“There are two Starbucks on JBA that I am aware of. I Normally visit the location inside the medical center, but sometimes I also go to this location inside the Base Exchange. The drinks are always satisfying. I do admit that sometimes the service is a little off, but hey, we are all human so I try to just be kind and give people a break. This location can get very busy in the morning and at lunch; so just be aware. Overall, I've always had a good experience. Thanks.“

“I had Ethiopian cuisine on my bucket list for real long time, but since I couldn't find much time to visit any Ethiopian restaurant in New York city, I decided to go ahead with the one in Washington DC!Initially, I was a bit hesitant to order the meat dishes since my last adventure with African cuisine wasn't a great one. Glad that Ethiopians have a good amount of vegetables in their diet which helped me make a safe and easy choice to go with!I went ahead with their traditional veggie platter, which consisted of 2 vegetables, 2 lentil dishes and a salad served over Injera( basically the Ethiopian version of dosa: An Indian dish and a much softer one instead of crispy). The vegetables served were cluster beans along with cabbage and potato. The cluster beans felt right out of my home kitchen whereas the potato was undercooked in the cabbage one! The two lentil dishes served out of which one was the spicy one and the other not spicy. I loved both of them. Honestly, I never thought it would be so close to traditional Indian cuisine as a result I also let the server know the same.The server was pretty friendly and was happy to guide me through their menu while providing quick service. The restaurant though feels like a homely vibe with close seating and the ambiance being that of a family home.Overall, an amazing experience for me with interesting thing being it felt like having a home cooked meal rather than eating at a restaurant!“

“Orders are placed via phone or you can order at the counter but the tip defaults to 22%. I’m a generous tipper but am annoyed at this, esp when our server didn’t return with sugar after being asked for it or to check up on us. Otherwise, it’s a very cozy place.“

“I honored my reservation, identified myself and the time of the reservation at the front desk but the restaurant never checked me in and listed me as a no show. No one came to take our order. After 1/2 hour we flagged down a server (not our section) who said she would be happy to take our order and let our server know. We said ok just let our server know. Once she came snd took our order, food arrived quickly.“

“Great find and the perfect coffee spot for the hard to please, indiscriminant coffee lovers out there in the DMV! I stumbled on this place while riding past the Union Market neighborhood the other day, badly in need of coffee. And, so glad I did. I was completely impressed with the coffee products sold here at Unido. Also, I'd argue this is probably the best place in DC for coffee, if you're into single-source and specialty coffee brews. As a first timer, I was greeted by a Barista named Louis. This guy really knew his coffee and explained the concept of the coffee products in the store. During this time, I learned that the source of the coffee products sold were from Panama in which to be frank, I had no clue that Panama even had a global coffee presence. So out of curiosity, I was interested in trying their coffee to compare my thoughts of what they had to offer to other DC coffee 'Likes' around the city such as Sidamo, Blue Bottle Coffee, Kaldi's, Compass Coffee, La Colombe, Starbucks, and even Dunkin'! Yeah, I know....doesn't take much to outperform the latter....lol. At any rate, this place won me over. I was blown away by the flavor and taste of Unido and their Panamanian coffee. In the store, I tried a Geisha Pourover. The attention to detail, the presentation of the coffee, the ceramic cup all added to a great cup of coffee and ultimately my coffee pleasure. And the coffee itself, was delicious and perfectly brewed with a flavor profile that was nutty and chocolate. I like my coffee black and this one was perfect. I also tried an Iced Americano, at the recommendation of the Barista "to-go." The iced coffee was so rich, smooth, and full of an earthy --lite caramel flavor; which speaks to the care and quality of the beans that goes into making a cup. He added a shot of Ghirardelli dark chocolate that took this cup to the next level. In all, a great find. The vibe and atmosphere is chill and relaxing. Louis, the staff member there was knowledgeable and friendly, offering great suggestions for drinks to try. If you haven't been, I would recommend Unido....it's certainly worth a stop when in the Union Market neighborhood!“

“OMG, where do I start? This place is an absolute GEM. Service is incredible and the space/ambiance is top notch. Loved the music and vibe they created. Literally everything we ordered was incredible: - Goat/cheese/herb biscuit sammie: this was one of the best egg biscuit sandwiches I've ever had in my life, no joke - Turmeric labneh toast: delicious, light and unique flavors - the juice + lattes were amazing - Baked cookies: we got 3-4 varieties and they were so so so good. my favorite was the espresso chocolate cookie I can't wait to come back to DC and eat at this place again!“

“I had avoided this place, just 2 minutes walk from my house, for the longest time. First I thought it was a junkfood type coffee and sandwich place. Then when I realised it wasn't fully that, I still thought the name was totally dumb. I did know that I can't keep avoiding it forever, thus, a few months after my friendly neighbourhood convenience store owner heavily talked it up, I went. It is an Ethjiopian-owned spot that caters to the typical coffee shop crowd. They have a mix of normal fare, and some lowbrow version of fusion Ethiopian dishes. I had their altered variant of chechebsa. It wasn't bad as long as I didn't think of it as chechebsa. The place is tiny and quite cosy. I know I'll go back.“

