“This wonderful little neighborhood Mexican restaurant is a gem! Melt in your mouth carnitas with just a little char. Enchiladas with density and green sauce was excellent. Their guacamole was tops. Margaritas were 2 for 1s when we went and were great. My portion size was huge and a good value. Lunch tomorrow! I’ll be back again and again. Lucky to have you in Spring Lake Park!“
“My hubby and I have been looking for a great quality Mexican restaurant ever since Monterrey closed years ago. Nothing has lived up to our expectations… Well, I think we have finally found a winner! Excellent food, service and margaritas. Highly recommend!“
“The prices here are very good and they have a good variety of options available (including ground beef tacos which most taco trucks don't have). The 3 meats I tried (steak, chorizo and ground beef) all tasted good but in my opinion, there are better options available nearby in the taste department. The super hot sauce (pictured) is amazing though. I love spicy food and this really made the tacos taste great. If the meat was better, it would have been perfect!I got 5 tacos and 2 Mexican Cokes for $21 so pretty cheap compared to other places.“
“Went to try the birria tacos. Our group decided to share a few items for more variety. Had never had pupusas, we tried three flavors. Birria tacos were amazing. Pupusa were also very good, liked adding the slaw and sauce for more depth. The flautas were huge servings. Beans were the best I’ve had in the cities. Tasted just like my friends moms beans from Mexico. Ended the evening with the churro which were also incredible. Fresh with a hot sweet center. Great prices, very clean and inviting sit down restaurant and couldn’t beat the service. Beautiful back drop for photos at the front. Can’t wait to come back.“
“I never order corn tortillas. I have always been a flour tortilla kind of guy. Corn tortillas tend to fall apart while taking bites of your tasty taco. I will never eat corn tortillas, unless they’re from Nixta. They offer the best tortillas I have ever had! Amazing texture, taste, and most important, strength. We got their takeout box for NYE and everything was amazing! The chipotle salsa needs to be bottled. When I ordered, the site said it served 2-4. They weren’t lying. We had tacos on NYE and NYD. 1000000% recommend.“
“Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl(Tofu, red bell peppers, straw mushrooms, potatoes, romaine lettuce, seasoned rice and zing sauce)I was not a fan of coconut curry flavors until visiting Vellee a few days ago. I called an audible and ordered the Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl. Before we walked in the door, I just knew I was going to order the Korean BBQ bowl. I am delighted I was wrong. The chef perfectly dialed the spice level (#2) to my hopefulness, partnering it well with the zing sauce. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a zing sauce, but it was persuasive enough to make me change my mind about curries. The creamy coconut sauce covered the fresh ingredients with comforting casualness. The sauce to rice ratio was good – as was the sweet to heat ratio. My favorite surprise ingredient was the potato! It felt like it belonged all along. I left Vellee very satisfied, wanting nothing more or less. The vibe was as energetic as the boom box display on the far wall. I intend to go back again in attempt to get the Korean BBQ bowl.“
“I have lived in this area for a long time and seen countless restaurants try and fail to make this building work and it for a while was generally regarded to be a cursed location.I moved away 3 years ago but was diving by and noticed it wasn't the old BBQ place (which was half decent). Stopped in and picked up some tamales to go (pollo verde and birria). They had some ready right by the door so it was easy in/out. Reheated great and really hit the spot.I think I'll be going out of my way to come back here.“
“I absolutely love Pura Lima. I was such a Chipotle girl (though, a frustrated one) until I found it, and will never go back! The ingredients at Pura Lima taste so much better and fresher than anywhere else. The staff are kind, efficient, accurate, etc. It is by far my favorite place for lunch! I've wanted to try dinner and their margs, but haven't had the chance - I had their mango limeade though, and it was amazing; Limey with a super fresh/real mango flavor. 10/10 recommend“
“I love the ambiance at this place. It's great for both date nights and/or group fine dining experience. My favorite is their Salsa sampler/flight. Food and drinks are a bit on the pricey side but I'd say it's pretty worth it. Great service too.“
