“The food has been great here. The burgers and sandwiches were great, and the appetizers were as well. The service, for the most part, has been excellent. The only semi bad experience was one time we went in to order appetizers and dessert and felt like we were treated less than. It was very off-putting, but not enough to turn us away. “A very cute, locally owned company with delicious food at a great price. I found this place when my last job decided to grab takeout for lunch, and they happened to be one of the few places in town you can get a good mashed potato bowl. I've been going since, and I'm hooked on their fried pita wedges and parmesan ranch.Definitely one of the hidden gems of East Lansing!Vegetarian options: You can opt for no chicken on most of the menu. The potato bowls can come with corn, mushroom, and peppers! Some of their soups are also vegetarian.“

“OMG...This place brings you back to when the world used to be normal, people were happy, families connected over going out to eat, and things were affordable. An old old-school pull-up, order, car-hop type place. Comparable to Olympic Broil, but a little better. If Nip 'n Sip was smart they would play up on their uniqueness, rather than changing to become more like the garbage of the 2020s. Granted, the prices are trending higher, but still a great deal. The food is beyond DELICIOUS, portions are great. I've tried the olive burger, chili burger, chili cheese-o fries, fried mushrooms, and the Hammy Sammy. “Went with my wife for dinner and got there early for dinner I’d say around 5. There was only 2 other tables being used and we were sat in a tight 2 top right next to another couple, despite the restaurant being pretty wide open. Kinda weird but got over it and asked to move to another 2 top table and no problems there. Fried green tomatoes were delicious and served with a great chow chow and pimento cheese! My wife had the duck which was just ok, gamey and a bit over done for us. My scallops were fresh and came with a great sauce but were definitely over salted. The highlight for me was the smoke bird cocktail, a must have for mezcal fans! Service was a little slow considering it was again, pretty quiet. This is all pretty nit picky but after 2 drinks a piece, an appetizer and 2 entrees if I’m paying over $180 I don’t wanna have any issues like I mentioned above.“

Unfortunately tonight our waitress was very slow and when we got there asked for our drink order, she got my wife’s drink but then went and got 8 waters for two different tables then stood behind the bar chatting with another server for at least five minutes. Then finally brought me my beer. So understanding she was busy/slow at getting drinks I ordered appropriately. Our friends were leaving asked for their check we told her we were staying but brought us ours too. We paid it but told her we wanted two more waited 15-20 minutes she never came back so we left.“

“Such an adorable and bright space! Highly recommend getting "in line" online to avoid lengthy wait times but they seem to turn over tables pretty quickly. We opted for this place due to their reputation of having gluten free options. We were not disappointed as the GF offerings were extensive! I selected the GF pancake combo (not pictured as I inhaled the food prior to remembering) and the pancakes were huge, fluffy yet dense, with the perfect crispy edges! The combo came with two eggs and two meats, then we added a side of American fries to split. The American fries could have used a bit more seasoning so I added hot sauce and they were fine. Will definitely be back to try more of their gf breakfast menu and am looking forward to it!“

“Good food at good prices. Both of us had the omelet ($2 off on Tuesdays) and it was very good. The omelets are fluffy, not just the equivalent of flat top eggs. The waitperson was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, and efficient. Not fancy and not a fan of paying at the counter, but the payment part is their system. Overall a good place to eat.“

