“El Rayo has become one of my top choices for a satisfying and swift lunch! The fast-casual format, where you order at the counter and receive a table number, is convenient. Each visit has left me impressed, with the food arriving promptly and consistently delicious. Standout dishes include the carnitas quesadilla with chipotle mayo and the brunch menu's tatertots. Portions are generous, ensuring you'll leave satisfied!“
“In the realm of melancholy's embrace,Where sorrows dwell and shadows chase,A tale unfolds, both strange and true,Of Taco Bell and its spicy hue.Amidst the ache of a weary heart,Where solace fades and hope departs,There lies a haven, a humble abode,Where souls seek solace down this road.In dim-lit halls, whispers softly hum,A refuge found, where spirits succumb,To the sizzle and spice, a tantalizing spell,Woven in each taco that they serve so well. The tortillas embrace secrets untold,As taste buds awaken, memories unfold,Fiery salsa dances on tongues so numb,Awakening senses, where they once were dumb. For in the depths of a troubled mind,A sanctuary of flavors, one can find,As tears mingle with taco's divine embrace,A balm for the spirit, a comforting grace. The crunch of the shell, the savor within,A fleeting moment where joy begins,For as the spice ignites the weary soul,A respite from melancholy takes its toll. And in each bite, a moment's respite,From life's afflictions, shadows that blight,As tears mix with salsa, a sacrament to weep,Rekindling hope in the souls that sleep.Oh, Taco Bell, your power so rare,To mend the hearts with burdens to bear,In your flavors, a remedy is found,A symphony of healing, profound. So let the tears fall, like raindrops they'll flow,With each taco devoured, spirits will grow,And in the melancholy's enduring spell,Taco Bell's embrace, a story will tell. For within the depths of a longing heart,Where sorrows entwine, tearing apart,Taco Bell stands, a beacon so bright,Guiding lost souls toward the healing light.“
“Small, quaint place. Went on a Thursday night around 5pm. Very fast service. House margaritas were flavorful. Wish they were a little heavier on the tequila (but I understand). Smothered burritos aren't huge, but they make up for it in flavor; still had a small portion to take home. Server was very attentive and prompt. Not sure why this location keeps going through name changes but the food to me is good.“
“When I first walked by I didn’t think it was open. Kind of low key place. After I was well up the street I notice customers coming out. So I missed that opportunity, but I will check them out when I return to the area. The food does sound and look good.“
“Coming from SoCal, I was plesantly surprised to find quality authetic Mexican food in Maine. Service was fast and curteous. Attention to detail was impressive. Granted, it was a slow lunch hour, but as a customer it's nice to feel appreciated. I look forward to returning for a dinner experience.“
“We were a little skeptical of this restaurant when considering options, but were we ever glad we gave it a try. You can tell the owner and staff pour their heart and souls into what they do and it was absolutely awesome food. Some of the best mofongo I’ve ever had. Will definitely not be shy about giving them a try next time we are in town.“
“9/30/23 - Visiting from VA, we walked around and found this place. The dollar bills reminded me of Key west vibes. The bartender was super nice and great service. My fiancé got a margarita drink that was delicious. I tried the lobster roll and it was pretty good. Good amount of lobster and loved the bread that came with it. If I come back to visit I would definitely loved to stop by this place again and try some other food plus drinks.“
“Popped in for a quick lunch, loved the guacamole and rice and beans. My partner had the chicken tinga, it was wonderful! I had the El Paso, spicy abut a lively bite. The drink was a Rosita, it was ok but too sweet for me! Overall great spot! We will be back!“
“A group of 8 of us went. The service could have been better. They brought 4 little salsa's with 2 little things of chips. We had to ask for refills, chips to go with the table guacamole. The wait time seemed for long in between being checked on. Our meals were decent. Mexican ambiance is great.“
“Packed on a Tuesday evening during eclipse extended weekend 2024. Got a ton of food in about 5 minutes. Best fish (pescado) Taco I've ever had by a country mile. Best churro I've ever had too. Steak tacos great. Good drinks. Enchanting atmosphere. Great service.“