“I had heard of Call Your Mother when researching good bagel places in DC. The bagels are okay - they are definitely not the chewy New York style I am used to. The everything was a bit underwhelming, however the apple cinnamon had just the right amount of sweetness. The oat latte was actually quite good; it’s a really good cup of coffee with a huge range of bagel sandwiches.Vegetarian options: You can build your own bagel sandwich and add veggies if you have specific preferences.“

“This is a cute little place with unique gelato flavors. We waited on a short line about 5 minutes. The staff is big and extremely agile. I was able to sample some flavors before deciding on hazelnut crackle and bananas foster. You can have two flavors in one cup. This is some of the best gelato I've had to be honest. It's just very expensive. My tiny maybe 6 ounce cup was almost $9. It's not something I would eat often at that price but a nice occasional treat.“

“It was our first out of 2 nights in DC and I wanted to have high-quality, memorable, delicious food and that's what The Duck & the Peach provided! The ambiance felt artsy and people were dressed casually but the food was fancy and expensive. My partner and I got the duck feast and everything was tasty, particularly the duck. We are duck lovers who eat duck a lot especially from Chinese restaurants and this duck was so tender and the skin was crispy the way I like it. We also had the mint ice cream bar for dessert which was super unique, almost savory and wrapped in an edible covering but I couldn't place what the covering was made out of (maybe white chocolate)? It was an expensive meal but we also took home left overs and we would come here again!“

“Everyone who loves high quality coffee loves this place. I’m not even a coffee drinker, and I get their coffee because it’s so good. I LOVE the grilled chicken pesto panini sandwich, and it always hits the spot. When I have out of town visitors, this is a spot I can take them that never disappoints. Everyone leaves here happy.A few weeks ago after a workout class I heard a woman talking with another woman about getting some coffee. They were trying to find a new coffee place to go to after the class ended, and one suggested Lot 38 because her friend hadn’t been there yet. After mentioning Lot 38, three other women, who were not even in the conversation, overheard and jumped in to rave about how good Lot 38 is! I think this single interaction really demonstrates how loved this place is.“

“Mixture Food Hall offers a variety of vegan foods, desserts, drinks, organic supplements, oils & herbs, play areas, arcade machines & including sport TV monitors, seating areas,180° bar area, upperstairs lounge space, 5 individual restrooms, parking space. The only downside was that baby strollers couldn't be rolled into from sidewalk & had to lift up the stairs. The art moral could be used for a photo background.Vegetarian options: They offered Musa's fried oyster mushroom sandwiches & a variety of sides; tacos qucidillas; bar beers & drinks; burgers; wings & salads. My son didn't like Musa food due to too salty fried oyster mushrooms & salty fries were overcooked. The wait staff was professional; followed food safety guidelines & customer service oriented.Parking: Small to mid-size cars & suvs use space but tight parking spaces.Kid-friendliness: They offered a play area including a table & 4 metal kid chairs with educational toys & games; a loga board game, arcade machine & shooting arcade game.“

Morning bun - very flavorful (cardamom & lemon) but a bit too dry for me. 3 stars Espresso & tonic - I did not like this at all, and will definitely get a safer drink option next time. There was a line at 130pm which I was surprised about, but it moved very quickly and we had no trouble finding a seat. Cute place, will be returning!“

“The service is amazing, especially from the long time staff members. We are chronically waited on my the same man, and he is always lovely and ensures everything is to standard. Also, where else can you go with friends that all like different cuisine? Everyone orders their choice, and it can range from sushi, to tacos, to pizza, to burgers, to pasta… the list is endless. We were so excited when the Roost moved in on Penn Ave, and we’re just as excited today as we were on day one, if not, more so. Please give the Roost a try if you’re ever in the DMV area! “It's been awhile since I used to run U Street and I came looking for the old Starbucks but it was nowhere to be found. I did find Cafe U and I just love this little spot. It's so cute, the Lox is my favorite thing, and the service is great. RIP Starbucks but I'm loving Cafe U.“

“The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.“

“I felt like eating something sweet while sightseeing, so I went to this restaurant that has a high Google Map rating and many reviews. Visited around 11:30.We ordered chocolate, almond, lemon, raspberry and vanilla.What was especially delicious was the raspberry.It tasted amazing and delicious, just like eating fresh raspberries.Next time I go, I think I'll order the raspberry and chocolate + new flavor.There are 8 seats in total, including 2 counter tables that can seat 4 people, so you can eat in.We were the only people eating and drinking inside, but people kept coming in to buy coffee and baked goods.Unfortunately, the eat-in space is not clean.There were remnants of eaten bread and baked goods, gelato and coffee left on all eight tables.I thought this was really cruel.That said, the gelato taste was outstanding. I hope many people try the raspberry flavored gelato!“

