“My Fiance and I heard about this restaurant through one of my co-workers. I was afraid of being treated differently because of our age but that was NOT the case. We were treated like everyone else. We did go again about two weeks later because of how much we love the food, and we waited for 40 minutes before anyone paid attention to us, and we were the only people seated since it was a later reservation. HOWEVER, I do not believe in being rude on just misunderstandings. After getting attention of a hostess and not overreacting about it, our orders were immediately taken and our apps came to us within 10 minutes after. Our food was perfect separated out so we did not feel rushed, and the owner was more than generous with how he compensated our wait. I absolutely love this restaurant and WILL be returning. I cannot see why anyone wouldn't love the chef and his work. If you are planning on going, you have to try the deviled eggs and the scallops. And to the owner, please keep scallops on the menu for March 30th because I WILL be ordering them!”

“We went to Abuela's for the experience of having the robot deliver chips and salsa. The robot is pretty cool. The Vegetarian rice bowl is awesome. I loved the different vegetables in it. Grilled green and red peppers, grilled onions, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots. A lot of vegetables over rice. The house dressing is good too. The bowl is a great option if you want a nice bowl without any meat. The only bad thing I have to say is the back dining room where we were taken for a table was pretty dirty. The floors hadn't been swept and there was trash in the floor. Couple of tables not cleaned off. And there wasn't any reason for that dining area to not be cleaned. It wasn't busy back there and our waiter kept walking right past the mess. We ate lunch there on Valentines Day and it was totally different. There was fresh flowers on the tables. Balloons over the tables. Everything was clean. It was somewhat disappointing to go the next time and it was dirty. Hopefully it was just a fluke but when I mentioned it to the hostess she didn't act like she cared about the trash at all. I'll go again just because I like the vegetarian bowl but I'll sit in the front dining room. I'd go back for the chip/salsa delivering robot lol”

Chicken isn’t dry, don’t take forever to chew, the ribs are perfect as well…You can TASTE the smokiness of the wood used in the meat…and don’t worry bout need all the extra thick sauce, the light gravy like sauce is ENUFF! Too much sauce WILL take away from the perfectly skilled labor of love that produced this meat.”

We paid $33 for our food including tax so it was a reasonable price for lunch. One con, I don’t really like the air hockey table as it was very loud the one time someone played it. Recommended for the food, but the air hockey table was distracting.”

“Since I rounded up my review of Johnny's on 18th St from 3.5 to 4 stars last year, I'll be fair and round up this review from 4.6 to 5 stars. Mimi's is definitely better than Johnny's. The dough is more flavorful than the Bisquick biscuit mix style they have at Johnny's. And I can identify what is on my pizza. That was a stretch of the imagination over there. This is definitely New York style pizza. It has the soggy mushy crust in the center, and the dough becomes a little drier and more chewy as it radiates out to a crispy edge. Thin crust. I've learned to take a small bite at the pointy end of my slice and a small bite at the round edge and chew these together to get a better balanced chew. Then I work my way towards the center of the slice. I traveled for over 25 years in my job, so I've had pizza all across America, some were NY style (although I never had it in NYC, just in other parts of that state).I walked in and ordered this a little after 3pm on Saturday, Oct 21, 2023. I had errands to run, so I requested a 4:30 pick-up time. That was fine with Colby since he had 3 customers ahead of me. I ordered the 16 inch pizza with Italian sausage, bell pepper, and onion. Total was $27.60. I put down $30 cash. Got $2 change. They DID NOT HAVE any coin change except for pennies. ? ? ? ?♂️ So I said we would settle up when I returned. I came back at 4:35, and Colby saw me drive up and brought the pizza out to me, which I appreciated. I had some loose change in my car, plus some in my pocket, so we went inside and I traded $2 in coin for 2 $1 bills from him. Then I got my 40 cents change.As for the pizza it was good overall, did not get sick, but I never tasted any oregano or basil on it. To me, those 2 herbs make it Italian. I stopped in about 2 months ago soon after they opened to check on ingredients to be sure I could eat there (I have digestive problems with soy (common vegetable oil) and additives such as MSG (Accent) flavor enhancer and sodium phosphate). We were good - olive oil and didn't sprinkle Accent on it like Newk's does. And the young woman cashier assured me they used oregano and basil because she had worked at other pizza joints where they did not know what those were. Yet I didn't taste any herbs and didn't see any herb flakes. I ate some cold the next morning for breakfast and still didn't taste any.I eat a low salt diet, so I found this pizza to be a bit salty. I chose not to get pepperoni for this reason, but either the dough or the mozzarella cheese was saltier than I prefer. And the Italian sausage was also salty, plus I prefer more anise in it, like the brand I buy for home. It did have bell pepper and red onion on it, but I would have preferred more, a bit skimpy in my opinion. Overall, I liked this pizza. Turns out the 16 inch pizza was actually 18 inches, so more than I expected. It IS better than Johnny's. But I still prefer the artisan style pizza I like to get at Billy's Pizza in Vicksburg, Frank's Pizza in Shreveport, and that pizza I got at some brewhouse on US Route 2 along the New Hampshire / Maine border in February 2004 when there was snow on the ground.”
“I came across this place while looking for food to be delivered to my hotel room. Well I decided the next day that I will check this place out. I ended up getting the buffalo wings which actually were not that expensive. I work in this area often so I will definitely check this place out again in the future. As for the service it is top-notch.”

