hands immediately after!) I'll be back!“
“This place is our new favorite for a casual brunch/lunch. We've been a few times now; the food is always out of this world good, we love the setup and service, and enjoy peeking at the grocery & bakery items — we'll have to try those next.“
“Always incredible - one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city (I get the pablano/veggie and add sausage ? - which was a staff suggestion). Everyone who works there is friendly and engaging! If they had a yearbook, I would write, "have a cool summer - don't ever change".“
“I am sure that you will love to hear the story behind what is today La Malinche Coffee and Tea. And I think it's important to support local small businesses. BTW.. The apple Brie is my favorite panini there.. sweet and salty at the same time.“
“Love how they accommodate both thc and cbd if you do not like the psychoactive effect. Theres even thc infused water!!! They truly have every possible infused dessert you can think of not just your typical infused brownies. Will be back! There was vegan cupcakes for those with dietary restrictionsDietary restrictions: Has vegan cupcakes. Did not see gluten free although someone may need to fact check this“
“My first time trying this place was for lunch today and it was such a good experience! The host was very welcoming and kind, and so was my server. I tried a blueberry bourbon drink that was amazing, and had a bowl of the chili mac that was even better. I had a lovely time and can’t wait to come back!“
“We just visited the brand new Wicker Park location on Pierce around the corner from the Damen Blue Line stop. The pastries we tried (pistachio croissant and various biscotti) were incredible. The staff and owner Ciro were so welcoming in their new beautiful establishment. So many delicious authentic Italian options to choose from!“
“I was here the weekend of lunar new year and it was packed, and lots of the stuff was gone. The stuff looked really good and my friend counts it as one of her favorite bakeries. They seem to have a lot of goodies for sale here, though as I said it was slim pickings when I visited. It looks upscale but the prices are great, really reasonable. It's nice and clean--in comparison to some of the older neighborhood staples, which are a bit dingy and outdated-looking. They're cash only, so I wasn't able to get anything here but my friend bought a couple things and the service was fast and friendly. Parking is street only.“
“We have been at this restaurant many times and it was always a 4-5 stars on everything. The food was amazing as always. We had the green beens, the short rib dish, the halibut, cheek pea fritters, the pig face, and broccoli. Our favorites were the green beans, halibut, and the short rib. Then we ordered the plantain tres leches (amazing!!!) and the praline dessert. We had great staff bringing the food from the kitchen and explaining all dishes. The only problem was our main waiter, Florentino, who was very aggressive in the way he spoke to us, and was upset when we asked another waiter to add a dish. He also was pushing us to order 10-12 dishes even though we said we’ve been there many times. He spoke to us in a very condescending manner. Overall the food was exceptional. Atmosphere was inviting & fun.“
“Panaderia paradise is what this place is. If I weren't so happy with them, I would be angry that they've set the bar for panaderías so high that now I would pass on ones that are closer to me just to make the trip here. For me this really is worth going out of my way for. My go to has been rebanada de mantequilla, buñuelos and of course churros, exceptionally good churros. How good? Well, I had one cold the next day and it was still crispy and delicious, so I can only imagine how good it would be to get this fresh at the bakery, or if I were less lazy and gluttonous and heated it back up in the oven myself. The place itself is very clean and everyone working there was quite friendly and polite. Not surprisingly it gets a little bit busy in this small place, but it is worth it to sample the dizzying array of baked goods here. Fantastic panaderia and I am both happy and sad they are not right next door to me, because if they were, I would be here all the time.“
“I have been walking past this place every day since I moved here (I use the CTA Roosevelt Station), but I finally visited Sweet Bean with some friends from out of town and LOVED it. The coffee was good, nothing spectacular, but the pastries are really the unique part. They are self service, and they have sweet and savory pastries - I have tried a few and they were all amazing. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend a visit if you're in the area“
“This restaurant has a very cozy vibe. Keep in mind it's a smaller restaurant that has a good crowd, so finding a place to sit can be hard during rush hour. The workers are all incredibly kind. I would highly recommend getting their breakfast sandwich, it is so so so amazing. And of course nothing says "breakfast" quite like a slice of chocolate cake from The Bear.“
“Love their pastries and desserts. They sometimes have other things like dim sum and rice cakes. The service is fine, like other typical Asian spots. The ambiance is a small bakery that is mostly boarded up inside. They are cash only so please prepare. There are other bakeries nearby that will take card if you choose to go elsewhere.“
