“Blackwoods catered my son’s wedding yesterday. Overall we would recommend them, but there were a few glitches. The tablecloths we picked up from them the day before the wedding were the wrong size and, despite being sealed in plastic, there were quite a few set in stains. I phoned and left a message about the issue, and no one bothered to return my call. Not a promising start. On the day of the wedding, the staff arrived on time, and everything was set up and ready to go as planned. For the most part the food was good, but the ham was awful. It was tough and the pieces were cut into huge chunks, many of which were full of fat and gristle. We had people who normally love ham refusing to eat it. Since it was one of the main dishes, the ham was a huge disappointment, especially for the money paid. The turkey, however, was moist and tasty. The staff members were helpful and professional. They willingly boxed up leftovers for the wedding couple, which was much appreciated, and they left the church kitchen clean.“

“If you’re in Duluth, you need to stop at Duluth Grill! It’s a homey atmosphere with an uptown vibe. They serve wonderful locally sourced food and always pair it with the most unique beverages. The outdoor seating areas are on point with fire pits and summer fun umbrellas tables. Check them out, give your palate a treat, shop for some local products while you wait for your food and don’t forget to check out the gift shop next door!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options and their updated menu shows you all the options.“

“We dined at Pickwick on a recent weekend trip to Duluth. There aren’t many fine dining option there, but this was a great spot to celebrate our anniversary. The waitstaff were very friendly and the meal was well paced. We ordered the artichoke dip, which was probably the best I’ve ever had. Our entrees were delicious and cooked perfectly with the exception of the vegetable side of zucchini and squash, which were overcooked and too soft. The restaurant was busy but not too loud. It’s has several separated areas, so that helps. There was one table near us having a very loud FaceTime call, but luckily they left early in our meal. (No fault of the restaurant, of course. Inconsiderate people can be everywhere…)Oh, save room or get the Red Velvet Cake to go. It’s delicious!“
“Adam was so nice. I asked if they had any more bottles of kinky and he found 4 in the back for me. When I told him I can't carry s box cause I just had neck surgery he carried my products out to my car. Very good customer service at this liquor store. Hard to find people like that who want to help customers“

“A great little old fashioned restaurant. The ambience will bring you back to the olden days. Even if you're 25! I've been here quite a few times and I'll get this out of the way first. It's cash only. No cards, no checks, no Venmo, etc. There is an ATM available for the unprepared. I've been here mostly for breakfast and what a fine breakfast they have! Menu isn't very deep for choices but enough to keep even the most picky satisfied. Nothing I've ordered has ever been sub par. Always to my satisfaction and delicious from first bite to last! You'll enjoy this family style restaurant! I highly recommend it!“

“You can never have a bad meal here. Everything is fantastic, from the coneys to the gyros. Service is fast and the atmosphere is like nowhere else, with what is most likely original booths, tables, and chairs. Coney Island is a gem in downtown Duluth; don't miss out!“

“Been here a few times before, so not sure why I'm just now leaving a review but hey better late than never. There's a reason why this place is packed on a Sunday morning, and that's because they know how to make delicious food. Our guy's weekend group came here for a late breakfast before heading home and boy they were thankful I made the suggestion with one fella saying it was the best breakfast he's had out to eat in a long time. Nothing is ever bad here. Service is fast & friendly, prices are terrific for the portions, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want out of a small ma & pa cafe.“

“We enjoyed our food, service and the wait was very minimal even though we went on a busy night. We loved their in house sauces that you can sample with pork rinds. The jalapeño poppers were sooo good. I got the burrito bowl with shredded pork, very good. Highly recommend. I myself do not partake in alcoholic beverages it was a breath of fresh air to see they had a cocktail list of yummy options. I wish more places offered this.“

“This is my favorite Texas Roadhouse to visit. The staff are amazing. The managers are friendly and they are so helpful with my allergies. I’ve never gotten sick there, which is saying something because I get sick almost every place I eat out. They are so helpful with answering my questions. If they don’t know the answer right away, they help me figure it out. I can’t recommend them enough. The service was quick and the food was perfect.“

