“Man, to say I love what this place does would be an understatement food is always amazing and the staff is very dedicated to what they do❤️Parking: Just pull right up to the door and walk inKid-friendliness: The atmosphere is very colorful and there is always uptempo music playingWheelchair accessibility: You can roll right in as long as someone holds the door?“
“Honestly I don't understand why people are hating on this place so much. The food has always been hot, service is polite, and everything I have gotten so far has been pretty tasty. It can be a bit slow but I'd rather have it be slow and good rather than fast and garbage. All the workers I saw were wearing their masks. This spot is always a pleasant treat for my brother and I.“
“With a relatively small menu, this establishment eliminates the potential concern of not knowing what to select. I was actually able to order a whole bunch of dishes under their dinner menu, which was great because I got to try a little bit of everything, but it also showed how much their portion was relatively small for the price, which would be a minus, at least for the entrées.Out of all the dishes I have tried, I will strongly recommend the beets, the piquillo peppers, the brick chicken, and the two desserts: Arroz con Leche and Tarta de Queso. The beets conquered the controversial earthy flavor by incorporating whipped feta, serrano peppers, and red wine vinaigrette. The piquillo peppers, by using goat cheese along with the peppers, achieved a new pleasant flavor profile. The brick chicken was both crunchy and juicy with the duck fat pan sauce, with the only caveat being that $29 for just half a chicken with no sides on the plate was a bit too much. And for the desserts, I don't have any additional comments other than that they had both flavor and texture. The cheeseburger was good in terms of quantity and price and definitely could serve as a solid option for many, but it wasn't something that one can't find elsewhere. Everything else I would say is solid as well, just not spectacular, but I still would recommend them to whoever is craving for, for example, fish or pasta or cheese.I know that this establishment has more items on the brunch menu and it seems like its brunch dishes may be some of the highlights, so I would love to return for brunch one day!“
“Went on a Wednesday night with my daughter, pleasantly surprised, larger than it seems, food was amazing, server's very knowledgeable and friendly, very tasteful decor. Loved personal touch by chef bringing our food to the table too.My daughter and I enjoyed making more memories together with great authentic food, and friendly people.Dessert and margaritas were pretty great too.?“
“Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl(Tofu, red bell peppers, straw mushrooms, potatoes, romaine lettuce, seasoned rice and zing sauce)I was not a fan of coconut curry flavors until visiting Vellee a few days ago. I called an audible and ordered the Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl. Before we walked in the door, I just knew I was going to order the Korean BBQ bowl. I am delighted I was wrong. The chef perfectly dialed the spice level (#2) to my hopefulness, partnering it well with the zing sauce. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a zing sauce, but it was persuasive enough to make me change my mind about curries. The creamy coconut sauce covered the fresh ingredients with comforting casualness. The sauce to rice ratio was good – as was the sweet to heat ratio. My favorite surprise ingredient was the potato! It felt like it belonged all along. I left Vellee very satisfied, wanting nothing more or less. The vibe was as energetic as the boom box display on the far wall. I intend to go back again in attempt to get the Korean BBQ bowl.“
“Been driving by this place since it opened. Finally gave it a shot. Got a steak burrito and FANTASTIC! Tortilla was soft and chewy, steak was tender and taystee with no hidden grissel. Overall outstanding. Will be a repeat customer FOR SURE!“
“I absolutely love Pura Lima. I was such a Chipotle girl (though, a frustrated one) until I found it, and will never go back! The ingredients at Pura Lima taste so much better and fresher than anywhere else. The staff are kind, efficient, accurate, etc. It is by far my favorite place for lunch! I've wanted to try dinner and their margs, but haven't had the chance - I had their mango limeade though, and it was amazing; Limey with a super fresh/real mango flavor. 10/10 recommend“
“We tried this place for the first time tonight and were impressed! We tried asada burritos, chips and queso, and elote. The food was delicious and there was lots of it! The owners were so friendly, kind, and accommodating. We will definitely be back!“
“Excellent food!! I am crazy about this place. I tell everyone to try it instead of the more well-known Mexican place next door. I've tried the burritos, tacos and tostadas and every ingredient has always been super fresh. The burritos are huge and I love how they grill the outside well so the tortilla is crisp.“
“One of my favorite places to get a burrito. I’ve had a veggie burrito here (and at their location in Crystal) probably… 30-40 times? I get horchata occasionally, too. So tasty. Such consistent quality of food and service. Super reasonably priced. ?“