“Honestly can’t say enough good things about Kristoffers. They made my wedding cake and I only get their tres leches for my birthday every year. It’s so so soft and delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness in each bite. I really like the coconut tres leches but my personal favorite is just the regular one. Really enjoy the Chocoflan, regular flan, house salad, and their pastries are always fresh! But if you’re in the area you MUST stop by for a sliceAlso highly highly recommend their lemonade, my mouth is watering just thinking of it right now. The owners are such a kind, sweet couple who make great conversation and always make you feel welcome.Parking: free street parking off to the side if you’re fast enough“
“We recently celebrated my daughter’s Sweet 16 birthday party. We needed a cake large enough to feed about 150 people and was able to work with Weber’s on the design we wanted within a short time frame, since the previous person we were working with cancelled a month away from the party. Overall we had a great experience from ordering to delivery!“
“We came in on a Saturday afternoon. There was no line. We ordered 4 slices: cheese, veggie, supreme, and pepperoni, a cup of their chicken tortellini soup, a cannoli, and a custard filled pastry. The chicken tortellini soup was amazing. It tasted like some homemade chicken noodle soup. The supreme pizza was very flavorful. I appreciated that it had the right amount of sausage. The veggie pizza was delicious, it was nice and crispy and the veggies were not soggy. The cheese pizza was good too. While we waited for our pizza to be warmed we noticed the line was long. By the time we finished our food in their outside patio, the line was out the door. I would definitely come back to try the chicken parm.“
“Super fun joint. A lot of good vibes and reasons to hang around. The food, overall, was tasty, but the pizza left some to be desired. You can tell they put great care and detail into every decision. The pizza just didn't do it for me. Could've been the bold claim of "best cheese pizza in Chicago." I appreciate the bravado, but unfortunately, it came with little fanfare.“
“Love the handy drive-thru. Also love the wheat free options like chocolate chip cookies, biscuit that can substitute some for bread on sandwiches, and other pastries. Lots of pastries. LOVE the scones. Vegetarian options are tasty. Had the Rubén sandwich yesterday and it was awesome. Also love the mission of the facility. Staffed by residents of Misericordia's homes. Decent prices and great taste with a cause!!“
“Longtime customer of this beautiful place full of hardworking people who love food just as much as I do, they just recently were able to give themselves a much deserved facelift and continue to provide amazing service and food that will always have a special place in my heart!!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Lemongrass, Tofu“
“This is a nice little bakery spot. Everyone there was nice and helped us through our decisions in what to get. The double chocolate chip cookie is good but the stars of this place are the lemon cookie and the lemon cake. I might be biased because I am a fan of lemon, but those two items are top tier amazing. I will give the cookie a slight edge over the cake but you cannot go wrong with either one. Check this place out if you haven't already.“
“I was visiting Ukrainian village from out of state . Naturally, being of Ukrainian ancestry , I wanted to taste delicious authentic foods! Was not disappointed. Delicious borscht with soft fluffy knot rolls, varenyky with cabbage, A pleasant urban gem !“
“Israel and his team are dedicated to creating one of the most amazing morning atmospheres in all of Chicago. Besides having one of the city's best croissants, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a positive experience for all guests - regardless of how busy it can get on peak days. The space is clean and cozy, with excellent music selection and a calm ambiance. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in the heart of Chicago.“
“My favorite bakery ever, if i could live next door id move in a heartbeat. Every experience I had here was great. The people at the counter are always so nice. Recently I made a large order and they forgot to put in a pastry. When i told them, they were super receptive and gave me a refund. I recommend this place a hundred times over.“
“Amazing customer service, and delicious treats ! I had a corporate event, and we wanted some light sweets for the occasion. The owner of the establishment walked me through all things offered and explained the process, and I haven’t been this satisfied in a long time with any whole sale establishment. I highly recommend for any type of parties, corporate events, or even just for you and your family! Will be connecting again soon.“
“The owner - Tim - was so friendly. I stopped in for a pastry & he asked if I wanted any coffee to which I explain I don’t drink coffee at all! He asked why & explained it wasn’t really my taste in general nor did I drink caffeine. He then proceeded to make me a decaf charlatte on the house simply to show me how amazing coffee can taste. I’ve purchased it since ;) 11/10 recommend this place!!“
“I made a reservation for the mothers day tea event and I'm am so glad I did! The food was delicious and the portions sizes were perfect! The tea was delicious and everyone was kind as usual! I hope they hold more events like this one! It was a fun and delicious event! I tell everyone about this place when I can.“