“I'm a fierce and loyal Mexican foodie. I'll drive or walk thousands of miles for an excellent taco, burrito, etc. ENTER el taco riendo. Recommended by one of the workers at a thrift store daughter and I shopped at. Off we go! Wow! First, it's literally a hole in the wall and man, I'm feeling lucky! Always, always the best places! We order and of course, over order. The guacamole is chunky with tomatoes, garlic and cilantro-the avocado flavor is perfectly balanced! Smooth taste with the obvious homemade chips! SWOON! My tostado is Mexican style with onions, cilantro and Carne. The meat is uber tender and falls apart in my mouth as it melds with the corn tortilla and other ingredients. The taco? ☺️ WOW. the best one I had was at a beach shack on cozumel. This is 2nd. Again, Mexican style. The onions don't overpower the rest and never leaves a hot taste. THE SALSA? 2 kinds. The red one is a soft burn (like LA Estrella) but stays foe your next bite. The green is mild and feel your tongue do a happy dance! My Modelo Especial was icy cold-PERFECT! Daughters tamale was soft, doughy and so flavorful with the chicken it was insane (at least she shared unlike hubby). This place may look shabby but it's very clean. The service is quick and food is inexpensive. We ordered a boatload of food and it was a total of 30.00!!!! If you're a Mexican food snob, this place will NOT disappoint!“
“I have to admit I love setting up "quests" for myself. Best apple pie. Best gin. My newest quest is looking for the best birria tacos in the Twin Cities. Birria tacos are filled with slow coated meat cooked with spices and served in crispy corn tortillas. They originated in Michoacan in Mexico, and they are delicious! That is how we ended up at Nico's. Last weekend I picked up a batch take-out. Last night we ate at the restaurant. We arrived early and sat at the bar so we could talk about tequila and mezcal with the bartenders. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and I ask a lot of questions. I opted for the flight of repasado tequila. The shots were served in this amazingly cool wooden box decorated with a skull design. They were all good, and generally I don't like tequila! It turns out that the various types of tequila ( white, repasado, anejo) are incredibly different. My husband was ordering a cocktail, and the bartender recommended a different one, with Mexican whiskey and a corn liqueur, and my husband really liked it.Our friends arrived, and we sat at our table. We got their house made chips with a flight of salsas...I loved the roasted corn one but all were good. Of course I ordered the birria tacos - you get three complete with consume and radishes, onions, etc. These really are delicious. They are made with lamb, and it was tender and juicy. My husband and our friends got a mix of tacos. I liked the pescado and pescado asado tacos, but they needed a bit more salt and a bit more topping. The mushroom one was interesting, but rather bland. The single tacos range from $4-5, so it is very affordable. I also had their horchata, which was a very nice version of this classic rice and cinnamon drink. It was not overly sweet, which was very nice! All in all it was a lovely meal. I will absolutely go back for those birria tacos. The service could not have been better. They were attentive, kept the water glasses filled, and in every way made us feel taken care of. I recommend this place a lot.“
“Excellent food!! I am crazy about this place. I tell everyone to try it instead of the more well-known Mexican place next door. I've tried the burritos, tacos and tostadas and every ingredient has always been super fresh. The burritos are huge and I love how they grill the outside well so the tortilla is crisp.“
“Maya never disappoints. I can take anyone there for a meal and they always leave happy. My 5 year old daughter still remembered the buffet (from when she was 3!) and was elated to return this week. Thanks for being such a great neighborhood spot. We've been regular customers since the beginning and we're so glad you're here ☺️“
“Food was really good, it was like eating something homemade. Their medium salsa was so good. Very friendly and good customer service. I will be back! They also have a rewards program!Parking: It's in a little strip mall so easy ti find parking.“