This shop is nestled among the historical row houses that make this area of DC quaint and beautiful. Accessibility is accommodating with a ramp just beyond the spacious patio.Inside, plants stand and hang in the bay window where you can drink coffee and draw snuggled on a velvet green couch. New and used books stand in the other bay window while local artists' works hang on the gallery-like walls all around.Inspiration lay on the beautiful long and wide wooden table in the form of thick art books and viney plants enticing you to stay a while and absorb culture and color. While Bob Marley sang about three little birds, I happily pulled out my small sketchbook drawing and sipped on a special lavender and honey with lemon drink, at peace.Should you be a lover of art, DC's unique architecture, and coffee, this is one gorgeous place to visit!Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp is available to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.“

“One of the best places to get a cup of coffee in DC. They have a really nice brew for their coffees. I got the flat white, which tasted really good, and had a strong roast. They also have a couple of coffees from all over the world. Nice place to study, and the service here is really nice. Servers were patient, and willing to offer recommendation. Coffee came in a matter of a few minutes.“

I don't live in the area anymore but fellow diners give a head nod like they're glad to see you again. It's a bit crowded Sunday afternoons. It's not a problem for couples, but large groups will have to wait a while.I had the curried chicken. The greens were so good that I forgot what the rest of the food tasted like. A number of people told me the drinks are good so I'll try one on my next visit.“

They get their beans from Small Planes (one of my favorite DC coffee roasters) and their Honduras pour over (for 5.00) was smooth and enjoyable. I also got a chocolate croissant (for 6.00) to pair with it which was quite tasty. Overall, solid coffee and pastries here and the atmosphere was lively. Also, Capitol Hill is a great neighborhood to visit and enjoy a snack/coffee break!“

“I’ve tried them all. Elle, the Den, Emissary, Tatte, Buna, 1990s cappuccinos at the Willard. Gotta hand it to the Den at #2, also an excellent experience. But Doubles is #1.Best coffee in DC when they get it right. Get a latte “for here” in one of their thick ceramic mugs and sit out in the warm Spring air on their covered patio. “The coffee drinks served by this place are reasonably good, albeit a tad bit pricey. In addition, the atmosphere of this coffee shop is seemingly laid-back, mellow, jovial, and ultra low pressure. My only complaint is the lack of variety in regard to the sweetners for the coffee.“

“First visit to a Peet's coffee shop. I've had their coffee at other places but never their own establishment. Customer service was great from the start. The barista asked what kind of coffee I typically like. I told him I like to try new things. He made me a hot dirty vanilla chai. It tasted fantastic. I came here to study and they have plenty of room to do just that. Outlets everywhere including throughout the floor, so no problem scoping that out when you walk in and come with an uncharged laptop. After an hour of studying, I ordered my second drink and some sustenance. This time I ordered a hot hazelnut latte, extra hazelnut and a hot ham & cheese sandwich, extra crispy. It tasted perfect and was not skimpy on the ham or cheese. It's a rainy Saturday afternoon and the people here definitely came to get some work and studying done. It's quiet, the music is just the right volume, and the barista even brought my orders right to me. I'll definitely be back!“

“My first time in Washington D.C., I got off at Union Station. It took me about 5 minutes to walk to the store. The first time I saw the store I was very impressed. The atmosphere inside the shop is very good. My boyfriend ordered an Americano. I ordered a latte and it was delicious.“

“I know what you're thinking: this is a a coffee bar located in the lobby of an apartment building. It can't be that great, can it? Well, you would be wrong. This is my neighborhood coffee spot and I have been here so many times I've lost count. The coffee you get here is consistently well made. I haven't had everything on the menu, but the breakfast items (pastries and made-to-order dishes) are top notch. The funfetti cookie and classic breakfast sandwich deserve special mention. The front of house staff are incredibly nice and usually down to chat as much or as little as you'd like as they make your drink. Even better, this is now one of the first locally owned and operated coffee shops in the DC area where the workers have come together to bargain and set standards for their working conditions with management. It's well known that union-made coffee inherently tastes better because you know that baristas have power and a voice when management inevitably starts to cut corners and prioritize the profits of their budding coffee empire over the health and safety of their employees. (I don't know the owners, I just know how incentives work.) So sip in solidarity, my friends! If the quality declines here it'll be because management has decided to cultivate a hostile work environment to try and undermine the solidarity and hope it's employees have worked so hard to build.“

Everyone who works there is friendly and asks about my coming day--like they care! “Despite living in the area for a while, I hadn't been to this coffee shop, but finally got the chance last weekend. It was pouring, so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor seating but I was impressed how much seating they manage to squeeze into the small interior space. The space does feel a bit cramped (especially on a rainy Saturday) but this is clearly a local gem - the staff knew a lot of regular customers by name and the atmosphere was very cute. My friend and I got chai tea lattes, which were very good! Not too sweet, creamy but also nicely spiced. Would definitely get another one. I got a bacon, egg and cheese bagel, which was a little underwhelming for the price, but nothing wrong with it. Their cream cheese options looked good, so I think if I were to go for breakfast again, I'd just get a bagel with cream cheese. It's a little on the higher side of pricing, but it's a very great little shop, so I'm happy to support it. I'll be back!“
