“One of the oldest locations in Salem. The Lyceum is famous for its' longevity, history, and right now food. We ate lunch there and sat in front of the fireplace. The venue was very laid back with an atmosphere of going back in time. There is an air of energy I cannot explain other than going there yourself and experiencing it. Even though I wasn't sitting on the bar side, I managed to walk around and just get a good eye-look. The food was excellent as well as the service. Our waitress made sure we were taken care of and we didn't have a need to worry about asking for anything. The host at the entrance made sure to ask us while we were dining how the food and service were. This is a place you should visit. A bit pricey, but hell, so is everything else now-a-days. Might as well get great service and good food.“

“Beverly’s must-visit café for more than one reason. Amazing crêpes (sweet or savory - ask for the authentic buckwheat crepe if you go savory), delicious pastries, and the most welcoming atmosphere and team. Also love their beer and wine selection on a Fri or Sat night. 10/10.“

“I was around the area and was craving for some Ice Cream - so what did I do? Open Yelp and looked for the closest one to me and has at least 4 Stars reviews- You already know what popped up first - Holy Cow Ice Cream ! I pulled into their parking lot on a drizzly 7pm evening - and have no idea what I wanted . At the same time , I don't want to be standing there looking at the 25+ of flavors that they had . Surely enough- I said to myself, ima have the worker pick for me ! So I said to the girl with a gray sweater, tied pony tail- "idk what I want, can you surprise me ?!" - she didn't hesitate or think twice or question anything (other then do I want it in a cup, cone, etc and I picked waffle cone)- and I'm glad she didn't ask me anything more than that because I STILL didn't know what I wanted lol! . She ranged me up, and did her thing . I also overheard her coworker asked if she wanted her to do it instead- she said no- she will surprise me . I waited approximately 3 min- she handed me a big WARM ice cream cone. I'm going to go ahead and say that waffle cone was freshly made. She gave me two scoops of something which had chunks of caramel squares and chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip. It tasted a bit like butterscotch and something else . The bottom of the waffle cone had chocolate squares and mini chocolate chips and oh. My. Goodness. It was the most delicious ice cream I've ever had ! Kudos to the girl who "Surprised Me" with this ice cream on April 10th at 7pm ! I'll never know this flavor . lol And I'll probably say the same thing when I come back“
“Notch Brewery and Taproom in Salem is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for hanging out with friends enjoying beers and playing games. The brewery offers mostly Czech and German style craft beers, each brewed with care and attention to detail. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to recommend a new brew or answer any questions. Plus, the spacious taproom provides ample seating, making it easy to find a spot even during busy times. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to enjoy the outdoor seating. Keep in mind that they do not sell beer flights. Overall, Notch Brewery and Taproom is a fantastic spot to unwind and enjoy some great beer in Salem.“

“THEE best!! We stopped by after our visit to the Witch Museum and this gem is located across the street. We tried the Milky Way cookie with vanilla soft serve. FRICKIN delicious, the cookie was baked to perfection, warm and paired nicely with the ice cream. We also got the Carrot Cake, also FRICKIN delicious and baked to perfection. The center was filled with a nice dollop of vanilla frosting and tasted just like a slice of carrot cake. We devoured them and unfortunately didn't snap a photo. Big shoutout to Dylan and Amanda for the great service!!:) 10/10 highly recommend!!“

“Went on a Sunday morning around 11ish. Sat our selves at the bar and got greeted/menus within a couple of minutes by the bartender. For a place that is not that large they do a decent job of utilizing the space to seat customers and also make it not feel super cramped. They have some fun drinks on the menu and the breakfast menus has a lot of options. Once our order was placed the food was brought out within a reasonable amount of time. The only one thing I'd make a suggestion to is please look at the ticket of any requests made by the customer (ordered well done has browns sadly there were not)The value of the meal was satisfactory and the overall experience was good. From the outside this place may not catch your eye but it is worth checking out if you are looking for a spot in Salem,MAParking: Parking lot is in there back if it is full try to find street parking can be tough. In the lot if people park correctly there's enough spaces if not sorry you're out of luck parking there.Wheelchair accessibility: No accessible in the front due to stairs. Unknown if there is a back entrance.“

