Restaurantji's Oak Park Mexican restaurant picks are here.
“Chanel was very friendly and it was GREAT to be able to put in an order at the squawk box rather than be forced to place an online order (that we've experienced many times at other locations). Definitely would come out of our way to visit this location!“
“Very safe place to eat somethingMexican. You may have your objections for saying that it doesn't taste the same, but for being very far from Mexico, it is very delicious to eat here. It is highly recommended even if you see some bad reviews.Great work “Mi Pueblo” success always.“
“Absolutely delighted to have discovered this local gem! My family and I had such a wonderful dining experience. The food was incredibly flavorful, and we enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend giving it a try, as it truly exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to returning soon!“
“Was in the area yesterday with a coworker and stopped in for my fruit salad and apples with tamarind (both spicy and sweet). Also order a small elote and a mango/pineapple Fresca. My cravings were satisfied!Line got busy after we arrived there and customer service was overall good.“
“Come on in and take a seat at the high top counter facing the street! I recommend the corner seat so you can get in some good people-watching outside and inside! Order the 2-egg breakfast with Texas toast and potatoes! You’ll want to splash some black pepper and hot sauce on your morning feast! Wash it down with a fresh-brewed cup of coffee and enjoy!! The staff are attentive and helpful and take the time to answer any questions you may have about their menu. I’m coming back to taste their chilaquiles !! ! Buen provecho!“
“Love they tacos! great customer service ' always fresh & hot . I literally can eat these tacos everyday if I could . Perfect for fall days and bring them home to eat with a movie . The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I love the fact it's family owned and everyone works together. Price does vary but with inflation totally understandable I hope and pray for there success and blessings“
“Food is out of this world. I ordered 6 steak tacos and was super impressed with the quality of the food. The guys behind the counter talk super quiet for it being an outdoor food truck and I had a hard time hearing him while placing my order. Outside of that it's a great place for a quick bite to eat.“
“We found this place on the humble and i have been going back ever since. I drive from Ypsi to eat here and they haven’t failed me yet. Tacos de Lengua con todo ? it’s amazing & prices are amazing. Anytime someone brings up the best tacos around I throw your hat in the ring. Please don’t change.“
“The food is amazing, from the quesadillas to the tacos and everything in between. I heartily recommend the fish or cajun shrimp tacos with the vegetable remoulade instead of salsa. No cilatro in them! They have an extensive vollection of taco and hot sauces. Everything is made fresh with quality ingredients. This place is a gem!“
“Understands celiac, vegetarian choices, even if you are not vegetarian, you MUST try the Seema tacoVegetarian options: Mushroom and Seema tacos are wonderfulDietary restrictions: Understands celiac, my wife hasn't been sick eating these amazing tacos“
“Best spot in Redford, for sure. We were kindly greeted by the owner and he carefully explained his menu. The burritos were excellent! I recommend getting some of his peppers on the side. You can tell it used to be an old dive bar, but it's really clean in there and it has a cool alien/space theme. It's nice to see an owner that loves his business and is passionate about the food that he makes.“
“After returning to Detroit from the vibrant streets of Mexico, where the sun always shines, I found solace in the comforting embrace of El Brazon. Tucked away amidst the gray and cold skies, this gem of a restaurant beckoned me with promises of authentic Mexican flavors.Navigating through the inconspicuous rear entrance from the parking lot, we found ourselves welcomed into a cozy interior. While reservations are advisable, we managed to secure a table for two without much delay. Although the decor leaned towards simplicity, it served as a stark contrast to the explosion of flavors awaiting us in the dishes.Opting for indoor seating over the covered outdoor area, we were promptly attended to by the bustling staff. Their efficiency ensured that our dining experience was not only swift but also filled with warmth and hospitality. We indulged in a shared salad followed by a traditional Mexican dish, both of which exceeded our expectations in terms of taste and authenticity.Remarkably, within a mere 45 minutes, we had savored every bite and found ourselves reluctantly bidding farewell to El Brazon. Its convenient parking and secure location offered a sense of ease, distinct from the hustle and bustle of downtown Detroit—a factor that drew us to this hidden culinary haven. In conclusion, for a taste of Mexico without leaving the comfort of Detroit, I wholeheartedly recommend El Brazon. From its delectable cuisine to its efficient service and cozy ambiance, it is a dining experience worth savoring time and time again.“
