Pretty nice place with a sophisticated interior. Sushi was just delicious and melted in the mouth. But the wait time was not great and the place was not that busy. Food was coming randomly not depending on what we requested appetizers first and sushi dinner after. And cherry on the top was a frozen matcha cake for a dessert. How come?! And the most upsetting thing was the waiter who didn’t even apologize, even it wasn’t his fault.
We got the mellow yellow roll (L), Tuna Poke Roll (R), a spicy tuna hand roll (not pictured) and the salted caramel crunch cake. Sushi was really good and enjoyed that they use less rice than what I’m use to in MN. Wasn’t a fan of dessert. It didn’t taste freshly made and the caramel tasted like fake candy caramel. Niu is one of my favorite sushi spots in Chicago - the quality of the fish is superb, the rice is perfectly seasoned, and portions sizes are perfect! My favs at Niu include the rainbow roll, spice girl, and una. But don’t forget to also get nigiri to truly appreciate the fresh fish, particularly the otoro, amaebi, and hamachi.