“Fantastic fast casual Mexican restaurant which is owned by a small business owner. No, I don’t know the owner or have an affiliation or interest in the company so my review is unbiased.I took my family time this restaurant based on a recommendation by a friend. The food is reasonably priced and is made to order. The ingredients taste fresh and the tacos, burrito bowl, and quesadilla tastes great. Not overly seasoned, but full of fresh flavor. If you have room for dessert, make sure you order the churros! I had to order two and we finished it all. Very tasty.Kid-friendliness: There is a kid-friendly menu, but my 7-year old and 11-year old eat a lot so we just ordered from the adult menu.“
“Oh my gosh! This is absolutely my favorite Taco place. I ordered the Quesabirria and it was to die for! The quality was high and the price was reasonable. The juice to dip it in was delicious as well.Service was quick, and there was no wait to order. Plenty of seating and it certainly looks like an authentic Mexican restaurant - good food with mediocre decor. I will absolutely be back! Weekly?! We’ll see!“
“There is nothing better than good food with great company. Tromperia El Zac is located off Rice St. There is quite a good amount of parking behind the building, but it may be difficult for those with mobility issues. Our family stopped in and snagged a variety of delicious items. Al pastor tacos are a must try! We also tried the quessbirra tacos, carnitas burrito, and tinga tostada. Food was made fresh, and service was quick. Prices are a bit steep but absolutely worth every penny. We will be placing this on our must have again rotations.“
“The place doesn't look much from the front, but the atmosphere is actually quite nice once you walk down the hallway (passing the glass wall behind the bar) and into the main restaurant. On warmer days, the patio looks like it would be an excellent place to hang out. The main part of their menu looked like a build-it-yourself type of thing. Pick tacos, burrito, quesadilla, etc. Then you can pick your protein, style, and sauce. I ended up choosing a Burrito Bowl with Carnitas Street Style. The food tasted great. It was obviously made with fresh ingredients. I was surprised later when I looked at the menu again and saw that it cost me an extra dollar to get the Burrito Bowl, thus saving them the tortilla. I wish the waiter would have mentioned the up charge, although I probably would have gotten the bowl anyway. As I do at most Mexican restaurants -- well, all restaurants -- I got an unsweetened iced tea. Much to my surprise, they charge for tea by the glass. No refills. Again, mentioning this when ordering would have been helpful. Personally, I have trouble paying $4 for iced tea in my at Starbucks... but at least I get free refills. Here, the glasses were much smaller, and again, no refills. At least the tea here tasted good. They checked me out tableside using ApplePay, which was nice. I didn't get an itemized bill. And I'm not quite sure if they tacked on a gratuity or not. Unlike normal, they didn't turn the POS terminal around and ask me to enter a tip amount. Bottom line... not sure if I will go back or not. The food was good. So was the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced. What may keep me away is that each tiny glass of ice tea (tiny, by my standards) is $4.“
“Wow...what an IMPRESSIVE dining experience! It's been a long time since we have enjoyed a night out so much. Food 'Molcajete Mexicano' was packed full of flavor and Jorge (bar tender) who waited on us was EXCEPTIONALLY kind; made us feel more like family vs patrons. And the margarita 'Texas Jumbo' was super delish! All of the staff we encountered were incredibly gracious and prompt to respond to any request. We will be back! Bravo El Loro!“
“I'm under the impression that this place has only been open for a few weeks when we went to visit, I was blown away at how fast our food came out. It was under 10 minutes after we ordered, we had our food and drinks. The list of margarita flavors seemed never ending along and nice and strong. It's very relaxed, the music is good, and we could hear the kitchen staff chatting like they were brothers. It's a solid spot and we will be visiting again.“
“Calling all tequila connoisseurs! Not enough vegetarian options--I think just one taco option as of today's date--but it's still a very good place. Tastes authentic. Cozy but city vibes. Bartender was good company. Tequila is also great to look at and taste.“
“We came to El Aguila for a late dinner, hungry and looking forward to settling down for a good meal. The restaurant was empty, quiet and calm. We were seated quickly, and served complimentary crispy chips and spicy salsa while we looked over the menu. The menu was pretty extensive, with many options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The prices were quite high, around $15-$20 per item, definitely a bit much but we decided to give it a chance. We ordered a burrito and a combo that had papusas and tamales, a good amount of food to share. The food came quickly and was hot, delicious, and well-presented.We left happy with our order, though feeling like it may have been a bit overpriced. We hope to come again some time and try breakfast perhaps. ?“