“I have to admit I love setting up "quests" for myself. Best apple pie. Best gin. My newest quest is looking for the best birria tacos in the Twin Cities. Birria tacos are filled with slow coated meat cooked with spices and served in crispy corn tortillas. They originated in Michoacan in Mexico, and they are delicious! That is how we ended up at Nico's. Last weekend I picked up a batch take-out. Last night we ate at the restaurant. We arrived early and sat at the bar so we could talk about tequila and mezcal with the bartenders. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and I ask a lot of questions. I opted for the flight of repasado tequila. The shots were served in this amazingly cool wooden box decorated with a skull design. They were all good, and generally I don't like tequila! It turns out that the various types of tequila ( white, repasado, anejo) are incredibly different. My husband was ordering a cocktail, and the bartender recommended a different one, with Mexican whiskey and a corn liqueur, and my husband really liked it.Our friends arrived, and we sat at our table. We got their house made chips with a flight of salsas...I loved the roasted corn one but all were good. Of course I ordered the birria tacos - you get three complete with consume and radishes, onions, etc. These really are delicious. They are made with lamb, and it was tender and juicy. My husband and our friends got a mix of tacos. I liked the pescado and pescado asado tacos, but they needed a bit more salt and a bit more topping. The mushroom one was interesting, but rather bland. The single tacos range from $4-5, so it is very affordable. I also had their horchata, which was a very nice version of this classic rice and cinnamon drink. It was not overly sweet, which was very nice! All in all it was a lovely meal. I will absolutely go back for those birria tacos. The service could not have been better. They were attentive, kept the water glasses filled, and in every way made us feel taken care of. I recommend this place a lot.“
“I had the yucca frita, which was really good. I want to come back again and try their mojarra frita and their quesabirrias. Their interior has been remodeled and is very nice, with pretty paintings on the walls. I didn't take a picture today, but the interior photos that show up on Google Maps appear to be “
“I wanted to try this place since I drove past their "We have tamales" sign about a month ago. I popped in last weekend and ended up ordering enchiladas instead (which were made to order as I waited). There are 3-4 high-top tables for eating in if you prefer. While I waited, I took a look around. This place is also a small market and would benefit from being more neat, tidy, and more visually appealing. Things are stuffed into and on top of every surface in the store. That said, I'm not sure if these two places are under the same, or separate, owners. So? Back to the food! :-)My enchiladas (which came with a side of rice and black beans) were delicious! I went back today to try their Oaxacan chicken tamales and was equally pleased - I'll be back to try their tacos next!“
“-small tacos, kind of loud inside but fun atmosphere, great but somewhat inaccurate service (order got messed up), and delicious cocktails!I had a delicious chipotle camarones taco and pastor taco (both quite small like smaller than a usual taco). My friends said the steak taco was not very good (not super flavorful). The Paloma was delicious and served in a cool tiki cup but a little small. The burritos were giant and good. Be careful because the hot salsa is very spicy according to my friends. Parking can be a headache (some street parking after 6pm or 3 small spots reserved for Nico’s off street). Guac was decent but very onion forward and quite expensive for a group“
“I love the ambiance at this place. It's great for both date nights and/or group fine dining experience. My favorite is their Salsa sampler/flight. Food and drinks are a bit on the pricey side but I'd say it's pretty worth it. Great service too.“
“My hubby and I have been looking for a great quality Mexican restaurant ever since Monterrey closed years ago. Nothing has lived up to our expectations… Well, I think we have finally found a winner! Excellent food, service and margaritas. Highly recommend!“
“Food was definitely fire and came the moment we walked in the door ! & the atmosphere was astonishing beautiful. I highly recommend this place as a wonderful date morning, evening or night. My new #1 Taco Joint. I got the Mangonada & Quesabirra Tacos.“
“Food was really good, it was like eating something homemade. Their medium salsa was so good. Very friendly and good customer service. I will be back! They also have a rewards program!Parking: It's in a little strip mall so easy ti find parking.“
“We went here for lunch after a morning Doctor appointment. We were able to order contactless, And our burrito and tamale's were ready within fifteen minutes. For two full meals it was $23. Very affordable And delicious!! I highly recommend their burrito with the red sauce. Also, their tamales are out of this world, And they're only $2 dollars and some change a piece. So worth it!“
“Just got some lunch here with my girls. Small little location but left a big impact. The food was delicious. We got a torta de asada with everything, un esquite, and some chilaquiles. My 2 little girls got their chocolate cake, which was also delicious. The service was great. The cashier was polite, kind of quiet, but still very professional. I must say that it's very bold to put a small location between some big known eateries, but in life, the risk is worth the reward. Keep serving up your delicious meals. A definite MUST TRY.“
