“I was in my feelings and didn't want to go home at 9:30pm tonight to eat leftovers. So I came here and I'm glad I did. Casey and the drive through young folks were so polite. They made me laugh and I tried something new. I can definitely appreciate the great customer service.“
“Truly delicious! Visited Alexandria and noticed there are lots of ice cream shops to get a scoop you could get at home, but we wanted something special. Goodies is it! We tried the brownie sandwich sundae, the apple donut sandwich with homemade caramel sauce and the Oreo sundae. All were fantastic and my family loved them! Very nice outdoor seating area in a great location. Brandon (the owner) was really helpful and friendly. There was a bit of a line on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but it moved quickly and was so worth the wait. FYI, it was cash only. We'll be back for sure!“

“At Ice N' Slice we discovered a delightful twist on our pizza nights. Here, Ethiopian spices dance with traditional flavors, creating something truly unique. Each dish we tried was a testament to culinary creativity, perfectly suited for any palate. But what really set our experience apart was Mr. Biniyam's warmth. His hospitality wasn't just service; it was like being welcomed by an old friend, making our dinner feel extra special. This place is more than a restaurant; it's where food becomes an adventure, and every visit feels like home. For anyone craving a new flavor or a cozy spot to dine, Slice N' Ice is the perfect find.“
“This is a cute little place with unique gelato flavors. We waited on a short line about 5 minutes. The staff is big and extremely agile. I was able to sample some flavors before deciding on hazelnut crackle and bananas foster. You can have two flavors in one cup. This is some of the best gelato I've had to be honest. It's just very expensive. My tiny maybe 6 ounce cup was almost $9. It's not something I would eat often at that price but a nice occasional treat.“
“The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.“
“My son and I ate at Bacio today and let me say we had a wonderful experience. We sat on the cute patio and it was so peaceful and quiet, you wouldn’t know you were in the middle of DC. The server was friendly and attentive. I liked the alcohol selection, and had wine. We enjoyed mozzarella sticks which we could tell were made in house and not just reheated from frozen like in most other places. The pizza my son got was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed my arugula salad with shrimp. I wish they were a little more cooked but that is a personal preference. The desserts very very good too, we really liked the limoncello raspberry cake. We really highly recommend this place and we can’t wait to go back!“
“My baby girl and I truly enjoyed their desserts. I purchased two banana puddings and a kale/callaloo patty. The patty was amazing, filled with flavor! We are definitely returning for that deliciousness. The kind young woman at the front let baby girl try the birthday cake flavor and she wouldn’t let the spoon go the entire walk home?. After purchasing great reads from Sankofa bookstore, we ended with a full heart and stomach at Here’s The Scoop?“
“Got the stratiacella and passion fruit sorbet. Like that they do two flavors in one cup. Wish that the stratiechella had those more classic chocolate ribbons but the passion fruit was killer. Relatively fast service even though we were stuck behind a big group of kids. Perfect post dinner snack vibes.“
“The much-anticipated sister restaurant of Purple Patch opened just a few weeks ago and I'm already hooked! It's a lovely addition to the neighborhood, offering a simple menu with a lot of flavor. The wagyu burger is nicely balanced, and depending on your appetite you can get a single to a triple patty. The ube soft serve with coconut is such a hit and the flavors are perfect. It's been really busy for good reason, so you might have to wait in line especially on really nice days, but service is pretty fast and they also have an order online link. Enjoy the outdoor seating on a nice day! Indoor area is small but very pretty, and stools with counter-style tables lining the interior. Very kid friendly as well as they have a kids' menu,' tables, and neighborhood kids' art on the walls. You can also purchase a few Filipino snacks like v-cut chips and boy bawang (garlic corn nuts), and they also have some canned non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages available. With the addition of Joia Burger, the owner Patrice really shows how much she cares about the Mount Pleasant community and is invested in it. It's a great spot to swing by for a quick meal and friendly faces!“