“Really good place, especially for pub food. Fries were great, burger was excellent. It was a lot of food, so if there were smaller portions, you could probably order less -- but really excellent burgers and fries.Nice vibe as well. Not too loud and not too packed on top of one another.“

“One of my very favs in Duluth! Everything is great, but the pancakes are my personal fav. You're going to get A LOT of food, and the pancakes are literally the size of your head! It's a far west Duluth favorite, so be prepared to wait, have patience, and tip your staff well!“

“In our early morning travels we were looking for a place to eat breakfast. Our large family stopped right as they were opening. Cook and waiter were friendly, the place was clean, coffee hot and fresh, the food was homemade, made from scratch. Best cornbeef hash, omelet's and biscuits and gravy! We would have stopped for dinner on our way home, but they were already closed for the day. 5 stars from our entire family!“

“Love this place! The food was wonderful. We started off with the Tempura Fried Cauliflower. I loved the aioli sauce, and the whole dish was very tasty. We both ordered the Coconut Curry Rice Bowl with Chicken and it was sublime. I practically licked the bowl it was so good! We ordered a bottle of cabernet, which was decent but not great. Of course, after the first glass, it tasted just fine. :) For dessert we shared a very dense and very delicious piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream. So good! Definitely a place to come back to!Vegetarian options: Probably 75% of the menu appeared to be vegetarian or vegan. But everything we tried was delicious.Dietary restrictions: There were a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, also dishes that were gluten free.Parking: It's in downtown Duluth so parking can be iffy depending on when you go.“

“By far the best food in Duluth. They have a weird twist on the espresso martini where they do it with cold brew, but it works.Eat everything, it’s all good. The steamed buns for some reason were my favorite and the blueberry crème brûlée was like nothing I’ve ever eaten. Amazing.“
“My husband and I got married here on 9/22/2023 and we couldn't have imagined a better venue!! Everything was exactly as we'd pictured when we were planning! The pricing was very fair as well! The staff were incredible to work with; They were friendly, kind, and always ready to help out with anything we needed. They were also incredibly efficient when turning the main floor over from the ceremony to the reception!THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!!! We still have some of our guests reaching out to us to talk about how amazing the food was. We had a double sided buffet, which made the line go by significantly faster. There was even enough food for a good number of our guests to get more of certain items! The management team was also outstanding! In the months leading up to our wedding they were always one phone call or email away, and were very prompt in their response. They had every answer to every question asked, and always had such an upbeat energy about them!I can't recommend this venue enough!!!!“

“Absolutely wonderful experience every time we go there, even when it's a full on dinner rush! Service is stellar, food is absolutely amazing! Tonight I had their catch of the day which was the honey hot salmon - cooked to perfection with a delicious glaze of hot honey to spice it up. And I can't not mention their fresh baked rolls and buns, they are incredible!“

“We hosted an event here for roughly 60-70 people. Lilli was amazing to work with in planning the event, she made it seamless and very easy to get everything organized. The night of the event staff was all very helpful and friendly. Guests raved about the food quality and choices that were selected. I cannot recommend this team and venue enough!“

“My husband and I were at the Canal Park location for brunch today for the first time and will be back as the staff was easily able to adjust for my personal tastes ( I HATE eggs) as well as service being timely. The only complaint I have is that my iced tea tasted like coffee, what I like to call “cofftea”. Whomever is in charge of brewing the tea should not be running the hot water through the coffee maker as the oils from the coffee end up in the tea making the tea taste bad.“

“Went to eat on fish fry night with family and had to stand until seats opened up. Fish was nice and not too hard, rather flaky. Most tables are high top. They do have handicap ramp but not a great seat up inside for it. They often have live music. My suggestion to the owners though is make the parking lot more than earth either gravel or pavement, also add more light at night. I'm glad my rents didn't slip on the icy mud and unseen ruts.Parking: Ruddy earth parking but big. Muddy when wet.Wheelchair accessibility: Have a ramp but most of the tables are high top.“

