“Local Duluthian. This used to be a family favorite spot, it felt like a "Special" place to go. We rarely come here in recent years. The last few times its clear how run down this spot is becoming - you have such a great location, beautiful view of lake superior, tourist hot spot ... but its sad how run down its becoming, carpets, worn down booths. . . . Leaving this review to try encourage owners to put a little pride back into this restaurant and do Duluth Proud.“

“Blackwoods catered my son’s wedding yesterday. Overall we would recommend them, but there were a few glitches. The tablecloths we picked up from them the day before the wedding were the wrong size and, despite being sealed in plastic, there were quite a few set in stains. I phoned and left a message about the issue, and no one bothered to return my call. Not a promising start. On the day of the wedding, the staff arrived on time, and everything was set up and ready to go as planned. For the most part the food was good, but the ham was awful. It was tough and the pieces were cut into huge chunks, many of which were full of fat and gristle. We had people who normally love ham refusing to eat it. Since it was one of the main dishes, the ham was a huge disappointment, especially for the money paid. The turkey, however, was moist and tasty. The staff members were helpful and professional. They willingly boxed up leftovers for the wedding couple, which was much appreciated, and they left the church kitchen clean.“

“It's Bent Paddle, what's more to say? They are a MUST see if you consider yourself a fan of all things beer and you should see it anyway even if you aren't.The brewery offers tours and you can commonly see the interior of the brewery from the taproom anyway. The beer itself is amazingly well crafted and is the reason I got into craft beer in the first place.The outdoor space is top notch and parking is easy to find it you're willing to walk a block or two.“

“This is my favorite Texas Roadhouse to visit. The staff are amazing. The managers are friendly and they are so helpful with my allergies. I’ve never gotten sick there, which is saying something because I get sick almost every place I eat out. They are so helpful with answering my questions. If they don’t know the answer right away, they help me figure it out. I can’t recommend them enough. The service was quick and the food was perfect.“

The wait staff here are very experienced and efficient. It can get very busy during peak hours. Only accept cash but have a cash machine there.“

“My spouse and I visited Sunday morning when traveling home from Duluth, MN. No wait, warm atmosphere, excellent service, great prices, and exceptional food. We were road weary after weekend of traveling and were so grateful to have stumbled onto this gem! We will be back EVERY TIME we are traveling in the area.“

“A lovely pub with an ambience of an old railway station . It has a lovely homely vibe, helps relax. They have live band and it’s a cherry on the top. The seasonal beers are awesome , food is good, could be better. Service is great. Our server took great care of us, and helped us choose a good beer options and we ended up carrying few crowlers.“

“Well executed beers, in an urban loft vibe, with friendly service and decent prices for downtown Duluth. I personally don’t like all the dogs. I counted 5 while there including a poorly trained St. Bernard. Parking is also a bit of chore. However, if you staying downtown and like beer, this is a must stop.They do a great job with their fresh hazy IPA’s!“

“Love this place! The food was wonderful. We started off with the Tempura Fried Cauliflower. I loved the aioli sauce, and the whole dish was very tasty. We both ordered the Coconut Curry Rice Bowl with Chicken and it was sublime. I practically licked the bowl it was so good! We ordered a bottle of cabernet, which was decent but not great. Of course, after the first glass, it tasted just fine. :) For dessert we shared a very dense and very delicious piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream. So good! Definitely a place to come back to!Vegetarian options: Probably 75% of the menu appeared to be vegetarian or vegan. But everything we tried was delicious.Dietary restrictions: There were a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, also dishes that were gluten free.Parking: It's in downtown Duluth so parking can be iffy depending on when you go.“

“Absolutely an amazing gyro! Very well seasoned meat, sauce is great, even the pita bread a great! Super messy IN A DELICIOUS WAY. Definitely a little gem. I will 100% get more next time I come through hermantown.“

