As much fun as the primary local competition, but different. Bigger beignets with optional chocolate, but watch out: one order of three is hard for one person to consume without getting full. Other foods are small servings but a good value. Shorter lines, but all indoors.
Stopped in for a quick NOLA coffee and beignets before boarding the Natchez steamboat. Service was fast and there were plenty of places to sit. Personally, I liked their beignets better than Du Monde, but YMMV. Definitely freshly made!

I was looking for a yummy and filling meal that wouldn’t break the bank, and I wandered into Cafe Beignet on Decatur. I ordered the mushroom and bacon omelette, and while I was waiting, I almost immediately regretted my decision. Why didn’t a get a coffee and beignets, as is their speciality!