“Old Town Alexandria can be a tourist trap if you don't know where to go or access to the local-"in crowd" on where to go. I myself would confess to being a zombie tourist if it were not for all the crowd-sourced reviews and convenient map search features. This long-winded review intro is meant to steer you off-the-beaten-path, away from touristy stuff, and see what little shops lurk in the edges off *streets of royalty* ( ahem, I meant look at what's out there beyond King Street, Prince Street, or Duke Street ).And in the case of Casa Rosada Gelato, you would literally walk pass it given recent construction that forces the relocated front entrance to be hidden deep off some loading bay alley (the pictures says it all). The alleyway is almost 25 paces off the main street and there are no signs except for some Casa Rosada icon on paper taped to a plywood board where the front entrance would be. Had to band up with a visiting family of 5 to go gelato hunting for the front entrance. It's especially scary at night and yet so fun too given how dark the entire surrounding intersection block is with no cars or people in sight. But the gelato is good - way better than the throw-back-themed ice cream chain shops that promise to top sweetened air-filled cream (ie. normal ice cream) with rainbow covered sugar that's meant to distract you from all the air you are buying in your ice cream. With most gelato classic flavors available, we opted to go 'off-the-beaten-path' theme and go for walnut and madeira wine gelato. Tasting both flavors mixed was a symphony of flavors I doubt you can find anywhere else in this Old Town.“
“Delicious and unique. The ice cream flavors here have no comparison. This is some of the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Between the three of us, we tried six flavors and could not agree on which was best. If you’re looking for great ice cream, Jeni’s is your place. Don’t worry if the line is long, it moves very quickly.“
“Went here on a whim with a few friends after dinner. Very cute and cozy shop, for a quick sweet treat. I got the blueberry basil sorbet and pain perdu. The blueberry basil was phenomenal!!! Really tasted like fresh blueberries and the basil was standout. The pain perdu was a little lackluster compared to the sorbet, however it was very creamy and cinnamon forward. I would go back for the sorbet for sure. A con for this shop is that they don’t do any samples which was a big bummer.Vegetarian options: Sorbets and vegan icecream“
“Came here on a Sunday night for ice cream and had a great experience! Good range of flavors and a nice atmosphere. It was fairly busy, with a short wait before ordering and all the tables full. The small cup comes with two flavors and is ~$8. Pricey for the size, but it is expected for Dupont. I haven’t tried the coffee yet, but it seems like it would be a great spot, and I would love to come back.“
“We went to the Mono (Georgetown) location and our burgers were excellent. The staff was friendly and the space was clean. There was outdoor seating enjoyed by many, but we chose to sit indoors and people-watch in the charming, bustling area on a Sunday afternoon. Great experience as out-of-towners!“
“I felt like eating something sweet while sightseeing, so I went to this restaurant that has a high Google Map rating and many reviews. Visited around 11:30.We ordered chocolate, almond, lemon, raspberry and vanilla. What was especially delicious was the raspberry. It tasted amazing and delicious, just like eating fresh raspberries.Next time I go, I think I'll order the raspberry and chocolate + new flavor. There are 8 seats in total, including 2 counter tables that can seat 4 people, so you can eat in.We were the only people eating and drinking inside, but people kept coming in to buy coffee and baked goods.Unfortunately, the eat-in space is not clean. There were remnants of eaten bread and baked goods, gelato and coffee left on all eight tables.I thought this was really cruel. That said, the gelato taste was outstanding. I hope many people try the raspberry flavored gelato!“
“Upon entering the facility, I was showing my mom what cookies were available for the week, waiting for the kiosk when one of the employees asked if we would like help. They took our order and showed us the beautiful cookies. I had a jammy heart cookie that was sweet and delicious!“
“Gourmet Chocolate...yes please! Outstanding and wonderful service. I got a decorative box for my Mom's birthday truffles and she loved it! The Carmel Apple, Chocolate covered oreos, and fudge is AMAZING! I highly recommend and will be back.“