“This place has delicious seafood. Here you order your meal at a window inside of the restaurant and then wait in the dining area until you are called to return to the window and pick up your food. There is plenty of seating in the dining room and I found it to be very clean. The order taker at the window seemed pleasant and helpful. You can order a mini meal that comes with one side dish or you can order a larger plate that is served with two side dishes. I opted for the mini meal and I got the fried scallops with french fries as my side dish. The scallops were delicious and the fries were very good as well. If you come here but want something other than seafood they do offer other items such as chicken sandwiches, hamburgers and chicken fingers. If you are a seafood lover though, I would definitely order some seafood here. You won't be disappointed. This is an excellent dining destination and I would certainly like to go back.“

“I cant say enough amazing things about the food and service here. Every time they exceed my expectations. The birria stew is the ABSOLUTE BEST and I cant decide if the birria ramen or the birria nachos I like more. My favorite though is the elote loco, it is perfect every single time. Oh the tamales are also wonderful!“

“I'm so glad my husband and I randomly came here late one night when all the other restaurants were closed. This place has THE BEST grilled cheese and the MOST AMAZING tomato soup I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about that soup now and I had it in October. My husband ordered one of the hot dogs and it was equally delicious. The staff are super nice and though we did have to line up outside (it was coldddd), the person managing the line/door outside with us was doing a great job trying to get the tables filled as quickly as possible. I highly recommend this spot when you're visiting Salem!“

“What a great brewery! Finally one in the area that isn't all IPAs! Such a good selection! Jeff was really cool to talk with and gave us lots of info about the beers and what makes them so good. And the event schedule looks interesting too. Will definitely be coming back soon“

“This was a close walk from our accommodation and it did not disappoint. My mom and I were immediately greeted and given some time to choose what we wanted for coffee and food.I got a fall special that was better than any pumpkin spice drink from Starbucks or Dunkin and avocado toast. My mom got an iced Americano and a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant. Our food and drinks were exceptional! The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed with music that is not loud. A wonderful spot to get some work done as well in their booths, at a table or at the counter looking out the window people watching.If/when I make it back to Salem/Beverly, I will make it a point to stop back in!Highly recommend.“

“Have had BBQ all over the country, and unfortunately around the local area too. This place however, makes some really legit legit meats, with their St Louis dry rub style ribs being the shining star. Absolutely the best rack of ribs I've had in New England, meaty and smoky with a perfect pull off the bone. The chicken wings as well are surprisingly excellent, super crispy and offered with traditional southern flavorings. Love the moist cut of their briskets, just great S&P seasoning. For sides, the fried pickles and potato salad are awesome, but I personally really like the dirty rice the most, I just wish they gave you more.“

“Had the Mysore dosa tonight, amazing! Crispy exterior, tender filling, and the side of soup and two chutneys made it even better. “We ordered breakfast sandwiches over the phone for our millwright crew while in town for plant maintenance. The staff were extremely friendly & very fast with the breakfast sandwiches we ordered, they were ready as soon as I literally walked in the door! They have a small cozy atmosphere that I'm excited to bring my wife back to enjoy together. The sandwiches were some of the best we've had in a while. My croissant was very light & airy, yet not too flaky at all. The bacon was crispy, the cheese wasn't too hot and the egg was cooked perfectly! The guys enjoyed their bagels and we couldn't shut up about how delicious everything was. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town for outage season!“

“10/10 Five Stars All the Accolades We had a group of 20- 13 kids and seven adults- and our service was TOP NOTCH. They seated us together right away. Brought our food out together and quickly. Understood that we had picky kids and worked with us every step of the way. The food is amazing. The cocktails were cute. The kids had root beer floats, so it was fun for them, too! I always come back because of their food, but their service has made this a staple of mine for every trip to Salem from now on!!“
“Amazing flavors! I had a coffee, chocolate and Goats milk caramel!! so decadent !Another had Cardamom, Saffron & Pistachio, delicate, and floral, so good! Excellent homemade ice cream, with unusual flavors, but also the regular flavors. A must try this summer!“
“Anytime I go to Gentile I am greeted with a smile, the beer is delicious & the owners know your name no matter how long it's been since you have stopped in. Great spot to go to for food trucks too! The outdoor area is cozy & inviting, as is the indoors.“
“Great beer and bites from the attached restaurant. Was visiting Salem for the day and decided to pop in here after seeing the reviews. The bartender was super nice and helpful when I couldn't decide. They also explained that the food and drinks are separate. After I ordered a beer I ordered some food at the next counter. I went with the Double IPA which was pretty good. For food we got skewers and the spring rolls. Both were so good!I'd come again whenever I'm in Salem.“