“Delicious! Really delicious food outside of San Diego. Freshly made and they do not skimp out of filling/ or meats either. I got a carna asada to share while hubby got a carna asada burrito. All entree comes with salsa and chips . Food made from natural ingredients and none are salty as most take out place tends to be. Yes a little pricey but if you want fresh ingredients , quality ingredients ( tender and meaty carna asada) and mall rent , the price is just.“
“I was not looking for tacos today, but tacos were looking for me! ? I did a very generic Google search for food near me, and tacos sounded like a good option. This place did not disappoint! I tried three of their regular street tacos with different fillings; carne asada, carne enchilada, and carnitas.Of the 3, I felt the enchilada had the best spice and flavor, the carnitas was tender, and the asada was just ok as far as flavor goes. This came with 2 salsas, green and red. The red was somewhere between medium and hot on the supermarket scale. The green definitely mild. Both were quite good.I would add that they are heavy with cilantro, which I'm fine with, but not all are. They also top the tacos with chopped radish, which was interesting.... Wasn't as "radishy" tasting as I expected. Maybe those would have been better pickled?Sour cream is an option, not included.Would definitely go back for more. I want to try their guacamole, tamales, and the pastore filling in something ?“
“Had an absolute blast at trivia on Tuesday! Bar feels like a cozy basement, equipped with Golden Tee and nice TVs. Staff was super friendly, attentive and had really great draught beer and cocktails served up. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE RANGOONS. Thank me later.“
“I've grown up in California and lived in Texas so Mexican food on the East coast has been disappointing at best. This place is good. Best I've had east of Texas. Service was fast and polite, place was clean, drinks were great. I had the extra spicy habanero marg. And it was a good balance of heat and. “
“I absolutely love this restaurant. Their food is delicious, decently priced, and reliably consistent. Very friendly staff. I was sad to see that the dining room was closed, but ordered many of my go-to meals to go. Visit this place for the real deal Food.“
“This is one of my favorite places. Definately favorite Hispanic oriented food in Maine. I love how the food isn't drenched in salt!! I order cheese quesadillas and chips with queso plus extra pico. The pico is always fresh. I wish they carried Shrimp quesadillas. Love me some shrimp.“
“Pretty amazing! I haven't had Hatch Pork Chile stew that good outside of Santa Fe! Burrito was right off the street side cafe in Oaxaca! Salsa was perfectly authentic! They have Queso Fundido!!!! Going back for mole and their Mexican parrillada!“
“We enjoyed our evening having dinner here. The staff were attentive and friendly. The location is nice with ample parking and the interior is welcoming. The food was terrific, with good size portions. We selected the fish tacos, fajitas and chicken wings on this visit. All were tasty! Thank you!“
“This place was amazing and they were playing Spanish club music so I was BOPPIN'. Their salsa was very good and unique, the burrito carne asada or whatever I got had really good steak and salsa verde, and the fajitas my partner got had way more tortillas than usual and the chicken was super tender.“
“Salsa - amazing! Great texture and flavor. Not 1/2 water. LolMain meal - ordered server recommendation from Honduran menu. AMAZING! Massive portion (probably would feed 4-6). Beautiful presentation. All the meat had incredible flavors, unique to the meat. Hard to pick my favorite. Plantains were the best Ive had.Highly recommend“
“First time dining tonight, and it was phenomenal. Plenty of chips on the table, server was excellent and fast, food came out in minutes from ordering! The atmosphere was clean and the staff was so kind. The chimichangas we ordered were perfectly crispy and they accommodated change of sides! They even make guacamole in front of you. I am so impressed and will be back.“
“We stopped in here to grab tacos and margaritas before the beer festival and the tacos were amazing! Absolutely delicious and filling. We both had beef tacos ? but our friends tried the shrimp and chicken and all of them were raving about how good they were. We also got margaritas ? they were great too. Good spot to order at the counter and sit outside for a bite.“
“My first time here and I ordered takeout (knowing mexican food is better eaten at the restaurant) Food was tasty and the portions were generous. Prices were reasonable and service was great. The restaurant doesn't feel as mexican as other places because it is in an old diner, but I kinda liked it. I will definitely return, I will eat there, and enjoy some cervezas...“