“Best Greek food I've ever had, and I've tried it at many Greek restaurants in many different States. They cook with Love, as do I and it warms my heart when I can actually go into a restaurant and leave, Happy and satisfied. This day and age, that doesn't happen very often. Prices are not that bad, considering how the economy is right now. So many other restaurants are not even trying anymore to give you quality food, this place is and it shows! “I have lived in the area for several years, and drive past Dagwoods almost daily but had never tried it until yesterday. Wonderful food at a great price with great staff. I am personally not much of a sports fan so I didn't get anything out of having the games on, but I know that the main crowd is people watching various athletic events. Not my scene, but if you expect to go into a sports bar on a friday night and not have a game on, you are going to the wrong place! Food was great. We ordered the quintessential bar meal: a burger and fries, which was just spectacular. Two people getting a delicious meal for $18 bucks is unheard of in this city, but it happened here! “We are from out of town and here for a tournament and needed a place that would hold about 20 people. They said they had a back room so we went. When we pulled up my heart sank a little. The place is not at all what we expected. I felt like it was moldy smelling when we walked in but someone we were with said it was probably the smell of the beer making process so i can't confirm or deny that information. Most of the teens did not love their pizza but the adults thought it was fine. The paninis were decent and the spinach artichoke dip was good. If we ever came back to this area i would basically just come for their house made beers and ciders. They were excellent. The mixed berry cider was not sweet at all and I really enjoyed it. Their homemade soda was great too. My kids mixed the cream soda and orange to make a creamsicle. That was delicious. Service was good and they checked up on us even though you order from a counter so that was nice.“

“I ordered the chicken tender family meal with red beans and rice and French fries. The food was good although the red beans and rice were salty. I usually don't have any issues with heavy seasoning, but this was just too salty to eat. But overall good for the price.“

“My server was Kevin. He was so attentive, and so kind. He genuinely was one of the best servers I have ever had there. The manager Andrea was phenomenal. My steak was over cooked but knowing how hard the cooks were working, I was not going to say anything. She noticed before even talking to me. She fixed it immediately and it was the best steak I’ve had in a long time. After bringing my steak back to me, she said “thank you for letting me fix this.” You can tell she is an amazing manager off that statement alone. “The Ave is a Lansing staple, hosting some of the best food in the city and an awesome environment. You can have many different kinds of night at the Ave. You can go there for a nice dinner, you can go there for a drink and a show, or you can go there and get absolutely ripped. All are 5 star experiences, and the people complaining about service at a punk bar like it's an Olive Garden are lame as hell.“

Took about 5 or 6 minutes total time from pulling in to the line to the time we got to the front and got our food.Fries were good, the double cheeseburger was good and had a nice char around the edge, and the mushrooms and chicken strips were also good, a lot of food for the price being lower.This isn't a fancy place, but the price and service is good, burger quality is what you'd expect.“

“I went here with a group of maybe 12 and they were great at accommodating a group of our size.The food was what you'd expect from a breakfast diner: a variety of savory egg based options and then the sweeter side with pancakes/waffles, french toast, etc. I shared two dishes with my partner: the Greek omelette and the stuffed cakes. We got the larger order of the cakes (3), and I was happy to have only half of the stuffed cakes because they are more like dessert for breakfast (oh so good with whipped cream and all). That said, it would have been a bit much for me even after I had been on a 5 day bike ride. The omelette was great and the coffee refills kept flowing consistently.Would definitely go back!“

“New place in town and it has a great ambience utilizing the old train carriage. The food was good but really depends on what you were ordering. My wife's breakfast taco was exceptional while my sandwich was mediocre at best. It was really busy when we went and that could be a reason. The drinks were good but wish that they had more beers available. Will try again in a few months to see if things have changed/improved. Would still recommend as the staff is really friendly and caring.“

“Bangos has been one of our favorite food trucks in the Lansing area for so long. We made sure to stop by The Brew Cafe every time they were there. When we heard they were looking to sell, we got really nervous that we might not be able to eat their food again, but are so happy that they are now inside Strange Matter Coffee! Now that the kitchen is open and running downtown, we had to run and grab some of those Nasty AF potatoes! Easily the best thing on the menu and maybe even our favorite food item of all time.“

“This is my "go to" place since Zeus closed down (it was closer). Been here about a half dozen times, and have always been happy. Good breakfast (I always get breakfast), inexpensive, and attentive wait staff. I'll be back next time I get a hankering for breakfast.“

“I've used Tony Ms for 2 funeral luncheons and they have been amazing to work with. Melanie is easy to communicate with and made planning a luncheon less stressful during an already stressful time. The wait staff was amazing as well, and even remembered us from the last time we were there.