“Convenient location (from the mall) and easy online ordering. We were surprised that our order took nearly 25 minutes but realized it was because the dumplings clearly were made to order from scratch. “What I love the most about this place is that I was able to enjoy the whole sandwich without pieces of it falling apart. We all know the stages of grief when it comes to eating a fried chicken sandwich, but, they defied it! Thin and crisp cutlets, with a toasty yet moist and buttery brioche - it doesn't even need more. But, they went a step further with options like Nashville hot, sweet heat (strongly recommend) and one with generous slabs of crisp artisanal bacon. But, they didn't overdo it. There was no tsunami of sauce to ruin the bun, there was no hot oil spewing out of the folds of golden breading. This sandwich was made with airtight execution. The size of the sandwich could easily be shared if you had any semblance of self-control, but I wouldn't recommend it. The lot was pleasant to dine at, lots of low key people enjoying tantalizing meal choices. I will be back in a flash;. Don't hesitate to eat here.“

“Great food but the sauces are incredibly salty. I notice they give you half the portion they used to give . sorry they changed the menu. It was much better before . Also the one in Salem plays horrible pop music which ruins the entire vibe . And omg the juice is a tiny cup ! And it was separated. They went downhill fast !!! So dissatisfied. The kale was mostly stems .“

“My husband and I stopped in to grab a coffee before we hit up Logan to fly home. We met Duchess a super rad doggo, and some pretty neat humans too. I had the brown sugar toffee iced latte. 14 out of 10 would absolutely recommend. I don’t know when I will make it back to Salem. However, when I do, Spells Coffee Shop & Market has made the list for a return trip! Thank you for fueling a day full of travel.“

“Battlegrounds is a cool little coffee shop right on the heart of downtown Haverhill. They have all sorts of fun coffee flavors and their own beans for sale. The baristas were very quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is a typical cozy coffee shop with couches and tables to choose from. We loved that we were able to sit on the couches by the window and watch it snowing while we drank our coffees (which were nothing too special, but were still good). We would come back here again if we were in the downtown Haverhill area.“
“Cool place. Fast, friendly service. Pumpkin beer was really good! Food was tasty - the wings were AMAZING. They're beer braised, extremely tender and very flavorful. Pizza was just okay (sorry, I'm a New Yorker) but still enjoyable. My husband enjoyed the beer; he bought a four pack of Hit of Haze. Fun, local place! Worth a visit, for sure!“
“Our family’s favorite ice cream shop in Salem! This place is cozy and comfortable, and the owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We stop in here multiple times each trip and always love the treats and conversation. Can’t recommend this place enough!“
“Had a great time here with some friends! We each ordered a flight of the wines and ciders, and I went home with a bottle of my favorite red. The snacks are yummy, and the staff is very kind! “This is my favorite cafe in Haverhill. It feels like home every time you walk in the door! The food is incredible and fresh with a diverse menu and plenty of breakfast / lunch options. “Good food, but a weird thing: I asked for a second packet of honey, and the person at the cash register said it would be $2.50. I was shocked and obviously couldn’t pay that. The biscuits weren’t as enjoyable without enough honey, so that wasn’t great. It was clean, and well-kept, but no where to sit except a few bar stools. It definitely seems unwelcoming to dine-in visitors. Sitting in bar stools is not accessible for many people. For example, it makes dining-in not wheelchair accessible, it’s hard on many of the elderly, and for many of those with physical disabilities.“

“Enjoyed eating lunch here with friends while visiting. I noticed immediately that the space is smaller, which makes it a pretty tight walk around. Even with a lot of customers the noise level was not to loud. I was disappointed when there was a set of 8 of us and they said we needed to sit at different booths. Eventually we asked if we could move to the side with a booth/table combo so we could all sit together. The waiter was not so happy. The food then was divided by the two tables (not pushed together) and then brought out at very different times. When half of the table had their pizza the other half didn't. Once they had finished then we received ours. The menu was pretty confusing due to the lack of explanation of what they all offer. It does give the description but it doesn't adequately show what they serve as specials or explain it. Turns out after we ordered we found their "march madness" wall that had all the pizzas we could order but would have had no idea what was on each one. The pizza it self was very good. It was not over done and a well rounded pizza. I think it's something I'd eat once but not say it's a "must have" again since IM NOT a huge pizza person.“