“So glad I found this place -good food, reasonable prices, large serving sizes. The chips are not overly greasy or salty rather they are just right.Dietary restrictions: I am trying to watch my salt intake and I felt everything I ate fit into that restriction.“
“Everything we ordered is AMAZING! Food came out hot and fresh. half shells Oysters and the oysters shots were fresh and DELICIOUS! The shrimp Carm.. Diablo is flavorful. My husband had their chicken quesadilla and he said it’s probably the best quesadilla he’s ever had. Haven’t had Mexican food this good in a really really long time. Probably the best I had in Mn. Definitely going to come back and try out other items.“
“The other day I had an issue with my DoorDash delivery of my food. Long story short….Alex the Manager at the Roseville LaCasita, went above and beyond!! And I do mean above and beyond!! He was personable, happy, genuinely wanted to help and he did resolve the issue; with a great attitude!! A lot of times now a days, it’s hard to even get some employees anywhere to say hi to you or even smile. Let alone to even want to work!! Alex is definitely the exception. La Casita, you have the best employee ever and with his work ethic, you are very lucky to have him! Please acknowledge him. I think it’s time for a raise Alex!?. Thank you sooo much!Pam“
“This place looks like your typical Latin American restaurant, but it's secretly better!First of all, the staff are incredible! This is likely because it's a family-owned and operated restaurant rather than a chain. For example, one time they accidentally made too many margaritas, so we got some free drinks without even asking!Secondly, the menu here is more diverse than your typical Latin American restaurant. For example, this is the first time I've had a whole grilled Tilapia (the Mojarra Frita) since I was in Guatemala, and it was fantastic! The dish may look intimidating/unsightly to the average American, but trust me, it's delicious!Third, the prices are reasonable. The only "downside" is that the restaurant ambiance/atmosphere is just average, which really isn't that big of a downside.Parking: Large, free parking lot.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking available.“
“Service is always fantastic and the bartenders take great care of us each time we visit! Food always comes out within minutes, the fastest I’ve ever experienced!Dietary restrictions: Services always accommodate my gluten and dairy allergy!“
“Met up with friends for a quick dinner and drinks. Everything was delicious. The service was great. We were served by Carlos. He’s very friendly and energetic. You can tell he cares about what he does. We will definitely be coming back for our girls’ nights.“
“This place went over looked by me for years and for that shame on me! It feels like it's in an odd place for a restaurant, but the food and service definitely make up for it! The service is always prompt and super friendly and your food comes out in a very timely manner always tasting amazing! We've done take out and delivery with this place as well, because sometimes you just need that home-cooked Mexican meal but you don't want to go out in the cold!“
“Sadly overlooked and sorely underrated. Best place in MPLS for tacos and nachos. I can’t say for sure how “authentic” it is but that makes no difference to me. The food is solid. Nachos are fantastic. All the tacos are good. I feel the market is flooded with tasteless Mexican food but this place is an exception. The service is kinda odd though. Everyone is very friendly but there seems to be no service plan or guidance or control or system (for lack of better terms). I always stand around looking aimless waiting to be seated. And if you need a beverage refill it’s gonna be a while. However, because of the nachos they could punch me in the face every time I walked in the door and I’d keep coming back.“
“We found this place while waiting for my kid to be done with basketball practice. It is a simple, small restaurant. The food was amazing. Great menu items. Great service. The one thing I love is the toritills are handmade. The taste and flavor. So good. We been to many Mexican restaurants and this is one of my favorite so far. The authenticity of the food and flavors is wonderful.“