“There is nothing better than good food with great company. Tromperia El Zac is located off Rice St. There is quite a good amount of parking behind the building, but it may be difficult for those with mobility issues. Our family stopped in and snagged a variety of delicious items. Al pastor tacos are a must try! We also tried the quessbirra tacos, carnitas burrito, and tinga tostada. Food was made fresh, and service was quick. Prices are a bit steep but absolutely worth every penny. We will be placing this on our must have again rotations.“
“Oh my gosh! This is absolutely my favorite Taco place. I ordered the Quesabirria and it was to die for! The quality was high and the price was reasonable. The juice to dip it in was delicious as well.Service was quick, and there was no wait to order. Plenty of seating and it certainly looks like an authentic Mexican restaurant - good food with mediocre decor. I will absolutely be back! Weekly?! We’ll see!“
“Highly recommend this hidden gem for a great deal on the BEST tacos al pastor in Minneapolis. Nachos al pastor is a particularly generous portion (I had already eaten half of it in the photo) and perfect to share. Chips are made fresh in house. Sit and enjoy your meal at the counter, then get back to your day. It's worth the trip.“
“First, Mexican Sunday Brunch Buffet... 10-3Second, a very nice tavern is in back with a full bar and table service, you might miss it because the street entrance is the taco walk-up for short order with excellent meats and options.Third, El Plato Maya big ests with 3 mix-and-match tacos, tamales, y/o tostadas with beans and rice, with a beer and tip runs less than $20.Fourth, salsa bar. Yum. Pink Cebolla en remolacha (pickled onion) is the spicy funky than takes your taco up a notch.Fifth, authentic flair and feeling.Anyway, this site is their best site and you should take your date there. I wonder if you can order a whole huachinango (red snapper) or mojarra frita.Friday nights, you can get a sopa de mariscos (seafood chowder) that will fix what ails you.Dietary restrictions: The counter service is mix-and-match so you can customize anything you might want. Plenty of options and the salsa bar is fantastic. There are vegetarian tamales and other vegetarian options. As always, black beans are vegetarian and pinto bean refritos probably have animal fat.“
“Given the exorbitant restaurant prices in this post inflationary late stage capitalistic hellscape we're living in, I was somewhat surprised that Lagos tacos didn't price gouge. Their menu prices seem to be about on par with what they should be. We got the half size nachos for 13 bucks and they were still pretty huge.“
“Ordered takeout online directly through their website, not a third party. The food was really good overall, but our order wasn’t made as we requested nor as the menu said it would be.The online price for food is about 20% more than in-store according to their menu on their wall when we picked it up. And there is also a service charge. Hard to say if we will be back.“
“The place doesn't look much from the front, but the atmosphere is actually quite nice once you walk down the hallway (passing the glass wall behind the bar) and into the main restaurant. On warmer days, the patio looks like it would be an excellent place to hang out. The main part of their menu looked like a build-it-yourself type of thing. Pick tacos, burrito, quesadilla, etc. Then you can pick your protein, style, and sauce. I ended up choosing a Burrito Bowl with Carnitas Street Style. The food tasted great. It was obviously made with fresh ingredients. I was surprised later when I looked at the menu again and saw that it cost me an extra dollar to get the Burrito Bowl, thus saving them the tortilla. I wish the waiter would have mentioned the up charge, although I probably would have gotten the bowl anyway. As I do at most Mexican restaurants -- well, all restaurants -- I got an unsweetened iced tea. Much to my surprise, they charge for tea by the glass. No refills. Again, mentioning this when ordering would have been helpful. Personally, I have trouble paying $4 for iced tea in my at Starbucks... but at least I get free refills. Here, the glasses were much smaller, and again, no refills. At least the tea here tasted good. They checked me out tableside using ApplePay, which was nice. I didn't get an itemized bill. And I'm not quite sure if they tacked on a gratuity or not. Unlike normal, they didn't turn the POS terminal around and ask me to enter a tip amount. Bottom line... not sure if I will go back or not. The food was good. So was the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced. What may keep me away is that each tiny glass of ice tea (tiny, by my standards) is $4.“
“We had to make some last minute changes and reach out to El Jefe to see if they could assist us with our grooms dinner. Everyone was amazing through the whole process and very accommodating. The food was incredible and served fast. Even with the 100 degree weather Miguel made sure we had a great time. Thank you El Jefe!“
“Wow...what an IMPRESSIVE dining experience! It's been a long time since we have enjoyed a night out so much. Food 'Molcajete Mexicano' was packed full of flavor and Jorge (bar tender) who waited on us was EXCEPTIONALLY kind; made us feel more like family vs patrons. And the margarita 'Texas Jumbo' was super delish! All of the staff we encountered were incredibly gracious and prompt to respond to any request. We will be back! Bravo El Loro!“
