“Anneke Jans Kittery is truly a gem . Its elegant cozy atmosphere is so inviting and each time we go there it is the best dining experience. The open hearth kitchen visible from the dining room is beautiful !The service is always impeccable and every staff member is so friendly . They have a more formal dining room , or you can also dine in the bar area which is equally as cozy.The food is amazing every time we go and they have great cocktails . The owners are wonderful also and you feel so welcomed all the time .We both got a fish dish which was so well seasoned and delicious . They also have amazing vegetarian option which we have tried many times .It’s our favorite place for Birthdays , Anniversary or any other reason . “This evening I stopped into Rudders and was met with the kindest soul, Hanna. I was a fish out of water and she kindly welcomed me. I got to talking with her and was soon a fast friend. I also got to meet Caitlin who despite working a full room had a great spirit. The service from these two, unmatched. Especially when you don’t know what you want they were so fun to chat with. If you are in kittery, I highly recommend and be sure to ask for Hanna or Caitlin!“

“The Puddle Dock was pretty much exactly as I expected, considering how much I had looked into it ahead of time. The entire reason for going was for the rarebit my boss had informed me of during a discussion about foods I had grown up with.The food was all incredible and was interesting to see the inside of the building since I had grown up going to Strawberry Bank as a child and getting pickles from a pickle barrel when it was a store. The post and beam structure still looks incredible and the layout of the bar is extremely well done. The atmosphere that is given was extremely laid back. The one thing that took away, for me, was a few of the wait staff that had come by have an arrogance when speaking to you that is a bit off putting. It is clear that it is not all of them but enough to discourage.I had an old fashioned, the rarebit which came with bits of duck, brussel sprouts and a fried egg on top as an appetizer and the Shepard's pie as a meal. The Shepard's pie came out with a crust making it look more like pot pie but added a wonderful texture to it. The flavor was incredible though be warned of how hot that dish is and how long it will need to cool. Definitely worth the visit and experience.“

Sat at the bar, our server Lindsey was present but not looming, helpful but not pushy and kinda funny. Cocktail menu seemed new w names like "almost summer" and a solid beer list. The menu is broad enough that there were MANY options for each of us, and the portions were average to large. Whoever said the portions were small needs to stop ordering off the kids menu. “From the minute you walk into The Franklin you feel the warmth of the space. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. We ate everything and it was flippin amazing - I took my sister and her husband here and his eyes lit up when he caught site of the selection of oysters! He still talks about The Franklin and makes me take him there every time they are in town.“

“Late Post: I always enjoy a unique and fun dinning experience and found this restaurant when I visited NH in early March. I tried a few unique dining experiences in the past and this was one of the memorable dinning experiences I had.Each meal is very creative and deliciously crafted.The dinning room (kitchen) with 6 guest seating. It’s truly fun watching the chef cooking. It feels more like you having a private chef in your house.First, when you come into the restaurant (but it doesn’t feel like a restaurant in a good way) you sit in “the living room”with other guests and enjoy a drink and appetizers, then, when the dinner is ready you finally walk into the chef’s kitchen.At the end of the course meal they provided each guest a giveaway bag. There were the tonight’s menu, honey and chocolate truffles in the bag. The chocolate truffles were amazing as well.I only wish chef had a little more time for interaction with us after dinner. He was already preparing meals for next guests while we were still sitting at the table.Overall, I highly recommend if you look for a unique and amazing dinning experience in NH.“

My wife was overwhelmed with how accommodating they were and the level of seriousness that they took her allergy. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it is for us to go out to eat "like normal families do" and for it to not be a STRICTLY vegan restaurant. My wife told me she was close to tears. I just wanted to thank the staff at this great restaurant for giving them this experience. My wife and daughter are in town for a tour of UNH and I am very happy to know she will have a safe place to hang with friends and get a bite to eat without worry. “We have been to the restaurant many times, but this was our first time at the hotel. We did a one night couples get away and could not have been happier. The rooms are lovely, clean, and have wonderful personal touches. The location can not be beat, sound of ocean waves all night. We were able to just walk downstairs and have an amazing meal! “Our second dinner proved as lovely as our first. We shared a cheese board equal to the price, loaded with various cheeses (one hard, one very soft and a bleu), pickled veggies, sweet, cruncy nuts and plenty of crostini. I enjoyed a stuffed (spinach), baked haddock, perfectly done while my husband relished his seared scallops, rice and bok choi. Given it was Valentine's Day, we shared the special flourless choclate cake--a bit overpriced, but good. I loved that I was able to try the two wines I was debating between (a Pino Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc) which allowed me, surprisingly, to chose the latter. The bar tender even made a perfect keoke coffee-- a recipe that seems to stump many! Bistro 1828 remains our 'go-to' for a special occasion--one of the few local seacoast restaurants whose food, service, atmosphere lives up to the its prices! (Our table was in front of a drafty door--the only reason for the 4 star--get a back or side table!)Parking: We lucked out on a cold night to sang a spot right next to the resturant, but there is also a bog lot across the street.“