“Delicious dairy and ice cream! They accidentally left a pint of gelato out of our order and then drove it by the same day with an extra included! So nice, and such incredible service during crazy times! I'm excited to go back there in person when things are opened up again.“
“I'm a home ice cream chef that makes a LOT of ice cream, usually a few batches per week. And so whenever I travel for work, I like to hit up a bunch of ice cream shops both for new ideas and to also see how well that my secret ice cream making companions are doing.Typically I'll grab a mint chip ice cream, since it's a simple flavor that does a good job of highlighting whether the ingredients are high quality or not. But I saw the Grapefruit Brulee pint on the menu and knew I had to grab it.WOW am I glad I did because it was one of the best flavors of ice cream I have ever had. Really wish I had this recipe for this one because it was so danged good. Whoever at Happy Ice Cream reads this, major kudos to the chef who came up with this flavor. So very very good. The only real downside is that they only sell pints in the winter, which is way more than I should probably buy for myself. That said, the staff was super nice and fun to chat with, and they loaded me up with extra spoons to bring back to my hotel room.“
“There just isn't anything better than stopping in and enjoying a cup of Jeni's truly splendid ice cream. Jen I worked on perfecting her ice cream for years before discovering a secret ingredient that makes her ice cream the creamiest, smoothest ice cream you'll ever try! She has a variety of creative flavors and even dairy free! This location seems small but there is seating upstairs so you can annoy your treat with a splendid view of the U Street corridor.“
“What a delightful store. You will find high-quality chocolate and outstanding customer service. I was buying for my chocolate loving but nut-intolerant wife and the owner and counter help treated me as if I were the only person there. They were patient and totally helpful. There's a small sitting area if you want to sip coffee or hot chocolate. I imagine it can get crowded, but it still adds to the ambiance.“
“Delicious (vegan) donuts sold alongside awesome frozen custard. We had the special, a banana pudding custard, which was one of the best ice cream/custards I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to go back.Parking: Parking in the lot across the street is free!“
“Above average ice cream stand (no inside seating) with limited outdid table. We had pineapple sorbet, which was quite good. There are tiny pineapple piece I can taste, I think it's chopped dried pineapple they added. Someone had good looking banana split. Next door is a good pizza place with lots of seating..so you can hit both.. it was like $5 for a cup of pineapple sorbet, they make it there. Always long line on nice days, so come with friends to chit chat while u wait..“
“Makiens service was extremely professional and as elegant as the chocolates served at Kilwins. The soft but enthusiastic phenomena his personality brings to Kilwins is nothing short of Oscar worthy and as welcoming as a smooth whiskey on a parched throat. Truly, a master of his craft. I will be returning for him.Chocolates were pretty good too“
“This is a must visit if you are in Old Town Alexandria. Even in winter, the ice-cream hits the spot. They have great flavors to choose from and all of it is freshly made. I've tried ice cream from the other places in Old Town and they definitely don't come close to Pop's.It is a charming little store and perfect for first dates. Grab a little ice cream and take your lovely date for a stroll along the river. It's cheap, delicious, and romantic. You can't beat that!“
“This place is like a tiny apothecary filled with very beautiful and expensive treats. There were beautiful single source chocolates and packets of pasta that looked like art. The bagel I got was perfectly functional, good for a walk, but I would come back to get a gift or a special treat for someone.“
“This place can get popping' with its limited parking but it's close to my house and they usually have what you're looking for. Street parking can be available if they have no space in their lot and they have a small seating section next to the line where you order. There are three windows you can order from but only the first two have the bar code scanners. I love this place and will definitely be coming more during summer time!“
“Loved the ice cream. It was extremely good. The dessert is well worth its price. The people are super friendly, the place is clean and organized. I enjoyed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere this place gave me and my friends. I encourage you to come buy some of this Gelato and ice cream.“