“LOVE Julie’s! The food is priced right and they serve breakfast all day. We made it to Julie’s for the morning crowd and it was lovely to see the obvious relationship between the staff and folk coming in.I got the shipwreck skillet and it was delicious. I also got a side of pancakes and I feel like that was the cherry on top of a delicious & classic breakfast. My husband got the chicken fried steal and of course I snuck a bite. So, I’m happy to let you know that the chicken fried steak was good as well. The staff is super kind and every time we come in they are joyful and polite. The restaurant is decorated with cute lil knick knacks that are fun to look at.Overall, I’m just impressed with the place and will be coming back again & again.Kid-friendliness: We brought my infant with us and the staff interacted with him and we had no issues while eating in the restaurant with him.“

“For me, this is the best place to go in Canal Park. The beers are excellent and so is the food, staff, atmosphere, gift shop and everything else about it. I can't wait to go back on my next trip to Duluth, hopefully with better weather to enjoy the outdoor seating by the lake/boardwalk.“

“Delightful! Tables were busy so i sat at their bar - which I wanted to do anyway. Best red-eye coffee I've ever had. Chorizo biscuits and gravy with over-easy eggs was insanely good. Looked like a ton of food but went down surprisingly light! Something about the cherry tomatoes and basil hidden in the dish added a perfect aromatic, herbal, complementary essence. I'll be thinking about that dish for a while!Highly recommend - probably need reservations if you need a table!“

“Private party, so bar was closed off to public. Bartenders worked their tail off & still friendly and fast. We were 3rd & 4th person in line for food, which oddly was cold. Mashed potatoes were good but no gravy, butter, or anything (strange) to put on them. They did off barbecue sauce “

“Megan and Paige are awesome every time I come here! I come into town every few months and these two are very consistent, as a fellow bartender, even when they’re busy, they both give great service and do their job well! Just wanted to give these two a shout out for their amazing work ethic ? also the burgers here are 10/10“

“First time been here in awhile. Service was good. Beer was great, sad they don't have growlers yet. Had the Rubin and was disappointed. Have had it there before and loved it kimchi spicy sauce is great but the corned beef was very chewy and flabby. Either a bad cut of meat or cut wrong. The grease from the extra fat mad it soggy. Still had good flavor but just a disappointing texture. Hopefully just a bad cut of meat. Everything else was delicious ate with 2 others and they both loved the food.Great service today. Server recognized us from last time. Very helpful. Big portions and good drinks. Love the atmosphere of the place. Great wood fired oven which adds tons of flavor to everything cooked in it. Will always go again. The entire front has been remodeled. Getting ready for the brewery opening in a couple weeks. Great place for events and group. Weddings and concerts. Had a great time using the event center for our meeting. Very nice staff and clean bathrooms.Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator available to get to both floors.“

“The enviroment at this establishment is fairly welcoming! After meeting with the owners--whom are very respectable-- I would highly recommend coming here to meet with this family owned eatery. The food here is phenomenal especially their chicken and waffles If I had had to rate this food I would give this a 9/10 the flavor combination is delicious and is unique! After tasting the burger and cheese curds I almost went to cloud 9! I would rate the cheese curds a 8.6/10 and the burger a 6/10. If I would rate this place I would have to say 10/10 highly recommend and I would come again!Kid-friendliness: The kiddos are welcomed!“

“The restaurant is in an old gas station. Not much remodeling was done to make it a restaurant. Other then that the food is fine. Not a lot of parking, parking lot is weird and awkward with some semblance of the old gas pump bays. It's right in the middle of town making it popular for the older crowd that loves coffee and breakfast.“

“Local Duluthian. This used to be a family favorite spot, it felt like a "Special" place to go. We rarely come here in recent years. The last few times its clear how run down this spot is becoming - you have such a great location, beautiful view of lake superior, tourist hot spot ... but its sad how run down its becoming, carpets, worn down booths. . . . Leaving this review to try encourage owners to put a little pride back into this restaurant and do Duluth Proud.“