“All the time we stopped by and shopped here, we were not disappointed, and it's been quite a few times. My family like this place every time they stop by. Their barbecue duck and pork are always fresh, and their vietnamese sandwiches are some of the best one on the area.“
“Stopped by today with a few friends and split a handful of thing.I only have 5 stars because 15 stars wasn’t an option.I’ve eaten many pastries in my life, and I must say that their cheddar scallion biscuit might be the best one gluten items I’ve ever had. My lord. My friends and I are leaving our church to praise at the alter of that delicious treat. Then came the banana bread. I used to tell my mom that hers was the best, but that’s now a lie. loved their take on banana bread. While slightly drier than some I’ve had, I thought the overall composition and flavor of it was excellent. A must try.Next, they currently have an onion and Gruyère danish….. I don’t believe I telling people how to live their lives, but if you aren’t eating that daily, your life is incomplete and full of sorrow. Go there now. Eat it. You’re welcome. Finally came the croissants. We tried the pb and chocolate and the ham and cheese. I could definitely appreciate the flavor, but they were crispier than what I typically preference. Still, my friend who likes them that way thought it was divine.Ok. Go to Aya now.“
“I recently tried this place because I was told that the tres leches cake from here was SO good, they weren’t wrong! My whole family loved it and finished the leftovers the next day (we usually don’t finish cake leftovers till days later)! We ordered the vanilla tres leches and it was the perfect amount of moisture and sweetness, it did not disappoint! DEFINITELY recommend!“
“It was an absolute PLEASURE to deal with James for my Pie day celebration 3/14/24. What better place to cater from for high schoolers than somewhere named Sugar Daddy ? I of course picked up some of their St Patrick’s specialties and I have honestly never had anything I did not like. ❤️ with food allergies nowadays he was incredibly accommodating to my request and very competitively priced.“
“This place has good treats that will satisfy your sweet tooth. We picked up a couple different things that were decent and one that was awesome! The Banana Carmel Cabinet pudding I can't say enough good about! It's a very moist and tasty cupcake/bread pudding combination essentially. It's a yellow cake with banana slices, banana pudding, and caramel topping that is pretty epic! The cookie we got was good, one dessert magic cookie bar that good, a lemon bar that was ok...I didn't care for it but my wife thought it was ok, and the banana Carmel cabinet pudding was awesome. Give them a try and I think you'll find something that you like for sure...and they are very very nice when it comes to customer service so that's good a big plus.“
“I couldn’t visit Chicago without visiting Fab Cakes! This cafe is spacious and perfect for work or study with ample seating, outlets, calming music and just the right amount of white noise. They have a full menu that’s affordable and delicious. You can’t go wrong with any sweet or savory pick, and everything is made in-house. As if that wasn’t enough, the owner and employees are beyond sweet and there’s adorable hand-drawn art. No Apple Pay here, but other payments (cash, card) accepted. Thank you for a wonderful stay! I got the Breakfast Wrap, YUM, and a cinnamon pastry— one of the best pastries I’ve ever had!!“
“This place is a hidden gem in the Gold Coast. The staff and owners are a pleasure to interact with and they really care about service and their food. I’m a fan of so many items and their chocolate is the best I’ve ever tasted. Bread is excellent because they take their time. Pastries are just as great! Hendrickx is a real treat.“
“Im slowly compiling a list of what I do and don’t like. Here are my opinionsLove:-match pie (light match flavor and consistency is creme brûlée)-biscuits and gravy (gravy is so good and biscuits are buttery and flaky)Okay flavors-coconut cream (not much coconut?)-chocolate cream (tastes like chocolate pudding in a pie crust with whipped cream on top)“
“The plating at Sweet Moon is so exquisite that I imagine a chef using a pair of tweezers to meticulously place each item to be displayed on the dish. My mother and I talk for at least two minutes about the layout and design of the plated food before diving in and being even more amazed by the flavor combinations. My favorite menu item is the Merengue Roulette, a gluten-free merengue with mascarpone pistachio cream, raspberry jam, baked almond, and whole pistachios. For such well-crafted and well-balanced dishes, the wait time is not long, usually not exceeding 10 minutes. Although the place is typically always filled with people all customers are respectful of the noise level and it is quiet and serene. Great place to work or catch up with a friend!“
“This is a really cute little coffee spot. I had no idea this was here until now, but I'm super glad to have found it! Great coffee from people who care about coffee. The owners were running the shop and were super friendly and open to chatting about the shop. I got a free drink with the beans I picked up too!“