“Gelat’oh came to my school for teacher appreciation week! It was by far the BEST part of the week! They had so many great flavors it was hard to choose! I got 1/2 salted caramel and 1/2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch and they both taste DELISH! The woman in the truck was so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend!!“
“We absolutely loved this place! The best tasting waffle cones I’ve ever had with yummy homemade ice creams. Chocolates galore and creamy fudges. Plenty of chocolates for Easter treats! Customer service was top notch. Friendly employees that really care.Dietary restrictions: They had a few options for tree nut allergies including chocolate and peanut butter fudge“
“You have to go! DEFINITELY WORTH IT. THE RATING SHOULD BE 5 STARRS! I've been in DC for 12 years, and I wish that I had discovered this place sooner. The texture of the ice cream is impeccable. Creamy and luxurious without being dense, heavy, or tacky. No frost or big ice crystals in the body of the ice cream, making it super smooth. There's enough varieties without everything tasting like chocolate, cake, or berry forward like your mainstream ice cream shops.I got the halvah, cardamom almond, and Fred & ginger (peach, brandy, & ginger). The cardamom almond is my favorite from the scoops I've tried out. I also bought mud pie pint to take home.“
“I had a wonderful experience visiting the ice cream shop today. I went in on an extremely hot day with my children and was not expecting much customer care. Despite my low expectations, the staff were engaging, patient and very friendly in helping my family and I choose flavors. I personally asked for the staffs names because I want the management and them to know that I appreciate them going over and beyond to provide customer service. Daisha, Kayla and Matt you all deserve a round of applause.“
“Robert is awesome. So is the 'Dashing Thru The Dough" milkshake! We've already decided that next time we will try the "No OREO-Dinary Cheesecake". Thanks for the sweet treat, friendly conversation, and vacation memory.“
“My mom and I stopped in before seeing a show at the theater across the street. The place was clean and smelled so delicious! The ice cream was sooo good! I had the gooey butter cake and texas sheet cake (which was dairy free) and both were some of the best flavors I've had anywhere. And the cones! They're made fresh and have such a nice crunch without being so hard you break a tooth. I honestly almost went back for another when I was done. This is a definite stop!“
“It was a very great experience out with family. It’s perfect for a lunch or a dinner spot. It’s not super fancy but has a comfortable place. The counter is used for ordering and then the server brings it out. The food tasted great. And there’s ice cream options by the counter. Would go back again.“
“My experience at the ben&jerrys in the national harbor was exceptional. The person serving me was very professional, polite and friendly. Due to a large number of my friends ordering all together, the man serving us was willing to give us a larger discount on our ice cream. Definitely the place to go for a sweat treat spring, summer, winter or fall!“
“date of visit: Wed Aug 23, 2023 After walking through the city -we felt we deserved a sweet treat. We stopped into Larry's ice cream to satisfy our sweet tooth. Larry's is a small ice cream parlour on the lower level of a building. if you arent paying attention, you might miss it. The flavours of ice cream were very unique - i had never seen anything like this before. Obviously this is a small batch, hand-crafted artisinal ice cream. Oatmeal cook dough, Ginger (Peach, Brandy, Ginger) Pistachio , cardamom almond, and many others. We ordered a double scoop in a waffle cone. THe flavours were very good and quite unique. We enjoyed the ice cream very much. Quality ingredients, top notch flavours, and hand made - these things are worth paying a premium price for. The portions are a little smaller than you might get at some ice cream shops - but NOT compared to the big BR ice cream.“
“Enjoyed coming here with my family. The young woman at the counter was so friendly. I told her I was hard of hearing and she was so patient with me. The young woman's name is Unique. She really cares. The food was good but the customer service was excellent. This was our first time in the DC area. We will definitely come back here on out next trip here.“
“A nice little ice cream shop with vegan options. They can get busy on the weekends but the line typically moves pretty fast - go during the week in the middle of the day and there’s usually no line. They also have pint size options to take home. The praline butter cake and the vegan planet earth are my favorite so far.“
