“My waiter was good and friendly. I sat in covered patio. I ordered a spring salad with shrimp. blackberries, grapefruit, candied pecans, arugula and berry vinaigrette and a side of Mac n cheese. The salad was missing the pecans but I forgot until I left, I thought something was missing. However, the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The ratio of shrimp to half portion was good. Mac N Cheese was ok. Noodles were undercooked and some still hard/crunchy edges and cheese sauce was just average and a bit gritty/thick. However, I was not expecting my meal to be served with plastic wrapped plastic utensils. a take home box for salad and a take home container for dining in. That was disappointing. the table of eight next to me was a bit shocked too to get their meals in to go cardboard containers.“

The first course that we had was calamari, and they were much larger pieces than I'm accustomed to, and the breading was a little bit soggy however, the second appetizer we ordered was clams, and it was absolutely phenomenal. My sister in law loves ordering here for her party and that was when I tried their cakes and oh my goodness, It was one of the best cake I have ever had. Its a little pricey but Its so worth it. “I didn't know so I want you to know! We were searching for a place to hold our funeral luncheon. We needing something McHenry local, good food, and could accomodate us on short notice. BuddyZ answered the call. They had a banquet room in the back with access to the patio. We had the pizza, salad, chicken fingers, mostaccioli bar. The food was brought out as soon as we arrived. There were tables of varied heights which accomodated our entire family. Carrie, Caitlyn & Kirsty were so friendly, professional and attentive.Thank you all for being there for our family when we needed you.“

“The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ladies working here are so nice. I ordered the ginger tea and was blown away. Strong and full of flavor. This is the best ginger tea I have ever had. You can tell this is made fresh and not with a tea bag. My husband and I split the fried calamari it was perfectly cooked, chewy but not rubbery at all! My husband ordered the Thai fried rice with shrimp. He loved the flavor he just wish that they took the tails off the shrimp. He said he would definitely order it again. I had the Long Life Soup with extra Vegetables. I am normally not a fan of clear glass noodles but this soup was so delicious and I really enjoyed eating it! This restaurant is very clean, they play instrumental music and put white paper on the tables. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try if your in the area.“

“So much sauce I almost got lost in the sauce! I'm a saucy gentleman but gosh darn was this a LOT of sauce. You see, some say I'm a messy eater...guilty as charged. I go full sloppy toppy on salads. I don't hold back and as you can tell from my pic, I did NOT hold back. That salad tasted good and so did the sauce. Could have done without the dirty looks from the staff. Sorry not all of us are perfect clean eaters. I'm a MAN and I make messes when I eat, besides, next time don't honor my request of that much sauce. Clearly not my fault they allowed for that.“

“This past November marked the very 1st time trying this landmark ice cream parlor for dessert after trying a famed pizzeria nearby in town for the 1st time as well.Covered Bridge Creamery is a real treat for Long Grove and the residents are lucky to have this gem. I was told by one of the owners that they get jam-packed in the summer as does the rest of the downtown with all the festivities.The Latina lady working that evening was very kind and it's that type of warm & inviting customer service that keeps you coming back and not to mention it is Chocolate Shoppe which is some of the finest ice cream you'll ever have.Not sure when they'll reopen, guessing in the spring when the outside slowly starts turning green again and the weather starts warming up again as well.Excellent ice cream at still reasonable prices in a cozy rustic setting with outdoor seating as well. The only critique would be to to change the sesame chicken recipe because it looked and tasted exactly like the orange chicken with a few sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Sesame chicken meat was tough too, we were disappointed with that dish. Otherwise we will be back to try more things off the menu.“

The staff provides just the right amount of attention, and the owner (manager?) was overlooking the dining room, checking for any requests between the waitresses' visits. We were very pleased with the food - delicious brie puffs and hot goat cheese with toasted bread disappeared in a minute, and all our entres were very good - both vegetarian and meat. Everything was fresh, well made, and appealingly presented. Mixed drinks were amazing and very well presented, too. I am not going to suggest o do anything about curb appeal mentioned in other reviews (which is non-existent) and bar area that is a bit creepy, because it looks like it works for them and they have enough customers already. Plus, if they have a better curb appeal, maybe we won't get a table next time, which eould be a bummer - cause we are definitely coming back!“

“Wow! I love what they've done to the place! In case you haven't heard, The Vine opened their newly constructed patio at the end of June, and it is a great addition to the local dining scene! It is an attractive space with lots of exposed wood beams, plenty of tv's, and an awesome looking bar top.My most recent visit to the patio was on a Tuesday, for lunch with a friend. We decided to sit outside; and even though it was a cool Autumn day, we were perfectly comfortable. We arrived shortly after they opened and there was plenty of seating; by the time we finished-up they had a very nice crowd.My buddy ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Salad, and I had the The Irishman, which is a Burger with Guinness Cheese Dip, an onion ring, and homemade pickles. We both agreed the food was delicious. Service was excellent (as always).I love the new space, and can't wait for my next visit. If you haven't been to The Vine recently, you need to go see for yourself!“

I can't speak on the ambiance or the service but if you want an EXTREMELY tasty meal then go here and honestly who gives a shit about the rest. Also got the egg rolls and my 6 year old, who is the pickiest eater ever, mowed down 3 of them in no time. The kids got a burger, mac n cheese, and grilled cheese. If you love German food, the German platter is what to get. The potato salad was delicious. Mix that with a delicious bratwurst and Thuringer sausage and perfectly tangy sauerkraut, and my stomach was happy. My wife loved how tender, moist and flavorful the broasted chicken was and I didn't hear any complaints from the kids. An added bonus is that this is the oldest continuously running restaurant in Illinois. So there's some cool history there.Kid-friendliness: They have a great kid's menu and carpeted floors to dampen some of the more "interesting" sounds that little ones can make.“

They have daily specials that are great deals, although all of their prices are fair. They have limited seating, but you can call ahead and pick up an order and I think they do delivery. When there, make sure you look at the specialty board that is to the right of the register. There you will find items that are not on the regular menu. Today I had the poutine with pulled pork—amazing. I highly recommend this locally-owned burger (and a lot more) joint.“