“Of all the places I've tried around the city, Taste of Colombia has the best coffee anywhere in Chicago. My favorite part though is the wonderful people who work there! I feel super fortunate to have them just two blocks from my house. Make sure to give them a try!How cool this place is! They have the best coffee and desserts in all of Chicago, but the best thing is the people who work there. Many thanks to Naima, Toni and Alejandra. Always a pleasure to spend some time with you every weekend!“
“OH MY GOD THIS PLACE MAKES HEAVEN. My favorites: - any of the savory meat croissants - egg sandwich - any of the meat strombolis - salted caramel donut - gingersnap molasses cookie - twice-baked almond croissant - vegan dark chocolate banana bread with pecans - Two falls ago there was this amazing apple cider bearclaw donut thing. I haven't seen it since in the pastry case, but I can still taste its awesomeness in my mouth and hope it will one day return. Everything here is so moist and magical. For me, what sets Mindy's Bakery apart from other bakeries, and makes it clear why Mindy won the Beard award for Outstanding Chef in the US, is that Mindy and crew are always working to improve their craft, always using quality ingredients and making better versions of things all the time and I respect this so much. Also, when you come in through the door, you can see everyone behind the counter, working hard, baking during open hours, and helping you pick things out of the big case in front. They are awesome. If you're from out of town, know there's rarely a line out the door on Wed, Thurs or Fri, but Sat and Sun are busy, so do what I do and bring your kindle or paper to read while you wait in line. It is always worth the wait.“
“Welcome to Roscoe Village. Oh my goodness, this place is soo much better than the Starbucks that was there previously. I hope you are able to put a few small tables on the sidewalk when the weather is nice. It is the perfect little neighborhood spot for a delicious coffee & croissant.“
“The space is small. If there's over 7 or 8 people in line or waiting for orders, you begin to feel a little cramped. The space was clean. The menu is pretty simple. I like that they have visuals of their products in little cases by the register. Pricing is a bit on the higher end. I spent almost $18 for 3 items.I opted for a cinnamon butter brioche, a 2 chip chocolate chip cookie, and the lemon cookie. The brioche was good, nice and fluffy, not too sweet. However, the flavor of the cinnamon was very underwhelming and almost too light. The bread is very thick, and if you bite into it without pulling the 2 pieces apart, you barely taste the cinnamon. I figured out that pulling the 2 sides apart was the best way to eat the bun so I could taste the cinnamon. There's also not much of the cinnamon butter on the inside. I wouldn't buy it again. The cookies are VERY dense. 1 cookie is more than enough for 3-4 people. You literally only need a piece of the cookie. The chocolate chip was ok. Not too sweet, plenty of chocolate chips, crispy on the edges and bottom, but very soft and cakey on the inside. I think it needs a pinch of flaky salt to really set off the flavor. I'd buy again. The lemon cookie stole the show! It was absolutely amazing. The base of the cookie smells like a sugar or butter cookie, and there's a lemon filling inside. OMG! I'd go back over and over again for that lemon cookie. It was served warm, and it was just perfect. I wouldn't take anything away or add anything.I'll be back before the spring is over for the lemon cookie and to try the other treats.Parking: Spaces are few and far between. Randolph is a very bury, high traffic street, especially when the weather is nice.“
“The service was good! They were nice and very helpful with guiding you where drinks, napkins, and utensils were without you asking. It was helpful. I ordered a criossant, carrot cake, and a coffee. Criossant was on the crunchy side inside and out. If you like that then that's it, but for me, I prefer a crunchy from outside and soft on inside, but not bad. Drink was a vanilla latte, and it was good because it was not too sweet. The carrot cake, the presentation was nice! Taste of the cake could've been better, but the cream of the cake made it worth having! Lastly, I want to say this definitely is a great spot for a date quiet enough to talk without too loud and music level perfect! :) I'd return to try other pastries and drinks next time!“
“Wow, what a find in Chicago!!! We were staying in the tourist area and took an Uber to the restaurant, which was a bit far. When we got there, we were surprised because the place was small, and we were already a bit sorry. WHAT NOTHING!!! Best food, best service, best brewed coffee, best milk pudding... ugh... PF super delicious, I also ordered kibe, guaraná, my goodness, how delicious... lol It was worth every penny!!! We were attended to by the owner's nephew, who was very friendly. Coming back to Chicago, I'll hit the spot there for sure.“
“We stumbled upon an incredible pizza company at Off Color Brewing. Four large squares of pizza, mix and match, boasting a variety of flavors that left us super impressed. As newcomers to the area from the Pacific Northwest, we've been eager to explore different styles of pizza, including deep dish and more. This particular pizza experience stood out as one of the best we've encountered so far! Not only is it reasonably priced, but the fun and inventive flavors, like cacio e pepper, added an exciting twist we hadn't tried before. The leftover slices even made for a perfect Sunday breakfast. We can't recommend it enough!“