“This was my first time at this shop. I was craving some funnel cake and it was delicious. They have so many favors of ice cream! My son loved the cotton candy flavor. My husband enjoyed his strawberry smoothie. The staff was super nice and I loved the relaxed atmosphere. A hidden gem! We live so close by and will definitely come back.“
“Got the stratiacella and passion fruit sorbet. Like that they do two flavors in one cup. Wish that the stratiechella had those more classic chocolate ribbons but the passion fruit was killer. Relatively fast service even though we were stuck behind a big group of kids. Perfect post dinner snack vibes.“
“This place was amazing and great i had went here a couple of months ago and they had no tables but i went again today and they had tables the floors were done and it was amazing and this is definitely the place u want to go to eat ice cream and they have tables outside and the ice was so “
“Great for gift giving no matter the occasion, this place will have something scrumptious! Are you looking for cherry blossom themed treats? They have chocolate cherry bark, plus holiday and special seasonal candy. Nice packaging too. Check out the CLOUD! It is a made-from-scratch marshmallow with a ribbon of caramel covered in chocolate. They also have chocolate covered pretzel rods, giant peanut butter cups. and chocolate covered oreos, which are very popular. There are many more candy items, too. If you can't make it to the candy shop on Capitol Hill, you can order online. My order arrived carefully packaged, quickly, and not any cookies were crumbled! My DC Landmark chocolate covered Oreos were delicious!Great communication from the company about the order - I knew exactly when it was arriving.“
“Great, locally made ice cream. They've got a wide selection of flavors, including some less common options like honey lavender. The service was amazing, and the gentleman who helped us was very patient with our kids. They've also got books and board games available in the seating area.Kid-friendliness: Very patient service, let the kids sample a couple flavors when they couldn't decide.“
“As my wife and I approached the store, we saw it was in a creepy looking dark corridor. It had no lights except those from the store. When we got close to the corridor, it suddenly didn't look dark. That's a trick on the eyes due to distance! It's located in "the mall" which is located in the corner of a small shopping area. This is a small family business. They sell ice cream, paletas, Latino prepackaged snacks, and cold drinks. They have a lot of unusual flavors in their frozen treats. Flavors like chicle, nuez, nance, pinon, tequila, etc. Paletas are Mexican frozen treats on a little stick. It can be made with fruit, herbs, spices, or ice cream. Some flavors are a combination of these. All of the frozen products in this store are bought from vendors. There was some delay in ordering because the woman in charge spoke only a little English. A young lady who was helping her, spoke English well. She didn't know all of the ingredients in many of the flavors. So, understanding Spanish would be useful. Searching the names of the flavors on the internet will give you the main ingredients. We bought 2 ice creams and 4 paletas.1) Gansito ice cream It was vanilla ice cream with swirls of chocolate syrup and strawberry syrup. It had shards of chocolate and pieces of strawberries. It had good flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. This was much better than neopolitan ice cream! Gansito is a Mexican snack cake that has a chocolate coated sponge cake filled with white creme and strawberry jelly. I've never had a Gansito, but this was very delicious!2) Raspberry cheesecake ice cream It was buttery cheesecake ice cream with swirls of sweetened raspberry puree. It had bits of raspberry and tiny raspberry seeds. It was rich and creamy with a mild sweetness.3) Tequila paleta It was like an ice milk with a light tequila flavor with a mild sweetness. I can't say that I loved this. It was so-so.4) Rum raisin paleta It was like an ice milk with a moderate smooth rum flavor. The raisins were all clumped together at the top. It would have been better if the raisins were distributed evenly because the sweet raisins went well with the rum. An almost great flavor.5) Piñon paleta Piñon is the edible seed from a pine tree, aka pine nut. The flavor is mildly nutty. This paleta had a mild nutty and coconut milk flavor. It smelled like oily coconut. Not appealing at all!6) Nuez paleta Nuez means nut in Spanish and pecan in Mexican. This had a light butter pecan ice cream flavor. We enjoyed it because it wasn't too buttery or sweet. The service was helpful, patient, and polite. The store was clean. There were 2 tables and 4 chairs. No restrooms for the public. There's plenty of free parking around the area. They have at least 27 ice cream flavors and 24 paleta flavors. The price for 4 small scoops of ice cream was $5. The price for each paleta was $3. Not cheap, but some are worth the price. We'll be trying more flavors. The Latino snacks looked interesting also.“
