“I ordered two large trays of cookies for my granddaughters Graduation and 18th Birthday celebration. The cookies were so fresh and delicious!! The Italian cookies brought back so many childhood memories ❤️ I had guests come up to me just to tell me the cookies “were to die for”. We had about 100 guests and my only regret is I didn’t order more cookies. And Joni, the baker made two very special personalized cookies just for my granddaughter. ❤️❤️ Thank you Joni for the greatest cookies ❤️#firsttimecustomer.“

“I stopped in to grab some lunch and was very surprised with the many options. I ordered the curry chicken salad wrap and it was awesome! I couldn't leave without grabbing a few baked goods for the office. The 5 star cookie is REALLLY GOOD! it is such an interesting cookie.....with a gooey center. The caramel cheesecake was devine. I reluctantly shared this with my coworkers and I'm already planning my next visit to get more. Definitely my new favorite spot.“

“We drove up from Boston on a very rainy day in the early morning 0830 about 2 weeks ago and were seated immediately. We split our breakfast dishes between 3 of us. We tried the potato thing with the egg, the crab omelette and the oatmeal savory thing with the pork on top (im so sorry i dont remember the names). The oatmeal one was by far our favorite and very unexpected, sooo good. It was savory but not overpowering. The crab omelette was ok, very airy but wouldn’t drive all the way up for that. The french toast and the miso latte were also delicious. I really appreciate the thoughtful menu that was different from the regular breakfast you can find anywhere else but also extremely well executed. The creamsicle mimosa was also delicious. Our server was amazing, i wish i would have gotten her name. She was patient and gave great recommendations. She also packed us a little treat in the end for our ride back. I typically dont recommend restaurants but i would drive back up anytime just to eat here.“

“My exact words after my first bite were: “I didn’t know a donut could be like this”. We got a six box of the Maine maple flavor and I simply can’t stop thinking about it. The workers are so friendly and personable. The atmosphere is so cool and fresh. I can’t believe I waited so long to try this spot!!“

“Maps was hands down one of the best parts of our recent Portland trip. We happened to stumble in during bingo, which was super fun to participate in. The atmosphere inside was inviting, cozy, and relaxed and everyone was having a great time. The drinks and beers we had were stellar and the menu had more options than I anticipated. Next time we're in Portland, we'll be back.“

Gross Bakery Bakery • $$
172 Middle St, Portland

“We were in the mood for a very light dinner and some dessert, so we sought out Gross Confection Bar. It is underground and dimly lit with a super sexy vibe, but they happily welcomed us with our toddler. We got the two charcuterie boards to fill us up, and it was a solid idea. Lots of delicious meat and cheese to try. The desserts, clearly homemade, were delicious. I couldn't decide which one I liked more. They were both so inventive and the perfect portion so that we wouldn't feel gross afterwards. I adored the bean mousse on the semifredo! It's a unique bar and I would recommend stopping here after dinner for light bites. “Tandem is obviously great. My slight disappointment however is that this branch no longer offers pour over coffee of some of its more unique and interesting roasts. I was advised to head across town for that. I guess I understand why - it's packed and very busy. But it was still a shame.“

“So glad an amazing bread bakery opened one block from my apartment. My partner is celiac and there is absolutely no gluten inside the house. I have been known to make sweet&sour cabbage soup and then run down to the bakery to buy a fresh (and still warm) baguette to enjoy with it while I sit on the front stoop.Incredible croissants (all of them). The challah, focaccia, sourdough, and rye are great too. ( I just now realized how often I go).I used to make my own sourdough breads but obviously had to give them up when I fell in love with my partner. Barack said if that ever changed, he would get me some sourdough starter. Such a nice guy.“

“what a Gem, probably the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The staff were so friendly, the highlight was being walked through the pastries and cakes made by their insanely amazing and talented baker. I cannot express how good the pastries were, we ended up bringing a bunch back to Nova Scotia. would 10/10 recommend a visit here.“

“We ordered the whoopie pies for our wedding and they were amazing (and heart shaped!)! We had several guests who had celiac disease and several who had a gluten intolerance. B+B was perfect and I am so glad our GF guests had a cake option they could eat without worrying! It was absolutely delicious! All of our gluten free friends kept coming up to us to say how much they loved them! Thank you B+B!!“

“The best cakes around! I love that they offer size ranges from bite sized, to large cakes that can feed a crowd. Their seasonal flavors are always a hit, but classics such as funfetti, red velvet or plain vanilla never disappoint either. The service is always top-notch & sends you on your way with a smile on your face. The whole crew is fantastic!“

Coastal Creamery Ice Cream Shop •
136 Commercial St, Portland

“Beautiful and busy... just the way it should be!I thought that the line was surprisingly quick in its progression. Usually when I walk into a place and see half a dozen children pointing to a menu above their heads while surrendering to their overwhelming ADD... I turn around and come back later. In this case, I hardly made up my mind before the Coastal Creamery staff worked through each child's order. The smell of fresh baked cookies was hard to walk away from as well.My only knock on this ice cream shop is that for my personal preference the ice cream's texture was a little to "icey" and not enough "creamy". But the flavors were prevalent throughout and I think if you're looking for a good ice cream pitstop while on Commercial Street in Portland, your search needs to begin and end with Coastal Creamery!!“

“If you want bread or pasties baked but bakers who care, this is the bakery. They truly have artisan bread. If you are critical about their products, then you simply don't understand how hard it is to bake at this level and to have this quality. So ignore the negative and appreciate how hard it is to make bread this well by hand.I would say this is bakery, which is at the same level as La brea Bakery . It's worth stop.“