“Great place. We had asada and carnitas tacos, both were great! The spicy salsas (red and green) are very tasty and go very well with the tacos. Rice and beans are ok. The jamaica and tamarindo water are delicious. The only thing that can be improved are the chips (could use more salt) and the chips salsa, it is very bland. Service was great, all the staff was very friendly and the food came very fast. We will definitely go back“
“I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to try them out. The service was excellent, friendly staff. I love how they showed me the contents before handing to me. I appreciate Vegan sour cream and cheese choice (dairy isn't my friend). The chips were perfect, held up to all the toppings and weren't overly salty. Since it's a food truck, the ambiance is wherever you go lol. I enjoyed my food and will definitely be back.“
“The food was absolutely delicious! Service was ok, the restaurant was very clean. There are two parking lots to choose from. They do have a few vegetarian options but not a lot. I would definitely recommendVegetarian options: Only about two vegetarian options“
“4.5 stars! The enchiladas were great and the salsa was spicy enough.I believe the pozole is not the traditional one or it was from another region less popular, but I like the traditional flavor better. The place looks like taken straight out from Mexico and I loved the margaritas with tajin.“
“We had a group of 12 and were able to get a table relatively quickly. Our service started out great, but slowly declined. Once our food was served, we saw our waitress very sparingly. It took forever to get boxes and our bill, which was a little frustrating since we were going to a concert after. They serve margaritas by the pitcher which was great for our large group! One full liter served about 6.I had the flautas, they were delicious! The refried beans that were served with them were also fantastic. We had the queso dip for an appetizer and that was so rich and tasty. It was served with warm flour tortillas and chips, both were great. Their salsas had excellent flavor and a good kick to them! The chips could use salt, but they were nice and fresh. We would definitely visit again!“
“This is the best Mexican food I have found in MI! I am from Texas and love Mexican food! This is the closest I have found that is authentic. The pricing is fairly decent as well and the staff are nice! 10 out of 10 recommend! It is family friendly.“
“I'm doing a Detroit southwest Taco ? Truck ? review all summer as of right this is the best the atmosphere is like nothing other than unbelievable how Mexican Town is the Service was quick I was in and out in under 10 minutes the price was better than taco bell AND the food was oh so good ?? I will be going back 5 ?“
“I decided to try this place after seeing it listed on Instagram as a top 10 taco spot.I tried their pork Tacos, birria Tacos, chicken Tacos and chicken Nachos.I was most eager to try the birria Tacos and most disappointed to find they didn't come with the sauce/dip. I went back up to the counter to ask about it and was told they don't give it out with those tacos. He gave me some pork juice to dip my tacos in instead. The birria meat was quite dry. The pork juice/oil helped a bit to add flavor and juices. I wouldn't order them again. The chicken and pork Tacos were also just OK. Nothing special.I was most impressed by the nachos. It's a gigantic portion of food that could easily be shared by multiple people and the price was cheap at ten bucks. The customer service was lacking because there was quite a language barrier. Items were added to my order that I didn't order and the person taking my order wasn't able to answer most of my questions. I think it's important to speak Spanish or you are quite familiar with this food truck menu to fully enjoy this business. They have several locations, maybe I'll try the other locations to see if their tacos are top ten tier.Parking: The parking lot is quite congested because this location is in a Plaza that has a busy store and ice cream shop.“
“The asada torta is my go-to but from my understanding everything is delicious...This play is a low key gem ? if you love Mexican ? ? food...It's really ducked off and hard to spot if you're unfamiliar but once you spot it prepare yourself for some good eatsBig recommendation ??“
“Im not from this area, was here for work and a work friend suggested it. It's a really small place. Very nice people. The pierogi were good. I felt the potato pancakes were not really for me, but they were ok. That's all I tried. My friend likes the burrito. It was pretty big.“
“No words.BesidesEXCELLENT.Have a small select menu.Do several items with superb tastesTacos are generous street tacos sold inPairsOr4-packsThe, quesadillas are jam-packedThe Horchata is sold in plastic Togo bottles so you can "Shake it up"I've ordered carryouts&I have dined in2 four top tables10 bar chairs at a 17 foot counter( Marvin please switch to backless bar stools please)Open 6 days a weekClosed SundaysHuge carryout business too.Marvin and Arturo are great guys.Kitchen staff is fast and hard working.“
“Dined in with our family of 5, which includes 3 kids who are 11,9, and 7. Dinner was great. Food not only looked amazing but tasted the same. Service was as good as it gets. Really a great place to eat. The kids absolutely loved every bit of it. We will definitely be back.“