“Excelente atención agradable ambiente... Comida muy buena ...la comida peruana muy buena...la chicha sour excelente...mención especial al Cheff Peruano Raúl Jacobi...preservando los auténticos sabores peruanos... 100 % recomendado...no se arrepentirán...y la Anfitriona y dueña le Restaurant Monica1,000 puntos a su personalidad y atención personalizada...“
“We have been hearing about this place and finally went. Oh my oh my. The birria tacos were delicious! My 15 year old daughter ordered those and didn’t want the leftover consume to go to waste. Had to have a container to go! The tasty birria burrito did not disappoint. Everything was wonderful…even the top shelf margarita. We look forward to visiting again and again.“
“Amazing food. The best Fried fish, rice beans with salad ?. Enchiladas are delicious and fajitas are just so watering. The place is so clean and best people work here. Very polite and friendly customer service.Parking: Nice clean lot on both sides of the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Yes!They have a kids menu.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.Outdoor seating in the summer and separate restaurants bar and family restaurant.“
“This food truck has great food and conveniently located off 42nd Street. There always busy, you can pre-order and pickup as well. Ambiance 4/5 Food truck is conveniently located outside right off 42nd. It's right next to a liquor store if your so inclined to grab drinks and food to go! I always felt safe, never any sketchy business happening. Outside of the traffic, it's a pretty quiet area even in the Summer. Food 5/5 Have lots of options. I ordered the melons, Elotes, drink, and rice and beans. Cost 5/5 Altogether I paid about $15 Service 5/5 Always friendly and helpful when providing a drink carrier. I was informed they take preorders which was nice to know! Overall 5/5 great place if your in the area and on the go!“
“Google Maps had me turned around a couple of times, but I am so glad I persevered.I am Twin Cities based. For reference, on business, I eat hundreds of meals in restaurants, in scores of cities around the world each year.I was craving Mexican and picked this quite randomly by Google review alone, late on a Sunday afternoon.I had second thoughts when I pulled up, nobody was there. But I persevered again on review alone. My Torta ( al pastor ) was absolutely perfect. The sauces that accompanied were on a different level of fresh and balanced flavor dynamic.I just wanted some Mexican.I didn't dream I would be thrilled.I sit here and look at the empty plate and contemplate.Should I tell everyone or keep this one to myself?I am beyond puzzled as to why I could be the only one here with food this great.I am only telling you for selfish reasons.I want to see them THRIVE even if I have to stand in line next time. This is absolutely as good as it gets at this price point.Homemade. From scratch. The family business vibe makes me realize the great value.Do yourself a favor!!!“
“This taco truck has delicious food! The tacos, burritos, elote, quesadillas and rice and beans are all so yummy! I'm sure everything on the menu is great! I usually call ahead and pick up our food. The staff is always so nice and friendly! I wish I lived closer!“
“I made an impulse stop at the Central Ave location when I was running errands in the area a few months ago. Everything is so good...the ingredients are fresh, and the service is always super fast. I've been back several more times and am always impressed.“
“Great food. Appeared to be made fresh and with high quality ingredients.Staff was by no means rude, but didn't go out of their way to earn any extra points. Atmosphere was fine, nothing special.Overall a very positive experience. Will definitely be back again.“
“We had breakfast here and thought it was good, but could have been a little better. My wife really liked her chilaquiles, but thought it could have used some eggs, more chicken (she had to search to find it) and maybe a few chips on the side so there could be more crunch. I had the mushroom cemitas sandwich and really enjoyed it. There was a good heat to the sandwich and it was very filling. I also had the spicy hot chocolate which was very rich and tasty. The service could have been a little better as we saw our order get finished and had to ask the server if we were supposed to pick it up ourselves after five minutes of waiting, and then he brought it to us.“
“My coworkers and I pop in here when we meet up for drinks after work. The food is solid and the drinks are always good. It's kinda hidden where it is right now, but with the buildings that are popping up around it it should get more traction. They have a patio for the summer and a clean space to eat and drink inside.“