“I have driven past this place dozens of times in the last several years - today I finally stopped - it did NOT disappoint! Food was excellent. I had a shrimp bowl and the hubs had a chimi. So fresh and legit. Skip chipotle and check this place out. So yummy!“
“The food was great!! The service and atmosphere were great! We had the chimichanga & tacito combo and a supremo burrito; everything was super tasty!! We also had the Texas Margarita - amazing! Our new favorite margarita!! We're excited to try other dishes - we'll definitely be back!“
“We came to El Aguila for a late dinner, hungry and looking forward to settling down for a good meal. The restaurant was empty, quiet and calm. We were seated quickly, and served complimentary crispy chips and spicy salsa while we looked over the menu. The menu was pretty extensive, with many options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The prices were quite high, around $15-$20 per item, definitely a bit much but we decided to give it a chance. We ordered a burrito and a combo that had papusas and tamales, a good amount of food to share. The food came quickly and was hot, delicious, and well-presented.We left happy with our order, though feeling like it may have been a bit overpriced. We hope to come again some time and try breakfast perhaps. ?“
“Very clean place. Great for vegetarian tacos/burritos, as you go down the line and tell them what ingredients you'd like included. Cucumber drink is delicious, and they have horchata and jamaica as well. Very affordable for what you get.Vegetarian options: You can get veg tacos or burritos and your choice of any and all ingredients.Parking: They have half the lot for parking.Wheelchair accessibility: No problems there.“
“It was great. This is my 3rd time, and It has become my lucky spot. They take care of me and my food allergies and they have super good burgers and burritos. The people working there are great and the service was super quick.More of this fav. place soon.“
“Very happy with the food here. It is very well priced, left feeling very full for only $16!! I had the chicarron pupusa and birria tacos, both of which were very flavorful. However, the pupusa was the star of the show and next time I come back I am definitely going to try more pupusas. It is similar to an arepa!“
“Calling all tequila connoisseurs! Not enough vegetarian options--I think just one taco option as of today's date--but it's still a very good place. Tastes authentic. Cozy but city vibes. Bartender was good company. Tequila is also great to look at and taste.“
“Went to try the birria tacos. Our group decided to share a few items for more variety. Had never had pupusas, we tried three flavors. Birria tacos were amazing. Pupusa were also very good, liked adding the slaw and sauce for more depth. The flautas were huge servings. Beans were the best I’ve had in the cities. Tasted just like my friends moms beans from Mexico. Ended the evening with the churro which were also incredible. Fresh with a hot sweet center. Great prices, very clean and inviting sit down restaurant and couldn’t beat the service. Beautiful back drop for photos at the front. Can’t wait to come back.“
“Love going to their food truck on the corner of Lyndale and 36th. They are fantastic street tacos and taste just like the ones we've enjoyed in Los Angeles. Affordable too with all the fixings. Easily some of the best tacos we've had in the Twin Cities.“
“Our favorite dishes are the chicken (pollo) street tacos and carne asada (beef) street tacos. We usually get 3-5 per person. The meat is always seasoned so well, you can taste the love and care that goes into it.I could also subsist entirely on the green and red salsa- it’s so good!5 stars for atmosphere because this lil place it’s a Taqueria and it is EXACTLY what it advertises to be.When we moved from Phoenix we were worried we would lose our access to street tacos - but Valerie’s fills that void in our hearts and stomachs!“
“Google Maps had me turned around a couple of times, but I am so glad I persevered.I am Twin Cities based. For reference, on business, I eat hundreds of meals in restaurants, in scores of cities around the world each year.I was craving Mexican and picked this quite randomly by Google review alone, late on a Sunday afternoon.I had second thoughts when I pulled up, nobody was there. But I persevered again on review alone. My Torta ( al pastor ) was absolutely perfect. The sauces that accompanied were on a different level of fresh and balanced flavor dynamic.I just wanted some Mexican.I didn't dream I would be thrilled.I sit here and look at the empty plate and contemplate.Should I tell everyone or keep this one to myself?I am beyond puzzled as to why I could be the only one here with food this great.I am only telling you for selfish reasons.I want to see them THRIVE even if I have to stand in line next time. This is absolutely as good as it gets at this price point.Homemade. From scratch. The family business vibe makes me realize the great value.Do yourself a favor!!!“
“Today was my first time visiting this restaurant for their Taco Tuesday special. I decided to try the carnitas and al pastor tacos, and oh, how I regret not ordering more! Alongside the tacos, I also got some chips, which were quite delicious. Overall, the food was really tasty, and the deals on Tuesday are fantastic. Can't wait to go back!“