“My now fiancé almost said I love you for the first time while drunkingly eating take out from here! He very wisely waited until he was sober the next morning to officially say it, but I already knew. So if that doesn’t tell you something about the magic of our meal, I don’t know what does!“
“I have no pictures because we ate it all! We originally stopped to get my 3 year old something to eat but thought to sample it first lol it was amazing! Please do yourself a favor and come to them for FRESH and seasoned to perfection food. I loved how light the food was after you eat it doesn't leave you sleepy.“
“So it's an unusual place (grocery store/bar/restaurant) but sweet as F! We stopped in before visiting El Club and the bar was closed ? They opened it just for us to have a beer and a shot before our show ?? Thanks guys! I will be visiting again for tacos before the next El Club show!“
“Always the best & authentic. Have been coming here since i was in college at Wayne State. It was a classic then and still today. All the best things together: amazing tasting food that comes out quicker than you can even finish the chips and salsa, amazing sangaria and omg the cheese! Also tonight tried the cheese quesadilla with guacamole. More than on point. I drive over an hour to come here as much as i can. Love love love it!“
“This is my go to place for Mexican food in Birmingham. Next to Market Northend, smaller and also accessible when you have no reservations elsewhere. The servers are incredible, the drinks they come up with are always great - especially if you love Mezcal.I typically order the “Big Mac” Slider special, ceviche, or the Fajita Bowl. It’s like a chipotle bowl, but higher quality. The desserts are super delicious, you have to get them both.“
“Hands down the best tamales around. As a matter of fact: Every item in this Mexican restaurant is tasty and filling. You leave happy because it was good. If you get it to go, you are happy for what's about to go down when you get it home. These are the only 2 options. It's a win win with eve's tamales.“
“Had lunch here with a friend who has never been to Pancho Villa before. We were seated promptly and greeted by our server who did a phenomenal job taking care of us. Ordered the shredded Beef Flauta Dinner and my friend ordered the Chicken Chimichanga Dinner. Had so much food that we had to get a carry out. Food was delicious, service was great and will definitely go back to try the Flaming Fajitas.“
“I have driven by this place 1000 times without giving it a second thought until I decided to try it. I had their Carne Asada and it was absolutely delicious. It is now my new favorite place. Lessons learned don’t judge the book by the cover and go try it. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming.“
“Hidden gem in bham. We frequent a few very authentic Mexican places in Oakland county and wow this place really impressed my wife and I. Add it to the list of awesome authentic tacos and more.Stopped in for a quick bite during lunchtime and everything was on point. The quesadillas were some of the best we have ever had, the cheese was grilled on a griddle and they were packed full of meat. We tried the steak and steak/sausage. Added on a couple of amazing al pastor tacos.Overall the marinades for the meat really made this place stand out. Excellent tomatillo salsa along with pico. And the prices are very reasonable. Everything was super fresh. The restaurant was very clean.Certainly will be back when in the area. Give it a shot. The service was really quick too.“
“Nice little place for a quick meet and greet, a first date or friends getting together. The food was great (recommend the tacos),the drinks are nice (have the blue moon, with the cucumber lemonade follower to cleanse your pallet). The decor is wonderful and the staff was top notch.“
“This Is Located Inside A Gas Station It's Extremely Clean The Staff Are Nice I Love There Extra Over Packed Burrito's They Make It Right When U Order And They Put Literally Every Thing U Ask In Them Wow It's The Best And There Slushy's Are Good TooParking: It's A Gas Station Pull In Pay For Gas and Grab One Of The Biggest Burrito's LiterallyWheelchair accessibility: Yep“
“We used Regina’s food truck for our wedding and it was perfect! The booking process was easy and fast. They were very easy to communicate with. The food was delicious and had plenty of options for everyone including gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. Highly recommend for your next event!“
“Staff was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The space clean and organized, and the service was efficient. I ate there and ordered food to go. I had the birria tacos there, a 2 quesadillas for my coworkers and some wings. Wings weren't my favorite but i'll go back and try more from the menu.“
“We stopped to see a mural at the freeway exit. Only to eat at a taco truck. Our food was delicious and done perfectly. So glad the mural made us stop. The mural building was closed up. Older neighborhoods in area. We tipped the child who served us our food. A hard working family made our day. Nice shaded picnic area.Parking: Easy to park and move around the food truck.Kid-friendliness: Lots of room to roam for kids. Picnic tables. No restrooms.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access to food truck.“