“It must be a night "off". I ordered a small lasagna with an extra slice of garlic bread. Upon opening, the lasagna was deconstructed. the sauce was amazing but chunky! The meal was luke warm and tasted microwaved. I'll try again because the sauce is so good. *Sidenote* I was told 5 p.m. so the driver who came back from delivery took my name. The young woman was so friendly when she came out! Unless it had been sitting 15 minutes, it shouldn't have been luke warm with hard cheese. I recommend a second try but not sure when. There are many places with hot, fresh lasagna.“

“This sandwich shop was adorable! You order at the counter & then they have SO much seating and bring your food to you! They have ADA accessible seating and seating upstairs! The sandwhich was a typical sandwich but supporting a local business is always great :) Would definitely recommend!“

“While our food was good, we were a party of 8 and apparently they are unable to seat a party of 8 all at one table, though no one told us that when we checked in. Would've been nice to know.“

“Delightful! Tables were busy so i sat at their bar - which I wanted to do anyway. Best red-eye coffee I've ever had. Chorizo biscuits and gravy with over-easy eggs was insanely good. Looked like a ton of food but went down surprisingly light! Something about the cherry tomatoes and basil hidden in the dish added a perfect aromatic, herbal, complementary essence. I'll be thinking about that dish for a while!Highly recommend - probably need reservations if you need a table!“

After trying a couple other restaurants in the area i can say without a doubt that no one comes close.On a side note, i don't even like fried rice normally but theirs is FANTASTIC.Update: Went in again recently, tried the Omakase (pictured) - it was so amazing! Highly recommended if you enjoy different sushi fishes, mine came with the "Sweet and Saucy" Chef roll, which I'd never tried before and was fantastic! I really enjoyed the spicy tuna roll too (in the picture the two spicy tuna rolls have the seaweed salad on top)Parking: You are parking along the hills of Duluth going up/down, so just know to expect what comes with that“

“The food here was amazing. It came quick. My friends kid had an accident and threw up on the table. Our server, Wyatt, was very kind and understanding. He brought a mop and rags, cleaned, sanatized. He told us it happens more than you think and it was absolutely no problem. Thank you for the food and for being so kind.“

“The restaurant is in an old gas station. Not much remodeling was done to make it a restaurant. Other then that the food is fine. Not a lot of parking, parking lot is weird and awkward with some semblance of the old gas pump bays. It's right in the middle of town making it popular for the older crowd that loves coffee and breakfast.“

“My husband and I were at the Canal Park location for brunch today for the first time and will be back as the staff was easily able to adjust for my personal tastes ( I HATE eggs) as well as service being timely. The only complaint I have is that my iced tea tasted like coffee, what I like to call “cofftea”. Whomever is in charge of brewing the tea should not be running the hot water through the coffee maker as the oils from the coffee end up in the tea making the tea taste bad.“

“We visited Grandma's while in town on business. We needed a place within walking distance from our hotel, and this place came with high recommendations. We were seated right away (on a Monday for dinner), and our waiter was very friendly. My hubby ordered the Wild Rice-Cranberry Meat Loaf, and I had the Wild Steak N Blue Bowl. Both were delicious! I would recommend it!“

“We have been to the Boat Club several times and have never been disappointed. The view of Lake Superior is awesome, the service is wonderful and the food is always delicious! Our order came out quickly, hot and fresh. It's different than usual restaurant food, unusual combinations that pair well together and taste great! There is an ample drink list to choose from, starters if you want, and if there's room, dessert! We get ours to go! It's always a great experience and we plan on going back soon! We don't mind paying a higher price for great food and service!“

“House special pizza was really tasty. The spaghetti Bolognese was ok. There was no meat in the Bolognese sauce, it was served with meatballs instead. Serving was generous and the meatballs were delicious. We did take out and the Caesar salad was missing from the spaghetti Bolognese. Was not happy about that.“

Real vegan entrees not just an impossible burger but well thought out entrees with great flavors and "meat" alternatives. Ask for the vegan menu. “Best specialty dessert I ever had. Can't remember the name it was a "special" it's not on the regular menu but it should be! It was a moist, sweet, delicious cake with fresh cream and berries. Oh my goodness could have been in a fancy French bakery it was the BEST! The food wasn't too shabby either! A little spendy yet well worth it for a special occasion! This is a very special place with great servers and awesome chefs!“