MAYTAG BLUE, ROQUEFORT, DANISH BLUE, SWEDISH BLUE, WISCONSIN BLUE, CASHEL BLUE, FRENCH BLUES, ALL OF THEM. ENGLISH STILTON. Have any of my readers out there ever enjoyed MAYTAG BLUE? This particular blue cheese is like eating silk - the fabric. Creamy, non-salty, not dry. But soft and lovely. So, easy to use. Very expensive, but so worth it. MAYTAG BLUE is hard to come by in New England, but oh my gosh. So, the Blue Cheese that Fury's used on my burger was NOT Maytag Blue, however the Blue they used was delightful. My burger was cooked to order. Not dry and overdone or RAW! But, just perfect, this is hard to come by these days! And then, they added the blue cheese. oh my goodness. So wonderful. They serve alcohol as well.“

On this particular visit, we noticed how they hustled to keep everyone happy on Saint Patrick's Day. “We took my mother in law here for her 91st birthday and the wait staff and food were wonderful! We did not feel rushed in any way, and our food came out within a reasonable time and everyone enjoyed whatever dish they had ordered. “The staff is beyond caring. Drove up from NY. It had been awhile since I had seen my parents because I had broken both my elbows and ulnas and couldn’t move for many months. Took my mom and dad here for lunch per my mom’s request as she said it’s really her favorite. The staff quickly ran to clean off tables that people had just left. They were so understanding about my mom and dad’s walkers. They were incredible with all our different food requests and changes. Extremely patient with our complex order. They described the beer tastes and varieties for my partner. My mom is in the Cedar nursing home and she doesn’t get out much. So what they did next to make this special occasion even more special brought me to tears. My mom asked us for a popover with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. It wasn’t on the menu. They made it and brought it over to my mom. The joy on my mom’s face I will cherish forever. I can’t thank you all for creating such a special afternoon for our family. It meant the world. Big hugs!“

It can get a little loud when they’re busy (which is quite often during dinner time) but the atmosphere is perfectly moody and somewhat hipster feeling which we really enjoy. The steak tips were cooked exactly as ordered and tasted great, along with the mashed potatoes and chef’s vegetables (Brussels sprouts - not bitter, cooked well). Good serving size for the price, $22. The fish and chips were great too, with the fries being above average compared to most places around. Large portion size on the fish and chips - we asked for it to be split two ways and it arrived on two plates with individual portions and each plate was more than enough. Arrived on a Sunday afternoon so it was quiet, nice seating outside and prompt service.“

My side salad was chilled perfectly with a good portion of dressing. My only "little" complaint, the little square bowl it was packed into, resulted in a lot of the salad falling out onto the table no matter what I did. “A nice, relaxing restaurant environment inside a Sheraton hotel. A heads up... the menu on their official website did not match what's on their actual menu in the restaurant when we were there. My boyfriend and I had looked at the online menu prior to deciding what restaurant to go to in town and already decided what we wanted to try based off the menu information online. The server mentioned that the restaurant do not have most of the food items available from what was listed on their official website, but the menu on OpenTable was more accurate. However, I thought the choices from their in-house menu were still great options. Originally, my boyfriend ordered the diver scallops entree, but then was told a few minutes later that the kitchen was out of scallops. My boyfriend had to take more time to figure out what he wanted for an entree as he was slightly disappointed when his choices (from the online menu and scallops) were not available. Our server tried to be as accommodating as possible though by suggesting other seafood entrees that the kitchen can do that's not on the menu but had the ingredients. My boyfriend didn't want to deal with further complications so he ordered the fish and chips. The fish itself was a big portion. The batter was quite salty, but the fish was moist and cooked nicely. I had the mushroom gnocchi which had a great amount of mushrooms and spinach with the gnocchi. The gnocchi has a nice crisp on the outside with a pillowy softness inside. Flavorful dish! If you plan on going to this restaurant after seeing their menu options online, then be aware that it is possible the restaurant may not be offering the same options currently.“

Even at the end of our meal when 6 middle aged adults threw shrimp down at the family below us, causing quite a profanity laden scene on their part, management handled the situation beautifully and swiftly kicked them out after they finished ONE round of drinks and their shrimp appetizer that ended up on the sidewalk from them trying to throw food at cars?? Jimmy and his staff apologized for that tables behavior which was pathetic to say the least. “Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was phenomenal. We've been there many times and while we've had many good meals, this past week was a cut above. All meals were beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and delicious. AP many interesting and unique flavors. We went deep on the appetizers. The fried artichokes, and the wagyu meatballs were both a wonderful start, but it was the Tater tots took 1st prize on the apps. Dinner entries were great. Steak, salmon and fish special were all fabulous. And the pear cobbler was a perfect finish. We will be back sooner rather than later.“