However, parking can be somewhat limited. Upon arrival, I was promptly seated. The fish tacos I ordered were unfortunately only mediocre in taste. Nonetheless, my I server, Kylie was attentive.”

“Originally opened in 1928. We always look for the local none chain restaurants when we travel. This place is hands above any chain restaurant. Grits made with butter and water. Biscuits and gravy were great. Loved the local patrons. Reasonable prices! Staff was wonderful.”

“Mom and I have been craving crawfish, so it was time for a visit to Dixie Land Mudbugs! We got two of the 4lb bags, but 2lbs each would have been plenty! There was a good mix of huge crawfish and little ones. Each bag came with one piece of corn and two potatoes. I hate spicy food, and these were perfect for me. Mom would have preferred a little more spice! It was very good and I'm going back for the gumbo next time! You can call in your order ahead of time. Definitely worth the drive.”

“This is one of my favorite places to pick up supper on my way home from work. The staff is always so friendly and my order is always prepared quickly. The chicken is my favorite for sure. Their ribs are tender and meaty. I'm not crazy about their fried ribs, but I know other people who love them. They have spicy and mild bbq sauces. I prefer the mild. I've tried most all of their side items and they've been disappointing. I usually don't even bother ordering their sides anymore. While the meats are consistently tasty the sides have been consistently "just okay". I think that their prices are very reasonable. Nothing special about the ambiance at all. Not exactly "date night" atmosphere but perfect for folks looking for a place to get good food from friendly people”

“We live in extreme South Arkansas and we come to Monroe all the time to see the doctor. We ALWAYS eat at this Firehouse. Talk about friendly, helpful and nice, whew! The food is just as good. The manager is an awesome guy and remembered us from the last time we were there several weeks ago. Now, these people are doing it right and need a raise. I am not joking here. Great employees deserve greater pay.”

“Love this casual warm inviting spot in downtown Monroe. Took my sister for her birthday after the Black History Parade. The rave reviews I'd heard were well deserved. I got Fried Catfish with Crawfish Ettouffee. My sister had Fried Dhrimp & Fried Oysters. My niece had chargrilled Oysters on the shell. Everything was delicious. Our server was great. Their outdoor dining patio is beautiful.”

“My Fiance and I heard about this restaurant through one of my co-workers. I was afraid of being treated differently because of our age but that was NOT the case. We were treated like everyone else. We did go again about two weeks later because of how much we love the food, and we waited for 40 minutes before anyone paid attention to us, and we were the only people seated since it was a later reservation. HOWEVER, I do not believe in being rude on just misunderstandings. After getting attention of a hostess and not overreacting about it, our orders were immediately taken and our apps came to us within 10 minutes after. Our food was perfect separated out so we did not feel rushed, and the owner was more than generous with how he compensated our wait. I absolutely love this restaurant and WILL be returning. I cannot see why anyone wouldn't love the chef and his work. If you are planning on going, you have to try the deviled eggs and the scallops. And to the owner, please keep scallops on the menu for March 30th because I WILL be ordering them!”