“Stopped at ALL TACO truck for dinner... Fast and delicious! We had burrito bowls and lengua (tongue) tacos. Everything was hot, fresh, and beautiful. Tomatillo salsa and roasted chile pepper were great compliments to the tacos. I recommend ALL TACO and will stop again if we see the truck.“
“Pretty good food! Most items on the menu were the same standard selections you see at every Mexican restaurant. I asked for suggestions and they recommended the burrito or chicken torta. I went for the torta and wasn't disappointed. Tasty and fairly filling. Service was quick and staff was friendly. The building is an interesting layout. The bathrooms are down the hall in the basement and there is an attached grocery store with a very limited selection of items. Like just the essentials and some candy. Prices are reasonable too.“
“Don Julio’s is our absolute favorite Mexican restaurant! They have awesome complimentary chips and salsa. The Texas margarita is absolutely delicious. We always get the chimichangas because they are AMAZING. They come smothered in queso, which is quite honestly the best queso I’ve ever had! The service is always great and very speedy.“
“Been to this place several times and it has never disappointed when I'm craving Latin cuisine. The service is spectacular and give great suggestions if you want to try somewhere new. Can be a bit loud at night and unfortunately for our server and my kiddos it was a bit embarrassing to have some fifty year olds talking like sailors yelling orders at the poor server. We gave her a big tip and she said it made her night. She apologized for those guests. Was not her fault at all as she did a wonderful job. Ambiance is pretty much like every other bar and Latin restaurant. The chips and salsa are ok as the salsa is not my favorite, but that is the only thing that is mediocre. It's also complementary so can you really complain lol? My go to is the carnitas which is so full of flavor and absolutely delicious. This time I went with on a suggestion by our server the Sopes. They let me pic a couple different meats to top it too. I went with the Al pastor and birria shredded beef. Absolutely lovely and the pineapple in the Al pastor was so fresh. Amazing! My wife got the ceviche and said the flavor was good and her only complaint was that the shrimp was over cooked. So a bit of a downer their and not raw fish like most. So ok but not their best. My mother in law got camarones your way with the spicy sauce. This if you like spice it was a home run. Delicious flavor and large quantities of everything. Very good. My son got the carne asada burrito and it was huge. He loved it. His only complaint (he could live off beans) was that there was not enough beans. He said it would also be better if they were black beans instead of refried. My little 8 year old food critic lol. No joke of you are looking for good quality Latin food that is reasonably priced this is a great place to go. Never been disappointed.“
“I love this family and I love this food truck! The Mexican steak tacos are my favorite.Realistically, though everything that I order off of this truck is fresh and delicious. If you want authentic Mexican food they have it. If you want a hamburger and fries they have it. I ordered the nachos today and will order them again. The sauces are my favorite and if they ever bottle the sauce I will buy it!“
“Our new favorite authentic place to eat. The lengua is the best I've had anywhere. The Torta Cubana is absolutely fantastic. They serve menudo every day! It's a huge menu, everything is made to order you can't go wrong. Vicki is amazing. My wife and her became fast friends and then all of a sudden we she invited us to her moms birthday Fiesta! Love this place!“
“I decided to get late night drinks and food on a weekday. The bartender gave me options when I asked for a margarita on the rocks (I got spicy guava). He also told me about the verde chicken Centro crunch when I placed my food order.Music was great. Service was phenomenal. Food and drinks were delicious!“
“Excellent experience and walked in and sat down very friendly and fast service food was soo delicious and the atmosphere was awesome..will be back with family and friends soon..another note outback steak house across the street sucks..don't go “
“We tried this place for the first time tonight and were impressed! We tried asada burritos, chips and queso, and elote. The food was delicious and there was lots of it! The owners were so friendly, kind, and accommodating. We will definitely be back!“