“We visited this the one at the corner of 14th Street and F Street, close to the Treasury building and the White House. Probably our favourite place to eat in DC. We were very glad to have found it, not too far from the National Mall. We were determined to avoid all the burger vans serving crap! This place is not a tourist trap and serves decent enough coffee with plenty of choice. Also a good selection of baked goods, as the name implies. My partner loved the cinnamon roll. However I couldn’t help being shocked at how absolutely everything is served in disposable packaging. It seems so wrong and wasteful to a European. I realise America is different but not everything different is good. Anyway, having said that, it’s true of so many American places to eat, not just here. I would recommend it as a decent place to go within spitting distance of the National Mall and the White House. We really liked the relaxed atmosphere. Just one note of caution- I think I was pickpocketed in the restroom there, so take care if you go in there.“
“I recently visited Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard and had a wonderful experience. I tried the mango Misto shake, mango Italian ice, cherry Italian ice, and mango gelato, and all were absolutely delicious! The mango Misto shake was creamy and refreshing, with a perfect balance of sweetness and mango flavor. The mango Italian ice was incredibly flavorful and tasted like biting into a fresh mango. The cherry Italian ice was also delicious, with a bold cherry flavor that was very refreshing. Lastly, the mango gelato was creamy and smooth, with a rich mango flavor that was simply delightful. The staff at Rita’s were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes.Overall, I highly recommend Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard to anyone looking for delicious frozen treats. Whether you're a fan of Italian ice, gelato, or frozen custard, Rita’s has something for everyone! Love me some ritas.Parking: Parking is plentyKid-friendliness: Perfect place for kids and the entire familyWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchairs will not be obstructed“
“Maryland Dairy has been serving ice cream on the University of Maryland for 100 years. Formerly located in the Turner Building, its name has been simplified, and it is now conveniently and logically located in the food court of the Stamp Student Union. We were planning to have lunch after leaving campus, but we had to have ice cream first! The colors and names of the choices were attractive. The purple was actually blueberry with vanilla cookie pieces and cream cheese icing swirl. It was named after W.S. Arbuckle, a former university professor and author of a definitive book on ice cream. We also tried Terpresso, a double strength coffee ice cream with crushed Oreos and a caramel swirl named after the Terps or Terrapins sports teams. The Sapienza, which we were told is the customer favorite, was a creamy, rich vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate chips and chunks of chocolate fudge brownie, a smooth chocolate swirl, and creme de cacao. In recognition of Jim Henson, a prominent alumnus, and his Muppets the green mint ice cream with chocolate chips was named Kermit’s Kiss. I only regret not bringing an insulated bag so I could take home some pints from the freezer.“
“Let me find out Dunkin is on the come up.Y'all got a Cakery now? What?So if you're familiar with this area you know that there crap ton of construction going on and this location used to be a bit further back. Now, it is much easier to see from the road and get to it. The entry into the parking lot is pretty tight and I imagine this will be an issue going forward, because I noticed a couple of instances where cars had trouble coming into the parking area while others were trying to leave. The inside is really open with kiosks to order and they also have their menus on large TVs and a case with their bakery items. They moved pretty quickly with my order and everyone was really polite. No issues with my order, they got everything right. I'm happy that it is closer to the road, because it will be easier for me to get my morning cup on the way to the city. If all of the Dunkin's move to this model I would dig it.“
