“Of all the bakeries and coffee shops my husband and I tried on our trip to Portland, Tamdem was our favorite! The Americano was delicious and the salted coconut maple scone was one of the best I've ever had with the perfect crunchy texture on the outside and soft inside. I also tried the blood orange scone, which tasted a bit pithy to me. There was a line at 11:00 on a Saturday, but it moved quickly and there was plenty of seating outside.“
“Walking up to the establishment there were people waiting outside. They were very efficient and seated us surprisingly quickly. Decor has a European feel very clean with large windows in and out. You can watch them baking pastries. The drinks were wonderful and beautiful, food was delicious, fresh and inspirational with dishes with combinations that you wouldn’t expect, but worked well together and were well-balanced. “I’m obsessed with this place. They have really high quality authentic Asian sauces and spices, and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. They also carry cook books and merch. In addition to grocery items, they sell homemade baked goods and drinks. I’m obsessed with their hojicha latte. I love matcha latte but I’ve never had any other kind of green tea latte. I tried their hojicha green tea latte and I’m hooked. It’s a bit nutty and has less caffeine than a matcha latte, which is perfect for a midday pick-me-up. “I looked for a restaurant near me in portland maine and found rigby yard. So glad i did!! Hands down the best lobster roll in the area.They roped me in with the lobster roll but i stayed for the atmosphere. Its a brick and old wood cozy lodge feeling..couches and a warm fireplace.I posted up here for hours during my trip and felt very welcome. “This is a very spacious Coffee by Design. If you've been in Portland for a long time, you'll know that most of the coffee by designs have been small, cozy spots. This is more of a cozy large spacious one! Definitely not intimate in the main room but there is a separate seating area that I believe used to be for staff only which now they have opened up for customers. That's a nice spot if you prefer more quiet. Anyway, the coffee's always great as it is at every Coffee by Design. The customer service is always pretty good. They have lots of different types of seating , for example, you can sit at the bar where the baristas make their magic, or you can sit at a two top table, or you can sit and lounge at one of the tables that has leather cushion seats. They also have large glass windows into the roasting room (is that what it's called?) that can look through.It's my favorite coffee shop in Portland. And if you want to celebrate true Portland local business, go there.PS I am so so sad that I'm not able to bring my pup in with me anymore. They had so many options for both coffee and food so I asked the girl at the register and ended up getting a caramel latte which was really good. I also got an egg and cheese biscuit (couldn't wait till to take a bite before I took a photo) and 8 of they're famous Bennies. Probably the best decision I've ever made! “Okay, I was looking for a coffee place to kill some time at before an appointment in the area. This place came up in my search and boy am I glad I decided to stop here. First - it is super cute. With a mix of community tables, counter seating, and even one very cozy looking chair (I say looking because it was occupied and I was unable to plunk myself down and enjoy my book - which it was beckoning me to do). They have an extensive coffee menu and use their own roasted beans. I went with a standard coffee but did upgrade to maple syrup for my sweetener. (Anyone who knows me knows this alone won me over!) And, if you eat in - your coffee comes in a beautiful real mug! They have decent bakery case which is stocked with pastries from Two Fat Cats and bagels from Rose Foods! That's right - you can get a Rose Food bagel without the hassle of parking on Forest Ave in Portland. I got the Mystery Spice (old bay seasoning) and enjoyed half with Olive Cream Cheese and the other with Herbed. Clearly they make the cream cheeses here in house and they are delicious. The place seems pretty popular as there were many people here on a Thursday morning. Already planning a trip back here with a friend for a little remote work day!“

We had one beer each, but the bartender knew milliliters (which is odd and great at the same time). The Commodores LP was spinning and fullfilling Tuesday's eve experience. I am from Lithuania, so I did not liked the map with soviet union, even I understand this is a piece of history, but it should be hanging in restroom or somewhere in less respectful place. Being so close to Portland there is some stiff competition but I think this is worthy of the conversation of a spot to grab your coffee/tea/etc. without having to venture into downtown Portland. They have all the standards you expect but can do so many different flavor combinations and even offer a special drink of the month which I’m excited to see every month.
