“The vegan meal we gad was excellent, and the staff and atmosphere were wonderful. They were kind enough to make a different appetizer than was on the menu due to peanut allergies. They also put a candle in my spouse's sorbet for their birthday, but didn't embarrass us by singing or anything like that. Will definitely come again.Dietary restrictions: Vegan food was great and they were able to accommodate a menu change for an allergy.”

“I'm from the deep South. I have a hard time finding BBQ joints that are Southern quality in the North. This is one of those places. This tasted like home. They don't have a sampler, which is my only very slight complaint. They did, however, let me get a kids plate and add all the different barbecued goodness as sides. It cost me like $22 to get everything that I wanted like that plus a drink. I'm definitely going back.Vegetarian options: No, they don't have vegetarian barbecued meat.Kid-friendliness: They have kid's meals.”

“The food was top notch. Great service. Really cool space. Menu options are elevated without being snooty and pair so well with the curated wine and cocktail menu. All were delicious, thoughtful, and expertly cooked, but the pork belly was done so well, so perfect, that I foresee an addiction developing. At 8pm on a Friday night we had no problem finding street parking out front. This place is jewel on the Bangor dining scene crown and should not be missed! Don't sleep on it!”

“For those of you complaining about the rest room being locked and having to make a purchase to use it.. this location has had several overdoses in their bathroom. Most places in bangor no longer have a public restroom due to the homeless population. I cant say i blame them. Drugs use and homelessness are real issues everywhere but especially in the bangor area. I never have issues with the workers, my coffee is always good, and when I need to use the restroom there is no issues because I am usually there making a purchase. This location is super busy and still makes my coffee right every time. And they have been making an effort to keep the bums from hanging around inside and outside. However, they can't do much if they make a purchase.”

“First off, there is easy parking for Frank's. That makes everything nicer. That they have been a fixture since 1945 is also nice, but the real test is the product. Being greeted by enthusiastic counter people was lovely. It was easy to figure out who was an employee by their hats and shirts-a very nice touch and nod to the past. Two thumbs up to everything we sampled, from gluten free cheesecake and yummy cookies to pizza. We are looking forward to sampling a sandwich or an entree during our next visit. Hopefully they'll be around for a lot longer--and by their track record, it seems like a good bet.”

“This was a different experience for us and not at all what we expected. The place is very small but has a really fun atmosphere. There are games that you can take and play are your table. We went for dinner and didn't quite catch that it's more of an extensive collection off appetizers... which turned out to be very delicious!!! The service was great even though it appeared to be one person doing it all! Was an enjoyable evening!”

We did not get her name unfortunately, however she went out of her way to give us excellent customer service and make us feel welcome. Both of our birthdays are this week plus Valentine’s Day, so we are in town for a special trip. So far it’s been awful, but our visit to Hero’s has been the best part and a highlight. We sat right across from the bike games and if you know who was closing in that section please show her some extra love because you have an excellent employee.Thank you, Hero’s for making our trip that much better, we will be back!”

“I'd moved away from the Bangor area over 18 years ago and found myself here on business and with a couple of hours to kill.I knew the Coffee Pot was no more but was pleasantly surprised to find The Legacy is offering the same Super Deluxe with salami on the same Brick Oven bread that was my standard choice for decades. My sandwich did not disappoint and was everything like I'd remembered it to be.The employees were friendly and provided prompt service.I will be making a special trip back and bringing a friend to try the Blue Ox (roast beef with your choice of horseradish or blue cheese).Thank you, The Legacy, for staying true to the old Coffee Pot sandwiches and adding lots more to the menu.”

KFC

KFC 603 Broadway, Bangor Chicken • $

“I’m really surprised by all of the bad reviews. I went in around 2:00 on a Monday afternoon and ordered a two piece combo, dark meat. The cashier seemed fine to me, competent - I mean, we’re not running off together to get married, but the exchange seemed perfect to me. She asked, I ordered, she told me my total, I paid, she gave me my cup and told me I was number one, I asked where the pop was, she told me, and we parted company. Then, get this, I walked around the corner to fill my pop cup, was just putting my cup towards the Mountain Dew Lightning tap when a guy hollered out “Number 1, two piece dark meat combo” and there was my box of food - it couldn’t have even been a minute. I went out to the car, opened the box and I had two perfectly crispy chicken pieces, a hot biscuit with butter, mashed potatoes with gravy - needed more gravy - and a spork. The chicken thigh I ate was fricking delicious - juicy, crispy golden perfection. I had to take away a star because management is skimping on the herbs and spices. If they added spices like the Scarborough KFC does, they’d be the best KFC in Maine.”

“First time visiting Denny's. We are immediately greeted by friendly staff who say hello and smile, and find me a great place for breakfast with a beautiful view from the window. I ordered SLAM berry waffles and orange juice. The order was accepted quickly and all details were clarified. SLAM berry waffles arrived quickly, they were still hot. We had to wait a little for them to cool down. Everything was very, very tasty. Especially the combination of sweet waffles with orange juice is simply delicious. I recommend everyone to try it. Smoke and Steel 471 Stillwater Ave, Bangor Barbecue • $$

“Our server, Griffin, was wonderful. He gave the perfect amount of attention; he didn’t hover nor was he scarce. He was very pleasant and polite. The food was delicious. Our hostess was a sweetheart and I met one of the owners as well when I purchased a gift card to use as a raffle item this weekend. He was very kind and generous. I will definitely be returning and bringing my friends with me.Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere wasn’t loud, the music was good, there was alcohol advertisements and signs but they were tasteful and moderate; it didn’t shout “drink because it’s fun” it spoke more of a “we serve alcohol but that isn’t who we are”.”

4.1 Good108 Reviews

“Food tastes great—I just can never get it because they are always understaffed and running a ghost ship of online ordering only. They are also frequently out of something—usually fajitas veggies. The lack of staff makes me wonder if the minimum wage laws are going to kill this company. They are allegedly hiring at $17 /hour (sign on door) but appear to only have like three people working generally.Since switching to the online ordering the portions have been very “controlled”/skimpy, and usually done wrong/missing something(s) on the ticket.I go here for the lunchtime convenience, but it is very inconvenient to have to order in the store from my phone since it takes WAY longer than a human interaction—this also means I cannot come just myself with my kid because I can’t be on my phone and watching the little bugger. After 10 minutes of pressing buttons and entering all the items I wanted using the online feature, I ended up leaving and going to Miguel’s because it said the soonest order was 45minutes out.I do really enjoy the food, so this is very depressing.*Edit: previously given two stars, they have improved significantly since my last visit. They had at least four workers, fajitas and were putting people through their lines! Way to go Bangor, chipotle!”