“Wood fired mesquite grilled chicken southwest style! Pickled onion is a nice twist to replace the standard jalapeno. Great heat on the pickled onion, red sauce good and standard. Rice also good, beans are cowboy style good flavor. Nice change from the usual smashed refried at most other places. I got chicken but they offer meat options. Very authentic, with reasonable prices. Good service..“
“This place is really colorful, so it stands out. Im glad I was there when it wasnt busy, because their parking lot is really tiny. They have a variety of mexican ice cream and popsicle fruit bars. You'll find mexican candies, fresh cut up fruit cups, pickled pork skin, claw vending machines, etc. Do try this place out :) I'm definitely returning! Prices are nice too!“
“This is a must stop spot, great atmosphere, Staff friendly and professional, Food is fast and delicious as well as the prices you can’t beat the price of a good Taco, Nacho or Cuban Sandwich and if that’s not what your in the mood for you could always try one of there signature pizzas…The Spicey Mexican is one of my all time favorites…“
“I found this place on Doordash. I enjoyed it so I thought I would visit the restaurant and dine in. I enjoyed the food delivery and dine in. The service was great. There is plenty of free parking in the back. I would recommend this establishment if you are in the mood for Mexican food. ??Parking: In the back, there is a free parking lot.“
“À friend brought me here Wednesday and I'm back on Friday. I'm picky about my Mexican, meaning I like Mexican aka Mexican town Mexican, taquerias, eating in actual Mexico. The pastor torta is fantastic, good chips and salsa,The meat is actually marinated and flavorful, not some dried out texmex meat with spices sprinkled on.“
“The people serving the food were very nice and warming ‼️ My food tasted amazing ! I was kinda scared at first because I tried some birria tacos elsewhere and they weren’t good but when I tried them here they were AWSOME ! Also the food is cook once you order so it’s HOT and FRESH ! I most definitely will be back some time this week ‼️“
“Food was good. The hot hot sauce is ?. I ordered chicken and received beef. Server fixed it right away. The drinks I thought tasted watery. Being early lunch It could have been tidy up a little from the night before. They should also supply clean aprons for the servers. Price was on point and the rice with lime and cilantro, beans and guacamole were all very good.“
“Las Cazuelas in Detroit is a spot I often find myself heading to when the craving for authentic Mexican food hits. The shrimp tacos there are something special, and if you're into flavors that pack a punch, the cazuela tacos are a must-try. The steak is another highlight, always cooked just right, and the hot salsa brings the perfect level of heat to the table. The atmosphere of the place adds so much to the dining experience. The staff is incredibly welcoming, making you feel at home right from the moment you step in. They're quick to serve, but they never make you feel rushed, which is great. It's the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your meal without any pressure.I do have to admit, though, I miss how handy the Melvindale location was. It was the perfect spot for a quick and tasty lunch break from the factory. It was sad to see it go. But, thankfully, the Detroit location is keeping the legacy alive, serving up those familiar, delicious flavors and crunchy tacos. And when you're there, don't skip on their burrito bowl or taco salad; they're just as amazing. The place may be bustling, but it's always worth the visit for the delicious food and the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of the Cazuelas family.“
“Came in for the first time for lunch today. The space is great, lots of TVs and bar space (it'll be a great place to watch football this fall). The food was fantastic, huge portions and reasonable prices. Service was great too, got seated quick and it can't of taken more than 10 mins for the food to come out. I'll definitely be back!“
“I have only eaten from the trailer, but it’s better BBQ ribs than some of the so called BBQ places. The staff is friendly always and very efficient with the buzzer for when your order is ready. The price is in line with most for the quality you receive. When I’m lazy and want it right now it’s my go to spot! They have cured my fears of non traditional indoor dining from an outdoor spot. Keep up the good job!Parking: Look for the red building and the aroma of grilled food.“
“Let me explain, the man there took on 3 different responsibilities and executed them perfectly without error! He was absolutely amazing! The food was good, seasoned well. The consume was the best I’ve had in a long time. But the star of the show was hands down the gentleman taking on the role of 3 different people. Absolutely amazing!“
“Have lived in Oak Park for a year and finally tried the place everyone talks about! Delicious, great portions, homemade, lucky to have this in the neighborhood! Their refried beans are vegetarian which is perfect and hard to find. Will be back!“