“The sandwich was fantastic! In the end that’s what counts. I gave it 4 stars because this is a lunch place in an industrial center… and it took well over 20 minutes to get the most basic sandwich they offer. And the place was only 25% full at the time. It was way too long to wait for a lunch crowd. Tighten that up and they are awesome.“

“There are several brewing operations within walking distance of the Newburyport MBTA commuter rail station, even if much of this is along roads without proper sidewalks. Still, when combined with a $10 weekend commuter rail pass, you can explore all these breweries in one day trip without worrying about driving afterwards, all while saving on the cost of gas. Newburyport Brewing is one of these breweries. It's located deep inside a dead-end road about a 20 minute walk from the train station - but there are at least 2 other brewing operations along the way. Once inside, you'll find a large, rustic, pub-like taproom with about a dozen draft brews on offer. There's also a large, sun-drenched beer garden outside. I tried a variety of brews via a flight when I stopped by: the Plum Island Belgian White wheat beer, Overboard NEIPA, Sandbar DIPA, Newberry Blue sour, and the toffee stout. A nice variety that showed that they can make clean, light, easily drinkable brews across a spectrum of styles - not to mention refreshing ones on a hot early summer day.Even though there was a steady stream of folks lining up at the bar, service was attentive, efficient, and detail-oriented. When I stopped by, it was particularly busy because there was a solid live band. If I remember correctly, they had some snacks available for purchase, but if you want something more substantial to help you soak up the booze, you can either bring your own food or order delivery. All in all, a lively, social venue in an otherwise quiet commercial corridor of Newburyport with plenty of brews to make it worth your while in getting here.“

“Super creamy and delicious! The menu is changing constantly and being refreshed with new flavors whenever I go, so their home made ice cream always taste fresh. However, the portions are rather small. I got a cone and there was no ice cream in the cone, only on the top.“
“Had 3 non dairy flavors. I got chocolate and blueberry crisp. The also had mint oreo. The flavors were good. I loved the blueberry crisp flavor but the crisp kinda turned to soggy. It had a lil tang like a froyo. Theres a cool lil grove with benches to hang and eat outside, although it seems like itd be mosquitoy at night. Worth a stop here if youre in the area or having a date night out. Theres a big field or farm with a nice view next door.“

“My friends and I are all regulars at LBs and have been since before the move. Longboards is much more than an excellent bar to us. I've never had a bad dish here, although the new extra large wings and the ricotta sausage flatbread is always top of mind when we get the menu. They have all our favorite beers behind the bar for a fair price and we love trying out all the cocktails too. More importantly this is where we go to watch a game, celebrate new jobs, party on holidays, and I'll even have my bridal shower here in April. The bartenders are friends to us and this place is like the Central Perk or Cheers of Salem. I go here with my friends, on date nights, and I am even known to go alone for some good food and company. Thank you for being a second home to us LBs we love you!!“

“End of September 2023 we are here. The business is very busy and a lot of traffic in and out. First time here and I spoke to others here today who said they love it here and the ice cream flavors. Many have been coming for years and are loyal customers. We had single scoop ice cream on a waffle cone. I used to make home made ice cream for a restaurant and know when it is flavored well. I had the cookies and cream which was chocolate ice cream, and had good flavor to it. I'm not here to eat a pint of ice cream at once so the one scoop was plentiful. About $5 for a small which is a single scoop, again plenty for me. I also picked up a doggy cup which was just under $5. But there was plenty of vanilla cream in the cup with a large cookie on top. Many places give a very small amount of cream and a small milk bone and charge $5 for a doggy bowl. There was plenty for my dog to eat. We were here for 25 minutes and counted about 30 cars in and out with loads of people waiting in line, on this cloudy and cooler afternoon. I would have to say that Benson's is doing something right to draw in this many people on a cloudy September evening. I am sorry those others have had a not so great visit. Perhaps you might take a break for a bit and come back with an open mind. You may have a better opinion.“
