“Love that this place is dog friendly! My friend told me that it used to be a house but after it burned down they turned it into a bar. They have a heated indoor patio and outdoor patio in addition to the inside space. Our bartender was fabulous but I didn't catch her name. The drinks were all top-knotch, I wish they had food but they do allow you to bring in outdoor food. We ordered pizza and then a guy selling tamales came around. Overall a super fun night and can't wait to come back!“

“We needed a place to stay close to the Concord music hall, and found the Leavitt St. Inn and Tavern. Every element of our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. The menu at the inn was a purposefully short, curated list of bar food, and everything we tried was incredible. The tavern had a great neighborhood feel, and the room we stayed in was well-appointed, and just right for my wife and me. We met the owners within a few moments of arriving, and immediately felt welcomed. I highly recommend the Leavitt St. Inn and Tavern to anyone looking for a hidden gem of a place to stay while visiting Chicago. We can't wait until we travel north again, because we know where we are staying! 5 stars! A++++“
“Love this new local coffee shop! I'm always on the lookout for a good independently owned coffee shop and this is at the top of my list. The iced coffee is amazing - the flavor has a slight sweetness to it which sets it apart from a lot of other brews I've had. The inside is small but has plenty of seating, so a great place to get studying/work done (plus free - reliable - wifi). The icing on the cake is that their mission is to support local shelter dogs - 50% of sales on their merchandise goes to Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. The dog-themed decor is also adorable. Highly recommend!!!“
“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this.One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. Our 2 friends walked in about 5 minutes after us for a table, Host proceeds to not automatically deny them and asks the servers. Servers apparently had a problem with having another table until another server came worked it out. Finally, Wife and I walk back in to join our friends and overhear 2 servers discussing with the host about not seating anyone after 9pm (they close at midnight btw) Great to know that you wanting to close early is more important than actually doing your jobs and making easy money (we only got drinks and 2 apps) Pathetic, will not come back. Craving a veggie lunch that day, I opted for the lentil and barley soup along with half of the kata’s klub sandwich – stacked with veggies, including roasted butternut squash and a refreshing slaw. Everything was flavorful and super satisfying. My brother opted for the traditional cevapi sandwich. “This is a nice little bakery spot. Everyone there was nice and helped us through our decisions in what to get. The double chocolate chip cookie is good but the stars of this place are the lemon cookie and the lemon cake. I might be biased because I am a fan of lemon, but those two items are top tier amazing. I will give the cookie a slight edge over the cake but you cannot go wrong with either one. Check this place out if you haven't already.“

“I've driven past this place often for the last few years but never visited. I did for the first time a few days ago and have been back a few times! I love the vibe, the inside is gorgeous and cozy, and the patio is dog friendly. Adam, the co-owner and roaster, is a lovely human and easy to talk to and its obvious how much he cares about his craft. This is one of my new favorite spots on the entire north side! The baked goods were also tasty and I sampled my friend's rosemary lavender caramel Latte and it was so good! much more understated than the title might have you believe. “Steel cafe is soo convenient and easy to access with the fastest service. The gym is amazing itself but the cafe has been the best addition to the gym. The workers in there are always so sweet.Anytime I need a little pick me up before a workout I grab a protein coffee and it gives me the best amount of energy and that doesn’t leave me with anxiety.There are so many fresh food options along with drinks and as a picky eater I always find something I love that helps me reach my daily protein intake!“