“Sadly overlooked and sorely underrated. Best place in MPLS for tacos and nachos. I can’t say for sure how “authentic” it is but that makes no difference to me. The food is solid. Nachos are fantastic. All the tacos are good. I feel the market is flooded with tasteless Mexican food but this place is an exception. The service is kinda odd though. Everyone is very friendly but there seems to be no service plan or guidance or control or system (for lack of better terms). I always stand around looking aimless waiting to be seated. And if you need a beverage refill it’s gonna be a while. However, because of the nachos they could punch me in the face every time I walked in the door and I’d keep coming back.“
“This place looks like your typical Latin American restaurant, but it's secretly better!First of all, the staff are incredible! This is likely because it's a family-owned and operated restaurant rather than a chain. For example, one time they accidentally made too many margaritas, so we got some free drinks without even asking!Secondly, the menu here is more diverse than your typical Latin American restaurant. For example, this is the first time I've had a whole grilled Tilapia (the Mojarra Frita) since I was in Guatemala, and it was fantastic! The dish may look intimidating/unsightly to the average American, but trust me, it's delicious!Third, the prices are reasonable. The only "downside" is that the restaurant ambiance/atmosphere is just average, which really isn't that big of a downside.Parking: Large, free parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking available.“
“Service is always fantastic and the bartenders take great care of us each time we visit! Food always comes out within minutes, the fastest I’ve ever experienced!Dietary restrictions: Services always accommodate my gluten and dairy allergy!“
“Stopped in on Sunday after many recommendations from friends. Got the chicken taco on corn and the best pork on flour. Both were amazing! Service was awesome and food came out fast. Definitely recommend and will be back to try more of the menu.“
“The other day I had an issue with my DoorDash delivery of my food. Long story short….Alex the Manager at the Roseville LaCasita, went above and beyond!! And I do mean above and beyond!! He was personable, happy, genuinely wanted to help and he did resolve the issue; with a great attitude!! A lot of times now a days, it’s hard to even get some employees anywhere to say hi to you or even smile. Let alone to even want to work!! Alex is definitely the exception. La Casita, you have the best employee ever and with his work ethic, you are very lucky to have him! Please acknowledge him. I think it’s time for a raise Alex!?. Thank you sooo much!Pam“
“THE BEST vegan Mexican food in Minnesota! Some of my favorites are their white bean cilantro soup, black bean & vegan cheese pupusas, and the mango margaritas. The staff are so friendly and the service is always amazing. Very reasonable prices for high-quality food and drinks. You can't go wrong here!!!“
“The burrito weighed in at about 200 lbs, definitely a good deal at the price. The quesadilla was excellent and a bargain also. Everyone working here is cheerful and helpful, and it is just as fast as taco bell, for real food at a good price.“
“Probably won’t be my new essential go to taco place, but I can easily see myself coming back in the future, and trying more items on the menu. The Taco Combo was a good value, with three street style tacos and multiple meat selections. Although the chicken tacos were a bit dry the rice and beans were flavorful and the meal all together was well balanced. Located within the convenience store this location is great for a quick pick up, but also has four tables available if you would like to take a seat.“
“Been to this place several times and it has never disappointed when I'm craving Latin cuisine. The service is spectacular and give great suggestions if you want to try somewhere new. Can be a bit loud at night and unfortunately for our server and my kiddos it was a bit embarrassing to have some fifty year olds talking like sailors yelling orders at the poor server. We gave her a big tip and she said it made her night. She apologized for those guests. Was not her fault at all as she did a wonderful job. Ambiance is pretty much like every other bar and Latin restaurant. The chips and salsa are ok as the salsa is not my favorite, but that is the only thing that is mediocre. It's also complementary so can you really complain lol? My go to is the carnitas which is so full of flavor and absolutely delicious. This time I went with on a suggestion by our server the Sopes. They let me pic a couple different meats to top it too. I went with the Al pastor and birria shredded beef. Absolutely lovely and the pineapple in the Al pastor was so fresh. Amazing! My wife got the ceviche and said the flavor was good and her only complaint was that the shrimp was over cooked. So a bit of a downer their and not raw fish like most. So ok but not their best. My mother in law got camarones your way with the spicy sauce. This if you like spice it was a home run. Delicious flavor and large quantities of everything. Very good. My son got the carne asada burrito and it was huge. He loved it. His only complaint (he could live off beans) was that there was not enough beans. He said it would also be better if they were black beans instead of refried. My little 8 year old food critic lol. No joke of you are looking for good quality Latin food that is reasonably priced this is a great place to go. Never been disappointed.“
