“The building exterior really needs some upkeep. Some of the trim is rotting and the paint is peeling. I have not been inside a LJS since the 80s, but I imagine the interior is as worn as the exterior. However, the gal at the window was very pleasant, helpful, and cheerful. My fish tacos were exactly what I was craving.“

“We had a group of 14. Not everyone arrived at the same time. We were offered drinks. Salad and dressings were passed and hot rolls. Our orders were taken and came in a reasonable time. I had their fried chicken which was great. Real mashed potatoes and gravy. Green beans was the vegetable which were a little sweet, but I ate the all. To top it off a small dish of vanilla ice cream with our choice of toppings. The facility is almost 200 years old with many antiques and beautiful gardens. The entrance has several steps, but if you drive around back, there is a rustic wooden gate to enter through the gardens for those that have accessibility needs. Our group goes out once a month and this was the best we have experienced in over 3 years.“

“Making my way home from south of Indy...happened to just stop here. It's family style, snd how the waitress explained is.....which means you order your steak, chicken, scallops.. and the sides are brought in bigger shareable dishes, corn, potatoes, and gravy.. ice cream with a wafer comes with it. Salad and soup were also a part of this meal.Upon walking up to the place, I didn't notice the actual entrance and tried opening a door that was locked.. turn right and use that door. Maybe it was because people were taking pictures on the large wooden rocking horses that distracted me. It wasn't clear...what was the entrance, regardless. After walking in the far right door...a young girl is at a desk... I thought I was in a business office or possibly still went in the wrong door. It was early..7ish...She had to check on a table. We get seated in what looked to be a patio but indoors. The servers were wearing what looked like sexy Halloween costumes.. our waitress had a neon colored string in the front of hers, and another waitress had a kind of ripped black outfit. Maybe they were supposed to be maid outfits? I'm not sure.50 bucks to share 3 pieces of chicken and a steak...because we didn't know what we were getting into...So go hungry... if you share a meal, they make you buy a vegetable plate for the other person.. even though you probably would have already gotten the same amount of vegetables to have shared.More people equal bigger sides... not my thing. So many questions.. but I will not probably go back unless I had a big group of people to feed. The chicken clearly had been cooked a while ago. I ate one piece. It was fine. The steak looked good, but my friend ate that. A chicken leg and another piece of chicken were left. Ice cream comes with a meal, and it's topped with a wafer. I gladly ordered chocolate. And was surprised they offered peppermint. The other tsbles cleared out, and I never saw anyone besides 4 girls who seemed to be running the place. On our way out, a police officer was picking up food...two girls were now at the front desk...one got up and handed us little bags of kettle corn... I guess since the name was Copper Kettle. On the way to the door... I noticed a small room for coats... and some copper tea kettles. I walked by several different rooms and would rather have sat in a more private area than beside two parties of 8 or more.. and in the direct path from the kitchen and all the people walking by to go to the bathroom and to leave...Was told we could visit the garden..I couldn't find the front door... I wasn't going to be walking around looking for a garden...I would be interested to see this place in the daylight. It was a Saturday night.Maybe it's because I don't like to share my food..spoons...etc.I get the idea.. it's really like a group place, not so much for two lost people just trying a place to eat.I took the remaining chicken home to feed to outside animals. The waitress did a good job.. brought a paper bag for the chicken and Styrofoam for the sides. But no bag to put that in. It's all good. But my concern was.. juice or the top popping open.Nothing was bad. It was just a different.Didn't seam managed by anyone, and if you hadn't been there, it didn't make sense to me why two people would not just share one meal.I'd be interested to see what the same meal togo looked like... and how does that work.Sorry for all the ramblings..I would opt for a regular restaurant..not family style over this just because I don't understand how you don't feel ripped off.Tableside buffet is how I would describe this place. Kind of like taking a cruise with someone who bought the drink package and you had to buy the drink package even though you don't drink. HahahaAnyway.. good times in small towns across the Midwest.Sorry for rambling.“
